YakFace shares his TFA Melted Vader Helmet...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 31 2015
"Been a few years since I have posted anything new on the yards. Last time I was only doing 1:18th scale customs but I have been busy working in the theme park fabrication industry in Orlando Fl and have got a whole new set of skills. I just finished my first 1:1 scale Star Wars prop from The Force Awakens, Darth Vaders melted helmet. The original sculpture was all hand done in Chavante modeling clay and has a removable top dome that reveals details seen in ROTJ. I molded the entire piece using a "glove" mold technique so their are not seem lines in the final casting."

Folks click here to go see how you can own one of these bad boys! So cool! And he is asking what you think.

The Iron Panda is back with an awesome AT-ST Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 31 2015
"Finally, my Bandai AT-STs are finished. I couldn`t resist building two so I can show different weathering-patterns
the build was absolutely straightforward, so I could rush my way to the painting sessions.as usual everything is acrylic paint (Gunze Sangyo)applied with an airbrush. I did some more Color modulation than I normally do,but still keeping the effect subtle enough. I used Vallejos special effekts Paint set for the first time and I can highly recommend it.for the Base i used PE Fern and lasercut Oak leaves.
i think i will buy a third one, displaying it with the hatches open maybe...?"

TS Hobbies makes 6" First Order AF Stands!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 29 2015
I ordered one for my SDCC Trooper a few weeks ago and after getting in both colors (Thanks TS Hobbies) I must say these are really nice. I can't decide which color I like best!

I haven't ordered from Robot Kingdom myself and I think they ship from Hong Kong, but they are listing these as in stock for those who missed out from HTS yesterday.

Gold Leader One shows us a TIE Droid...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 29 2015
"I recently purchased a TIE Droid resin kit from Scale Solutions on ebay. This came in 3 parts, the 2 wings and the main body of the ship. First I washed it with dish soap as it was a bit greasy. I let it sit overnight, then primed it with some black spray paint from Games Workshop Paints. Again I let it sit but for 2 days this time. Lastly I gave it a blueish-gray paint job with the color Fenrisian Gray. I also added in some gray details around the cockpit and the back with Codex Gray. For the first time painting a resin kit, I think I did an alright job.

Ever since playing Rogue Squadron I always wanted a TIE Droid in Action Fleet form. This TIE Droid is in scale with the other Action Fleet TIEs, so this is close enough. A very cool piece. I'm just trying to figure out how to get it on an Action Fleet stand now."

Looks like a great project to me!

Sjefke shows us how he did it!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
"I promised a while back to share this technique with ISY. I used it for my Cane Adiss heads, but you could apply it to any creature that requires a long flexible body part, like a Dionaga neck or Oppo Ranciss' tail."

See how he added the articulation and the skin to Cane's neck was fantastic. Talk about getting some lead in your butt too!

Ron Hembling continues to work on his 6" Imperial Shuttle Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
"The pilots are complete and now secured inside the cockpit.

The pilots have had the joints super glued and then instead of putty I used plastacine as these will not be moved at all and then I covered the uniform areas with tissue paper.

The figures were given a simple job and were painted using Vallejo paints and the transfers on the left side of the helmets are from Games Workshop and the lines were firstly drawn on by using a led pencil then I painted over the pencil line."

They look pretty daggone awesome to me!

Bronxstalker is working on a great Ithorian...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
"Here's my update on Del Moomo. Obviously still a WiP, but I'm getting close to finishing him. I still have quite a bit of sculpting to do on the arms, arm bands, shoulder pads, etc. I also need to create his red scarf that he has. After that, just a few more odds and ends, and then time for painting."

I don't think I have ever seen our Hammerhead looking quite so tough! I can't wait to see the final reveal.

Custom Jedi gives us a Labria makeover...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
"Labria was not on my "to-do" list, but when I asked my friends on Facebook and Instagram he came out at the top of a short list of makeovers people wanted to see. This is another "do the best you can with what you've got" custom. He'll be comprised of parts that are already in the fodder box. I'm using the POTF2 Cantina Aliens 3 pack version for the torso and head, Jedi Luke arms and Bom Vimdin legs. I had to sculpt a new neck peg to ball joint the head (which will get a full repaint)."

It looks like its gonna be another fantastic project.

Viceroy Gunray shows us his acrylic painting...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
"Back in high school I was really into art, and particularly found my passion and stride in acrylic painting. Never was too great of a drawer, but found it easier to get dimensions and scaling right painting. Inevitably, when I got into things a few years later, I decided to go with a genre I had just as much of a passion for; Star Wars.

The First SW painting I worked on was Viceroy Nute Gunray, of course! Think it came out pretty well."

Yes, I do too. Please join me in welcoming a new member to the Yards!

Well the SDCC TFA Stormtrooper sold out in what felt like seconds!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 28 2015
We all got up early to be ready, we all were logged in and made sure our payment information was up to date, and then we waited and waited and waited and refreshed what felt like a million times. Then, we see it go live, get it in our cart and see the dreaded whirly gig. For me, by the time it got there it was sold out. Congratulations to those who were able to get theirs!

And don't worry we are sure gonna see a few stragglers show up again, but right now I am not too hopeful to get my order in. Ah, the trials and tribulations of being a SW Collector!

