JDeck shows us his WIP for the latest Custom Challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 31 2016
"Here's a WIP of my AT gunner. He's a Tropical version, for planets/moons such as Endor, Kashyyyk, etc. Just a real simple kitbash of figures and parts. I may make some modifications, paint APS and such. Been a while since I've done a figure, It was fun to build."

Don't forget you still have plenty of time to create your I.M.P.S. Heavy Gunner for our latest challenge. You can find the details here.

"Like many of you I cant wait for the action figures to be announced for Rogue One. I hope we get some articulation this time....In the meantime here is a Resistance technician using parts from Toryn Farr, Mara Jade and Luminara Unduli. More to come..."

Definitely gonna have to get a Rogue One Challenge going after our current one is up thats for sure!

The Spectre is back with various statuary...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 31 2016
"I created all of these last year just prior to my "cardiac unpleasentness" and realized that I had never shared these. People that follow me on Twitter and Facebook will have already seen these as WIPs, but I have never presented finished pics."

Folks there are a bunch of em, all with awesome back stories. I really like the God of the Air as you see above.

OC47150 is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 31 2016
"Long overdue for posting some more customs. Made the time to take some pix today and here are some of the results.

First up are two generic Jedi, a male and a female. For the male, I used an Obi-Wan body, the arms from Talon Kaarde and the head is from one of the Target two-packs.

I used a TPM Adi Galia body and the Scarlet Witch head for the female Jedi. Added a head post for the SW's head to work.

The next one is an Imperial Security Bureau officer. Used the Imp body from a comic two-pack with Luke in disguise, a head from an extra Imp officer and repainted accordingly."

It was great to see an update and there are many great figures to peruse.

Thinking of you this Memorial Day Holiday!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 30 2016
As a veteran I am reminded that holidays like today are never really free. There are thousands and thousands of folks today who will not have quite as good of a time as their relatives put their lives on the line for our way of life.

We here at Imperialshipyards.net want to say thank you and we support you!

Take sometime today folks to remember all of our veterans and current acting armed forces as they keep us free!

Ron Hembling finishes his Obi Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 30 2016
"Hi All,

Obi is done and I will get my usual pics tomorrow.

I painted his hands so they and the head match with skin tones. The hands will be able to turn and the saber can be removed so it hangs on the hook.

Ron"

Talk about one fantastic base and custom action figure. I am still reeling over that paint job Ron gave Obi's head.

Stronox delves into 6" Customizing!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 30 2016
"At first, I was very hesitant about whether or not to get into the larger scaled figs. However, after finally getting myself some I see how great they really are and look forward to Hasbro getting even better at making and releasing more characters...Of course, more characters means more customs to create...Here, I have created Pre Vizsla out of a Jango Fett...Just some of the highlights in creating this figure include, smoothing out the helmet(no dent or antenna), modding the thigh armor, gauntlets, jetpack, and holsters, custom dark saber and dual pistols, a fabric cape, and a new belt. I have many more plans for the 6 inch scale series upcoming..."

All I can is welcome to the Darkside Stronox. Daggone folks you talk about one fantastic custom. The level of detail is just awe inspiring. Click here to go add this to your collection on eBay.

Larifari shows new speeder for his figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 30 2016

What he makes in one day Hasbro could sell for years and years. How many of these would you buy? Such awesome speeders!

Dan spots the Target Exclusive AT-DP at Dollar Store!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 30 2016
"Saw some poorly distributed Target exclusives at a "dollar store" in Passaic, NJ.

I do not recall even seeing this once when they were carried at Target.

I left both of them (and the Inquisitor's TIE w/Inquisitor) as I have no interest in this piece but wanted to share the sighting as I know people were looking for this 2 years back."

Kinda sad ain't it! ;)

Coruscanti Moff shares a diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 29 2016
"During the Battle of Hoth, Lord Vader enters the battlefield aboard his personal transport. The Imperial walkers squashes the traitors before his eyes. This is truly our finest hour."

I sure do like the subject material for this. That cockpit shot coming in on those Walkers is awesome!

JDeck finishes his Rebel Alliance Crane AT-TE!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 29 2016
"Kitbashing of this sort takes a lot of cutting and test fitting, along with a vast amount of model kit parts. The two frame pieces were actually meant for the 20mm FLaK, but in 2 different scales grey 1/35 and tan 1/48, for some reason they mashed up well for this application.

I added more greebles to the rear. I gave it a bunch of brackets and braces, to make it look stripped down. Once its all painted the same color it'll look better. I'm not sure if I want to add the front ball turrets, they aren't my style. I was thinking since the crane assembly is detachable, I could build other variants, like AA gun, backhoe or flatbed."

Sounds like a great idea to me. I really could so see the Rebel Alliance doing this sort of thing and repurposing some Clone Wars Era Vehicles! Cool project JDeck!

Ron Hembling shares head painting tutorial...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 29 2016
"Hi All

A member over at the Bandai Star Wars FB page asked how would I paint up a 1/12 Old Ben Kenobi head so here is how I did it.

I got the head from Greg Glassman and here is he's FB page
https://www.facebook.com/greg.glassmancustoms/photos_albums

I first cleaned the head by just putting it some warm water and then give it a quick wash with washing detergent.

