Astroview part 3 - R3-T2
« on: September 11, 2013, 12:59:49 PM »
Info

Model:  R3 Astromech Droid
Main selling feature: Milatary uses
Comments: Another obscure Astromech that sadly got edited out of the ANH remaster
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lets start of with this guy !

Coloration

The first thing you'll notice about the color scheme of this R3 droid is the fact it's dome is opaque as apposed too transclucent , appearantly this has to do with the fact this r3 unit got in the hands of space pirates ( yes really) and they somehow found an opaque dome more appropriate

Well this droid is pretty bland actually it's mostly white with silver robot bits , some blue panels on his 'chest' and legs , his most striking paint application is a thick copper colored ring on his dome which makes him look kind off like one of those stereotypical munks ,

Furthermore his eye is black and his 'paw wires' are also copper colored

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Articulation

Pretty basic but... ah hell ! He's an astromech so

* 360' Hip rotation
* 360 Head rotation ( It clicks)
* Swivel ankles and ( On all 3 legs)
* Retrectable 3rd leg

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Features

As this droid is based upon R4-G9 his 'action feature' is the fact that when you turn his dome clockwise his 3rd leg ( i know) descends so he can be displayed in his 'trike mode' , turning his head counter-clockwise ofcourse reverses the action mentioned before.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pro's
* Rare so tone might gloat about it's rarity
* There is no 2nd pro but there doesn't need to be one because the first one was so awesome!
* Due to the fact his dome is opaque this is ( excluding the build a droid series r3's) the only r3 unit that is not based on an ancient casting or a clone wars mold ( which is horrifying )

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cons'

* Rare .. well its expensive loose and its even more expensive in the packs
*An r3 unit without a transclusent dome.....booo

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Verdict

Well....this droid is like that odd friend everybody has , that 'forever in the background' kind off guy... , nobody really cares about him

As an Astromech addict i like it , ultra collectors probably like it
Regular collectors Probably don't
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall score

Regular collectors ( 2/10)
Astro whores ( 8/10)

Cheers and thanks for reading

Pics are coming tomorrow