Our Facebook Page is blowing up with just a ton of disappointed collectors. I can sure associate folks!

Butterfingers is back with a huge Clone Trooper Update!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 26 2015
"Well, here is another update. It will probably be my last one for awhile, but hopefully I can squeeze in sometime in between school and work."

The Spectre creates new Tolkien display...

Sounds great to me. I can't wait to see him add more.

JDeck shows us an R5-D4!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 26 2015
"Im building a Bandai R5-D4 just for fun. I was really disappointed that he did not have a "bad motivator" option, so I just went ahead and made one. The bad motivator is what makes him R5-D4. I also gave him a restraining bolt from the C3PO kit. Even though for some reason he didn't have one in the movie. It was a fun little Saturday build."

These Bandai Astros look so good to me and JDeck souped him up even more!

Ron Hembling gives us a new 6" Shuttle Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 25 2015
"I have done the chairs and as you can see they are very basic but I didn't want to go to over board with them as the you won't see them once the window and the hull are connected. The chairs have been made totally from plasti card.

The pilots are a mash up of Hasbro's Stormtroopers and Scouttroopers with casts of the Tie pilot which were done by Clonehead and he did an awesome job the casts are very crisp and clean cheers mate. I have super glued the joints and will putty and cover the joints over the next few days."

Talk about a project that is really making me envious. A six inch Imperial Shuttle Build!

Stan shows us some great Rebel Pilot Helmet work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 25 2015

Talk about fantastic! The helmets look awesome!

Star Alien 70 shows us its all in the fine details...

"I also wanted to improve the soft goods skirt on the Han Hoth from ’The search for Luke Skywalker’ Target multipack, so I replaced it with a longer one made from pieces of TLC Bail Organa robe (which is quite a good colour match)."

I am still marveling at the version he showed us yesterday too. That same link will show you much of the work in progress for that figure too.

Mandalore25 shows us his final entry in the latest custom challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 24 2015
"Behold my Basilisk War Droid. I'm beyond proud of it, I think it turned out fantastic! I think I meet the scratch build, it's main body, and arms are mandroid, the hands are from the marvel goblin baf, the little legs are from battle droids, the tubing is lego, the frame for the tail is actually made out of a toy lobster, the nose guns are two dark trooper blasters, the other guns are made from two cw kit fisto jetpacks, the jets on the back are crayola marker caps, and all the armor/coverings I made fro sheets of styrene."

Talk about being one fantastic piece of work, wouldn't we all buy one of these in a heartbeat if Hasbro made one! EU rules so much. Great work M25. Don't forget folks today is the last day to enter your work. After that I want to present them all and then we can get to voting for the challenge winners!

Star Alien 70 unhinges my jaw with his new Hoth Han!

"Hi, thanks again for your feedback and features, I really do appreciate them. Here’s a customized Han in Hoth Gear with soft goods coat, to go with the Luke in Hoth Gear I did with the modified Hoth cap."

Folks the level of detail on this figure is downright flabbergasting! I don't know if I have seen this figure done in any scale with this much attention to the smallest item. The recipe is in there too!

OC47150 is back with some new Jedi...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 24 2015
"One of my favorite Clone Wars comic storylines was the battle of Jabiim, in particular when the padawans were on their own and have to fight. This is an Aqualish Jedi who fought in the battle. Used a ROTS Mace Windu body."

I really like the look of this one. Don't forget to take a look at all the new ones though!

"Here's a custom figure of Mandalorian mad scientist DEMAGOL. This custom figure features an all new helmet sculpt that I made a mold of and then made a resin cast head that is seen on this finished figure. All new torso sculpt that I made a mold of and resin cast. The figure's shoulders and medical bracer on his left forearm are all sculpted by me too. The hoses running from his chest box to his helmet are made of very thinly rolled green stuff epoxy. I also made Demagol's Laser Bone Saw surgical tool that is seen in a reference pic down below."

"I made these speeders for my troopers. I can't let them walk in the desert to searching for the droids..I hope they will find what they looking for!"

I sure hope so too. I am really liking these vehicle posts by new member larifari!

Nicholas Sagan shows us a new model...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 23 2015
"Amazing what happens with a good base kit and a little bit of effort! This is the Stellar Envoy, as seen briefly in Star Wars Episode III. Didn’t catch it?? It’s flying up to the loading docks at the senate during the first exterior shot of the building…Anyway, the Stellar Envoy later became the Millennium Falcon. You can also read more about the ship’s history in the book, Millennium Falcon (of course)."

It looks great and I didn't even know this about the Falcon's history.

Hot Toys Leia!

Hot Toys showcases a gallery of the new Leia!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 23 2015
We knew this one was coming, but she sure looks great, with E-11 Blaster and all! I have to admit a few of the pictures her face looks a little off, but the others she looks spot on?

We asked a build a figure question during SDCC and they said, "No, not at this time." I guess they changed their minds in the interim!

The Force Awakens to see Build a Weapon packs!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 23 2015
From Rebelscum, "The mission Series two packs in Hasbro's The Force Awakens collection will include build-a-weapon pieces. Collectors that purchase all six sets in the Jungle / Space, and Snow / Desert assortments will be able to assemble a large weapon (presumably) seen in the upcoming feature film. All these new Mission Series two packs are expected to hit the shelves on September 4th for $14.99 each as part of the Force Friday event."