Pic 1 - I pianted the head using Reaper paints Tanned Skin.
Pic 2 - Then painted it using Vallejo Flat Flesh
Pic 3 - Then I gave it a medium wash using Burnt Sienna
Pic 4 - I then very lightly dry brushed it with Caucasian Flesh
Pic 5 - I then mixed some White and Red to get a Medium Pink colour and painted the eye.
Pic 6 - Then I mixed some White and Tanned Flesh to get a Medium Wite and painted over the eye again.
Pic 7 - I then painted in Black circles.
Pic 8 - I then pained in a Medium Blue and made sure to leave a thin black edge.
Pic 9 - Then I painted over the Medium Blue with a Lighter Blue.
Pic 10 - I then painted the iris's in using Black.
Pic 11 - I then painted the hair, brows and beard using Vallejo's Medium Grey.
Pic 12 - Then I dry Brushed over the grey using Vallejo's White.
Pic 13 - Then I lightly gave the hair and Beard a very light wash of Vallejo's White and I then darkened the brows using Vallejo's Black and Dark Brown. I also gave the lips a darker look using a mix of Reapers Tanned Flesh and Vallejo's Flat Flesh.
Pic 14-17 - Are the final pics of how he turned out before I put him on it's body and do the outfit.

Ron"

This is a step by step process with images tutorial folks. Talk about one awesome progression!

Stronox answers a wash question...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 29 2016
"A question was asked about how I do washes...While I mix my own washes most of the time I do use citadel from time to time. It all Depends on the look I am trying to get... I may apply paint, wash, then go back over areas in the original color or I may leave it depending on how the wash looks when dry. Or I may go over in a lighter color post wash, or I may drybrush post wash or pre wash. There really is no one rule set on how I do it. To me, that is what makes customizing fun, all the different things you can do to get various looks for any given character to make it your own work of art! Lastly, I would say the only real one sure rule I use is prep, prep, prep, before painting...And that is a whole lot of trial and error too, but is about 90% of a lasting and durable finish."

Words of advice from a customizing master!

A new update from Ron Hembling...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 28 2016
"Hi All,

I finished doing the shell for the cockpit and added the axel areas for the legs. I will be doing the old back burner to this at the moment as I'm waiting for my plasti card to get here so while I'll wait for that I start something else.

Ron"

This is really gonna be great. I so enjoy Ron's Projects!

Panther starts work on a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 28 2016
"Hi all.

Not much of an update but I've managed to start work on T7-01. I've created a body from foam core, which you can tell at the moment is held together wit masking tape. I will be making the back wheel struts out of adhesive but for the moment a couple of pieces of foam and cocktail sticks.

Like I said, its not much but he is starting to take shape."

I know I can definitely see the potential.

Blizzard Force is back with a modern Vintage Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 28 2016
"I could have thought of this day a bit earlier to shoot a pic of my custom 12backs...or some more Star Wars figures...but alas, I spent my time working on two more ESB figures. Well, happy Birthday to Star Wars, anyway... ;D :)

So now, let's switch over to the icy wastes of Hoth, where Rebels and Imperials are battling it out in a fierce fight. ;) I thought it fitting to complete these two together somehow...

ESB - Rebel Soldier (Hoth Battle Gear)"

This is the second of two awesome Hoth Figures he has done a modern vintage retake on.

Mandalorian Bookends now shipping!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 28 2016
"The Mandalorian war culture was embraced by Bounty Hunter Boba Fett after the death of his father Jango. The Mandalorian logo, emblazoned on Boba Fett’s shoulder armor, has gained as much popularity (if not more) than the Imperial Cog logo and the insignia of the Rebel Alliance.

Gentle Giant Ltd has taken this iconic insignia and fashioned it into a stunning set of bookends for use with books, video games, DVDs, or just as a stand alone decoration. This Mandalorian Logo bookend will look great on your entertainment center, or in your library! Hand cast in resin and hand painted, this limited edition piece is both collectible AND practical. May the Force be with you! (DVDs not included)."

This one is gonna be over the top too!

The Spectre shows us the "Skull Mound" of Tolkein III...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, May 27 2016
"On the Outer Rim World of Tolkien III, and ancient evil "wizard" used his sheer force of will to corrupt and sculpt the landscape to his whim, raising a stone mound from which to rule over his empire. His twisted psyche carved the stones of the mound in the images of skulls and he crafted himself a foreboding skull topped throne. A bronzoid door leads to a black and dank dungeon while cyclopean steps lead to the upper throne level.

This is just a fragment of the full story as I still have to build and paint the evil "wizard", his followers and his subjects. The H.A.C.K.S. figure is just a stand in to show scale."

Wow, this is an evil masterpiece. Wow Dan!

Darth Daddy revisits two custom figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, May 27 2016
"Revisited two older figures that annoyed me every time I looked at them. I finally put these two to bed. Readjusted the headsculpt on Bo Katan and on Ione Marcy. Also made adjustments to Ione Marcy's torso and gave her knee articulation too."

I like the look of em.

Gold Leader One paints up an MM Falcon...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, May 27 2016
"I recently picked up the Micro Machines Falcon playset that transforms into Jakku. I got it for $11 on clearance at Walmart. With how cheap it is I figured I'd use it for custom purposes. Just trying to test weathering it, giving it a battle worn look. I just did a simple dry brush with black and added in some silver marks as a blast effect.

Just wanted to get some opinions on how it looks. Constructive criticism is welcomed as this is my first time doing this so just looking to get all the help I can. Thanks!"

Wow, now thats a deal on the set. I like the look of it!

Added some resources for our latest custom challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, May 26 2016
I have a few messages from folks who were wanting some idea of where they could find parts and resources to build their Heavy Gunner so I quickly scrounged up the following:

Resources for parts and supplies:

eBay TESB Snow Trooper Link

eBay AT-AT Driver Link

Amazon Snow Trooper Link

Amazon AT-AT Driver Link

If anyone else finds great deals, email or pm me and I can get em listed. Figured that might help some folks out as the Snow Trooper and the AT-AT Driver are probably gonna be the base figures most folks use.

