Its time to head to Walgreens!

It looks like the six inchers are hitting there well now. I have seen folks report findings of not only the Proto Fett you see above, but seen them have the Vader, Episode VI Luke, among others in hand now. Don't forget if you find anything good to put it in our New Purchases Thread!

Commander Kurgan is back with more Clones and Mandos...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 31 2014
"After having used the belt and shoulder pauldron from the original figure for a project, I threw a spare belt/pauldron rig from a Captain Fordo on him and decided that I like the new look. The DC-17 carbine fits the clip holster nicely, too." I would say that turned out well too. I also like some of his parts swapping he did on a male and female Mandalorian.

Doc Outlands shows us his walls!

"WE HAVE PROTOTYPES IN HAND! WOOOOOOOOOOOT! We had 4x wall panels and 1x floor panel test-printed for us. They look very promising! Sure, there are some design changes I want to make before we have them produced, but that's the way it goes. We're also still working on a way to make them interconnect reliably and securely. BUT ENOUGH DRIVEL!! PICTURES!" I agree they do look promising.

Ron Hembling completes his Planet Of The Apes Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 31 2014
"I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new NECA POTA classic figures and I have to say I wasn't disappointed, these figures are excellent from the details on the uniform to the head sculpts are spot on. My only gripe is the paint apps on the faces so I decided to repaint Cornelius and make a small display for him. The display depicts him in his office and keeping in mind that he is an archaeologist I wanted to make display with some relics, maps and equipment in the office. My two kids kept nagging me not to cover the joints like the usual statue type diorama's that I usually do so who am I to argue with two critics LOL." Well this critic sure does think it looks great too!

Starfall gets his Bounty Hunter on for the latest custom challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 29 2014
"I saw that the options to vote on for this contest had included, among other interesting possibilities, a "gender-swap" contest. Even though Bounty Hunters won (and why shouldn't they?) I was interested in the idea of gender-swapping, so I gender swapped everyone's favorite Star Wars Bounty Hunter. I decided to go with Boba Fett's first appearances. The first is from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. The second is from The Empire Strikes Back. I am obsessive about accuracy and details, so I pushed myself to make these figures as close to 100% screen accurate as possible." Now this is what I call a dynamic duo! The paint jobs on these are just flawless. Make sure you see his large images. Don't forget time is running out for you to get your own bounty hunter on so click here to see the full challenge rules and details.

Toy R Us doing a SW REBELS Spotlight...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 29 2014
It seems they are gonna have a spotlight a week on a special vehicle or character from the Star Wars Verse. Up this week is the AT-AT and man o man am I hoping this might mean perhaps we could see these iconic vehicles not only make an appearance in SW REBELS, but one in the retail aisle too. Many of the vehicles, ships, and characters are already known to be hitting the toy pegs so I can but hope we see a re-release of the larger size Imperial Walker in perhaps a REBELS Logo Box.

Wow, was there ever a great time to get into cosplay. This Luke Skywalker Ceremonial Jacket w/ Medal of Yavin ensemble is only $64 off of an original $275! "Own your own Star Wars Luke Skywalker Ceremonial Jacket with Medal of Yavin - and you don't even have to destroy the Death Star to get it! As seen in the movie Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, this Luke Skywalker Ceremonial Jacket from Museum Replicas is yellow and made from a poly-cotton blend. The jacket has been faithfully reproduced with reference from the only jacket made for the film, now in private hands. Note that the Star Wars Luke Skywalker Ceremonial Jacket with Medal of Yavin has a form-fitting athletic cut that's wider in the shoulders and narrower in the waist. There is no zipper. It comes with an accurate version of the Medal of Bravery that is not attached to the jacket and can be worn with or without the coat. Available in sizes M, L, and XL."

-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, August 28 2014

Sjefke is back with a new ROTJ update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, August 28 2014
"Can you believe I haven't opened my TVC Kithaba yet? I only have the brown bandanna version, so of course in the interest of screen accuracy, I had to tweak my opener. Once I got started, I couldn't stop. Kithaba is a great figure, but Hasbro left him so bland, and the mismatched joint colors of didn't help.

Here's what I did:

1. Painted the bandanna red. (Duh!)
2. Detail painted the face. I got a nice vein on his forehead, that I couldn't capture on the camera. I painted the gums a nasty grey, pink, and separated the teeth,
3. Dremelled down the ball joints, dabbed on primer and paint and but on a teeny, tiny application of acro-cyanate glue as a sealer. So far it's holding nicely.
4. Weathered the leather pouches, belts and boots.
5. Added shadowing.
6. Detailed the monotone pistol and staff."

Folks he surely did make this one look awesome like it was intended!

BDC41866 gives Big Padawan's Customs an update...

"New custom time. Pretty simple head swap and an addition of some belts and accessories and we have a Dresselian Jedi." He is really creating some awesome kit bashes lately.

Its a DC update for Most Wanted Collectibles...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
I was perusing the new products at MWC and saw this great new DC Comics Super Villains Bust of Deathstroke and thought it look pretty daggone rad. I must say this character reminds me so much of Deadpool and I am guessing perhaps DC might be trying to piggyback a bit on that character's popularity.

That being said there is an awesome DC Section at Most Wanted Collectibles and I would definitely peruse the entire section. It truly is the year of the collector with just a ton of great products to choose between. Remember, its never too early to start shopping for that DC Fanboy or Fangirl on your shopping list.

