Finley002 tries an eye experiment...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 30 2016
"Didn't want to waste 65 cents on just one set of experimental eyes, so I whipped up some other eyes for a handful of other figures. I seems that the laser printer at Kinkos did a pretty decent job of it. Can't really tell (until I get it home and under a florecent light) but it looks like it actually printed in white for the inside and "shine" of the eyes. I just assumed that it would leave those spaces "clear" and that I would have to pre-paint the eye-whites in place before placing the decals. We'll see, I might still have to..."

I am anxious to see what these look like on his customs!

Ron Hembling finishes his Deathtrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, December 28 2016
"Hi All,

Here are the usual pics for the Death Trooper dio.

Recipe

Troopers - are from Hasbro and I super glued the joints and then puttied them and once dry I repainted the body suit and weathered the armour.

Base - is balsa wood and then I used spakfilla to start the water and then I mixed spakfilla and fine river sand and the added some Vallejo Iraqui Sand and then added to the base for the beach section.

The water is Woodland Scenics Water Effects and so is the splashing water, I pour the Water Effects on the base and then spread it out and then once dry dry brushed gloss white to simulate froth.

Ron"

See what I mean when I say Ron is on fire!

"Hi All,

Here are the usual pics for the Shore trooper dio.

Recipe.

Troopers - are Hasbro's 3-3/4" Black Series and I super glued the joints and then puttied them up and once dry I used tissue paper to cover the cloth areas.

Base - is four Bandai 1/12 figure stands glued together and then balsa wood was used for the sides. I used plastic card for the landing pad section and the containers were made using plastic card and the hoses are pieces of old electrical cable.

The sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand and the palm tree was made using part of a small branch that I got from the back garden. I used string and wrapped it around the branch and then used tissue paper for the bark.

I then printed of some palm leaves of the net and used them as a template and cut them out of paper and then painted them and used thin wire to attach them to the tree and the smaller shrubs and plants are from Woodland Scenics and Joefix Studio's.

Ron"

Stay tuned, that isn't the only project Ron has final images of too. When he works, he works!

JDeck gets back to his Battle of Hoth Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, December 28 2016
"The weather was great today, so I decided to plaster my dio. Of course I ran out of plaster cloth half way through , so I used a plaster mix and paper towels. It worked just as well as the plaster cloth. So I'll use that from now on, its just more messy. I also did addition sculpting using sculpting plaster, but I don't like using that stuff. It's like some kind of a pulpy mashed potato gloop. Next Ill run my wires, tape over the wires and then add my final ground effects."

Needless to say, I am really liking this dio.

Mourning the passing of Carrie Fisher...

Bubba Vader shares some great customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, December 27 2016
"Hello folks, this is my first post here. This site seems more focused on customs which is becoming a new interest of me. Below is my first custom job, modding various Jedi's with the Outland Anankin in-arm saber. My kid loves em, and I expect to mod all force users as such (and maybe match up the arms a bit with the characters):

Also, I am working on an Army of Mandos which will be based on three figures- Legacy Clone Pilots, Corscant Attacks Padme, and 2011 CW Kenobi (on the way)."

First off welcome to ISY and I am liking those arm in sabers. Reminds me of yesteryear when I was playing with my Obi, Luke, and Vader.

Ron Hembling works on a new diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, December 26 2016
"Hi All,

I got a few of the Black Series 3-3/4" Deathtroopers and Shoretroopers for xmas and damn I love these figures and if this BS figures are going to be this good I'll be doing a lot more 3-3/4".

Ok the base so far is Bandai base glued together and then a balsa wood edge added, I then added plastic card which will partial land pad. The palm tree is just a small branch from the garden and I wrapped string around it and then adding tissue paper and soaking it with watered down PVA glue.

The cargo containers are made using plastic card and the cargo tube containers are old superglue lids
and I added 1/72 WW2 German tank wheels for the lids.

The troopers as mentioned above are BS 3-34/" and I super glued the joints and then used plasticine to fill the joints and tissue paper will be used to cover the cloth areas. I painted one up to be a captain and will weather them once I do the tissue technic.