JDeck shows us his progress on his AT-CRAB...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, May 26 2016
"I think its the most practical use of an AT-TE, for the Rebels. I'm not sure what to call this contraption, I was thinking The C.R.A.B. (Construction. Recovery. Armored. Base-defender.). I went ahead and threw together the crane frame. Its made of model kit frames, attached to key structural parts of the vehicle. Now that the hard part is done, all the other parts should fit as intended."

I can't wait to see this one finished. Such a cool concept!

Legacy Rebel Hoth Soldier, new head and modified helmet/scarf combo, artillery remote from the "Search for Luke Skywalker" figure set, partially repainted
Real happy I found the original source pic for Kenner's vintage Rebel Soldier, as well. That way I could "demirror" it (the Grenades are now on the right side, literally) for my cardback...

ESB - Snowtrooper Commander

Ron Hembling gives us a sand tutorial...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 25 2016
"Hi All,

The figures have been based and the sand as been laid and for the size of the base here is how and what I used to make the sand.

Pic 1 - 3 Tablespoons of Plaster of Paris.
Pic 2 - 5 Tablespoons of fine sand.
Pic 3 - Mix the both together before adding water.
Pic 4 - Add water and mix until you have a type of pancake consistency."

There are two more posts that finish the tutorial and it is great to see how he does it and gets the realism we all strive for. Great stuff Ron!

Clone Troopr is back with an E7 Han!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 25 2016
"Seen quite a few people make super articulated versions of the 3.75" Han Solo from Episode 7, and I couldn't help but make my own. However, I do have to credit the inspiration to BlackThorne, since it was his rendition that finally pushed me to make my own version. I used a Endor Han Walmart Exclusive Black Series 3.75" figure and an Episode VII Han Solo 3.75" 5 POA figure from the Build-A-Weapon line. Enjoy

Ball-joint at the neck was sanded down to fit the head, and I added a thigh strap to the holster. Painted the boots, arms, hair, and pistol grip."

Ah, super-arty is such a way to go! It looks great!

Zuckuss, Bossk, Dengar, and Boba have all been given GI Joe Style hip articulation and modified heights to better match. IG-88 has been given a full metal paint job, and 4-Lom has been re made using parts from the newer 3PO for a better overall look along with interchangeable chest plates..."

IG-88, Bossk, and Boba Fett

Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM

Talk about fantastic. I am still trying to push my jaw back into place after Stronox unhinged it yesterday! Needless to say you can find all 6 here to add to your collection. You are gonna have to fight me for a few of em! I don't think I have seen as definitive versions of these as Stronox has made. Bravo Sir!

Ron Hembling working on his Storm Troopers for his Tatooine Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 24 2016
"Hi All,

Pic 1 and 2 - The seams on the troopers have had light black wash to give the armour more depth.

Pic 3 and 4 - I then gave the troopers a whole light wash using matt black.

Pic 5 and 6 - I then painted the vent on top of the helmet and mouth area with light grey. I painted the vents on the side using medium blue and once dry gave a light dry brush to make it more universal.

Pic 7 and 8 - The weapons were painted matt black and dry brushed silver and once dry I gave it a very watered down wash of matt black to tone down the silver.

Pic 9 AND 10 - The back packs were also painted the same way as the weapons and the blue/grey areas were painted with a 50/50 mix of light blue/grey and the white areas were painted white then a wash of matt black and then dry brushed white.

Ron"

As you can see by Ron's post there is a lot more to see than the pic I used above. Fantastic project yet again by the customs master!

Steezy Collector is back with a new custom...

"Added a custom Darth Zannah to my collection

I have been wanting to make this feisty female for a while and actually started a first version using a Jaina Solo body, which is now being used for another Sith Lady (stay tuned) but I definitely like this body alot more for her, although I know I am not the first to use it.

Baroness body
Scarlet head
Darth Maul Lightsaber

I kept the hair red for now, that is subject to chance once I do another paint purchase."

Looks like a good recipe to me.

Blizzard Force is back with a modern Vintage Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 23 2016
"At the moment I'm concentrating on carding more figures...I don't have enough time for ambitious conversions/repaints due to family/house/work (in no particular order ;) ). I'll do a bit of customizing/repainting as long as it's necessary for the figure, but there's just so much (fun things) to do, so little time... ;)

I've already finished a few more designs, hope to have the next figure(s) done this week... :)

It's one of the (if not the) most iconic and important scenes in the original trilogy....and as any other Star Wars collector, I have a more than ample stack of Vader figures (Hasbro sure shelled out a lot of them over the years ;) )...so why not kill two birds with one stone?"

Now that is my kind of thinking!

Steezy Collector shares a Female Mando...

The weapon is also customized and is kit bash of 3 or so guns.
I shortened the stock, added a scope and a barrel with a muzzle so it can double as an assault rifle or a medium range sniper.

I went for a simple colour scheme for now. I might revisit her later an add some more colour to her helmet or arms to compliment the deco on the gun later."

I think she looks perfect.

Jon K is back with a new KOTOR Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 23 2016
"Obviously continuing with my quest to complete my KOTOR cast, here's Carth Onasi:

Pretty straightforward build on this one. Mostly a repaint of the 30th Anniversary Yavin Luke, with the head of a TVC Naboo Royal Guard and a little greenstuff sculpting for the hair."

Looks pretty good to me!

Star Wars plus your favorite sports team equals awesome!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 22 2016
A friend of mine got back from a Baltimore Orioles Game this past week and was sporting a You Underestimate the Power of the Baltimore Orioles Flag. Well after seeing that I had to go on a hunt to see if they make one for my Steelers. As you can see they do. Click here to go find your favorite NFL Team.

Matter of fact I also found out they have these flags for:

Major League Baseball

Colleges

vertical NFL Banners

Darth Vader Can Coolers

Yoda Can Coolers

I think these are great fun and a good way to let folks know you like Star Wars and support your local professional or collegiate sports teams.