Hangarbay94 is back with an X-Wing Alliance Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
"Guys, it's been ages since I've been active here, sadly all of my creativity has been focused on work, but it has been paying off, things seem to be looking up! Man did I have a rough time... Anyhow I am still determined to complete this story before possibly returning to it sometime in the future. The final chapter will be some time away yet, but it will be completed. Here is just a taster before I disappear once again." Well after an awesome graphic like that I hope he doesn't stay away too long. It is always great to hear an update about X-Wing Alliance!

Entertainment Earth

And of course if you want to be Star Wars Specific I have a separate link for their SW Section too.

Darth Streams is back with a great Custom REBELS Kanan...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
"So it's been awhile, I'll blow the cobwebs off this thread and bring it back to life. My latest custom is of Kanan from Star Wars Rebels." Wow, does that look great both custom action figure and the custom vintage style cardback!

Mr. Black updates us on his Man Cave Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
"Never realized placing 180+ figures neatly in a row could be so time consuming. It was much easier to just throw them in a big bin :D But I have to admit, it's very satisfying seeing all these on display." I really like how he has the vintage figure with their most modern counterpart. Nice work Remco!

Spuda Fett gets his hands on the Command Series...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
"So... I'm no Ron Hemble... but after seeing his amazing little diorama using the new 2.5" command series sandtroopers I have been itching to get a set. When I found it at walmart for 5 bucks I couldn't say no. For the last few hours I've been painting up three of them... but you know me... I'm not happy if I haven't gotten out the exacto knife. I love these sculpts, for the size they are great. But I wanted to make at least one of the figures different than the other poses. I very gently cut the head off one of the gun toting sandies and turned his head facing the other direction. This gives him a slightly different pose... Here are my results." I love the paint and detail work on these!

Custom Jedi is back with some light work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 27 2014
"I took a break to work on the Cantina tables I got from Production Platform 3. Here's a lighting test I shot after drilling and painting one of the tables." Well I would call that one successful test if you ask me!

Sponsor Dorkside Toys lists new 3.75 inch Black Series!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
Whether its Commander Thorn or Mosep Binneed, Dorkside has you covered. I would also highly recommend the new Commander Wolffe, Commander Doom, and the new Ceremonial Leia! It is great to see them list these singly so you don't have to buy an entire case to get the single action figure you want as well!

Toys R US Canada shares a REBELS AT-AT Video?
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
Now you know I would be all over this one. I am not sure what this means as far as the appearance of the venerable AT-AT in REBELS or if this means it will be making another return to retail in a REBELS Box (hope so!), but this is a pretty cool run down on the destructive capability of the All Terrain Armored Transport!

Starfall is back with a new character for his verse...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
"Secondary characters (and 3rd, and 4th, etc.) were always something I felt helped make sci-fi stories successful. Star Wars is a great example of that. So plan to see tons of secondary/background characters in Starfall. Speaking of secondary characters, here is a female Star-Cav marine communications specialist serving aboard The Dreamer's Burden. The Star-Cav marines are some of the toughest soldiers in the star cluster, ready to take on any challenge and turn the tide of any battle." Works for me!

Commander Kurgan shows us a great Shadow ARC Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014

Elias sends in an update on Darth Daddy...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
"Here's a figure Dad and I worked on over the course of the week. Every time either one of us walked past him, we worked on him a little more until he was done. We had big customizing plans this past week when we were on vacation. Unfortunately, this action figure of a Clone Wars Weequay pirate is all we have to show for it. Yeah, we know...another pirate." Nothing wrong with that I say!

Twelfth Parsec sends in an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
"Hey guys and gals, Quick update. Regular sets should start to trickle out this week in the order they were received . Sorry for the delay. One of the recent raw plastic orders got messed up , as well as a recent family emergency put us a little behind. Shipping notices should start being sent out again this week. Thanks again to everyone for your contributions and patience." From all reports on the early bird sets I have read, we are all gonna be pretty happy!

Doc Outlands is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 26 2014
"Have I mentioned we have Econoliner prototypes being printed RIGHT NOW?? VERY SOON we will have the PHYSICAL WALLS in hand to show you with figures standing on them! We expect some minor details to change, depending on how well the details work with figures - like the depressions in the floor not swallowing a Stormie's foot!" It will be nice to see what these look like printed!

New REBELS video Entanglement Short...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 25 2014
"In “Entanglement,” a special Star Wars Rebels short, Zeb fails to meet with Kanan at a specified rendezvous point…and instead finds himself joyfully battling many, many stormtroopers." Well it still looks like Storm Troopers can't hit anything!

Ron Hembling updates us on his POTA Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 25 2014
He is back to old school Planet of the Apes for his new diorama. It looks like Cornelius is already getting settled in this great looking update. "A quick little update with base. I covered the wall, floor, chair and table in plaster cloth and once dry covered that in watered down plaster of paris so it would sip into the cloth better. I then gave it a paint job to see how the colours would look and also put on two scrolls to show the the size of the table top."

Darth Sinister presents a different point of view...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 25 2014
"A long time ago... I decided to do a fun rewrite of "Return Of The Jedi". Kind of in the same vein as the Prequel series I've been doing for a while. (I'll probably do these characters in that style also.) Well, because of the way I thought it should flow I had to do a lot of re-design work so I hand drew a lot of this in a little note book and scribbled notes to remember where I was going with it. Anyhow, when I , started doing the 'Virtual Customs' I thought it would be cool to do the characters in that style. I did some and abandoned the series. I also never posted them anywhere. I was looking at them the other day and decided to finally put em' out so here are a few to start with and some brief descriptions. First up is Princess Leia and C-3PO as I saw them." I appreciate him sharing these concepts here!

