Wow is that looking great! That synthetic fur is really giving this a realistic look.

Gold Leader One is back win an AF Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 29 2016
"I've finally done more work with my First Order TIE Fighter. My deadline for this was before TFA was released but that didn't happen lol. This was my 3rd attempt and it looks like I got it down this time. What I did this time was I sprayed it with a gray primer, as the panels would be left gray. The biggest hassle came next, I taped over all the panels and sprayed it with a black primer. I had a spare cockpit window that I placed over the TIE's cockpit so it wouldn't get hit with paint. Lastly I peeled off the tape, all I have to do now is some touch-ups where the tape overlapped.

And in keeping up with the Galoob Action Fleets of 2 figures per ship, the figures for my custom will be a TIE Pilot and General Hux. For Hux I used an Action Fleet Imperial Officer figure from the Classic Duels Falcon vs. TIE Interceptor set, the officer with the suitcase. I removed the suitcase and super-glued a cape from a Vader figure. Here's a quick look."

Such a great line; Action Fleet. Just saying out loud again Hasbro!

I had an awesome experience today representing the The 501st Legion today at the Are You Tough Enough Boy Scout Troop today. It was such an awesome experience. Lets just say Star Wars is loved by all!

I represent the 501st Legion today...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 28 2016
Well I achieved a bucket list dream today and trooped my first event representing the esteemed five oh one. There was a Boy Scout Major Event held in my own backyard so I took the opportunity to take my own advice and represent.

Folks to say it was fun was an understatement. After doing this all I can say is our hobby is alive and well. Our beloved Star Wars is definitely well known and loved by all age ranges. Seeing the look of wonder in those young ones eyes as I walked around and waved was absolutely awesome. I highly, highly recommend you check out your local 501st Garrison today and have even more fun with Star Wars!

The Spectre creates an awesome creature and back story!

"Excerpt From The "Galactic Geographic (Fifth Edition)" Entry "Major Fauna Of Tolkien III: Part XXI":

"Giant leeches can be found in caves across the whole of Tolkien III. They range in size from .25m to 9m in length and come in several radically different appearing subspecies.

Giant leeches attack their prey and drain them of blood for nourishment. The smaller subspecies tend to attack in groups or swarms and can overwhelm a standard sized sentient with ease. The larger subspecies tend to be solitary, able to capture prey on their own due to their larger size and strength.

Some subspecies use bioluminescence to lure in prey, possessing tentacles, cilia and even tongues that emit their own light in the dark realms in which they live.

Some of the largest subspecies build nests of their own mucus deep in the darkest, dankest caves. They remain enshrouded in these cocoons, lying in wait for hapless animals or adventurers to stumble upon them, luring them in with their bioluminescent appendages. These large specimens could be thousands or solar years old as giant leeches have long life spans unless they are killed by questing heroes."

The Giant Leech Of Tolkien III

The cranial tentacles and tongue glow in the dark."

Folks this is absolutely fantastic! From the additional features, sculpt work, paint job, etc. there is just a ton of extra work put into this that really makes it something special. It is hard to believe this started out as a clearance aquarium store find! Great work Dan!

MAXX Replicas is back with a new Falcon...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 28 2016
"Here's my new (2nd) Hasbro Hero Falcon conversion. This time I've used new 3D-printed parts which are much more movie-accurate."

Wow, talk about some intricate work including a lighted cockpit! MR just takes regular Hasbro Vehicles and turns them into something worthy of Industrial Light and Magic!

JDeck shows us a Rebel Alliance AAT...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 28 2016
"I'm in the middle of a Rebel Alliance AAT diorama. I just repainted the Revell AAT, I didn't do anything to the mechanics of the vehicle. Im building this Dantooine grassland dio to go with it. I have to lay each grass tuft, so it'll take a while."

The image of the Rebels looking up through the tufts of grass is great! I like the concept of using ships from older star wars eras and drafting them into the Rebel Army. Thats what I envision them doing!

I-am-Boba-Fett is back with a ROTJ Mercenary...

I can definitely see this guy on a Skiff!

Looks pretty nice to me!

This is really shaping up nicely. What a great way to accent the Carbonite Han!

Custom Creator is back with a new diorama wip...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 26 2016
"Back at it again on a bit smaller scale. Facebook user John Connor had a nice little stairwell made for him that I liked so much, I was inspired to create one of my own. This will probably be the quickest dio for me in a long time. 2 nights and already slinging paint.....but still a bit of a ways off."

It is good to see him back working on another great project! I really like the look of it so far.

New page added to Star-Fall the Comic!

Aves explains Humans to baby Nef and introduces us to a brand new character - one that the Yarders have already met as a custom figure."

It looks fantastic!

Panther adds some leds to his latest diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 26 2016
"To give Han that ominous look, I've invested in an LED kit. While I'm still trying to get the lighting angles right, the set is still held together with masking tape. I might change the top LED to white (or possibly a blue) light, build in the overhang with the three windows to give it the "natural light" look. Then move the current top LED to underneath the carbonite block, lighting the back wall from underneath.