They sure do seem great to me!

Ron Hembling continues his Tatooine Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 22 2016
"Hi All,

Not much of an update but it's something. I had to make another base as I'm running out of room so instead of four figures this new one will have two sandies and the probe droid.

The probe droid will get its final weathering done to it once the sandies are done and they were built straight out of the box.

Ron"

He has already updated since this update too so make sure you scroll down!

"After workshopping this chapter with a few members of Yakface, I decided to re-do almost all of Brior's dialogue in this chapter, and omit one frame that had poor composition. I edited the original post, and this is now officially the updated version."

Take a look at the new version!

Note the T-Shirt this mom wears, oh yes had to be an artful and brilliant mind there too!

Darth Daddy is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 21 2016
"If someone asked me a few months ago, if I planned on making the Nik Sant action figure anytime soon, my answer most likely would have been, no. Maybe at some point I would have gotten to it, but because of a comment Star Wars Rebels producer Dave Filoni made back in March of this year in which he stated that Captain Rex was the white bearded Endor Rebel soldier that we watched in Return of the Jedi, once affectionately referred to as Nik Sant by fans due to his resemblance to Saint Nick; suddenly, the desire to create this version of him in plastic shot right to the top of the list of things I wanted to get done!

Rex was one of the coolest characters to come out of The Clone Wars television series. The idea that Rex lived to fight on Endor and had front row seats to the destruction of the second Death Star just warms the heart.

I actually bid on an action figure version of him on eBay right after the story dropped. The price went over a $100, and I gracefully bowed out knowing I could make a No-Paint-Kit-Bash replica that was exactly like the one in the auction for about $40. Maybe even for less if I still had some of the parts I needed in my fodder.

To make this custom action figure, I used the hat and body of the 1st Release 2010 Star Wars Vintage Collection - Return Of The Jedi Endor Rebel Soldier. The vest and backpack I grabbed off an extra 1st version of the Endor Rebel Soldier from the 2002 Star Wars Return Of The Jedi SAGA collection. Lastly, the head I popped off the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Templar Knight action figure.

All it took was a wardrobe change and headswap to make this great looking figure!"

I agree it looks great!

Eric sends news for Hole in the Ground Productions...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, May 21 2016
"Well, this next new item is something I never expected to make but someone asked me if I could. A piece of the debris outside the cantina! Because of the design, I didn't feel it could be resin cast properly. So, the kit will come with two sizes of PVC tube (precut) and a series of precision cut pieces that interlock to make the "stadium". There will be some flashing on the parts that need shaved off with a hobby knife first. Then its pretty straight forward.

In looking at screen shots its very hard to gauge the size. I'd imagine that the piece of debris is supposed to be larger than what I made though. However, size = cost and while I can certainly make it larger as a custom part if someone wanted to me, I stuck with something that isn't so big as to be a problem if dealing with limited space. This size is 4.5" diameter. If someone really really wants a bigger custom size, please email me through my website and we can talk about it. If you want one sized as is, its available for order now.

Next up is a preview of the next item in the pipeline. More walls... or would that be doorways? Or maybe bulkheads? Well, I don't know what to call them, just that they look cool and will likely be my last Tantive inspired item. This is 99% finished and will be ready to order probably within a week. Ok, so what's after THAT you say? Well, I'm always open to any ideas you want to pitch my way. After all, its how you end up with debris! LOL Some of the items that I intended to make in regards to larger "rooms" and things of that nature would be two impractical and/or expensive to do. However, I am open to doing commissioned type items that can be precision cut like the debris kit is."

As always, you can check out the full description and list of products at Holeintheground.com.

Of course they had me at AT-ACT! Click here to read the full story.

Also, while pre-ordering the former on Amazon.com I also noticed two other great books I also had to order in the form of

and

Star Wars Rogue One Ultimate Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo

that are also gonna be surefire sell outs so you might want to get your pre-orders in!

Panther is back with more SWTOR Customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 18 2016
"Finally got round to doing another couple of SWTOR customs. I found a someone on eBay who did awesome Republic Trooper helmets. After dremmeling the clone troopers face down, it fits like a glove and goes well with the clone trooper. Obviously I styled it on the 2012 Trooper release (wish they didn't cost an absolute fortune now!)

Sergeant Rusk is another obvious clone trooper repaint with Mas Amedda's head dremmeled on.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, the rest of them can be found on:
https://www.facebook.com/richardscreativeworkshop/"

I am definitely gonna have to fit in some time to go peruse his new FB Page!

Starchaser is back with a Wookie Jedi...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 18 2016
"Finished another project that's been sitting in my queue for a long time. This is Teshugan, a Wookiee Jedi that survived the Clone Wars. Slightly smaller than the average Wookiee and having an relatively rare black pelt, Teshugan would have faced an up-hill battle as a child, but the Jedi found he was force sensitive and took him off-world to be trained as a Jedi. Teshugan has an affinity for flora and fauna and served the Jedi Order as an excellent explorer, but was not well known to most Jedi because he rarely returned to the Temple or any other Jedi enclave. He preferred to meet up with other traveling Jedi to pass along his notes and discoveries so as not to loose time in the meetings and other inevitable formalities that accompanied a return to established Jedi centers - it was this pattern and contributed to his survival of the Clone Wars."

Talk about a great back story for a most excellent custom jedi.

What should our next challenge be?
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
We have had some great ideas floating around and have decided everyone is going to make their take on one character. We just need to know which character you would like and then we will put together a poll and decide. Thanks so much to Mandalore 25 and Jon K for really putting some great thought into getting us this far. I like it when great minds come together!