Spuda Fett does more work on his 6 inch Kashyyyk Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 25 2014
"Thanks for the comments everyone. I worked a little more on him this afternoon. I thought a guile suit would be a fun addition. First I fixed up the gun with a fitting paint app and new sling." That guile suit even works on covering up his speeder bike!

Commander Kurgan shows us a great ARC Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 25 2014
He came back with a vengeance yesterday and as I was posting on his great Toryn Custom he posted this new ARC called Alpha-45 Grizz as well as quite a few other new additions. I must say his use of the Imperial Knight Figure really saw some unique variations with just some simple head swapping.

Butterfingers gets his Bounty Hunter on for our latest custom challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
Now, I really, really, like this one! "Finally finished my Rako Hardeen earlier today. Added a working holster for his custom pistol and the helmet is removable. I might return and change the helmet in the future. But for now, I'm satisfied with it. Just wanted to give a big a shout out to Rogue Jedi (Lucas) for sending me some dental tools free of charge to help start my sculpting progress. Without him, I probably never would have been able to create this figure. Thanks so much, if there is anything I can do to return the favor, let me know!" Well now that is one cool thing, customizers helping other customizers. Don't forget to see the full challenge details as the time is running out for you to get your own Bounty Hunter created!

Commander Kurgan is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
"Here I partly undress Toryn Farr and give her Dagobah Luke's gunbelt. There, you've got yourself a cool female Rebel." I couldn't agree more and CK is great to see you back. Its like a presence I haven't felt in awhile!

Halnarthax87 is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
"In the meantime enjoy this Gamorrean juggernaut. I saw this Hulk figure and was reminded of a Star Wars Tales comic called "Three Against the Galaxy" which was about a rather deep gamorrean having an existential crisis who forms an unlikely friendship with a human girl and a jawa. He was also huge and ripped, so yeah. The body is 100% not customized, but I made that Gamorrean head myself from sculpy." Wow, that is some nice head sculpting. You really need to scroll up and see his great General Krell too.

BDC41866 gives Big Padawan's Customs an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
"Working on a few more kitbash cutoms now. Heres the first, a House Organa Planetary Security Officer/Riot Control specialist. My own EU concept. Enjoy and more to come." Looks like a nice mix of parts to me. This one would make an excellent pilot too methinks.

Ron Hembling goes Planet of the Apes on us!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
Does this look like an awesome work in progress or what! Definitely old school Planet of the Apes too. I must say that I am liking them both (still need to see that newer film that just came out). Till then, kick back, and enjoy Ron of Hemble Creations put together another fantastic diorama.

Its a new episode of the Realm Recap...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 24 2014
This week's title is Heads will roll. "On this week's show we discuss the latest in toy news hitting online, in store and our pocketbooks. Also, there is an apparent disturbance in the Force surrounding a certain Dark Lord of the Sith figure that is making its way to collectors. Flyguy and I get our heads on straight to discuss whether or not if it's warranted or should be ignored. This and much more on The Realm Recap."

KRZTFR gets his bounty hunter on for the latest custom challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
I really like his description for his Bounty Hunter. "Solon Farr never made it past his rookie year, while hunting a spice runner he crossed paths with a veteran hunter named Bossk. When he caused the spice runner to escape Bossk in a fit of rage blamed the would be hunter and savagely bit at his neck and left him to bleed to death. I made this character for two reasons 1. not all bounty hunters have armor and 2. not all bounty hunters are bad-asses." I am taking it that this was just one more victim of Bossk's. Don't forget to click here to see how to get your own Bounty Hunter on for our latest custom challenge!

Spuda Fett transforms the new 6 inch Biker Scout...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
"As soon as I had opened up the 6 inch scout trooper with speeder bike I knew I had to get a second one to customize... and I knew that it was going to be a Kashyyyk Trooper. I did some digging and I haven't seen ANYONE customize the 6in biker scout yet, but I'm sure someone was going to do this eventually. So, after some minor alterations to the helmet and the pouches, a full figure re-paint was in order." All I have to say is that this is one breathtaking transformation. Just outstanding work Devin.

Mr. Black is back with a work in progress update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
From his Armored Quinlan Vos to Satele Shan to his 6" ARC this is one great update. I must say his ability to pretty much sculpt any armor is spot on phenomenal. I would also really like to give a shout out to his 6 inch ARC Trooper Project as the attention to every small detail is gonna push this one into the epic build.

Starchaser is back with an update
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
"Its been a bit, but here's a couple of simple head swaps I did earlier this summer; a Sullustan Jedi called Bauu Duhan." Sometimes all it takes is a good part or facial sculpt to really create something new and dynamic. Anyone else thinking of the new Mara Jade?

Custom Creator shows us a fantastic Joker Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
"Hey gents, been a bit! Entered a contest on Facebook that is actually a 3 round tournament! It's called; Articulated Comic Book Art. The purpose is to make a scene that could look like it's out of the pages of a comic book (with cut outs and what not). Here is my Work in progress so far." Folks, all I can say is that he can make in miniature what folks strive to make in one to one scale in real life.

Disneystore.com lists the Talking Boba Fett!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 23 2014
I am really enjoying these 13 and a 1/2 Talking Action Figures and have already added Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper to my own collection. I am happy to report that Boba Fett is now available for order! I keep hoping we might get to see some other Imperial Troopers in this line. Don't forget right now they have BOGO for $1 promo going on along with free shipping for orders over $75. One cool thing I noticed is that on their checkout menu they have a current promotion link so you can see what code you will want to enter before you submit your order.