I welcome any suggestions and ideas with this from my fellow yarders!"

I love the look of the lights myself!

Pre-Order Sideshow's 1/6 Scale R5-J2...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 26 2016
"Joining Sideshow's acclaimed Star Wars Sixth Scale Collection is the R5-J2 Imperial Astromech Droid.

Making a brief appearance in the opening of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, this sleek black and copper colored repair droid was stationed on the second Death Star during the battle of Endor. Built slightly larger than the Imperial R2-Q5 unit, the R5-J2 Sixth Scale Figure measures roughly 8.6 inches tall and features hinged panels, retractable treads, and a unique swiveling trapezoid-shaped head. Not even a memory inhibitor could keep this droid from bringing personality and charm to your Star Wars collection."

I think it looks fantastic.

Ron Hembling finishes his latest TIE Crash Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 25 2016
"Hi All,

The dio is complete and is called RESCUE.

As mentioned before it depicts a Tie fighter going down in the desert and after a few days the pilot finally is able to pick up a transmission on the emergency transmitter telling him to set of a coloured flare so that the rescue shuttle can rescue him.

Recipe

TIE/FIGURE/EQUIPMENT - The Tie was built straight out of the box and then painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks. Once the Tie was done I then used wire clippers and clipped away at the solar panels to simulate battle damage and also crash damage.

The figure is from Presier and I decided to have him waving after letting of the flare. The flare was done by cutting some wire and then gluing cotton wool to it until I got the look I wanted and then I sprayed it red.

The emergency transmitter was made by using 1/72 scale German Stick Grenades and a 1/72 scale hydraulic pump, the small generator is a 1/72 scale bag and the lead is some this cord.

The shelter was done by using thin plasti card rod and painted tissue paper as was the sleeping bag, I used 1/72 scale canisters and bags/box to add some supplies and the pilots chest armour and helmet were cut of the standing pilot that comes with the kit.

The base - was done by using high density foam and I carved out ditches were the Ties solar panels drag into the sand. The sand was done by mixing spakfilla, fine sand and brown dye and spread out over the base and I used some of the left over solar panels and laid them over the base.

The base was painted/washed and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks.

Ron"

I really appreciate how he shares each bit of the process so folks who have an inkling can tackle this and know there is a resource to fall back on if they need it. Thanks Ron!

Mandalore 25 is back with two new ones and a wip...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 25 2016
"Got a few things to share today, first is this requested ARC Trooper Fives. Not to special being just a repaint, where he sent his figure to me for modification, but I think he turned out quite well.

Next I made another Visas Marr from a Luminara Unduli, and if anyone is interested she's listed here:

Last I have a WIP of Vergere, finished sculpting the head, and I'm really excited to get some paint on her."

This was a great update. I liked it all!

THE HONORABLE ONES EPISODE GUIDE...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 25 2016
"Zeb and Agent Kallus find themselves stranded on an icy moon of Geonosis after a failed Imperial ambush of the rebels. Bitter enemies, they must put aside their differences and work together in order to survive."

As I was saying I need to go back and watch this one, but I am always a fan of this type of story arc where bitter enemies are forced to band together to survive. I loved the movie, "Enemy Mine" if that is not dating myself too much.

Click here to enjoy the Honorable Ones Episode Guide. I do like seeing the background and other artwork that goes into the show!

He looks fantastic to me! Make sure you scroll up as there are some great Rebel Pilots and an ROTJ Luke to see too.

I know that this is a Star Wars site but I am a collector of a lot of science fiction stuff (much to bane of my loving wife!). I couldn't resist with starting with a set from the classic Star Trek."

We do like out Star Wars here at ISY, but we love all things science fiction and customizing oriented period. It was good to see Panther back! Make sure you scroll down to so you can see the start of his Jabba's Palace Dio too.

JDeck finishes his Rebel Alliance LAAT...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 23 2016
"I did some weathering to the LAAT. I didn't do a fantastic job, I've been laid up sick this whole weekend. I did create a little back story of how the Alliance was able to obtain a few of their LAATs. Keep in mind I've been feverish, but I've been watching a lot of ww2 in color and Star Wars Rebels.

The Low Altitude Assault Transport or LAAT, was officially decommissioned by the Empire in 7 BBY. The remaining fleet was sold to the Kuat driveyards to be stripped down, and recycled to fill the Empires order of the new All Terrain Scout Transport platform."

Trust me that is just the start of the great back story.

Pic 1 - I mix fine sand with spakfilla, PVA/Woodglue, Brown Dye and a little water, I mix it all together until I get a pancake type consistency and then I startto add it to the base.

Pic 2 - Once the mix has dried I then give the base two to three washes of Vallejo Light Brown.

Pic 3 - Once the Light Brown washes of dried I then give the base two to three washes of Vallejo Desert Yellow.