Steezy Collector gives us a new update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
"I challenged myself to kitbash and paint up a custom Jedi general for my custom ARF trooper squad.
Here's the outcome!

Body/legs/upper arm - Some Mace Windu I had a spare of
Forearms - Cobra Commander
Head - A random GI joe head from my fodder draw
Hands - Clone trooper hands
Custom made lightsaber also"

Now that is a great looking parts mix. Of course a good paint job always works too!

Ron Hembling updates us on his latest dio progress...

"Hi All,

Not much of a update for the Tatooine Patrol, I just got my old probe droid that I built back in 2014 and I removed the arms and repositioned them and gave it two coats of German Grey and have started adding chipping to it.

Ron"

Talk about paint working some wonders on a factory product.

Cantina Customs is back with an Alien Rebel Pilot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
"This is the first commission I've ever done, and I'm happy with the results. I hope my friend is to!

Nikto Rebel Pilot:

head- Klaatu, TVC
body- Luke Skywalker, TSC
hands- some random Darth Maul... (the figure was helmet-less and hand-less when I got him)
helmet- Porkins helmet, modified to fit the head perfectly.

I love making alien versions of pilots and jedi."

He looks pretty nice to me.

Mr. Jedi 1977 is back with his third huge update of the year...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
"Hello again all ! another update starting with the M-YHD droid or (stovetop) droid hat to watch the scene a few times to make sure i had something as accurate as possible next up is a battle of Yavin damaged r2-d2 hit from vaders tie fighter . ZThis figure was made already i just enhanced it with paint and a plastic arm to look like it was coming out of the body . I have the updated death star gunner and a death star droid. Last is Emperor Palpatine . This was a fun on but if i messed up it would have been a costly mistake . First i took the head off the saga palpatine which i though looked good . But if anyone has trie it the head is flat with no hair . So i took my Legacy version based on the original emperor cut the face off till i got the hair . I then glued the hair on the other head filled in the gaps with sculpy painted it up and i think it paid off and very happy with him . I also sculpted the clasp for his cloak ... Back again soon with a carded update."

I really enjoyed that R2. I always wondered why Hasbro has never made that version of R2.

DaBooma is back with a double Han Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
"Hey guys! Just finished another Marauder figure. This time it's Han rocking some Marauder armor.

Head, vest and holster are from a VC Endor Han. Everything else is from Marauder Inc.

He also shares an update on an older Han from about six years ago. Both are great, but that Marauder Han is fantastic!

Starchaser is back with a Cyborg Wookie!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 17 2016
"I add to the Star Wars universe - Bochuffu, a Wookiee mercenary. "Bo" survived a slave uprising on Mygeeto, but lost an arm in the process. Having been a Separatist industrial planet during the Clone Wars, there were plenty of droid parts laying around, which became a prosthetic for him (complete with weapons). He now plies the space lanes selling his strength, rage and guns to the highest bidder (or whoever he happens to like at the moment)."

That SBD Arm looks great on him! I always like seeing an update from Starchaser!

The figure in the original Hasbro 3,75" figure, I removed the Ysalamiri because it's not on the cardback picture either. No worries, it's being kept safely and animal-friendly on a small tree in my bits box..."

Ron Hembling shows us his Jawa Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 15 2016
"Hi All,

The Jawa dio is almost complete I just have to weather the base/figures/equipment.

The Jawa's eyes were done by using small joint connectors and cut them in half. The weapon was done by using the pistol from the Bandai Stormtrooper and then I cut the scope off and the barrel was done using plasti card and the cord is just old computer cable.

The harness was made using leather and cutting out the desired shape and the pouches are from a Marvel figure. The droids I built ages ago and have been waiting for a dio to put them on, the machine gun is from the Bandai Sandtrooper and the junk on the ground are pieces of an old 1/6 machine gun.

The crates were done using plasti card and the tarp is some old material just was glued done then painted.

Ron"

Ron is so quick I can't keep up! As of this posting he has already started a new project too!

The Boo is back with a new X-Wing Maquette!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 15 2016
"Hey all!

Well, I finished my X-wing! This one was a lot of fun, but cramming everything in was a bit of a pain. Not sure what the next project will be, might not be another maquette since the wife wants a full-size Tom Servo :D

So, first I started with an F/X X-wing from 1996. I took it apart, and started cutting. I had to take out the switches and slides, then patch the holes and greeblie it up. I was going off photos of the original shooting model."

Folks to say this turned out just as great as his TIE would be an understatement. The electronics are also a must see too. So cool!

How cool is this!

Darth Daddy is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 15 2016
"R4-M1 was an R4-series agromech droid that was present inside the Jedi Temple around 21 BBY. When Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu were trapped on the Endurance at Vanqor, R2-D2 rushed into the Temple to play their distress message, jostling the R4 unit as he sped past. It was seen with an unidentified blue R5 unit. It was later seen aboard CC-3636's transport during the Mission to Aleen and then on Adi Gallia's flagship during the Battle of Patitite Pattuna, and was able to escape the cruiser before it exploded. We even spotted this droid smashing into the wall of a home located in a village ravaged by Maul and Savage in the season finale for Season Four of the show."

Looks good to me.

I'm kinda giddy about it. First 1/72 TIE Interceptor looks cool. 1/144 Y-wing, that's awesome! Clone trooper with cool variants. I assume the battle droid w/stapp are model kits, however it could possibly be SH.FIGUARTS, but who knows. I can say one of the battle droids is a model kit, because of the distinctive black stand. I'm not big on prequel stuff, but I'd get a few of those droids. Evidently your not supposed to take pictures. Many Bothans died to bring us this information."

JDeck definitely has me hooked on those Bandai kits. I own the Snowspeeder and AT-ST and they are great!