While we wait for my video, lets watch FlyGuy take the challenge to support the ALS Charity!

Bronxstalker gets his Bounty Hunter on for our latest custom challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 22 2014
Wow, now this is one cool Rodian Bounty Hunter. "He is completely painted over. I used Krylon black spray paint as the base color, rather than hand paint him, and found the spray paint to come out incredibly smooth and strong (does not chip, no paint rub, etc). So smooth, you'd think it came this way. I used some sculpt throughout, and even used sculpt above the eyes to give him an angry look, as opposed to the dumb look that Greedo has. I used a mixture of Marine Corps green to give him a darker greenish look, and some yellow, since Rodians could have multi color in their skin. Hope you enjoy, and good luck to all in the drawing." Don't forget to read the full challenge rules and details so you can create your own Bounty Hunter!

Mr. Black is turning that six inch Clone Trooper into an ARC!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 22 2014
I was hoping he was gonna keep delving into this six inch figure. He is really getting ready to create something fantastic. "Yep, already saw a Wolffe on the 6 inch Collector's Facebook page and I have started on an Alpha ARC." I can't wait to see what he does with the bucket!

Starfall is back with a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 22 2014
"Next is one of the more "background" characters of the Starfall story. Meet Celise Capristone, a junior munitions officer serving aboard The Dreamer's Burden." I must say he is really creating a diverse verse rich with all kinds of characters. I keep wanting to read the book or the photo-novel!

KRZTFR is back with a great vehicle update too...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 22 2014
From a great new ride for his Batman to the awesome modified Walker you see above this is one heck of an update. I have to admit that Walker really turned out well and I had been wondering what its status had been. I think you will be able to recognize some of the parts. It is always something cool you can come up with if you mix SW and JOE parts.

KRZTFR makes a better Batman...

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with a new custom...

"Made this awhile back but just now am posting the pics. Here is a custom MOLATOR, one of the holochess pieces seen in Star Wars A New Hope, when Chewbacca and C-3PO are playing the game while onboard the Millienium Falcon. This is a fully posable custom figure in scale with all 3 3/4" figures. He is shown in a couple of pics with another custom Cane Adiss figure I was making at that time too." What can I say other than awesome!

JKNO officially reviews teh Jakks Pacific Storm Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 22 2014
He has gotten his hands on a collectible I thought he might pass out, but being an ST Enthusiast he picked this up and did an awesome review. He had a lot of good things to say about this and while not 100% screen accurate (what is these days eh?) he was also able to showcase a few subtle tricks that really pushed the look of this one way up.

Mr. Black adds more movement to the 6 inch Clone Trooper!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, August 21 2014
He reviewed this figure a few weeks ago and one of his only critiques was the lack of some movement in the head and arm area. Well, he has shown back up with a tutorial on how you can add more range of movement to this Black Series 4 inch Phase I Clone Trooper. It just never ceases to amaze me at how dedicated a lot the Shipyarders are. Thank you Remco for not only fixing yours, but showing the rest of us how to do it ourselves!

Jetpack Blues gets his bounty hunter on for our latest challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 20 2014
"I wasn't planning on entering this particular contest because even without a contest the awesome customizers on ISY have shown their proficiency at making bounty hunters and I wasn't confident I could match the talent. Then I realized its a random winner so I'm in, haha. Here's some early work on my entry. Got lots of color reworking to do on top of other things. Obviously this bounty hunter is roaming about during the upcoming timeline." I am digging the look of this new helmet (like the new Ep7 Stormies) and hope everyone decides to enter. Like JPB said the winner will be random from all the entrants. Click here to find out more contest details.

Thanks for all the positive comments on the Death Star! Glad to be done with it, no lie. Will likely take a few weeks off before I get going on the next project: Galactic Senate." Ron Hembling customizes up some Command Series...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 20 2014
Wow! Perhaps there might be something to this SW Army Men after all! "Here are some quick pics of three of the ST Command Series figures. I figured I would post the quicky pics here so you all can see how they look painted and I will get my usual outdoor pics done by the end of the weekend. These little figures are fantastic to paint up and throw on a dio like the one I have done and as we have mentioned in this section they are fantastic for the beginner painter and dioramist. These would also be a cheaper alternative for wargammers as you could play space and land battles." I like how Ron thinks. And what a great way to get a newcomer into learning how to paint!

Jetpack Blues is back with some new artwork...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 20 2014
"Haha. Warning I haven't posted anything here in over 120 days.... thanks for reminding me I'm lazy ISY auto warning. But I refuse to start a new topic on the rare occasion I post "art". I do actually doodle, sketch etch but its rare Star Wars. Here is a rare occasion where I worked on a Star Wars pic during lunch breaks. Its modelled after the cover of the comic Wild Blue Yonder, issue 2." I think it looks pretty daggone nice and done over one lunchbreak!

JKNO goes low and high end on us...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 20 2014
He starts out with a great review of the Jakks Pacific Vader and then moves onto an E-1l Blaser Replica. "The fantastic JAKKS 31" Giant Stormtrooper figure just arrived - this thing is huge. And it is a really awesome figure, especially for around $40, you need to get some space for it to be properly displayed. I know some people collect only the most idealized props out there, and that others go for Legend items just for the rarity, and not really for the roughness and wonkiness. But if someone loves for real the wonky and rough props, this should be one of those ugly beauties out there that shouldn't miss from any serious collector: RS Prop Masters - Pugman - Empire Strikes Back Stunt E-11 Stormtrooper blaster."

Bronxstalker creates customs out of everyday items...