We asked a question like this during SDCC and they wouldn't touch it. Guess they were talking about six inch, but cmon Hasbro!

Uh, color me impressed!

Fantastic Creations creates huge AT-AT!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 23 2015
I saw this on Facebook last night and just about lost it! You can see the scale of this beast with the one image with the human in it. The detail looks fantastic on this as well. Oh yes, I will be following this build!

Rest assured your order will be handled promptly and professionally and show up to your door in awesome shape. Personally I have never had an issue with any order. I have even been contacted by MWC's Customer Service just to make sure some items I ordered showed up ok. I liked that a good bit!

Jaya shows us his entry for the latest Custom Challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 22 2015
"In star wars I'd seen myself as an inquisitor

Inquisitor Jaya

Order 66: He was not killed by his clones like most masters and knights, near Chancellor Palpatine, it felt a share dark in this jedi knight and gave him the opportunity to become one of the very first inquisitor."

It looks fairly spot on with his reference image he posted. I enjoy this as I get to see what many of the Shipyarders look like too!

JDeck updates us on his Jawa...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 22 2015
"I got my Jawa Robe yesterday so I've been altering the scratch figure and the robe to make it acceptable. I'm not quite finished but this is the gist of it. I may build him a bandolier of some type and fix the way the robe fits. Personally I'm very happy with the way it is turning out, and I'm my own biggest critic. The last picture features him with a crude bandolier I made from a stormtrooper belt. I may alter it more to suit my liking."

How cool is this! Those eyes look so cool. I am really enjoying his six inch Jabba the Hutt Diorama.

Ajunta Pall is back with new EU Work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 22 2015
Enjoy his XENDOR the General of the Legions of Lettow. I must say he has a great mega update here for quite a few EU Characters. I am liking that Anakin Solo too.

DaBooma shows us how he enjoys a vacation!

"Just came back from a beach vacation, and was working on a custom based on a favorite t-shirt of mine made by CHUNK, a surf trooper, prior to going."

He liked him so much he took him on his trip. I must say he looks spot on to me. Good to see you back DaBooma!

Big Padawan Customs shows us its all about the parts!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"Heres a new custom kitbash. Great parts combo on this Chagrian Jedi. More to come."

Sometimes it doesn't take lots of cutting and painting and sculpting to make an excellent new custom figure. I like the combos on this one!

Ron Hembling gives us a new 6" Shuttle Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"Another small update, I have painted all the panels and consoles and attached them into the cockpit. Next up is the centre console and chairs."

I can't even begin to describe the epic coolness this build is oozing!

Ajunta Pall isn't waiting for Force Friday!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"A few TFA customs Finn and Rey, I will post updates on Kylo Ren later hopefully."

Talk about TFAntastic! It can be a word if I want it to be word! This particular customizer has really been on fire as of late. He loves all timelines and genres and is gunning it wide open!

We welcome Larifari to the customizing family!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"This is my speeder from the trailer of the Force Awakens. Made by paper, glue and anything what i find at home. Enjoy!"

Wow, now that is what I would say is a wonderful scratch build. Please stop by and let this new member know what you think and introduce yourself!

Jetpack Blues is back with a new six inch Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"I decided I may be able to salvage the clone head. And since I figured this marines squad could use a flame trooper I did a quick slap together of what that figure will essentially be comprised of. I'm not sure though if the squads camo scheme will work on this guy as a flame unit. i guess i will find out. here's the mockup of the GM Flame Trooper."

I am still marveling at his time lapse video of the last post I did on JPB, but I am so glad he decided to continue this next build too. I think it will look great with the camo scheme or even a regular trooper wrap. I wonder if he will put little flames on him? I guess that might be a bit much?

Spuda Fett finishes his Swoop Bike for the latest challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"Got the swoop bike finished. It's quite a beast, much larger than I had really planned. Barely fit in my light box! Here are my final entry highlight photos."

Ain't just the spitting six inch version of the smaller one we all played with in the 3.75" Scale! Absolutely fantastic. Remember folks this one is over on the 24th so don't forget to post your entries.

STan is back with another great ROTJ Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015
"Herr the next up is Yoxgit. Top half is from Mosep and the bottom torso and top of legs are from Jabba Skiff guard. The head and the bottom of of legs are from the ugnaught from the legacy. The belt is from the torture chamber. The trickiest thing on this figures was the paint; it a cob inaction of fire red and melon. I had fun with this one."

Having fun is the reason for the hobby, but quality like this has to just put a big ole smile on anyone's face. Oh Hasbro!

Spuda Fett soups up an Unleashed Boba Fett...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 21 2015

JDeck is making great progress on his 6" Jabba's Palace Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"I got most of Jabba's BBQ done. I could do a lot more but how much time do I put into a background piece. I think it looks pretty good, better than I expected anyway. I do need to add the rotisserie drive belt and some other things."

Wow, is that 6" Oala great or what! I can't wait to see this finished. He is taking out all the stops on this one!