Pic 4 - Once the Desert Yellow washes have dried I then give the base two washes of Vallejo Dark Sand.

Pic 5 - Once the Dark Sand washes have dried I then give the base two washes of Vallejo Pale Sand to end up with the final look.

I am not very familiar with shirt.woot, but the order process was very easy and for only $8.00 for a large and $5 for shipping its hard to beat the price! I will let you know when I get it in and what quality it is. I had to choose from standard and American Apparel (this kind of reminds me of an Under Armor Fit).

JDeck shows us a Rebel Alliance LAAT...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 19 2016
"As most of you know, I'm an OT guy, so for the longest time I've been trying to figure out what to do with the Revell Prequel kits. I decided to make them early rebel Alliance vehicles. I built this kit yesterday and of course I had to JDeck it out. I added a ton of greebles to the engines. With this project I'm going for a combination X-wing/Y-wing/T-47 inspiration, to give it an OT Alliance look. I always thought of the rebels as being a galactic Dukes of Hazard, they take a stock vehicle make it faster more powerful, and put a rebel flag on it. Yeehaw! I just put on the pre shadow coat, soon I'll paint and decal."

He had me sold at Galactic Dukes of Hazard! I think it is a great idea.

Looks pretty spot on to me. Out of all the main characters of Star Wars it is crazy to see how many times they have messed up Luke's Face. Wampa1 found a good version.

This custom Jessica Meade figure is FOR SALE here."

I think she looks pretty good. I placed her right away. I miss those old cartoons.

"The Ghost crew joins forces with Cham Syndulla, father of Hera and Clone Wars legend. But will his thirst for revenge -- and fractured relationship with his daughter -- cost the rebels a victory?"

Dan gets in some of our Hasbro Questions for Toy Fair!

"This year, the Hasbro Q&A was handled very differently than previous years. Instead of a set time for 1 on 1 with the brand manager, we were all seated together and had to raise our hands and be acknowledged before asking our question like in a more traditional press conference setting."

He was able to get in many of our questions as well as hear answers to others you know we are interested in! Thanks Dan!

Ron Hembling gives us the outdoor pics...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 17 2016
"Hi All,

Here are my usual outdoor pics, I have used an older camera for the shots so hopefully they will look good on your screens.

Recipe.

The Speeder - is from Bandai and built straight out of the box, I seat belts by using strips of cloth elastic and painting them and once dry I glued them inplace. The speeder was painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and chalk pastels.

Figures - are from Tamiya and their 1/48 U.S Navy Pilots, I cut off the Bandai pilots heads and drilled out one and added to the pilot on the right with the head cover on and with the other I just glued it straight onto the other figure. The ground crew was a mix match of different parts from the same kit and the figures were painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Base - was cut from high density foam as were the rocks. The ground plating is plasti card as are the blue and yellow crates, I used 1/72 parts to make the large fuel canister at the rear of the speeder and the other items are parts from 1/72, 1/48 kits.

I used a mix of sand and spakfilla with a little amount of PVA/Woodglue and mixed it all together and covered the base. Once dry the base and equipment were painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastels chalks.

Ron"

This turned out fantastic! Trust me scroll down once you get in there. What I like so much about this is there is so much activity. You turn it just a bit and you have an entirely new diorama!

Gentle Giant announces new Vintage Jumbo...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 17 2016
"Inspired by the Kenner vintage Star Wars figures, Gentle Giant is proud to bring you the Young Jedi Knight, Luke Skywalker, in jumbo size! Returning to Tattooine once again, this time to help his friends, the Young Jedi arrives coaked in his hooded robe at Jabba's Palace. Digitally scanned from mint 3 ¾” Kenner originals and reproduced in 12” scale to the rest of the jumbo Kenner line, no detail has been overlooked.

Roto and injection molded and made of durable plastics, this fully-articulated jumbo figure includes a faithfully re-produced lightsaber and cloth hooded robe. To further capture the vintage feel, Gentle Giant has packaged this figure with a Return of the Jedi-inspired backer card featuring original photos and artwork. Designed with the collector in mind, the figure comes in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition figure. Q4 2016 release date."

Sorry if the pics are a bit blurry I still haven't got a new camera as of yet so I'm using an old one for these pics and once I get my new one I will take my usual out door pics with the rest of the recipe.

Trust me Ron I can relate to not having a good camera as of late, but wow from what I am seeing your project is fantastic. I cannot wait to get in my Bandai AT-ST!

StarFall is back with a new Star-Fall Custom!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 15 2016
"Once again, after many painstaking hours in the workshop, another Star-Fall custom character is finally finished. We won's see her any time soon in the Star-Fall Comic but she will an important role to play in stories to come. Please excuse the mini-rig.

Meet Aerys Laytrum, a spunky young native of the planet Stratos V. The youngest daughter of one of Stratos' high noble families, Aerys leads a secret double life as she rides her Velociwing Skyboard high above the city floor. To protect her noble identity she races as her alter ego: Hazard Girl."