JDeck reviews the Bandai Star Destroyer...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, May 13 2016
"I finished the Star Destroyer. It took me 10 minutes or so. Real simple build, no trick parts, everything fits. There are a few very small gaps, which is no big deal. The length is about 4" width is 1.5". Its a really neat kit. Just like all Bandai Star Wars It didn't disappoint. These small kits, named the concept series, so far are very good, same detail as the big kits just smaller and cheaper. According to the box the paint recommendation is 75% white 25% gull grey."

It sure does look great and around $6 US Dollars you won't break the bank!

Here is an eBay Link for those of you wanting to get it the same way JDeck did.

Star Wars stormtroopers Whip and Nae Nae on Britain's Got Talent...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, May 12 2016
"The Force was strong with Boogie Storm on Britain’s Got Talent Saturday night, when the stormtrooper dance troupe marched onto the talent competition show’s stage with a scene-stealing routine — one that earned them the coveted Golden Buzzer from the Dark Lord himself, Simon Cowell."

I have to admit it was pretty cool. That is a side of Stormtroopers I didn't think I would ever see.

Thanks to Sjefke for making me aware of it!

Blizzard Force is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 11 2016
"Lately things have been real hectic here (family, work etc.) lately, so I didn't get to do much new figure customising. I'm currently focusing on completing my own collection of TFA vintage-style figures...and even though those are only 5POAs, I really like the results so far. Here's a pic I took last weekend of my current TFA display at home:

On Monday I finished three more figures:

Want to complete the first 30 now, also working on my fourth wave of designs at the moment (figure #31 - #40)."

It really is a beautiful thing to behold. What a hit Hasbro would have on their hands if they did up the new TFA Figures on vintage style cardbacks. I would buy them even at 5 POA!

Mandalore 25 is back with an EU Update...

"Made Maw the Dark Jedi from Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. Used a Marvel Universe Hulk as the base, ripped the legs off, sculpt the repulsorlift lower half, and sculpt the head. Cut up a robot, and put the pieces on the repulsorlift to make it look more electronic, the game wasn't too detailed, so made some things up there. Used some jewelry wire for all the wires coming out of him. Gave him a fancy stand so he can float around in a variety of ways.

If anyone is interested, he's listed here."

He looks pretty awesome to me!

UPDATE: Mandalore 25 sent me a link to the cool display stand he used for this:

A Mythos Project from Ron Hembling!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 11 2016
"Hi All,

I have put the Falcon on the go slow table as I need to complete a few diorama's/figures before a show that is just under six weeks away.

I started to a 1/12 mythos Vader which is from Bandai and I cut the cape out of black material it's not the greatest cut but seeing that I needed to damage the cape with cuts and tears it suited the figure.

I used thin wire to make the edges of the cape fold better, I still need to fill in joints and add more damage to Vader and the cape and robe and then paint and weather him and make the base.

Ron"

Daggone that turned out nice!

Custom Creator updates us on his blown out building project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 11 2016
"Started throwing around some cracks tonight. Didn't want to overdo it, and some I need to fix up a bit, but I am liking it. Decided to rip out the middle window altogether so that I can have characters crawling/peeking in through the big hole. Also started the second floor.....floor...lol. I was going to go with 10 foot (inch) beams, but quickly decided that it would be too much wood to purchase as they come in 36 inch long pieces (meaning 3 boards per 36 inch piece). I then decided to start messing around with all sizes to simulate broken/missing flooring, and found this look much more appealing!"

This just looks ultra realistic to me!

JDeck gets to work on his Crane AT-TE!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 11 2016
"I started working on the magnetic crane mechanism. Now that I have the crane I'll be able to figure out how to mount it to the back of the AT-TE, and make my modifications. I think it looks pretty neat . Its fully functional with elevation, traverse and the magnetic grapple can be lowered. Once the rubber tubes start to stretch the grapple will hang better. I'll add a few more details later, for now I have what I need."

This is gonna be so cool when finished. I think we can all see the Rebels repurposing this into the affair JDeck is envisioning.

It's good to be back.

Anyways, here's a new Darth Malgus I made. He's going to a part of a SWTOR line I'm working on.

I sculpted everything except for the shoulders, chestpiece, belt, and knees. The head was purchased from I-am-Boba-Fett.

Sculpted on a microman body, I cannot recommend them enough for other customizers. The articulation is phenomenal, and the frame is small enough that you can almost sculpt from a blank slate."

It was great to see him back and wow the eyes are so piercing!

Jon K is back with a new KOTOR Custom...

I carved into the body to leave the top, and built the dart attachment to the arm out of greenstuff, finished off with an ebay cast head of Jubilee. I've been tinkering with this one for a while, and I'm pretty happy with the end result."

JDeck shows how to get some greeblies!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, May 8 2016
"Believe it or not I was starting to run low on greebles. I bought a Tamiya 1/35 88mm gun FLaK 36/37 from amazon. If your new to kitbashing or scratch building this is the kit to get. I bought the Afrika Korps version 3 years ago, I've used at least one part from the kit on all my star wars scratch building projects. Matter of fact I used the barrel for the 1/18 moisture vaporator I built when I first joined the 'yards. The kit has at least 200 parts, ranging from fairly big to very tiny. This kits a bit different from the afrika version, it comes with the carriage, which is cool, a lot of neat parts. i know ill use a lot of these parts on my Rebel AT-TE project."

I always appreciate JDeck taking the time to share his resources. Such cool things he shows us all someitmes. Thanks JDeck! Click here to go check one out.

Young Han Solo has been cast!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, May 6 2016
"Disney and LucasFilm have found their new Han Solo.