Custom Jedi completes his Hammerhead!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"I was able to complete Momaw Nadon yesterday. Much of the skin tone is Hasbro's original paint work. I just blended my tans and greys in with it to hide the new elbows and knees. The cloting was completely repainted to match the added soft goods. I was smart enough to save the fabric I removed from Zuckuss when I replaced his skirt last year. I don't need all of my cantina patrons to have super-articulation. I just want them to be able to sit."

Hear that Hasbro? We would like our action figures to be able to sit!

Ron Hembling updates us on his 6" Shuttle Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"Another update, I have completed the wall panels and flight consoles and just need to do the centre console.

The wall panels were done buy cutting out foam core and the flight consoles are thin cardboard and they were detailed by using plasti card, 1/72, 1/35, 1/18 and 1/6 scale bits and pieces.

Once I do the centre console I will be painting the panels and consoles. I have also added to ceiling light using small LED's and powered by a 9v battery which will be hidden inside a hidden compartment.

The design of the panels and consoles are completely off the hat except for the white boarder lines."

I like Ron's off the hat. His work is always so fantastic!

Koth finishes his Astro-Mech Customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"Here are the bodies....M5-BZ, R0-TC, R2-CK, Blue Leader, Courier

M5-BZ is a Delta Squad droid (hatch not removable). R0-TC is based on the Y-Wing Fighter from the Original Trilogy Collection (hence the name). R2-CK is a checkerboard design to go with my black and white R2-CQ. He's supposed to be more industrial. Blue Leader is from a design in a Y-Wing model used in the Battle of Yavin. Luke Sprywalker has also done a custom of him. Courier is from Rebels. Now looking for another Chopper to repaint."

These turned out fantastic. I am always in awe of someone who can work with the fine details it takes on three and three quarter astros!

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with a new droid...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"Here's a custom PLNK DROID that I made for a fellow customizer. The external fuel tank and radar dish are resin cast pieces also made by me. That fuel tank and all of the other accessories can be magnetically attached/detached from different magnetic areas on this custom droid! It still has poseable legs. The top cover can be removed to reveal the internal components of this droid! Poseable legs. I also made the REBEL SOLDIER custom figure seen in the pics."

Both new customs look fantastic to me.

Jetpack Blues blows me away with his time lapse video...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
He used some type of camera to do a time lapse video (assuming his smart phone) to create just an awesomely compressed video of the start to finish process on a new Galactic Marine. Just seeing him showcase his camo paint apps was fantastic, but this one gives you the whole thing from start to finish!

Star Alien 70 is back with more ROTJ work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
"Here are some pics of a couple of Jabba’s Palace figures that I started a while ago and have just finished. A generic Skiff Guard, based on Velken Tezeri and Nizuc Bek."

He also has one of Jabba's Dancers and some great Endor Soldier work up for perusal too. I do enjoy seeing some of these more obscure OT Characters and must admit I so wish one of them could win a fans choice poll as this is about the only way we will ever see them make the pegs other than great customizing we see here!

Ajunta Pall has a ton of updates...

From KOTOR to Sith like Darth Scion you see above this one is chock full of custom goodness. I must say I really enjoy seeing his wide range of characters he chooses to customize. To say he is wide open is an understatement.

JKNO compares 1:6 Scale Stormtroopers to the new Hot Toys Version...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 19 2015
I definitely count Serg as among one of the most thorough when it comes to comparing movie accuracy on OT Imperial Troopers to licensees making them in the various scales. His latest review compares the Hot Toys Stormtrooper to its Sideshow and Marmit counterparts. I must say it is ver thorough right down to comparing the blasters and all parts that are a part of the armor. I found it very educational!

The Iron Panda is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 18 2015
"Hey there, sorry for my absence here in the past month, but work and family got me too busy. Anyway, I managed to built my first of the new Bandai SW-Kits, and its the 1:48 Snowspeeder, of course...I built it straight out of the box, but with only one painting option being provided in the kit (Luke's with the Grey Stripes) I painted my stripes orange and used only the Stencil-Decals from the Kit, painting and weathering is done as usual, nothing dramatic here..."

It is great to see the Iron Panda back. I am still playing catch up with all the great customs postings since I have been gone. I am almost caught up!

Mandalore 25 shows us a Sith...

I agree with him. I think we all need more Sith in our lives!

Spuda Fett paints up another Command Series...

I sure agree with him. They look so much better to me with paint on em. I might have collected this line if they had color like Devin's!

Spuda Fett finishes the build part of his Challenge Entry...

Ron Hembling is working a 6" Scale Imperial Shuttle!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 18 2015
"I have been wanting to do a 6" shuttle since I got my hands on the Hasbro's BS 6" Sandtroopers, this build was going to be for the contest but due to time and work I have just started it and won't have it completed on time.

The shuttle will be my own design but will have some similar aspects to it which I will take from the lambda and sentinel class shuttles. This will also be for a dio that I am doing as well and the shuttle will be made from foam core/plastic and PVC pipes."

Uh what can you say other wow and this looks epic!

Custom Jedi is adding movement to an Ithorian!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 18 2015

Stan is back with some droid work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 18 2015
"I finish up on the Lars power droid, this project took about 5 weeks, challenge this was. Parts are from all over the place! Han torture chamber, hoses. radar dishes are from the falcon from hot wheels, the front facings are combination from Torture chamber and Ig-86 inner arms and legs socket. Ballpoint pen inner servers for the curly wire on front. I created the graphics and had them sent to Bedlam creations, thanks Josh!! Of course I use the vintage power droid topping to give it a vintage feel to it!"