I love how he creates a data card of sorts for each figure. Wait till you see her vehicle of choice too. Very cool!

Wampa1 shows up with a new kit-bash too...

"Stormtrooper Luke - TVC Stormtrooper plus Mission Series Luke head modded to ball joint."

It just goes to show you that if you put the nicer parts together you can really get an exemplary figure. I have wondered for year why Hasbro didn't do something like this, but the customizers here at the Yards have continually shown how great a 3.75" figure can be!

The Spectre is back with an astro-mech update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 13 2016
"Yoda's Astromech based on a discussion with Erik Araña from Boss Fight Studio during a recording of the Joe Customs Podcast!

Made from the droid dome from the "Clone Wars" Yoda's Starfighter and the body of the black/white R2 from the Disney "Build A Droid" kiosk at Downtown Disney. Some minor paint tweaks were done to clean up some of the factory deco."

That sure sounds like a fun conversation to me. I know the droid sure looks great.

Jon K updates his Mara Jade...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 13 2016
"Here's a quick one I did. I've seen a lot of updates on the bad 80s hair Mara Jade, and found this cast head on ebay that looked pretty good to me. Not sure what the source is, but the ears were pointy before I shaved them down.

The cape is made from an Anakin cloak that I trimmed down, wrapped around the figure and melted together in front around the neck. I wasn't sure how it would work out but I'm pretty happy with it overall. I would have preferred a smaller hilt, but This was the only violet saber I had available."

Wow. I think she turned out perfect. Such a better head the last big hair version Hasbro gave us.

Wampa1 is back with two new kit-bashes...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 13 2016
"Took another bash at Endor Han. Carbonite Han body (shoulders shaved to allow VOTC Endor Han jacket to sit lower), VOTC Endor Han jacket, forearms and hands, Celebration Luke holster strap, SAGA AT-ST Han Solo head modded to ball-joint.

The 'other' Sergeant Doallyn, who gets pushed down the stairs by Chewie. Recipe is Jabba's Skiff Guard (the first Doallyn later retconned into Brock Starsher) head and Bane Malar body."

I think both are great representations of their chosen characters. All it takes sometimes is great parts folks!

Kualan gives us some great news!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 11 2016
"Okay guys, got some bad news and some good news...but don't worry it's mostly good news.

The bad news is that the upcoming follow-up to TFTCW, Tales From The Rebellion, is delayed for the time being. The good news is that the reason for this is because I've decided to go back and finish Volume Five of Tales From The Clone Wars after all!

The frustration from losing all the previous work when my PC crashed has faded over the last couple of months, so I don't feel so bad about re-doing so much work in order to finish the story I started with the clones Asher and Corliss.

Here's a little taste of what the volume will hold."

Now this is what I call a great teaser!

Gold Leader One is back with some Custom Rebel Pilots...

"Just wanted to post a quick update. I did a few quick customs which I finally acquired the parts for.

The first is Luke Skywalker in X-wing Gear from Return of the Jedi. Granted he was only shown in his X-wing for about 15 seconds, we still got figures like Sandstorm Luke or even Lightsaber Construction Luke, both of which were deleted scenes. I wanted to make this version of Luke because now I have all variations of Luke in his flight suit. I had a spare Endor Capture Luke head from when I did my Shadows of the Empire custom Luke."

I like the looks of him. Lots of great custom pilots can be seen in his update.

Mandalore 25 gives us a Mass Effect Cross-Over...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 11 2016
"So the plan was to eventually make an Asari Jedi, but IABF beat me to the punch, not to say I don't still have one planned ;) but when he made his Asari jedi the conversation opened, and Tamer came up with the Asari Mandalorian crossover, so I had to make one. Normally I'm a bit disgusted with using rare, highly sought after figures for customizing, but I came across a Chinese seller with Isabet Reau figures missing a lower arm, head, and foot for cheap, so I bought 4. ;D It was time to put this Asari Mandalorian together!"

I am glad I had such a great idea as she looks great. Click here to go add her to your collection.

Mandalore 25 is back with two new custom figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 10 2016
"Have two figures today, one is a Male Togruta jedi, and the other, another Celeste Morne.

Sculpted this head, just like the other a few weeks ago, was inspired by the many ways their head tails could sit. Like the color scheme too, bounced around a number of ideas, but like this one, kind of camouflage like.

If anyone is interested, he's listed here

This was supposed to be an order, but it's been weeks since I finished her, and no response from my client, so she is up for grabs. She's not as great as the last one I did, but she was designed on a lower budget than that one, so had to cut some things out, and work with less parts.

If anyone is interested, she's listed here"

1) Maz Kanata v1
2) Constable Zuvio (basic repaint and added 11poa articulation)
3) Grandmaster Luke Skywalker v2 (TFA old Luke)
*4) Ezra Bridger (DarkSide fan fiction character- this is my fan fiction Ezra who lost his family his Crew and his love and was seduced by the darkside similarly to Anakin Skywalker."