"The following are not figures nor fit into any lore, but I came across some guy that makes these and calls them Valero-bots. My daughter loves them, so I decided to start making them....but I'll call mine....Stalker-bots, lol. They're pretty much made from random odd stuff found around the house. For example, the one on the left is made from a cake frosting jar, bottle caps, etc. The second one is made....from a deodorant container. I'm going to making more of these....I told my wife not to throw anything away without me looking at it first, lol." Now this is customizing folks!

He still needs a little detail work, the gauntlets mostly. Still I'm just so happy with how this turned out." Well now that was a new way to put one together and wow I agree with him it worked well!

"I don't know about you, but I was pretty stoked about the Inquisitor since he was first announced, and continue to be so as the character keeps receiving more good news. I know a lot of people cried, "Why can't we just have Vader?" or "There can only be two Sith!" or whatever else. I knew there were plenty of reasons Vader couldn't be the primary antagonist on Rebels." I know his version looks pretty cool to me!

Rex Smoke creates a great Jabba's Dias...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 16 2014
"I did what hasbro should have done, made a throne for the mighty Jabba. This was my first project with pink foam so I didn't know how to hide the seams between layers of foam. It turned out pretty well. Now I'm just waiting on getting some little ring holders for the front of the throne. This was also my first time making little soft goods too." Well I think it turned out fantastic.

Rex Smoke is back...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 16 2014

Smeagol92055 starts up experiments in sculpting!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 16 2014
"So I'm fascinated by peoples' ability to recreate things they've seen, whether through the use of making resin and latex molds, vacuum molding, or even good old-fashioned sculpting itself. To that end, I decided to run a series of experiments to see if I could recreate a few different 1:18 scale figure heads. For my first experiment, I started with the hypothesis that I could use Sculpy® to both make a mold and to fill the mold." I found his experiment to be quite informative and can't wait to see how his next trial turns out!

We had to postpone Episode 73 of Custom Action Figure News!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 15 2014

Don't worry we are already making plans to get this done either this weekend or Thursday next week (stay tuned for the new time) and wish to also thank Jetpack Blues for agreeing to reschedule! I also want to thank my co-host Chad for putting out the word last night on our Facebook Page so I hope folks didn't have to wait too long!

Mr. Black reviews the new 6 inch Black Series Clone Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 15 2014

He covered this from head to toe with multiple images from multiple angles and you can take that both literally and figuratively as he covered all the issues both collectors and customizers want to know. Thanks Remco!

Episode Storm Trooper helmet revealed?
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 15 2014
JKNO has found some very interesting images concerning some upcoming Imperial Trooper helmets from Indierevolver.com. I have to admit his first take on the Stormy Bucket looking like a motorcycle helmet sure looks spot on to me. I know, I know I gotta get over the my OTC roots and look at this with different eyes, but its hard!

Hasbro Toy Shop not packing the SDCC Jabba well!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 12 2014
I guess that shouldn't come as a huge surprise from previous years and their shipments (can anyone remember the mail away Fett?), but I was seriously disappointed to see this Tweet I found from our friends at Yakface.com. I got notice a few days ago mine had shipped, but with this packing and the way my postal workers treat my packages I don't know how much hope I can hold out.

Custom Jedi finishes his work in progress...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 12 2014
"Yerka Mig uses some Han parts and the headcast looks very similar. I'm not sure what figure the cast was from. I chose it because of the shaggier hair, but after painting it I thought it kind of looked like Han as if he had been played by "Flash Gordon's" Sam Jones. At least I can scratch another update off my list." I thought I might not be right about the Han head. Looks great to me.

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 12 2014
"Here is a group of custom figures that I made. They are all based on characters seen in Jabba the Hutt's palace in Return of the Jedi. Loje Nella is shown in this group too for scale. It stands 3 inches tall. HARC SEFF is also a newly posted custom figure. The others can be seen in my thread here on Imperialshipyards." I must say he is coming up with some very unique things with no sign of slowing down.

Starfall is back with a new custom...

Jrny Fan finishes his Death Star Play Set!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 11 2014
And a feeling of awe goes over the multitude viewing this on the world wide web. Truly, this is one epic creation and just a master blend of 3D Printing mixed with Jrny Fan's artistry in the use of a product called Instamorph. I am truly at a loss for words as to describe how awesome I think this is. If Hasbro would only make a reasonable facsimile of this I think we would all be crying right now. I have seen some really awe inspiring and artistic builds, but this one has to rank up with my top five favorite creations right now. Just wow Brian!

Tankser is back with a new Mech...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 11 2014
"Tales Of Desolation Vermilion Cicada: The Cicada is a multi-purpose Mech used primarily in the drilling of Platinum a highly sought after metal in Desolation. The Cicada is also well equipped to defend itself and other miners in the event a hostile group or marauders would attack." The pilot he created to go along with this is fantastic too. And then I found he has a fantastic blog for all of these wonderful World of Desolation Customs. I lost a few minutes there this morning too.

Spuda Fett is back with some 6 inch vehicle work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 11 2014
"I decided that with the new speeder bike and scout trooper coming out for the 6 inch black series line (which I've yet to get, but will be) there needed to be some other vehicles. Inspired by the massive 6 inch scale at-st that another forum member built out of cardboard I started my own cardboard project today. Here's what I've gotten so far." I would say he is off to a great start and man it shows how popular getting some vehicles, even smaller in scale, would be for our six inch action figures.