Ron"

Don't worry he is still working on his Deathtrooper Assault Dio too.

Finley002 joins the customizing boards...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, December 26 2016
"Hey Guys. New to Forum and this is my first post. But wanted to contribute with my new custom. Not elaborate by any means, but a much needed improvement to a MUCH loved figure. Hera is one of my daughters favorite figures. But over the last year Hera has taken a few bumps and bruises. So I took the opportunity to touch up some paint on the intrepid pilot... I pretty much just painted over the original eyes, which I always thought were NOTHING like how they appear on the show."

First off welcome to ISY and I think your paint work on the eyes looks much better than the factory paint job.

Ron Hembling adds to his Deathtrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, December 24 2016
"Hi All,

Firstly I hope everyone has a Happy Christmas and a great New Year.

I have added spakfilla to the base area
of the base and then mixed spakfilla and sand for the beach area. I painted the water area with Vallejo Dark Blue and then started using washes of Vallejo Dark Blue and White until I was happy with the colour.

The sand was painted using Vallejo Iraqui Sand and once dry did a few washes of the Iraqui Sand and Vallejo Pale Sand until I was happy with the colour.

The Troopers had their joints glued and then puttied up and I then painted the cloth area's Vallejo Black and gave the area a light weathering on Vallejo Silver to give them a little wear and tear.

Next will be adding the water.

Ron"

You talk about a Yarder that has had one awesome year of customizing and that is Ron! Merry Christmas Ron!

Darth Daddy creates a Rebels Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 23 2016
"So, we never made a diorama before, but we figured there is no better time than the present. We received some styrofoam sheets in the mail and with a little bit of plaster, paint and some duplicate stickers we got from some Star Wars Rebels Topps trading cards we made a fun diorama that we really love!

We love the design because by placing the wall in the center of the floor, you get two dioramas in one. Almost a before and after display.

New dio and this time I'm doing a Deathtrooper beach head assault. The figures are Hasbro and the weapon DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle is from the Bandai Deathtrooper which my mate sent and was waiting for me when I got home. The troopers still need their joints filled and then they will repainted.

The E-11D blaster rifle is Hasbro's I just removed the plastic between the sliding rods and butt plate so it looks better. The base so far is Balsa wood and will have gaps filled and then sanded before adding the beach and water details.

Ron"

I can see this is gonna be fantastic!

Ron Hembling is back with a new Hovertank Pilot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 22 2016
"Hi All,

Picked up another Hover Tank driver and redid to be a Commander, I repainted him using Vallejo Paints and the insignia on the helmet is a decal from a 1/20th Ma.k kit.

The base is a piece of thick balsa wood and the ground is a mix of spakfilla, paint and water. The blue containers are Pepsi bottle lids and the other one is a Asthma container which has had a 1/72 scale idle will added to the top.

Ron"

Darth Optimus adds to his customs...

"Based on the classic arcade game (and later home console ports), this is my take on Strider Hiryu, ready for action. Equipped with a tonfa-style Cypher blade named "Falcion" (with removeable plasma wave FX), trusty folding Climb Sickle in shoulder sheath, all three Robot Option power-up sidekicks and the glider used to travel to the next levels, Strider Hiryu is ready to take on all enemies. Provided, of course, you brought enough quarters.

The Option Robots, mechanical semi-autonomous helper units, and are labeled thus -
Option A, Tripodal Robot
Option B, Panther Robot
Option C, Hawk Robot

Strider was built with a variety of GI Joe parts and topped with LEGO anime-styled hair. The kitbashed Cypher blade's plasma wave FX slides on/off and is cut from a paint-wiped "Magic: the Gathering" foil card. The climb Sickle is handmade from greeblies and fully opens/closes to sit in his shoulder sheath. The glider is just a repaint from a Joe glider. The Panther and Hawk sidekicks are repaints of animal accessories from "The Batman" series, the Tripodol unit is scratchbuilt. Lastly, Strider features a poseable scarf and magnets in his feet to better emulate the source materials."

