Ron Hembling shares a new diorama...

"Hi All,

The Last Phantom 1:12 scale.

Back story - this version of the Phantom is based of a comic book series and the first pic is what got me inpsired to make this figure. The story behind this version is Kit Walker is the 21st Phantom and decides to hang up the outfit and start a charity organization and spend time with his wife and son and they are murdered and so the 21st Phantom takes up the mantle to avenge his family.

Recipe.

Phantom - The figure is from VToys and I made the belt/holsters from pleather and the buckle is a resin mould copy from NECA's Phantom. The boots are from a Marvel Mr Fantastic figure and the pistols were printed in resin by a friend of mine and I used Games workshops Mechrite Red to cover the figure.

Base - is from a craft store and the tree's are dead branches which were soaked in methylated spirits to stop the rotting and the rock is real as well. The ground work was done using watered down spakfilla and sand and then applying it and while still wet I covered it with dried garden mulch. Once dry I then painted the ground with Vallejo's Chocolate brown and then applied a mix of mulched up sticks and leaves .

The vines I picked up of ebay and the leafy plants are from the pet shop and the shrubs are grass tufts with fine leaf foliage applied to the tops of then.

Chapter II: The Words
...and bunch of photos also

Composition: TVC Zorii Bliss torso, pelvis & thighs, TBS Ahsoka Tano arms, shins & feet, resin head, hands, armor plates & lightsabers, some epoxy clay sculpts, leather skirt, wired cloak, magnets.

Process: I began this figure last May and was working on her concurrently with Beskar Mando and Bo-Katan. Where those two figures were completed in quick succession, this one stalled a few times for various reasons. Here is a breakdown of how she came to be."

Folks I am just still at a loss for words to describe how great this is. You can also find out if this is a 3.75" or a 6" custom when you click through.

"Hi All,

The Ghost who walks 7"

Recipe.

The Phantom - is from Neca and I repainted him using Vallejo Paints and Game Workshop paints, the holsters were made using pleather and the pistols are resin prints.

Base - is made using foam board and the chair is made using high density foam and the skulls are resin prints and then the chair/skulls were covered using spakfilla and then painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.

The fire pits were made using resin skulls and cardboard for the dishes and the skulls were also covered is spakfilla and then they were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints. The flames were done using Woodland Scenics Water Effects and once dry I peeled them off the non stick paper and then painted them on the flat side to give them a fire look to them and I added LED's which come up thru the base and between the skulls and the coal is kitty litter which was painted black and then weathered using pastel chalks.

"I cut the signs I want out and glue them to the diorama using PVA glue. I was going to make a pallet and a barrel to go with this piece but I feel that this would just crowd this piece. Therefore I believe this piece is now finished, my final pictures are to follow."

Wait till you see how he made his signs for this. I always like seeing the process. This one turned out great!

"Sometimes I need to watch something for kids (its an antidote to cynicism), and I get tired of "angsty" stuff - life has enough angst already. So I watched some of the LEGO "Adventures of the Freemakers." There was this reference to an Ugnaught bounty hunter (using a Boushh helmet), and I thought, that's not a bad idea. I had a Weazel body sitting around and presto:

Rowan Freemaker pretended to be "Grunt Boar" the fiercest Ugnaught in the Galaxy. What if that wasn't entirely random? What if a successful Ugnaught bounty hunter made "the Wheel" his home when not off on missions? What if Rowan Freemaker had this information rolling around in his subconscious? Well...the answer is Gruuner Boa, a bounty hunter of some repute who hails from the Ugnaught tribe that makes its home in the lower reaches of the "the Wheel." (I think the recipe on this one is transparent.)"

"I finished painting today, using concrete grey airbrush paint on the docking ramp and a layer on the floor. Using a brown wash to add a couple of tyre tracks leading out of the dock door and weathered the docking ramp and steps. I dry brushed a light grey over the cracks on the ground and docking ramp. The drain pipe was painted gunmetal grey before been given a dark wash and then glued into place. The air conditioning unit was painted white, given a brown wash before being glued to the wall."

Sounds like he is thinking about adding a few other things and calling this complete!

"Today started with airbrushing the bottom of the walls with a light concrete airbrush paint, followed by airbrushing gunmetal grey on the two doors. When they were dry, I shaded the recesses of the walls and above the doors and dry brushed a light grey over them.

Using my airbrush I added a black wash followed by a brown wash over the doors and then a brown wash over the bottom of the walls.

I have added switches for the doors, built an air-conditioning unit, and painted a drainpipe. I also need to finish the floor and the concrete loading area."

Dude is just getting it done with this dio!

"Before repainting the bottom of the walls I mixed up a darker brown and sponged it over the brickwork. I used a black wash on the concrete area above the dock doors and cracks on the floor and concrete ramp."

It is really looking nice.

"After applying a black undercoat, I've sponged on a basecoat of burnt sienna and umber with a touch of white to the brickwork and an even lighter version to the base of both walls. The concrete areas were painted grey, also using a sponge and the area above both docks doors.

Once it's dry I can start adding the next coats and layering."

This one is definitely looking good coming down the home stretches.

"First, I wanted to share this custom on my main thread of custom figures, but since this figure was missing a couple parts, I thought I show you how I replaced them here.
As you might already know, Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Episode of the Prequel Trilogy.

So here's my take on the Neimoidian Commander and you'll see throughout the following pictures that I also added some details of my own. During the process I thought of adding a second metal color to go with the brass dry-brush."

"I've tidied up the edges, added magnetic disks to hold this piece together, added a couple of steps to the loading platform. All that is left is to weather the bricks and floor before I can apply an undercoat."

I just wrote up my initial (fairly spoiler free) take on the first episode of this new series. I must say it is so awesome to get new Star Wars period. I think David Filoni and company have a great new series on their hands. I would love to hear your thoughts on this new series too.

"I've spent time today finishing marking out the brickwork in pencil and then using a fine head pottery tool to score into the foam. I cut in a smaller dock door and replaced the foam with the corrugated card, then gluing the three pieces together which will be glued to the wall at a later time. Like the previous warehouse diorama, I made an L-shaped dock ramp going around the small building using three pieces of 20mm foamboard, which are glued together using PVA glue.

The next steps are to make the steps to the ramp and weathering the bricks."

His project is definitely coming along nicely!

"I forgot I made this. I was watching a guy on YouTube DR TOYS. and he made a droid similar to this but in 6" using a harry Potter figure. So I copied him using a Rose Tico and one of those old star tours droids.

Her name is R-0S1 or "Rosie". She was a riveter droid in the vulture droid factory during the clone wars. Now she is a swoop bike mechanic."

Looks like a pretty cool custom droid to me.

"Hi All,

Damaged Darth Vader roughly 1:18 scale.

This figure is a SW Legion custom miniature which shows the scale it was enlarged to next to a SW Legion Sandtrooper and Vader is made by SkullforgeStudios https://gumroad.com/skullforgestudios and I asked GarfiesGames https://www.ebay.com.au/str/garfiesgames who distribute the figures here in Australia to size him up to around 4" which roughly is 1:18 scale.

I painted and weathered him using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks and the base is from Mattel Jurassic Park Amber collection and was also painted and weathered.