I think it really turned out great. Look at that parts list!

Bronxstalker is back with a new Mando...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 18 2015
"I hope you guys don't tire from seeing yet another Mandalorian. And yes, I will be making even more.
Anyway, here goes my latest Mandalorian. Same deal as usual, I started with a base GI Joe figure, some sculpting, acrylic paints, and weathering to get the typical Mandalorian battle worn look. Under the helmet is an Alpha Blanx head, and I slice down his eye to give him a scar (hard to see in the images). This is the first time I used a metallic gold on a mandalorian."

That gold sure looks great to me. I never get tired of seeing his new Mandalorians. If you really like this one, he already has it posted up for sale!

Seeings lots of progess on the Self Custom/Scratch Built Vehicle Challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 17 2015
Mandalore 25 gives us a great rendition of a Bassilisk War Droid, "Painted my war droid green, and put the arms, legs, and head piece on. Really looking like it's supposed to, added the miniature near it in the first pic for reference, and put a measurement in the second for good measure ;D, so it's just short of 8"."

And if you are going to do a scratch built vehicle folks, please make sure you check the challenge requirements here as we have seen a couple entries that are not quite scratch builds or meet the 6" dimension requirement. I hate seeing awesome work not able to be used so be sure to check if you are not sure or before you begin your build. And hurry up, there are only 7 days left!

We welcome Drakos to our customizing family...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 17 2015
"A bit about me: I've been a collector for the past 5-6 years, but I haven't really gotten much into customization aside from the occasional kit-bashing. Partly because I didn't want to mess with the figures that I have, wanting to preserve their character, and partly because I didn't know what materials to use and where to get them (I'm from the Philippines).

A few years ago, I tried painting, with mixed results, I used regular art acrylics and couldn't find/ didn't know what sealant/fixative to use for the paint, so after my small project then, I didn't attempt any other venture since then.

A year ago I bought a small pack of sculpey, but haven't tried using it yet because of mixed reviews online as to how to harden it WITHOUT using an oven and because of a lack of confidence. Recently, I was able to acquire some epoxy, and so I decided to try playing around with that, thus rekindling my curiousity and desire to customize."

Well first off, welcome to ISY! Second, I am really enjoying your sculpting work so far. Folks help me in welcoming Drakos to ISY!

Don't forget we ask Hasbro our questions today and I will admit I snuck a couple extra in there after seeing the presentation from the Big H!

Hasbro steals day 3 of SDCC with their great TFA 6" TIE Fighter and Pilot unveiling!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
I am still reeling over this great new scale of vehicles they are producing and even at a reported $170 price point I do not see how I cannot add this to my collection. And while my main reason is because its cool and I want to start a First Order Trooper Collection (I know, I know!) if this one sells well we can reason that we can see other vehicles of this scale at retail. I mean, how long will it be till that TIE has an X-Wing chasing it? Chime in on your thoughts about this new vehicle in our forums!

Starchaser shows back up with some new customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
"It's been awhile. Life has been more than a little busy with not a lot of time for customizing. I have managed a couple in recent days so I thought I would post them.

First, a fun little custom using the head off the comic pack Yuuzhan Vong (with some modifications) and the body of a Mawhonic (and a little purple and gray paint)."

There are three other great new customs to peruse when you hit the aforementioned link. I like em all!

Ron Hembling finishes his Stormtrooper Han Solo Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
"I figured I would start a new dio section as the other one was 63 pages long. To start of the new section here is Han in Stormtrooper disguise."

Wow, what a great accomplishment. 63 Pages worth of Dioramas. If you haven't seen all his work yet what a treat you are in for.

I-am-Boba-Fett gives us an EU Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
"Here's a custom MARASIAH FEL figure that I made awhile back but never posted anywhere until now. This character is from the Star Wars Legacy comic books. This custom figure features an all new head and upper torso by me, soft goods skirt for better articulation, and a lightsaber."

It sure looks great to me. We so need more female action figures in our SW verse!

Bronxstalker is back with a Galen Marek...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
"Ok, I'm finally done with my custom Galen Marek figure. I'm REALLY happy with how he came out. The sculpting, the paint job, even the real leather that I used adds to the look of the figure. I love the little things I did to make him stand out, like using mini magnets to attach the shoulder pad. That way, he has full range of motion of his arm, and the shoulder pad always stays on without risk of snapping off, or hindering motion. I like him so much, that I plan on making another one."

Matter of fact if you like him very much you can go to eBay and own him!

Spuda Fett paints up some Command Series...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 11 2015
"Been a while since I had a vehicle on my workdesk. I got a pack of the command game from walmart because they were marked down to 11 bucks and thought it'd be fun to paint them up. So here's the first one, the x-wing."

Looks fantastic to me. Wow, paint has made a huge difference to me on these!

"I haven't posted anything new in 6 months. I haven't been idle but real life has been in the way of customizing. Not all of it was work. 8, and I have managed to finish a few projects, finally. I regret my challenge vehicle is nowhere near ready for showing.