It is great seeing his new work!

Griffen97 shows us his first custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, December 20 2016
"Hi everyone! I'm Griffen and I've been a viewer of the Yards for a few months now. I've seen alot of awesome customs here and have been wanting to learn myself and make custom figures for a long time. Here is my first custom. Compared to what I've seen, this isn't much of a custom; it's just a headswap and some accessories from other figures. I want to figure out how to paint figures to make it look even better but I still like it.

It always bothered me that Hasbro never made a female Rebel soldier figure, they appear in EA's Star Wars Battlefront and even as the Rebel Marksman class in the original first two games. So I made one myself."

Sure makes sense to me. I think she looks good and welcome to the Yards!

JDeck adds an explosion effect to his latest dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, December 18 2016
"Here is another example of some of the lighting effects I'll use. The lights are a fire kit from Evan's designs http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/fire-led.html. it really is great. Yes you could use the flicker tea lights, they're certainly a cheaper route. I like the fire kit because it's brighter and the flash is much more dramatic. Its all pre wired, you just select the bulb size (I used 1.8mm), voltage (9v) and wire length (14", better to have too long than too short.). You still have to buy the battery holder and switch. It's basically 1 solid orange bulb, 1 flashing red, 1 flashing yellow. The flash rates are at different speeds, and the effect is really cool. If you want a big flame you can use multiple kits, or supliment it with red, yellow or orange lights.

For the smoke i just fluffed up some cotton, and sprayed it flat black. Sometimes less is more, so just spray little squirts at a time. I still need to practice, by the time this is done I'll be an expert."

Reminds me of Barry Riddle's work and man it looks great! That reminds me I need to get off my duff and light up Barry's great explosion effect he sent me. Sorry Barry it is taking me so long!

Butterfingers is back with a mega update!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 15 2016
"Hey all,

Kind of hard to imagine it's been 3 months since my last post. Saw some of the pictures of the old customs I posted in the past and I decided I should post some updates. Here is a sneak peek at some figures I've been slowly working on some projects these past few months. Just been really busy lately.

Hopefully I can find the time to post more pictures later, but hope you all like them so far. More to come in the future."

There are a ton of new clones to peruse!

More Battle of Hoth from JDeck
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 15 2016
"Here is the beginning stage of the landscape. I'm just using a blue foam base with taped newspaper to create the basic topography. Sort of a model train technique. I still need to build up the generator side a little higher. I'll add more ground effects with plaster cloth, spackle and so forth. I still need to make a background too. Buncha stuff to do. Im hoping to get this done by new years."

Daggone, but this is really looking fantastic to me. He has already added some great lights to the lead Walker too. I can't wait to see what he does with this! What a way to bring in the new year!

Ajunta Pall is back with a new Rebels Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 15 2016
"Next up from the star wars rebels show is old Master Maul wip and the seventh sister. Had fun articulating these two although i still havent gotten around to articulating maul's knees and hips. The thin limbs of the seventh sister was a bit frustrating at times to dremel into to allow for articulation. Im overall happy with them so far. Thanks for looking

1) Old Master Maul ( wip)
2) Seventh sister ( S.A) finish
3) Maul before and after wip process
4) Seventh Sister stage 1 ( WIP- added lipstick paint and shoulder articulation only)
"

Pretty cool new custom action figures.

In addition to some great custom work he has given us some great background on these characters.

JDeck shares some intial lighting work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, December 14 2016
"I have a few ideas for lighting effects. Here is a taste of what I'm cooking up. I would like to have the laser "float", but this, I think is the best I can get. I used a .03" fiber optic, a 3mm red LED with a shrink tube connection. At first I used a 1/16" acrylic rod, but it was too wide for this scale. It's still in the experimental stage. I melted the tip of the fiber optic with a lighter, and painted the base of the optic with clear smoke, so it isn't a steady laser beam. I think it has the general look I wanted. I enjoy doing things like this, it involves a lot of problem solving."

Now that looks really, really awesome! I like the way JDeck cooks.