Bronxstalker is back with a six inch custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 11 2014
"This is a custom of a 6" Daredevil that I was working on. He's made from a Captain America base figure, primed, painted black base, dry painted, washes, some sculpt, etc.
Hope you enjoy viewing." Well I know I sure do as this new one looks great to me. Matter of fact if you want to own this one you can click this link.

Darth Sinister presents a different point of view...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 11 2014
"I've got a couple here tonight. First up is Fenn Shysa again. Later in the MARVEL series he had an interesting costume change. Fenn went to an all white armor with an orange flight suit, not just any orange though this was like a pastel orange. I like to call this his "Dreamsicle" look beacause he looked a little like one of my favorite ice cream treats. Here he is in all his glory." I must say that is just one of a great many new Figure Concepts he posts for us this time.

Toys R Us has a great price on the 6" Stormy...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 10 2014
I got an email about a Toys R US deal and clearance this week and while I don't live close to one I do sometimes look online to see if anything is good. Well low and behold they are selling the Black Series 6" Storm Trooper for $17.99. They are limiting these to one per customer (I liked that) so everyone can get one and if you happen to find $49 dollars worth of items you can get your shipping free. I am highly thinking about getting one of these and that Stormy and feeling really good about it.

Tonphanan gives us his take on Mace's demise...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 10 2014
"My take on how the Vader vs. Windu fight should have gone down. Jango still loses though. This is a redo of one I made a long time ago." Wow, that sure does look like a idea to me. It would have made a great fight scene in ROTS!

MAXX Replicas gives us an update to his Episode V ILM Dio...

"here's the next camera: A Vistavion Reflex Camera. This camera is unique and was especially developed and built for the Hoth stop-motion shots in EP V (upper right picture: Dennis Muren at work)." Can you just imagine the level of detail this one is gonna have when finished?

Bronxstalker creates number 2 of his SW A Team!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 10 2014
I pity the fool (I am sorry I couldn't help it) that doesn't take a look at his second Storm Trooper Style A Team Member that is on the run from the evil empire. He is really using a nice mix or parts and paint on these. Yepper, I think ole B.A. Barracus would approve of this quite nicely.

Custom Jedi is back with a work in progress...

This new Han looks like it has loads of potential. I always appreciate a figure with great paint apps and movement. They seem to be in short supply from regular factory action figures nowadays!

JLW515 shows us his customs and great data cards...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 10 2014
"Here are my Class of 83 customs for my Joeverse. Some of these are basic parts swaps just to look more like the ’83 character. For example, I love the POC Snow Job, but to make him look more like his ’83 outfit he simply needed a coat with a hood up. Also, I envision a character like Doc to be more of a base surgeon, not a field medic. I also “fixed” his file card." Trust me, there is a lot more than that to see with his latest update.

Elias is back with an update...

"Another new one from Elias." Here is his new R2-D2 The Big Hay-zu version. I must say it is a pretty good looking droid to me.

Unreality checks back in too...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, August 7 2014
"So I finished a few small figure vignettes recently. I enjoyed it so much I may have to do some more. I repainted an old Unleashed Darth Vader statue. I painted him to look like he was made of brass, like some of the Sideshow statues. I even built a small ladder and added a Micro Machine Anakin Skywalker figure. This is more of an introspective piece than a depiction of a scene. But it's pretty neat to see the child looking at what he will become." I like the symbolism behind these creations.

First up is Echo who is just full of great accessories and has a very unique face sculpt and just a ton of hands for all kinds of poses. Of course how could you get Echo and not Fives too who is just as loaded as his counterpart (literally). I especially liked the Gauntlet artwork on this one. Good luck resisting both of these!

Matter of fact Most Wanted Collectibles has quite the selection of pre-order, recently released, and older Star Wars Mini-Busts at drastically reduced prices. I have not seen any estore have as good of prices on GG busts including GG LTD's online store themselves. Go get yourself a new bust and tell em the Tamer sent you!

"Ikea has tiny covers for the countless small holes in the sides of their cabinets. Had a little help from my girls plugging those in. 400+ of those things! Installed four Morebo glass doors and placed a lot of my collection in the cabinets. You can still see a couple of wooden shelves, but I have already bought glass ones to replace those too." "Now that the freshness and con-stink of SDCC has worn off, The Realm Recap returns this week to a state of normalcy but one thing remains…. Jabba! Is Monday the day that HasbroToyShop mercifully puts their SDCC Exclusive(s) up for pre-order or will they drag this cruel game out for another week? We also discuss the latest store reports as new product is officially starting to hit retailer shelves now." Don't forget to subscribe to their channel so you don't miss out on a new episode.

Bronxstalker continues his A Team...

"Here's a WIP of the next trooper (primed and almost ready to be painted)." This is the tale of a group of Storm Troopers who broke away from the Evil Empire and are trying to survive. Loved by neither side, just where will they end up next?

Jetpack Blues is back with some new head sculpts...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 4 2014
"So, after listening to the previous CAFN podcast with Dayton (talking about his customs, not SDCC) and once again just shaking my head in amazement at what this guy is capable of I decided, despite all my complaining about hating sculpting I decided I should maybe reconsider. I've technically sculpted before, primarily for armor or pouches etc and yes technically adding lekku and horns to figures is a form of sculpting but none of that is really 'Sculpting" in my eyes. To me that's just par for the course. What Dayton's work really makes me wish I could do is head sculpting, so that's what I have decided to start trying to figure out." Thanks for watching JPB and I really like that Cthulu head you have worked out!