Here's a WIP on a side project I started while on vacation. I picked up a POTF2 Yakface on eBay. The original figure lacks detail, but the form of the head is pretty good. It's mostly hidden below the overstated whiskers. Well I gave him a shave and whittled in some detail. When I got home, I did some dremeling, sanding and some cautious painting.

I like how this is turning out. Since I haven't posted anything in so long, I thought I'd share some WIPs. Of course he'll have an SA body and some more supple whiskers eventually."

Doesn't that head sculpt look fantastic! And I am gonna interupt this con this morning for some much needed custom postings!

I can't imagine the sorrow some fans, many of whom may have only gone to SDCC just for the trooper, must be feeling right now. He is trying to get further confirmation, but the board at the Hasbro Toy Shop Booth says the SDCC First Order Trooper is sold out for the rest of the convention! Stay tuned folks.

UPDATE: It seems this was just a false alarm and Hasbro has stated they have more!

Starchaser creates two customs of himself for the latest challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 10 2015
"So...I was planning to build myself as a figure and do a scratch vehicle build for myself (as a figure). I have assembled all the parts for the vehicle, but time is against me and there is virtually no way to finish the vehicle before the deadline - I might just have to finish it at the end of the summer and post it post-contest. In the meantime, I have done figures of myself (the real me and the Star Wars me). I've been told by several people that I somewhat resemble Ewan McGregor, so that is convenient. Anyway, I've got a figure of myself in lecture mode and a figure of myself as Jedi."

Trust me you will see by his reference image he is indeed a young Obi-Wan! Great stuff, don't forget time is running down to post your entry in our latest challenge!

My pal Dayton Allen aka SithFire30 plugged this one last night and we weren't sure whether this was in the 6 inch or 12 inch scale. All I know is compared to the size of the gal in the pic it looks huge. Fingers crossed they make a Walker (sorry you know I was thinking it anyway)!

-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 9 2015
I kinda figured it would work out this way. If you can get yourself up in the queque at SDCC you will have the opportunity to get two First Order Troopers. Good luck congoers!

Looks like it got hairy in the Hasbro Line. Folks, be careful if you are at SDCC. There is no action figure in the world worth getting hit or robbed over. Stay safe out there folks!

Posted by Imperial Shipyards on Thursday, July 9, 2015

Hasbro Line sounds scary at SDCC!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 9 2015
I was reading a few articles this morning about the ridiculous behavior being displayed by a few of the con goers no doubt trying to get their hands on the new First Order Trooper. It seems the folks in the article above probably will never appreciate that new trooper after all the trouble they had to endure to get it. It saddens me to think we have SW Fans out there that would resort to violence to get a 6" piece of plastic. Stay safe out there folks!

JDeck is showing progress on his Jabba's Palace Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, July 8 2015
"I started on Oola's outfit. I just used fishnet stockings and string pretty much what the original costume was. Its just soft goods in scale, it never looks great but, I did my best. I'm still clipping the little strings waiting for the epoxy to come in so i can start the head sculpt. The last photo is with some grey wet washes on the costume it looks better wet, I may add a little glue wash so it adheres better, instead of being loose. This is a little unprecedented, I haven't seen an Oola in this scale."

It looks like great progress to me!

"The next adventure in the Anthology series of Star Wars films will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, whose credits include the critically acclaimed The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. Among the most sought-after filmmakers working today, the two have proven a formidable duo in film and television and are looking forward to applying their unique sensibilities to the Star Wars Universe.

The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

Slated for a 5/25/18 release, the film will be executive produced by Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin and co-produced by Will Allegra."

Ron Hembling updates us on his Stormtrooper Han Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 7 2015
"The dio is now 95% complete I just have to add a little highlighting to the grill section and then I will take my usual out door pics.

The walls were sprayed using Tamiya's IJN GRAY and I gave it 3 coats and once dry the floor was painted Raven Black and then the dio was given 2 coats of Dull Coate and then a piece of clear plastic was cut to size and placed on the floor."

Talk about one fantastic Death Star Dio!

I-am-Boba-Fett is back...

"Here is a custom GAND JEDI MASTER that I named BRAETHHIK. A fully poseable figure with bending/swiveling knees in his legs under his soft goods lower robe. Custom lightsaber and a Jedi Council chair are included. Custom graphic on his right forearm armor. Gand have three fingers on each hand so I sculpted the correct amount of three fingers on each hand of this custom figure. He is FOR SALE at my ebay store here."

Gold Leader One updates an AF Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, July 7 2015
"I decided to take some Shipyarders advice from a while back and update my TIE Experimental M3, or "TIE Warhead" custom. Back then all I did was repaint the rocket pods (from a Warhammer 40K set) which came in a very dark gray color. I never had a color that matched the TIEs so I was stuck. Finally I found Celestra Gray and used that to repaint the whole TIE Interceptor, as well as the rocket pods. I dabbed a bit of red paint on the back, and repainted the back of the engine black. Some paint got on the black panels, and I easily painted them back to black. Lastly I super glued the pods to the sides of the TIE and sprayed it with a matt varnish spray to prevent chipping.

So I present to you my (updated) TIE Experimental M3, or "TIE Warhead" custom from X-Wing Alliance."

Looks great to me!

Custom Jedi is back with a Spacer Update...