Darth Optimus shares a Robocop Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, December 13 2016
"The future of law enforcement. Using ideas from across the "Robocop" franchise (movie trilogy, tv series and tv movies in particular).

OCP Crime Prevention Units v1.2 - Alex Murphy and v3.1 - John Cable, or as their squad nicknames "Seek" (Cable) and "Destroy" (Murphy).

Their most dangerous foe is OCP CPU v2.3 - Cain (Urban Assault Armor). Cain was the third personality subjected to the "Robocop 2" program and the only one to survive. This unit was designed prior to Murphy's upgrade. An attempt was made to control him by addicting him to Nuke, but the drug and the cyborg process drove him insane. His flesh is deteriorating and he is utterly unpredictable. Heavier armor and a multitude of heavy assault weapons make him a formidable foe.

Murphy was upgraded into heavier armor some 20 years after he was brought on-line as Robocop. Built using v2.3's schematics, but with fewer weapons to keep his profile "heroic" for the press. He is outfitted with a pair of impressive forearm-mounted weaponry - a grenade launcher (with variable ammo) and a larger version of the Cobra Assault Rifle, the gun he used to destroy an ED-209. His frame is officially designated as OCP Crime Prevention Unit v1.2 (Urban Protection Armor). John Cable was selected to undergo the Robocop transformation in order to give Murphy a partner that offset his frame's inherent weaknesses. Cable is officially designated OCP Crime Prevention Unit v2.1 (Urban Recon Armor) and features hidden holsters in each thigh, a carry-over from the original Robocop design. His frame is far faster and more agile than Murphy's, but cannot stand up to prolonged firefights like Murphy's frame can.

No mods to the new (reboot) Robocop body, other than painting the human hand and an ink wash. The larger unit is built on an IM2 Drone body and a cast, shrunken Robocop head. The bad guy unit is the same body, zombie viper head and various bits 'n' pieces. Thanks for tuning in!"

Wow, just great stuff!

"Gunjap has images of the Bandai 1/6 Stormtrooper. http://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=317103

Daggone it one more awesome thing to have to buy. Looks very cool, I think the cost is around $70 USD. Pretty much the same as the 1/12 version just twice as big. I think it has extra articulation like in the toe. It also has a pre painted mouth grill in ANH fashion. It is specifically the OT version as opposed to rogue one."

I so need to pick up both versions of these!

Mandalore 25 shares a new Sith...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, December 12 2016
"The idea for this one struck me when I came across the image of Jedi Malak recently, that with such a plain black undersuit, a scuba diver would probably be the perfect base, and since the base is black to begin with, the only wear is on his ankles. However simple he seems, I did switch out the Joe shoulders for Star Wars shoulders, which can be difficult because you need to shorten the SW shoulder pins, but if you cut too much off they'll be loose. His neck, and shoulder armor is cut from a Neo Viper's body armor, with some shoulder pads I had laying around, and a strip of rubber on each side holding it all together as one piece. The head is from a Boss Fight blank, and the bits flowing down from his belt, and knee pads are cut from a sheet of rubber.

If anyone is interested, he's listed here:"

He looks good to me.

Happy Holidays Ron! Clonehead thinks Ron doesn't sleep. As many awesome custom projects he rolls out I am inclined to agree with him.

Ron Hembling gives us the finished shots of his 6" Luke...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, December 11 2016
"Hi All,

Here are the usual outdoor pics and this will be my last custom for the next 8 days as I will be away on holidays.

Recipe.

Luke - is from the Hasbro 6 inch BS and I replaced the tunic that came with it and got a new one from ebay, I glued the joints and puttied them and once dry I covered the pants and boots in tissue paper.

The helmet is the Luke 6 inch X-wing pilot I cut the yellow visor off and replaced it with a blast shield using plastic card. The markings were hand drawn on with a pencil and then I painted over the pencil.

Base - is a piece of thick balsa wood cut to size and then I used plastic card on the sides and also to make the grill section. Both Luke, equipment and base were painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Ron"

Now that is what I call a great recipe!

Helix88 also shares a great 6" Stormtrooper...

