Topic: Next Contest Idea

alright lets get some ideas running about!

we can do a poll to determine what are next contest will be. we can shuffle ideas and put them in a long list and then cross them off  if we don't like them. i'll submit a few ideas

space taxis
jaster mereel era mandos
farmers on tattooine
normal pedestrian
jedi from geonosis " can be movie jedi "
death star builders
holonet news cast
deathtroopers i.e crawlers,no heads, one arm, etc,
old republic sith
imperial in grey uniform
coruscant guard in ep3 armour

I'd like to see more specific contests... some of these are very specific. 

Broad contests are great but specific ideas push people to go at the same project from different angles... and they can be judged more fairly.  Since the contests would be more specific, the judging would be more specific as well...

of course, the broad scoped contests we've been having lately usually bring in more entries as more people are able to contribute...

perhaps we should have a few "just for fun" contests...

or even some "VS" contests where several people all sign up for matches, then we battle it out in very specific challenges until one customer is crowned the champion, no prizes except the title? 

in fact... I realy like that idea.  Having some kind of competition lined up where we have people enter their names into a "pot".   Out of that pot they are lined up, bracket style, against a random component.  They are given a month to complete a SPECIFIC custom character or idea and the winner of that match-up moves on to the next bracket.  This continues for however long it takes until there are only 2 or 3 customizers left and they duke it out over an epic finale custom project.... 
In this senario I think a panel of impartial judges (at least 3) should be named for the entire run so that it doesn't turn into a popularity contest making it unfair to any match-ups...

A SW Mech Suit Contest is a great idea!!! So is the Jedi from Geonosis, and I really like Spudafett's Battle Scenario...that could be so much fun

How about a dio contest where the theme is The Planets of SW or we pick a certain planet, but I think if you leave it open we could see some really cool dios

Oh I would love to see a Diorama themed contest too. Great idea Jenn about the planets. Wouldn't it be cool to do some type of raffle where folks got a planet at random? Just thinking out loud. Still, if I didn't get Illum or Hoth I would be bummed.

Great ideas here though. Still love the thought of a SW Mech Contest or Mech period contest.

I would love to see a mech suit type theme.  The only problem with that is not everyone has the fodder to get involved. I also love Jenn's idea of pick a planet and include at least 1 custom figure. It leaves many options open and ones that want it to be elaborate can take it as far as they want. The lottery idea sounds fun to me but some may not like it if they draw a CW specific planet and they do OT stuff and vise versa. Not sure about Jedi from Geonosis, Target released many of them...hmmm i think it needs to be a broader theme for max participation. What does everyone else think about these 3 themes?

I agree with you on the Mech Suit idea L.E., I didn't even think that it maybe hard to find the parts needed and not everyone may have this type of fodder!

I've had this idea for awhile, but didn't bring it up because it was too broad...what about a Cultures of SW Theme? You could pick a specific culture from the series such as wookie, jedi, sith, mando, etc. and make a custom based on that. It could be an original character or one we already know.

I'd love the see a Children of Star Wars contest.  I was going to sponsor it over at the blog, but was just waiting to come up with a prize.  I hate that the Clone Wars is supposed to be a kids toy line but they don't produce any of the really cool children of the Clone Wars as action figures like Jaybo Hood & Numa.