JLW515 is back with a huge JOE Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 4 2014
"Slowly but surely I am working on putting together a G.I. Joe diostory/photonovel. This will all be total fan fiction based on my own “Joeverse.” Elements from the comics, cartoons, and movies will find their way into my Joeverse. My G.I. Joe team consists of all ’82 to ’84 figures, but from ’85 onward it gets sporadic (not a big fan of Bazooka or Quick Kick). Anyway, here is my first GROUP of customs (some of these have been seen before, or variations of). G.I. Joe and the OG13 (I’ve even customized their file cards to make them less time specific, and to give more a variety of military branches)." The bios sure are cool looking too.

Darth Sinister presents a different point of view...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 4 2014
"I was looking back waaay before I started posting this old stuff and reading over some of the PREQUEL stuff. We had left off at the droid armies, Mando troops and even looked at a possibility for an armored Jedi. That would pretty much be the cast of characters for EPISODE I TPM with one exception... Bail Organa. This is a good representation of Bail as I picture him in a hanger bay surrounded by Alderaanian Royal Guard." Wow, sure does work for me. Wait till you read the full back-story.

So just how many points or articulation are there?
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 4 2014
"A brief video on how we will be defining POA going forward with our Yakface Toyguide updates." Jayson is taking a new look at what realistic points of articulation mean in more modern figures.

Krash Override is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, August 4 2014
"So this was another inspiration that came from all those TRU sales. Gollum's body (from The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins/Gollum two pack) made the perfect base for an "Area-51" type alien.
I'm really digging the way he came out, may have to make him some friends eventually." Boy this one sure looks like the typical big eyed alien to me!

Introducing Starfall - a New Adventure!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"Welcome to Starfall, a brand new, original sci-fi saga that has been 3 years in the making and is currently still in the early stages of development. I wanted to share my production models for the core characters of the first chapter here on ISY, as they have been rendered as custom action figures. This is the first time they have ever been posted in public. I have plans to fully develop the story and characters into an independently produced toy line and will be raising money for the project on Kickstarter some time later this year or in 2015. Meet Nef, the very first character I created, long before Starfall was even conceived. She's a strict military officer with hidden past and a secret destiny." Wow, that is some custom character and I look forward to seeing where this goes!

Bantha Tootiee 6 is back with some great paint jobs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"My original Millennium Falcon had yellowed because of age and stickers fell off, so I decided in my Star Wars world after Han collected his reward for saving Leia, he would, like most men, invest it into his ride (because he didn't pay off Jabba as we know) I painted it silver with different details painted a few looking at pics and the rest just added in or improvised." I must say between that and the Snow Speeder there are some great new images to peruse.

Darth Sinister presents a different point of view...
-- Posted by
Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"These are from issues 55 thru 61 or so. They are a simple outfit change for LANDO CALRISSIAN and LUKE SKYWALKER... and I included one of their new friends, PLIF the HOOJIB for good measure. MARVEL sure had some oddly colorful stuff going on back then!" It really is cool to see the SW Marvel Characters come to life as action figures even if it is just virtual.

Jrny Fan is back with a 3D Printing Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
Wow he is getting good with these designs. "Palp's desk. Decal will cover the middle raised area - I guess it's some kind of holo projector or something?" Is his design progress awesome or what! There is also some great information regarding the "texture" you get when you 3D Print that I found very informative. I would also really like to thank Jrny Fan with sharing his tips and techniques and general thoughts on all this. Someone could learn to set one of these up just by going through his custom thread.

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with a SOTE Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"Here are two custom figures from the Shadows of the Empire novel and comics: DASH RENDAR and SNOOVA (Chewbacca in disguise). Dash Rendar features modern GI Joe figure super poseability. His armor and backpack are removable. Snoova features lots of articulation and his Wookiee battle axe and cape attach to his back and are removable too." I really enjoyed SOTE and all the diverse characters. If you like these customs you can even own em by going to this link.

Custom Jedi shows how great some simple fixes can be...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"A couple of simple headswaps (with some dremeling and gluing for good measure). Perhaps I should call these ongoing additions the Hasbro Should've/Could've Series." I really enjoyed his Hoth Luke and the updated soft good on ole Zuckuss you can see in the picture above.

Halnarthax87 gives us a cute change of pace...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 3 2014
"As a lad of 9, I remember the thing that struck me most about Empire Strikes Back was... Yoda sounds just like Grover!
I give you Master Elmo. I actually had a bizarre dream in which Vader demands entrance to some imperial prison cell, but the officers protest claiming the most annoying thing in the galaxy is detained within. Then a bizarre little red fuzzy humanoid bursts out and rampages through the base. And I thought huh... looked like Elmo. That'd be kinda funny if I made it into a figure." Funny and cute it is HN87!

Just where is the SDCC Jabba Set?
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 2 2014
Hasbro Toy Shop tweeted earlier this week that we would see this set show up online very soon. Well I don't know about you folks, but I tend to agree with our friends at Yakface.com (maker of the image you see above) that this has been the first time ever in the week following SDCC that they haven't put up their exclusives for order. Its always fast and furious and usually over pretty quickly, but I want to say Wednesday the week after after SDCC was the latest I have seen it offered to this point. We will just have to keep watching and let you know when it hits!

Clonehead is finding the goods at Toys R Us!

Overland Park, KS had the two three packs, eagles edge and Vipers Pit and the Olathe, KS store had only 1 each of these VS two packs, Night Marksmen and Heated Battle I think the other two may come in a later wave? May hit another TRU tomorrow to see if a truck has come in." It is great to see him finding such great stuff. I know that JOE Stuff is very popular too and it makes such great fodder for cross-over customs.