“Hail, Caesar!” thesp Alden Ehrenreich has been tapped to star in the “Star Wars”-universe standalone movie revolving around Han Solo, sources tell Variety. Deadline Hollywood first reported that Ehrenreich was the frontrunner to land the role, and sources have now confirmed that he’s set to play the rebel smuggler, originally portrayed by Harrison Ford.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing with Kathleen Kennedy producing.

No plot details have been revealed, other than that the film will be set prior to “Star Wars: A New Hope,” like the other standalone pic “Rogue One.” Production is not expected to begin until January. Sources told Variety earlier this year that the reason for the January start may be so that the character may cameo in “Rogue One,” giving the production time to shoot the scene that introduces the new Han Solo.

The film will bow on May 25, 2018. The latest movie in the blockbuster franchise, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” opened in December.

While “Hail, Caesar!” was underwhelming at the box office, Ehrenreich was applauded by critics for his breakout performance. He is repped by CAA."

Cool deal!

Darth Daddy gives us a May the 4th Update!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, May 5 2016
"May the 4th be with you! To celebrate today's festivities, we figured we'd release a project that was inspired by the first scenes that we were introduced to the crew of the Ghost on "Star Wars Rebels: Spark of the Rebellion". We knew it was a project we needed to do once Ezra's Speeder Bike was released.

Imperial Combat Drivers or AT-DP Pilots were a special brand of Imperial pilots, that operated exclusively with the All Terrain Defense Pod walkers and several other Imperial vehicles such 614-AvA Speeder Bikes and Imperial Troop Transports. When driving ITTs, they were outfitted with darker-colored suits.

AT-DP Pilots were well trained, and were equipped with heavy armor. An 614-AvA Speeder Bike (also known as an Imperial Speeder Bike) were a series of speeder bikes used by the Galactic Empire. Manufactured by Aratech Repulsor Company, these speeder bikes were armed with twin laser cannons located at the front and work alongside All Terrain Defense Pod walkers and TIE Fighters to form a high-speed strike force, cutting down escaping rebels.

Speeder Bikes were ideal for long-distance scouting missions and patrolling large areas with minimal use of fuel or personnel. More nimble than Troop Transports, they allowed Stormtroopers to survey difficult terrain or chase after fleeing suspects. It could also tow up to two crates.

To complete this project, we just needed to do a repaint the armor of the AT-DP Pilot to match the colors of the Imperial Combat Drivers on Speeder Bikes, and to repaint Ezra's Speeder Bike white. Elias painted the Speeder Bike and Darth Daddy repainted the Imperial Combat Driver. It took about half a day of work, and we love the results."

I like em all!

Ron Hembling is back with more Falcon Work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, May 5 2016
"Hi All,

Did a little more work on the Falcon and this time I did the slopping top hull sections. I have been using the FRAGILE tape to also go along the joints and it also good to use as it's very strong so when I start super gluing all the hull sections it won't melt.

I will need to get more foam board over the weekend so I can do the bottom section and then onto the cockpit. I have plastic card but not enough so I have ordered more so when that come in I can start doing the detailing.

Ron"

It is really taking shape now!

Clone Troopr is back with a great Ren...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 4 2016
"Obviously, others have done this head-swap before, but I couldn't get my hands on the 5POA figure that came with this head. A seller on eBay is selling high-quality, unpainted recasts of these heads for a fair price, so I bought one, and painted the eyes, brows, and hair. Enjoy, and May the Fourth Be With You! :)"

It sure looks great to me. Some of his images are just fantastic too! Great action shots.

Mr. Jedi 1977 shows us his second batch of customs for 2016!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 4 2016
"Happy May the 4th everyone ! Another quick batch of random back round figures. Starting with the Ishi Tibs (now articulated and with soft goods) that were in the rebel briefing room in ROTJ . One of the imperial Dignitaries that was hardly visible but can be seen and a alternate version of the cloud car pilot using the head from the Otc version pilot and painted the shoulders to match. More stuff on the way soon."

His Ishi Tibs in all their color variations are fantastic. Such cool characters. Heck all are great, make sure you let him know what you think!

JDeck builds up his fleet...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 4 2016
"I did some painting on the MC-80s the winged version came out like I wanted. Mon cal ships sort of look like a combination Blue Whale, Shark and conch shell, so I used them as inspiration. The non winged one, I would have liked to have better color variations, but at this scale its almost impossible without it looking wacky. I'll work on the display, meybe tomorrow. I've been a little side tracked lately. After this I've got an idea for my next project, I've been trying to simplify the design, but still be cool. Anyway, you'll see what I mean."

One project giving rise to another, you gotta love it!

StarFall is back with a new custom character...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, May 4 2016
"Our final cast member, Metra Freyy, or as we call her around the studio, "Worm Girl" a nickname we assure you she will live up to in later chapters of the comic. Metra is a mysterious and deadly assassin with the ability to turn any object into a weapon. Obsessively goal oriented, she kills without regard to the lives she is taking. Her origins are mostly unknown, but it's rumored that she may not even be an organic lifeform at all, some say she's a robot while others believe she may be an angry spirit in possession of the body of a legendary warrior..."

Wow, now that sounds mysterious! I like the look of her too. She wields one large blade!

Rezakia rocks a TFA Scene for out latest challenge!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 3 2016
"So I decided to keep this here and one other site it's and old vintage Daigobah playset I had some trunk looking pencils and some Takodana backdrops with some crafters paint/moss.

I liked the front on image for the lighting effect but I wasn't happy with it, also the angle wasn't accurate with the scene from TFA.

I turned the camera around and I liked it better

Added some darker effects to it to get a closer look to the film... not exactly the pose since Rey is squatting in the scene and the Blackseries figure can't exactly get into a pose like that. But after an afternoon of backdrops on cardstock falling over I decided to leave it be.