I like em all, but that Darkside Ezra Bridger is absolutely fantastic! What a cool work of art. He also shares another post of some close up detail work on Ezra so be sure to scroll down too.

New Photos of SSC Sixth Scale R5-D4...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 10 2016
"Sideshow Collectibles presents the R5-D4 Sixth Scale Figure from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

He may be worn and faulty, but who could resist this loveable little astro droid? Slightly larger than his more famous successor R2-D2, Sideshow’s R5-D4 Sixth Scale Figure measures roughly 8.6 inches tall from antenna to treads. Appearing just as Uncle Owen purchased him from the Jawas on Tatooine, every detail of the R5 unit is faithfully replicated, from his desert-worn deco to advanced articulation. Nicknamed for his bright crimson accents, Red’s distinctive trapezoid-shaped head features authentic holographic details, and can swivel nearly 360 degrees, while a magnetic restraining bolt grants access to a variety of compartments and hinged panels. Notoriously plagued with malfunctions, he also suffers a pop-up “bad motivator,” a feature Star Wars fans are sure to enjoy. Destined to play a key role in a moment that sets the events of the original Star Wars trilogy in motion, R5-D4 is a must-have addition for any Star Wars collection!"

After you enjoy the new photos you may as well add one to your cart!

JDeck just about done...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 9 2016
"I got a lot of the final steps done today. I'm calling it about done. But is anything ever really done? I spliced together some SW Miniatures to make the welder, and adjusted the arms on the others. They're about 1/50, so I couldn't mash them, or mix them with 1/48 military figures, like I wanted. The speeder is a little dark, I made the same mistake I made with the x-wing I did a while back, but ehh screw it. I can build an even better one whenever I want. I have some more Hoth officers coming in, so I may replace the pilot with them. Other than that I really like it. Cool thing is, It looks different on three sides. I'll make some adjustments so it has 3 different little mini scenes going on. Its done but not done."

I think it looks great. I liked it so much I ordered one of the Bandai Snowspeeders myself yesterday!

JDeck updates us on his Echo Base Hangar Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 8 2016
"I've been working on my Echo Base dio. I decaled the Snowspeeder a little and weathered it. I took off some panels and the heat diffuser or whatever you call it. That way it appears to be under extensive modifications, due to the extreme cold. I added a few mechanical greebles to the repulsor lift engines and under one of the air brakes. I received a few of my SW Miniatures in the mail, I'm still waiting for a few more. I still need to paint some props, and permanently hook up some LEDs. I should be finished soon."

It sure looks good to me. I am so going to do this one day.

The Spectre is back with new Daleks!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 7 2016
"I made these Imperial Guard Daleks with the standard manipulator arms (plungers) during my recent NuClassic Daleks project. I had removed the sensor arms from a pair of Imperial Guard Daleks to use for my project and replaced them with the standard plunger arms from the Asylum Daleks I was repainting. I stripped off all of the "weathering" (mix of black and brown washes) from the Asylum arms using 91% Isopropyl alcohol revealing pristine silver plastic underneath.

There were production figures of this Dalek variant released in the 3.75" "Doctor Who" line, but they never made their way to the States so I just made my own."

Sjefke shows his attention to precision...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 7 2016
"Up until now, I've been avoiding Rocket's body. I'm using a Megablock figure, but I've been making adjustment to the arms and legs, hence the need for Ultra-articulated Spider-Man wrists. The elbow looks less bulky. The real problem for me was the legs. In many renderings, Rocket stands on his forefeet, and his ankles don't rest on the ground. That presented a major problem because of his size.

Making a forefoot hinge
I saw this trick on FigureRealm. They feature a tutorial on how to make a hinge in a hand of a six inch scale figure so it could hold items more securely. I gave it a go with 3.75 scale Bilbo Baggins feet, mostly because I liked the sculpt of the toes. I drilled through the feet and ran a thin paper clip through. I pulled out the metal hinge and made my cuts.
These were my planned cuts.
(I've been experimenting with Ibis Paint app)

After making the cuts, i ran metal pin back thru. I had to do some repair work with acrocyanate filler, but I got the joints to swing securely.

Incorporating rare earth magnets
I definitely want to be able to recreate the movie prison riot scene when Rocket stands on Groot's back, but I don't want to go crazy trying to balance one figure on top of another, so I figured putting magnets in the feet was the way to go. These magnets are 1 mm diameter and 0.5 mm thick. There are larger stronger magnets in Groot's arm and back.

Here's a pic of Rocket's foot on Groot's right arm.

Fabricating rocker ankles
This is where that Ultra-articulated Spidey wrist comes in. I needed something really small and that ball joint is the smallest I know of, even smaller than an Ahsoka Tano ankle. I cut the ankle and then bored it hollow with a Dremel.

It was a tight fit. There was so little plastic left that the light was shining through the flesh colored paint to the inside. I filled the foot with a tiny amount of fast curing marine plastic repair resin.

