Hi All,

Got the sand done and this is how I got it to look the way you see it in the last picture.

Pic 1 - I mix fine sand with spakfilla, PVA/Woodglue, Brown Dye and a little water, I mix it all together until I get a pancake type consistency and then I startto add it to the base.

Pic 2  - Once the mix has dried I then give the base two to three washes of Vallejo Light Brown.

Pic 3 - Once the Light Brown washes of dried I then give the base two to three washes of Vallejo Desert Yellow.

Pic 4 - Once the Desert Yellow washes have dried I then give the base two washes of Vallejo Dark Sand.

Pic 5 - Once the Dark Sand washes have dried I then give the base two washes of Vallejo Pale Sand to end up with the final look.

Hi All,

The dio is complete and is called RESCUE.

As mentioned before it depicts a Tie fighter going down in the desert and after a few days the pilot finally is able to pick up a transmission on the emergency transmitter telling him to set of a coloured flare so that the rescue shuttle can rescue him.

Recipe

TIE/FIGURE/EQUIPMENT - The Tie was built straight out of the box and then painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks. Once the Tie was done I then used wire clippers and clipped away at the solar panels to simulate battle damage and also crash damage.

The figure is from Presier and I decided to have him waving after letting of the flare. The flare was done by cutting some wire and then gluing cotton wool to it until I got the look I wanted and then I sprayed it red.

The emergency transmitter was made by using 1/72 scale German Stick Grenades and a 1/72 scale hydraulic pump, the small generator is a 1/72 scale bag and the lead is some this cord.

The shelter was done by using thin plasti card rod and painted tissue paper as was the sleeping bag, I used 1/72 scale canisters and bags/box to add some supplies and the pilots chest armour and helmet were cut of the standing pilot that comes with the kit.

The base - was done by using high density foam and I carved out ditches were the Ties solar panels drag into the sand. The sand was done by mixing spakfilla, fine sand and brown dye and spread out over the base and I used some of the left over solar panels and laid them over the base.

The base was painted/washed and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks.