I'm really impressed by the kit. The detailing is very good for the scale. The light effects in the engines are very good. I would have preferred a nice display stand instead of the landing gear."

Folks that is just the start of his awesome review. And by the way, I also noticed this morning that Goldleader One got the very same kit and applied a great wash to it. More on that here.

Ron Hembling starts a new project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 9 2016
"Hi All,

While letting the plaster dry on the Look Sir Droids Dio I decided to make a small dio with Hasbro's BS 6" Farm boy Luke Training with his saber on the Falcon so far it's a WIP.

The joints have been glued except the upper body as the only joints that you'll see are the wrists. I will still need to putty the joints then add tissue on the legs and alter the wrap around and also using cloth for the boots.

The blast shield is BS 6" Luke X-wing Pilot and I cut the visor off and added the blast shield using plastic card. The base is a piece of thick Balsa wood and then I made the grate floor using plastic and covered the sides with plastic card as well.

Ron"

Now this is gonna be great!

"So I recently did a review on the Boss Fight Studio blank figures, and this is my first use of one with this Marvel Universe White Tiger (Ava Ayala). Using a white blank so there is no paint wear, I used the masked head she came with, and drilled a hole for the pony tail from another head she came with, so it swivels. The necklace, and catlike ears are sculpt. Then a little paint, with glow in the dark for the eyes, and necklace.

If anyone is interested, she's listed here:"

Wow, she looks great. And don't forget to go take a look at those Boss Fight Studio Blanks. As you can see, they make excellent base figures and coming in a variety of colors you can eliminate the dreaded paint wear!

JDeck is figuring out the distance to the Power Generator...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 8 2016
"I started making the power generator today. I used 4 Icebreakers mints containers, 8 condiment containers with lids, styrene strips and a plastic tube. The good thing is my breath will be minty fresh for the next several days, the bad thing is I don't know if I'll use it in my diorama. The generator was quite a distance from the battlefield. The entire diorama will be at most 2.5 feet, so in 1/150 scale its about 114 meters. Well within point blank firing range of an AT-AT. :( It'll be one of those last minuet decisions, we'll see. It depends how I want to do it. If the scene is at the end of the battle, that might work."

Seems kind of a shame if he doesn't use it, but that just means he will have to have another Hoth dio the way I see it!

Darth Optimus is back with a second Wastelander...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 8 2016
"Here is the next occupant of the Wastelands - Thomas Longclaw, nomadic werewolf lawman. Thomas is an oasis of fair justice in the desert of lawlessness that is the Wastelands. He travels the Fury Road, stopping along the way, offering his services to any settlement that needs it, free of charge. He only asks for as much water as he can carry in his pack, and nothing more. Thomas was once an ordinary man, and a police officer. When the latest Apocalypse Event took place, he was changed into a man/wolf hybrid. He retained all his cognitive abilities and gained the strength and senses of a wolf. No one knows how or why Thomas was stricken with lycanthropy. Some believe it is just another Curse from when the sky rained fire and the cities were torn asunder."

As you can see he is creating a great verse to go with his great customs. I could so see me buying the series of novels that would go with this.

Ron Hembling updates us on his Look Sir Droids Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 8 2016
"Hi All,

On the final stages of the Look Sir Droids diorama. As you can see I have the sides attached and have almost filled the ground work up with scraps of foam and foam board this will keep the dio light.

I have to give the foam 24 hours to dry before I start doing the actual ground work because if I don't the spakfilla and paint mix will interact with the glue and the glue won't dry.

Ron"

Looks fantastic to me!

Ron Hembling does a Dio Three Pack for new Rogue One Figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, December 7 2016
"Hi All,

Here are the usual pics of Erso, Andor and KS20.

The figures are Hasbro's BS 6" series and I glued the joints then puttied them and once dry I covered Erso and Andor clothes in tissue and once dry painted and weathered them. I removed Andor's fake for hood and replaced it with fake fur. KS20 was just repainted and weathered.

