Clonehead's custom figures #2
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:21:40 AM »
Hey folks. I am currently in the process of thinning out my other custom figures thread as it seems that the really long threads that are over 50 pages in length are causing server problems.
  Clonehead's Custom figure thread #1

This is to be my new custom figures thread and although I have several started projects that are on the shelf right now, I felt that I needed to start a new custom to try to warm up a bit. It has been several months since I worked on any custom so please bear with me.

Since I can now cast a hollow republic commando helmet, I thought it would be cool to do a removable helmet RC. Starting with this Scorch body, I used a dremel to cut off the head peg. I will choose a resin head and neck to make a posable head for this guy and paint em up. I will find some accessories to add and might alter his backpack as we continue.

As I said to Jay, it is a phenomonal achievement when you open up a second figures thread for having so many customs!  Great work, my friend, and I hope that you will achieve great things in here!

Tell me about it, LE. It has been far too long since I got to play.
Thanks for your comments, guys. I have made some more progress and pics are coming.
I made a little video showing my progress and intend to show more installments as this figure comes along.
here is the video. Seems like I stuttered once or twice. I need to get used to shooting these things.

Looking pretty Cool Clint. I was the 3rd person to watch the video, or at least it said you had 2 views before me.
I might have to pick some of these RC helmets and heads up in the coming months.

Thanks. Here are a few more shots.
I chose the rots cody neck nub and trimmed down the bottom a bit and tacked it to  the RC body. "i will have to figure out a pin or something to make this connection more ridged" I like the close nit head cover that the tac stormtrooper head has so I chose that resin part and widened and thickened the neck peg with superglue to make it fit snug with the head. This head seems to be in proper proportion to the RC armor and the new hollow cast helmet that I now make fits over this head with plenty of room and sits at an attractive height.
I have selected some resin parts to serve as additions when the time comes and plan on replacing the scorch leg ammo piece with this medium sized ROC Joe pouch. I will incorporate the ammo pouch from the sandtrooper pauldron somewhere, possibly clipped onto some kind of waist-worn belt. I was also considering mounting a mando rangefinder so that it swivels up and down as I have done in the past.

I haven't totally decided on a color scheme for the armor yet but really like that green and white rc that Stitch fett did. I was thinking something more conventional like that. At this point, I will probably concentrate and getting the neck and head painted up and then go from there.

WOW! Nice job Clint!
As do I. It is our lot in life, Master. Shall we find something to kill to cheer us up?