So there it is, the smallest foot with a ball jointed rocker ankle and a hinged forefoot I could make. It's rough and needs some serious finishing, but they both work. The next step is attaching the ankles to the knees.

Thanks Yarders."

Folks the varied techniques here I just had to post. It is amazing to see what he has fabricated. Rock on Jeff!

"Remember the really cool Sith Acolytes from the Old Republic game trailers? I found a head that someone made and was selling online, and knew I had to use it to make this figure. It came in a flesh color, which was rather chuckle-worthy, but I definitely had fun making this figure. The most complicated part, surprisingly, was the cloak."

Jedi Minstrel shows us a great Green Latern Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 6 2016
"The GL Jedi's name is Haa'll Joritz. Stoic and logical but not without compassion and a mean right swing of his light-ax.

Ha'll Joritz was one of a very few Jedi that explored other shapes with lightsaber technology. An ax head became possible when manipulating the spectral manipulation actuator (totally just made that up). The swing of his light-ax could be seen at the crest above many battles. Hard and logical, Joritz was a critical but fair Master."

I really enjoy cross-overs. Jedi Minstrel did a great job with this one.

DaBooma is back with one tough update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 6 2016
"Hey guys! It's been a while.

I've becoming a HUGE fan of Marauder Task Force figures, and thought it would be cool to work on a custom of what Boba Fett's armor would have been like, during the Clone Wars, and before he modified it with jets. And bounty hunted for Jabba Hutt to finance his 'Vette. Wicky, Wicky. Its only appropriate to call his armor marauder, since this is a Marauder figure.

He's a seasoned, hardened, trained super commando during the Clone Wars, and obviously much older. And I loved the idea of Boba looking similar to Jeremy Bulloch.

The entire figure is a Marauder Task Force soldier, I cut the range finder/antenna and mask from an old Jango, then used a silver marker to add some abrasions and added a few Mando water decals."

Folks, this is one of the toughest looking versions of Boba Fett I have seen. I really like it!

Sjefke shares a hip repair...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 6 2016
"Here's one left over from my Pong Krell build. This is a Thor movie Frost Giant hip, which is thankfully about ten times bigger than the Spidey wrist above. I drilled out the broken peg and replaced it with a tiny screw. The screw is obviously narrower than the plastic ring or else it would split the ring and hamper its rotation. Take ensure it stayed in place, I applied a little acrocyanate at the base with a tooth pick. Thankfully, it didn't run and freeze the joint that time."

Wow, what a great fix. Sjefke can help save you some money. Don't buy a new figure, fix it!

Now this is customizing folks. Very cool story!

Sjefke shows us how to fix a ball joint...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 5 2016
"I wanted to share this fix. It's a little involved, but it worked.

Why all of a sudden a tutorial on Ball joint repair?
Because I'm and idiot, that's why! :-X

I was working on upgrading the articulation on a figure, and the acrocyanate glue ran and froze the joint. Not just any ball joint. An Ultra-articulated Spider-Man wrist joint. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's the smallest ball joint ever made, and I needed that tiny ball joint for a specific project

When I freed up the joint, the ring had snapped. Since everything was pulled apart, I poured Lightening Fill in the break and over he rough spots and placed a drop of Lightening Bond on top."

His fix is pretty ingenious. I always appreciate him sharing things like this. He is a great ambassador for the customizing community.

Hasbro clarifies some information we will receive before Toy Fair...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
Here is the communique we received yesterday regarding what we might hear in regards to the Star Wars Brand at Toy Fair yesterday,

"We are looking forward to seeing you next weekend, and wanted to reach out and clarify what Hasbro's Star Wars presence will be at this year's show.

We wanted to let you know that there will be no toys based on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story shown at Toy Fair this year. While there will be a small selection of new Star Wars toys revealed at Toy Fair and in the days leading up to it, none of them will be directly based on the new characters from the upcoming film."

I thought it was pretty professional to let folks know that up front and I am sure they will indeed give us new information regarding the Star Wars Brand that we can sink our teeth into. Regarding that don't forget we will be speaking with the Brand Managers for Star Wars, Marvel, and G.I. JOE so get your burning questions submitted here. I aim to finish this question list up pretty quick so be sure to get your query submitted as soon as possible.

-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"I don't do much of this kind of illustrations these days but because I so loved that scene with the SD wreck I just had to. Hope you like

"Lost on Jakku"
."

Well I sure do. It is always great to see an update from Art deWhill!

Ron Hembling makes progress on his Desert Speeder...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"Hi All,

Painted the cockpit up and weathered the speeder using Vallejo paints, I still have to add some straps to the seats to cover up the cutting were I removed the connection for the pilots back.

Ron"

Boy it is fun to sit back and watch his process.

Jedi Minstrel is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"Hey Folks. Been a couple of months but alas, such is life. Anyway, here are a couple of customs that were really fun to do. They were inspired by a couple of buddies. One had mentioned how much he really dug steampunk and the other said he was a huge Greenlantern fan."