The bases were done by using balsa wood for the base itself and the wall is foam board and balsa wood. I tore off areas of the foam board and scribed bricks into the foam using a pen and pencil, I then impressed a sandstone into the foam to give it a more natural look.

I then mixed spakfill and paint and covered the walls and ground and the objects on two of the dios are inhaler lids. Once the spakfilla and paint mix was dry I painted and weathered them.

Ron"

Talk about taking something good and making it excellent. I so like seeing him get new figures knowing he is gonna make a dio out of most of them eventually. He also gives a small review on what he thinks of Hasbro's new six inch figures too so be sure to scroll around.

JDeck starts a Hoth Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, December 7 2016
"Here is a sneak preview of my next project. I bought a 1996 AMT battle of Hoth action scene model kit. Its a direct repack of the 1981 MPC battle on ice planet Hoth snapfit kit. It comes with a diorama base, 2 AT-ATs in walking positions, 1 AT-AT in a destroyed position. 1 AT-ST, 3 Snowspeeders, 3 rebel turret cannons, 2 rebel dish type cannons, 1 X-Wing and several Rebel soldiers, along with several snowtroopers. The kit is basically 1/150 scale, but its all over the map. Thats why I never got this kit before. Until I realized no other manufacturer will ever make these models anywhere near the same scale.

I'm going to make another shelf diorama, similar to the Endor one, but a different scale. First I'll toss the base, it's just a piece of vac form plastic. I plan to make my own, out of insulation foam board. Which means I'll have to scratch build a power generator, nothing fancy, I think a chewed up piece of gum would be an improvement to the one in the kit."

Looks like he is gonna make lemonade out of a lemon!

Needless to say I think these look fantastic and it is easy to see they are super articulated. Oh Hasbro, the pain of you not making figures like this!

Legion078 updates us on his Corporate Alliance Tank Droid...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, December 6 2016
"Here's just a quick update:

I collected some reference material and right now I am looking for suitable parts to use for the secondary canons...stay tuned for the final paint job. And sorry for the long time of waiting...

So here are some in game shots of Star Wars Battlefront II - Kashyyyk

I use an empty refill (of a pen) for the canons, but I still need to add a couple parts:"

His new part looks spot on with the in game reference images. I like it, I haven't seen much customizing of this particular vehicle.

Legion078 adds arty to Darth Revan...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, December 5 2016
"I would like to share a little modification of the TAC 3 3/4" Darth Revan with you. About half a year ago I got a modified version of Darth Revan from eBay. I talked to the guy who sold this to me and he said he had kit-bashed his Revan because the original has got no articulation in his legs...he told me that he took the legs of Luke Skywalker (TLC Comic Pack - Empire II) for this project. Two weeks ago I got the original version of Revan, too. So now I can show you a direct comparison.

And since the new 6" Darth Revan starts hitting shelves at the moment I thought it was a good time to share this one."

Click through to see the full recipe and description. I think its just makes so much sense. Always add the arty!

Ron Hembling finishes his 6" Hovertank Cupola...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, December 4 2016
"Hi All,

The cupola section and commander are now done, I sprayed the cupola with Tamiya's JLN Grey and then gave it three light washes of watered down black and once dry I dry brushed silver and gun metal to show the wear and tear.

I then painted the borders black and then gave the cupola and commander a weathering using pastel chalks to finish them off.

Ron"

Daggone that looks good Ron!

Gold Leader One adds a wash to his latest builds...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, December 4 2016
"I finally learned the wash technique, and after a few runs I applied it to the Rogue One U-wing and TFA Millennium Falcon Revell kits. I never realized just how easy this was, and now I'm looking to go back and apply some washes to some of my past customs. These ships needed a wash, they were practically white, especially the U-wing."

I like the new look!

More model news from JDeck!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, December 3 2016
"Im not sure how this got past my radar but Zvezda is making a 1/2700 Star Destroyer. Zvezda is pretty nice Russian model manufacturer. At over 20 inches its said to be the largest licenced star wars model kit in production. You'd be right thinking its going to cost a pretty penny. I've seen listings at a very high cost and shipping from Russia is outrageous. Release date is sometime this month."