Jrny Fan is back with a 3D Printing and Death Star Play Set Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 2 2014
"Not the most exciting day making plastic. I tried a 6 hour print of the Senate podium, but canceled it mid-print. I have some problems with my model I'll have to iron out (you can see the area beneath the ornaments on the front didn't print). I've also decided to get rid of the seats inside it, to give more room for the figures to stand. I also got back to the Death Star. I've just about finished up with the top - filling in the gaps piece by tiny slow piece (which of course will be painted). Also added some filler to one of the side gaps. I'm hoping to be done with this baby by the end of next week. I'm Death-Starred out." We have all had days like those. Still, he has way more success than setbacks as far as I can see.

Custom Jedi revisits and old custom figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 2 2014
"It seems that I am having customizing ADHD at the moment. Can't seem to concentrate on a chosen project and end up picking up other side projects instead. While digging through an old fodder box I decided to use some older parts that I might not otherwise use to update a different Cantina patron. The legs come from the Jedi Luke that came with the Skiff (I think) and the torso arms and boots are from the 2004 Vintage Collection Ben Kenobi."

I-am-Boba-Fett puts her up for sale...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 2 2014
I featured a great Female NIBRID Jedi yesterday and now he has decided he is gonna part with her. "Here is a Female Jedi Knight of the Nibrid species (made up the name). I based her species name on the fact that her head looks like a female character from a 90's movie called Nightbreed." She looks like an awesome addition to any Custom Jedi Ranks. You will find here and a lot more at this eBay Link.

Bronxstalker creates a Storm Trooper A Team!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 2 2014
"Ok, so this one was originally supposed to be a Mandalorian, inspired by a Mandalorian I saw that Stronox had. As I was making him, I decided to switch gears because I also had in the back of my mind to work on a trio of troopers that used to be Storm Troopers, but were on the run (think the A-Team), so they use whatever gear they could salvage." Well I think it is a great idea and a nice tribute to Stronox, a customizer we know and like very well too.

Our friends at JTA alert us to an awesome TARGET Deal...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
Well Target vie eBay, but an awesome deal nonetheless. If you can remember the TCW Wolf Pack Set which retailed for $60 most of us liked it, but at that price most of us passed. Well now, for only 12 hours, you can get it via eBay for only $25 dollars with free shipping to boot. Now that will get some of our TCW Customizers in some fodder for awhile!

Update: Only a little less than four hours to get this. If you are a TCW Fan I would think this one would be bought in multiples.

Enjoy Episode 72 of Custom Action Figure News!

We had a great time last night talking with the super customizer himself Dayton Allen aka Sith Fire 30 about all the great new stuff we saw at SDCC 2014. It was mainly a Hasbro discussion, but we did also talk about Mattel, Sideshow, Kotobukiya, and even a few other non SW products. As always you can click on through to the ISY CAFN Archive Page to get the MP3 Download Link if you would prefer not to see the video version.

Darth Sinister is back with a great SW Marvel Custom Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
"Been steady working on an update. I finally got one of the Pirates done. This is a Crimson Jack re-boot. If some of you don't know who Captain Jack is he was the first EU character in the Star Wars Universe given to us by MARVEL comics in October of 1977. If you've never seen his original incarnation it was a bit ridiculous. Often when I read this as a kid I used to wonder if the colorist simply forgot to color Jack's legs blue/black like the rest of him. After a while you realize this dude's got no pants. Why would a guy go into space without pants? Like Padme said to little Anni "space is cold". Yikes." His version is just fantastic!

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with a new custom...

"Here is a Female Jedi Knight of the Nibrid species (made up the name). I based her species name on the fact that her head looks like a female character from a 90's movie called Nightbreed. I really like how she turned out." I do too!

Darth Optimus is back with a new Mando!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
"How's about a Mando? E'rybody loves Mandos! This is Ry Geth, Mando merc under the employ of "The Heartless" squad. The Heartless mark their armor with a blood-red "X" on the left-side of their chest piece. Ry utilizes an variant of the "standard" Mando beskar'gam, which is an alloy. He also uses a winged repulsor pack for added flight time (which also gives him the option to hover longer). The wing pack has earned him the nickname "Raptor". His weapons of choice are a human-sized bowcaster and a semi-circular "moonblade" forged of pure beskar." Wow is all I have to say!

Killer Panda shows my type of work in progress...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
"Long time since my last post but work and family takes time from this hobby. Well here is a WIP I call it AT-HK an early stage concept that requires a lot of work to do but I thought it would be nice to share it with the forum. Any suggestions or comments are really appreciated." Well I think it is fantastic and I can wait to see how it is finished. The full recipe is at the aforementioned link.

Darth Crassus shows us his new Action Fleet Foxcatch...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
"This ship only appeared briefly in the Twin Engines of Destruction comic in which Boba Fett takes out imposter Jodo Kast. The ship has a neat design and I always wanted a toy version of it. I sacrificed an Imperial Shuttle and three X-Wings to make this one." I didn't even know this ship existed, but wow does it look good and it makes me want them to bring Action Fleet back!

Hasbro Toy Shop.com posts new wave of Black Series 3 and 3/4 inch wave...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 1 2014
I haven't heard of these hitting the pegs yet, but between various etailers and now even Hasbrotoyshop.com you can add some of the newest wave of figures to your collection. I would guess that new Snow Trooper Commander is probably gonna be the hot one on the list, but I look for most of these to be gone before the morning is over so get your order in now if you would like. Still no SDCC Jabba yet, but don't worry I am trying hard to watch for that one too.