Anyways I really wish Rey could get into a squat like the scene but I can forgive it since the Black series is a pretty decent figure overall.

Rez"

I think it turned out great. Remember today is the last day to submit your own TFA Entry!

Custom Creator starts on the second floor...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 3 2016
"I started on the second floor. I decided to make the whole floor part attachable by magnets to the beams. So basically the big floor beams, and wall beams will all be one piece, and the support beams will attach via magnet. At last that's the plan so far..lol. Some adjustments required. Took a couple Punisher shots as well."

It is really coming along now.

Mandalore25 is back with a Marvel Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, May 3 2016
"Trying to get into 6 inch figures more with this Marvel Legends Amora the Enchantress. Mostly a repaint of a Scarlet Witch, made the skirt, and sculpt the belt. I did use VHT Vinyl Dye on her lower half, and it's really cool stuff, feels like the figure was always black, definitely the best spray I've used on a figure.

If anyone is interested, she's listed here."

She looks pretty spot on to me!

JDeck reviews the new Bandai Kylo Ren...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Pretty rad, check out the details even on the back of his helmet. Awesome stuff. They show a side by side with the SH.FIGUARTS Kylo, the kit isn't as good, but for the price not bad. The only thing that gets me are the elbows, they disappear when bent. However it allows for better range of motion, articulation is useless without range of motion. The details are nice and crisp. With a little black wash and chrome paint, the mask would really pop. I don't like that mask decal. Cool kit though. Suggested retail including 8% tax, 3,240 Japanese Yen, or $30.46 USD"

It looks pretty fantastic to me.

We welcome Cantina Customs to the boards...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"I just wanted to post a figure I've recently customized. There are far too few female figures made! The story behind this custom is that she was a padawan fighting by her master's side when order 66 was issued. Her master was killed, and she fled in terror. She later returned to collect some clone armor from the battlefield and later became a bounty hunter."

Join me in welcoming a new member! I like the look of this female custom too!

Stan is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Finally had little time to work on some new custom. Next up is M'yroon Onith, had to give her a soft good skirt, and fix those elbow swivel and replace them with ball joints. She finally take seat with rest of Cantina figures. Now. I think I have cover all Cantina figures except for Hammerhead; figure cross thT he coming in the black series next year. Next up is a pair of droids in Tatoonie. Thank you every one for compliments."

With awesome work like his Onith, he better get ready for more compliments!

Jon K is back!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Been kind of held up by the big move lately, but one I finished just before I left in the KOTOR line: Bao Dur. First time using a GI Joe Base, I thought it worked well because he always struck me as a taller character. Tunnel Rat body and legs, Darth Maul head (I had a hell of a time finding a ball-joint Maul head and ended up drilling out a swivel head instead, it actually worked out better than expected). The energy arm was made from a bunch of clippings of an emperor lightning-effect hand glued directly into a random cup-shaped piece of plastic that I drilled out into a proper joint. Genuinely had a hard time with adhesive because I was mixing light-colored soft rubber with hard plastic darker pieces for dynamic effect, but I like how it turned out in the end."

I like how it turned out too!

Ron Hembling shares his 6" Dengar!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Hi All,

Dengar is done and here are a few pics until I get my usual outdoor ones tomorrow.

The turbin was done using left over material and the figure was weathered using Vallejo, paints and chalk pastels.

The base was one I built a while ago for the I.M.P.S trooper I did but decided against it and I'm glad I did as it is perfect for the Dengar figure.

Ron"

Wow, he looks great!

A new episode is up for Darth Daddy!

Blizzard Force shows us a new one!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"...it's been a while. Sorry for the radio silence, but I've had a small operation in a hospital mid-April and even though it was all planned in advance it still took more time to recover from that than I'd thought before...

Anyway, here's my next addition...couldn't really leave that Luke Stormtrooper all by himself..."

I like the look of custom figures on custom vintage cards! FTW!

StarFall is back with a new addition...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"I've managed to crank out the remaining 2 main cast members of the Star-Fall comic as well. So without further ado...

Meet Payjiiana "Payj" Vadovaysiian. Payj was genetically engineered by her father, a famous warrior, to be the perfect squire to accompany him into battle and help carry his weapons and gear. She's also a gifted inventor, engineer, and tech-wiz. A few chapters down the road we'll see her run into Rrrouthaan and J'Vaadus and become one of the main heroes of the story."

She looks great to me. The apparatus on her back is just fantastical!

Clone Troopr is back with an TOR Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Nadia's one of the characters in the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game that introduced us to a new species called Sarkhai. Sarkhai had a tradition of face-painting to scare off predators.

The hair was "hard-sculpted" like my Satele and Kira figures. Robe is soft-goods, and the belt is sheet metal. The saber was made from the plastic missiles that came with the Zeb/Chopper 2-pack, and another missile for the hilt."

She looks tough to me!

Starchasers shares two new customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"One more today. I saw this Wilykit figure on clearance and bought it thinking I could make a Padawan out of her. I finally got around to it."

I think she looks great! We so need more Padawans in our Jedi Ranks!

Mandalore25 shows us a new Jedi...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, May 2 2016
"Was going through my list of characters I'd like to make at some point, and found Keelyvine Reus from The Clone Wars web comics. Pretty tough dual wielding jedi general, really love the character, thinking to make her clone commander Ganch sometime as well. When I saw her in the list I realized I had all the parts for her, and had to put her together. She's mainly a vintage collection Barriss Offee, with a clone wars Padme, and Marvel Universe Valkyrie arms. I sculpt the bun, and made the soft goods with a little extra on the edges so they can liquid stitched down for no fraying. To get the flow as it currently has I ran warm water over the lower half for ten minutes, and it worked very well."

You can even add her to your collection if you are so inclined!