Wow, that looks great. Look for us to feature more info when we find it!

Brandon Flores inspires Ron Hembling's latest work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, December 3 2016
"Hi All,

When I saw Brandon Flores's 6" Hover Tank I knew I had to make something for my Hover Tank Pilot which will be painted to a Hover Tank Commander.

I couldn't make the full hover tank due to room so I decided to make the Hover Tank's Cupola section. The lower base section was done using foam board and then I used plastic card to cover the base. The cupola and the other pieces were made using plastic card, military model parts, lego piece and a battery.

Ron"

Pretty cool if I do say so myself!

Ajunta Pall corrects some errors...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 2 2016
"So I picked up two shoretroopers/scarif troopers yesterday from my local walmart, and I noticed the box said "Scarif stormtrooper squad leader" but when I did a little research on the ranking system they are using for Rogue One I realized that these were not in fact squad leaders but normal troopers. So I decided to repaint them to reflect the higher ranking officers starting with captain. Later i'll do one of the squad leader which is the one that comes with Moroff in the 5poa two pack."

Yepper, definitely looks a ton better and it now more authentic.

Darth Optimus is back after a long hiatus!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 2 2016
"So, hello 'Yarders. It's been a long while. I don't really do SW customs anymore. I've moved onto my own 'verse, which is "The Wastelands". It was inspired by the "Mad Max" franchise (especially "Fury Road"), but is not limited to it. The Wastelands are populated with monsters, mutants, warlords, demigods, robots...pretty much whatever I think is cool.

With that, though...my first custom in the "Wastelands" is "Mad" Max Rokatansky, former Main Force Police officer. The look is a gestalt of his movie looks, with artistic license. My timeline takes place shortly after "Fury Road", with Max liberating a car and motorcycle from Immortan Joe's motorpool and heading out. The cycle "stows" in the passenger side of the car, in-universe. The rear of the car has been modded to house all manner of removeable gear and equipment. All of Max's gear is fully removeable, as well."

Remember folks we love our Star Wars here at ISY, but we also love all kinds of customizing and genres including the great verse Darth Optimus is exploring. So cool to have him back!

Bronxstalker doesn't give into high prices and makes a great custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, December 2 2016
"I'm a glutton for punishment. I wanted one of those Titanfall 6" Threezero figures, but at a few hundred dollars, it's well beyond my price range...so I decided to make my own, using a standard marvel legend figure.

It's still a work in progress, but here's my humble beginnings and where it's at currently."

That seems like such a cool game. I need to find both versions and get ready for snow days!

Ron Hembling is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 1 2016
"Hi All,

Completed the Escape Pod for the dio and this is almost identical to the Drop Zone dio pod I did except that I used Vallejo Paint lids for the thrusters.

I sold my Drop Zone dio a little while back and started on this to make a Drop Zone dio with the pod doors open but when the client wanted the Look Sir Droids dio I decided that this one will go to that.

The main pod is a PVC pipe and I added the details from an old MPC Falcon kit I got of ebay and also plastic card, wire and 1:35 scale WW2 parts.

The pod was sprayed with Tamiya JLN Grey and then weathered with Vallejo paints and pastels. I also wanted a little more scorching on it and I did that by mixing plaster of paris and black/brown pastel chalks and and a little PVA glue and added it over the pod.

Ron"

Daggone that looks fantastic!

JDeck is back with even more Bandai News...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, December 1 2016
"This isn't a model kit but I thought it was really cool. Bandai is making this AT-AT multi stand. It's a desk organizer with drawers, coin holder, pencil holder, USB cord holder, and all kinds of stuff. Its also fully articulated. They claim its 1/72, I must have a much bigger estimation of the size of an AT-AT. Hobby_japan has them on pre-order for $89.80+ $33.80 S&H. Release date is Dec. 15 2016.

Hobby_japan also has the death trooper for sale at $20.80+ $9.80 S&H, he also combines shipping. I've dealt with him numerous times and if you want multiple bandai kits he's a great seller."

Works for me!