I like em both, but am really partial to that Steampunk Boba!

JDeck starts his Snowspeeder Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
" I started on this Echo Base Snowspeeder maintenance diorama. I've been wanting to build this for quite some time. In light of all the snow we've been getting, now's a great time. This is actually the first time I've built the Bandai Snowspeeder. Its a great kit like all the others. Easy to assemble. I might not paint it, I may just clear coat it after setting decals, then weather it. Instead of masking all that detail.

I made the walls with bluefoam, then I used a craft grade foam cutter to make the scars. I started wiring some LEDs I'll be using. I ordered some Star Wars minifigures that I'll kitbash with Hasagawa's 1/48 modern US ground crew set A. I still need to do a bunch of stuff, but this is the basic look."

It looks pretty daggone nice to me. I am so gonna get a few of those Bandai Kits. As vehicles go, this line blows away anything I have seen produced by anyone lately.

Jodo shares a re-imagined trailer for The Clone Wars...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"Writer's Note:Like many modern film trailers, the use of darkness is used for pacing and suspense. Several of the following frames have been intentionally left black."

Just so you know. It is cool to see these movies re-imagined and using action figures as the props to recreate them!

Sjefke is satisfied with his Marvel Custom Work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"Hey Yarders

Work on Rocket and Groot's bodies has stalled while I got the heads and their molds as good as I could. I'm finally satisfied. I experiment with different tints. Dark brown is the way to go for Rockets and light tan with a hint of green for Groot."

Tell me it doesn't rock folks!

Jon K shares a Female Revan...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 4 2016
"I wanted to give Revan a shot the way I played KOTOR before I learned (ex) canon because I haven't seen one yet: female and light side. I've never personally been a fan of cloth on 3.75" so I went with all plastics for the fabrics."

I think he did a fantastic job. Make sure you click the aforementioned link to see the recipe and the full construction process. I always like reading about the process.

and that was without looking very hard. Click here to go to amazon and do some searching for others as you just might fill a hole in your collection for not much money!

Ron Hembling starts a new diorama project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 3 2016
"Hi All,

While waiting on more plants to arrive for my drop pod dio I decided I would build and do a dio using Bandai's 1/48th scale Snowspeeder.

This WIP dio depicts a few pilots waiting to for the ground to complete their work so that they can go out on a desert patrol.

The base is made using high density foam and will be covered using spakfilla and I have used the pilots and deck crew from Tamiya's 1/48th scale U.S. Navy Pilots WWII w/Moto-Tug.

Ron"

It already looks great and he is just getting started!

Stan just wasn't satisfied with his Lobot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 3 2016
"Well here is the revised Lobot, shorten him down, Lando is taller! His arms were to bulky , so I went with smaller arms, paint color that Hasbro gave was inaccurate , now matches closes to the movies. End the end, I would like to data big thanks to Raylen, Matt, and Customjedi! You Guys are biggest inspiration anyone could ask for!"

I have to agree he looks pretty good!

Ajunta Pall keeps pulling out new customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 3 2016
"Here are a few older customs I didn't post yet. Hope you enjoy.

1) Shadow Guard
2) Tulak Hord ( I've upgraded this since I took the picture)
3) Darth Bane (upgraded paint and soft goods cloak)
4)Starkiller sithstalker (refurbish-hand sculpted head, custom arms, claws, zoft goods and custom lightsaber)
(Other pics show comparisson of sith stalker before and after refurb, and a close up of the Shadow trooper with robe removed)"

I am liking that Starkiller a good bit. Don't even get me started on my EU musings though.

eBay Store Clint's Toys and Video Games

Bronxstalker finishes Mandalore the Ultimate!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 2 2016
"Here goes Mandalore the Ultimate. He stands at about 6.5" tall. In person, he looks a whole lot better.

All armored pieces are either sculpted or are made with styrene sheeting. His shoulder pads connect via magnets, so that they can cling on over the cloak."

Folks hands down this is one of the best exemplars of how to mesh soft goods with figures that I have ever seen and as you well know that is saying something. I was also extremely impressed with the sculpting on this one. Talk about bringing it home well!

JDeck finishes the house that Rey built!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 2 2016
"

Alright I'm calling 'er done
! Not much more I can do. I decided not to add the 1/144 Rey, because the AT-AT is 1/100 and the speeder is 1/87. It would have been off. Plus I ran out if paint. I may add it one day. All in all I am satisfied. Thanks to Hemble for helping me figure out the groundwork. Thanks to all who left comments. Hope you all like it."

Like it? WE LOVE IT! I think it turned out awesome. JDeck is always building something neat.

Ajunta Pall rocks a fully articulated Ahsoka Tano!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 2 2016
Part of the update I showcased yesterday, but I had to show you what this one looks like too even though I am still reeling over his Fenn Rau.

Super articulated figures used to be the norm, not the exception. Thanks to customizers like AP we can set the bar where it needs be again!