Wow, it sure is a huge makeover compared to his first version!

Ron Hembling starts a Stormtrooper Han Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, July 6 2015
"Started another small dio and figure and this time it's Han in Stormtrooper disguise, I have completed Han and now I'm 80% completed on the base.

Han - the body is from Bandai and the head is from Hasbro's 6" BS, I repainted the 6" head has the sculpt underneath the crappy factory paint is very good.

I re-sculpted the neck covering using AVES putty and drilled a hole and inserted wire into that, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the head so it can be removed. The helmet was built and glued together and once dry I drilled out the bottom so that I could also insert it onto the neck.

Base - has been built up using foam core and then added plasti card to build up the walls, the vent looking area's were done buy using fly screen and gluing that down onto some plastic card then adding frame work around that.

The floor has been painted then clear plastic added over the top, once the final stage is done the floor will be sprayed matt black then clear plastic will be again added over the top of the painted floor."

Looks fantastic already to me.

Oasis Calm Volume III continued ---- Part 2.

Commander Bly observed the pair while he followed them as a shadow. Each leaned in closely to whisper delicate words, even share several laughs. Looking closer, he saw the Chairman’s robes were not as glamorous as the temple’s initial grandeur. It seemed the prime reached its zenith decades prior; a time before sand, wind, war, and strife had taken its toll."

Darth Daddy is back with a custom vehicle!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, July 5 2015
"It's been a while since we created a custom vehicle, but when Hole in the Ground Productions released casts of their "Troop Transport" we knew it would be a great addition to our Star Wars collection. First we weathered up the cast pieces. Then, we used some decals that we purchased on eBay to accompany the stickers that were included with our original purchase to really personalize our vehicle once it was assembled. One decal set we bought had some beautiful designs that were created by the talented graphic designer Viper Aviator. We also used some reproduction decals that were from the Vintage Rebel Transport to give it the finishing touches we desired. We really love the way it turned out. It looks awesome on Elias' Hoth display shelf!"

I think it looks fantastic. I am gonna have to order one of these myself. I also liked the addition of our very own Viper Aviator's graphics to the vehicle. Make sure if you are getting said graphics off of eBay that you get em from reputable sources folks. This has been a problem for VA lately as we featured a few weeks ago.

Our friends at Yakface.com put me onto a cool SW: TFA One Sheet Deal...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 4 2015
I have been trying forever to get a one sheet regular poster for the new movies. I was bugging the manager at the local movie theater for their horrible treatment of the one they had up (it has rips and creases and dings all over it) so alas I thought it would be forever till I was able to add this to my poster collection. Well, good ole Jason (I can say that as I am old too) over at the Yak share the fact that you could get this through the Disney Movie Rewards Program.

You can sign up at the link if you are not already a member. I mean, I bought my daughter tons of Disney Movies (well I like em too) and they had Movie Rewards Certificates in em with codes that I had no idea how to use. Till today! You can also get points from taking a picture of your movie stubs and uploading them too. If I can do it its pretty easy folks.

"This dio is for a client and all I have to do now is adjust the lighting and its complete.

The base is a picture frame with built up balsa wood, the rocks I made from left over pieces of high density foam. The lava I did by painting the top and bottom of the glass and then added Woodland scenics Water effects and once dry I painted over that. Once dry I painted over the water effects.

The x-wing pilot is the Luke figure from Hasbro and I added a holster from the Bespin Luke and repainted him and added decals to the helmet and repainted it as well.

The lights are fake candle lights which I need to adjust around the base to get a better effect."

Wow, that lava work is just incredible. Leave it to Ron to make something this realistic looking! I need to go find some fake candle lights!

Ajunta Pall is back with a Mando...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 4 2015
"Next up we have some more MANDO'S."

Well you really can't get enough Mandalorian Customs in my opinion. It makes me wonder how many different Mandalorian Characters we have seen.

Ghostskull18 is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 4 2015
"I'M BACK WITH A UPDATE, DARTH MAUL AND YODA SIX INCH BLACK SERIES , YODA HEAD FROM A CANDY DISPENSER , AND THE DARTH MAUL HEAD IS FROM A PROMOTIONAL ITEM FROM JAPAN."

Not sure why is using all caps (internet yelling) for his description, but his custom figures made from those materials look pretty daggone nice. Maybe I would be yelling too! The price on the six inch Maul is downright outrageous now.

Gold Leader One shows us his updated collection...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, July 4 2015
"Finally got a clear display case and got my pilot collection out on display."

That is one great clear case to display action figures. I gotta find out who makes that and where I can get one! GL1 sure does like his Rebel Pilots!

Take a look at the First Order Stormtrooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 3 2015
Thanks to Hasbro, courtesy of Hunter PR, I got my hands on the SDCC 2015 Exclusive First Order Stormtrooper a few weeks early so I opened it up to give folks a look see. I won't say its perfect, but it is one really nice addition to the six inch figure line. It really only had one hang up. Hit the play button to see my being picky. Nice job Hasbro!