Stan finishes his Lobot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 2 2016
"Well hereeeee, Lobot! Those upper arms are little beefy, everything matches up!"

I think he looks pretty daggone nice!

BDC41866 is back with two new customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 2 2016
"Finished up a couple more customs. The Nautolan Commando I started on awhile back still needs a helmet but hes done otherwise. Also added a Cerean fallen Jedi Master. More to come."

I never get tired of reading the more to come part. Doesn't it make great sense to have a Nautolan in scuba feet! Think how they could swim!

Amazon has the Black Series 6-Inch First Order Flametrooper in-stock!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
I found this out while perusing Amazon during my lunch today. I couldn't find a decent price on the others in this wave, but the Flametrooper sure was worth the add to cart!

"Specialized Stormtroopers of the First Order, Flametroopers carry incendiary weapons that can transform any battlefield into an inferno. This 6-inch-scale First Order Flametrooper figure is carefully detailed to look just like the First Order soldier from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This figure is crafted to display true-to-story detail and comes with 2 accurately decorated accessories. Act out favorite battles or create brand new ones! No collection -- or adventure -- is complete without this First Order Flametrooper figure. Build up an epic collection with all the figures and vehicles from The Black Series."

I will keep you posted on others in this wave as well as other First Order Offerings!

Ajunta Pall is back with a The Clone Wars Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"Up next is a few I couldn't wait to make and upgrade!

1) Ahsoka Tano-Rebels ( 11poa-shoulders, wrists, knees ankles, waist now bend rotate and swivel)
2) Fenn Rau- Protector of Concord dawn (Mandalorian from Rebels new season 2 episode 12-13)
3)Luke Skywalker TVC ( head swap from saga legends and new paint app)
"

I am really enjoying that Fenn Rau. He seems spot on from what I remember from just watching the episode!

Black Thorne is back with an awesome diorama!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"Whats up, fellows? Finally I finished the first Dio of the year, a small vignette based on the work of our friend Ron Hembling. He is one of my main inspiration even before I started into custom."

Wow, what a great compliment. Talk about one fantastic diorama too. I bet Ron will be pretty pleased don't you?

Blizzard Force shows us some great vintage style TFA Carded Figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"So far I've just been more of a "reader" than someone who actually contributes...but I wanted to change that tonight because I've just finished a project I've spent lots of on the last weeks.

Lately, I've been working on producing some vintage-style cardbacks for the new TFA figures from Hasbro (for both 3,75" Black Series and the regular 5POA TFA figures). The new design from Hasbro isn't per se bad...but I think the focus on the BAW part is way too strong....and most importantly, I really dig Kenner's vintage card design and wanted to update it for the new movie. ;)

I've now assembled 18 figures (I have two more designs, Han Solo + Constable Zuvio, but I'm still missing those two figures at the moment). Sorry for the watermarks, they're only on the pics and not the finished cardbacks, of course."

It sure does show you how great this new line could have been. I feel like starting the bring back the vintage line chant right now!

JDeck is getting cryptic with his new dio progress...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"I'm almost done. I had to re-do some of the landscape, the sand was too course, and I wanted to redo the sandstone outcrop. I added some props, and things I'm waiting for it to dry, I need to dry brush it but my paints got lost in the mail. Here's a little teaser shot."

I can't make out much, but I am guessing its good!

Spuda Fett compares his customs and notices quite a few things!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"Went to walmart and was amazed to find the most recent 6in figures in stock so I picked up 6 of the ones I really wanted... may go back for more for customs...

anyway, I recently did the removable helmet finn custom which (of course) hasbro also released their own version of. They also just released their own version of jango fett. I took both out of their boxes and took some comparison photos next to my customs."

He makes some great comparisons and finds out a few things about First Order Stormtroopers!

Time to bring in the heavy artillery.
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 1 2016
"Star Wars fans worldwide are anxiously waiting for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the latest installment of the epic space saga! Set 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, the upcoming movie will feature brand new characters as well as some familiar faces!

Although the Galactic Empire has fallen after the Battle of Endor, a new organization called the First Order has come to power and this new military junta employs Stormtroopers to execute its orders. These new faceless enforcers are now armed with new armor, weapons and equipment to accomplish their goal.

Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are pleased to present a sixth scale collectible figures set featuring the new sleekly designed First Order Stormtrooper and Heavy Gunner Stormtrooper, equipped with a heavy artillery vest and a destructive megablaster, from Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

The highly-accurate collectible figures are specially crafted based on the image of the First Order Stormtroopers in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Each Stormtrooper features a newly designed Stormtrooper armor and helmet. The standard First Order Stormtrooper will be equipped with a blaster rifle and blaster pistol, while the First Order Heavy Gunner Stormtrooper will be armed with an articulated megablaster and a blaster pistol. Two specially designed hexagonal figure stands with the First Order’s emblem are also included in the set!

Now is the time to build up your own First Order Stormtrooper army!"

They look pretty daggone nice to me!