Sideshow starts orders on the 1:6 Scale Jawas!
-- Posted by
Tamer on Friday, July 3 2015
""Utinni!" A curious species, bands of greedy merchant Jawas scour the deserts of Tatooine for discarded droids and scrap machinery to repair, trade, and resell. Never seen traveling alone, the Sideshow Collectibles Jawa Sixth Scale Set includes two fully articulated individuals, each packed with personality and the ability to pose in an endless variety of positions for display. Mysteriously concealed in their traditional brown robes and bandoliers, bright LED-illuminated yellow eyes peer out from beneath the dark folds of their peaked hoods. Ready to peddle their hastily refurbished finds, the Jawas are equipped with an impressive cache of weapons and accessories, including a space thermos, welder, droid caller, magnetic restraining bolt, a blaster pistol which fits neatly in a belt holster, and a droid-stunning Ion Blaster for difficult acquisitions. Scum, villainy, and moisture farmers alike will be hard-pressed to find a better selection anywhere else!"

Talk about one awesome set. I scrolled through the images this morning and the detail on all of these items is just unparalleled.

MAXX Replicas is back with a new vehicle conversion...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 3 2015
"Today I've finished my Hasbro "Hero" Millennium Falcon conversion: The little LCD display on the base shows a CGI walkthrouth video of the Falcon."

How he takes a regular Hasbro vehicle and turns it into an ILM Movie Accurate Prop is beyond me, but to say I think it is fantastic is an understatement. I can only wonder what he will tackle next.

JDeck completed yet another diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, July 3 2015
"Alright, its more or less done. I wanted to wait until my other plant came in but I need to move on with my life. I'll add it later. He's an Imperial Marine commander assigned to Kashyyyk to defeat the Wookiee resistance. His expert use of a light repeating blaster matched with his ruthless aggression makes a worthy opponent for the Wookiee rebels."

He has really been a Kashyyyk kick lately. I think he has really captured the rain forest look I envision from this planet. He is also showing us the start of yet another diorama.

Sideshow announces Sixth Scale AT-AT Driver!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 2 2015
I logged into Facebook and saw my pal Dayton had posted this above image on my page and needless to say I think I hollered so loud they could hear me on the West Coast. He saw it posted by our good friend Jayson at Yakface.com and perhaps we can figure out a joint review when this one comes in. Needless to say I am pretty excited for more images as well as the pre-order information. Look for us to shout that from the heavens when they do start taking orders. Till then check out the preview materials directly from Sideshow. What a great day!

The Fans Choice Poll is live at Star Wars.com!

"Which icon of a galaxy far, far away will be the next to join Hasbro’s critically-acclaimed, highly-detailed, and all-around awesome Star Wars: The Black Series line of 6-inch figures? It’s up to you — starting now!

The winner will be announced at Hasbro’s San Diego Comic-Con Star Wars panel on July 10. Until then, exercise your galactic right and vote!"

It was nice to see at least a couple from our list make it! Right now it seems Darth Revan is in the lead. I hope this sends a message to Disney about the love folks have for the EU (what they are now calling Legendary Canon). Folks please make sure you vote and spread the word!

Star Alien 70 shows us the Ultimate Pilot Luke!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 2 2015
"Here is a pic showing the Luke (Echo Base Flight Gear) custom I did, with the alternate pilot parts made to interchange with it. I've narrowed the pegs on the knee, elbow and waist joints so they can be easily swapped. I would make all the individual figures for these, but I would need to sacrifice a few more Rebel Ground Crew figures to achieve that, and I quite like the idea of this being a kind of 'ultimate Luke pilot set'. (I should have put the 'Heir To The Empire' helmet in there too.)"

To say I think this is fantastic is an understatement, talk about the ultimate pilot Luke. Also to be mentioned is a continuation of the great update he did on the head sculpt of the latest Mara Jade which is now complete with a hood and googles.

JDeck finishes his Kashyyyk Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 2 2015
"Well its pretty much complete. I added some water/mud as well as some wookiees and stormtroopers. The setting of the dio is Kashyyyk 10BBY. The Empire has gained a foothole on the planet Kashyyyk, and has been using the wookiees for slave labor. A group of freedom fighter Wookiees rose up against the tyrants. Expert guerrilla fighters the wookiees ambush their enemies at the most vulnerable positions."

It looks like a movie still to me. He has to be very happy with the results. I would be!

I-am-Boba-Fett gives us an EU Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 2 2015
"I made this custom figure last year but pics of it never got posted anywhere til today. Here is a custom alien bird Jedi. I made up the name of his alien species. Here is an ARCUTRAYX JEDI MASTER. A fully poseable figure including poseable head. He features a custom lightsaber and an exclusive resin cast one solid piece hooded head that I came up with. Resin cast copies of this hooded head are available from me directly if anyone is interested in purchasing. Also this custom figure and many more are currently for sale over at eBay if anyone would like to purchase any of them."

Talk about some awesome sculpt work on this one. I can also imagine that getting this to stay upright would have been interesting too!

Ajunta Pall is back with a TCW Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, July 2 2015
"Thanks guys I appreciate the comments. My next few are touchups on some mandos I'd been working on: BO KATAN & PRE VIZSLA."

I thought it was pretty cool seeing as how Bo Katan went to Hasbro for the Fans Choice Poll for ISY. I really do love seeing her completed in a realistic style. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the TV Series, but I do have to admit when I see an action figure I hands down prefer super-articulated, realistic stylized characters over any others.
