"Today’s work started with gluing all the external pieces together, sanding them down before attaching each section of the walls together. After each wall had all their parts stuck and formed, I turned my attention to the door of the bunker.
Using a piece of 5mm foam board I cut a cross section and then glued that onto another piece of 5mm board, surrounded it with a boarder. The using 2 pieces of 10mm board to create a runner for door, this was glued to the length of the back of the front wall. The door can slide the full length of the wall.
Before finishing off the main wall, I turned my attention engraving the insides of the side walls. Drawing inspiration from the 80’s G.I. Joe cartoon and the interiors used for Cobra’s hideouts/bases/lairs, using this type of style to carve in paneling into each wall along with an 80’s style tape recorder."
Sure does remind me of my 80s Cartoon Days. Man, waking up on a Saturday Morning with a good bowl of cereal and just cartooning all morning long!

"I'm calling this post Rogue One Customs. These are all more like repaints or updates to paint jobs than all-out customs, but I think they add some needed detail and character to some of the heroes from Rogue One that Hasbro gave to us in 5POA. I used Citadel paints on all the figures; some of them I painted details or put a lot of work into, some just got a wash to make them a little less squeaky-clean. Take a look!"
Oh yeah, they sure look better to me! Just goes to show you that even the 5 POA Figs I am not so keen on can look pretty good with the right paint apps.

"Hi All,
Fallout Lone Wanderer 1:10 scale
Recipe
Figure - is from Funko and I glued the joints and filled them in and then repainted and weathered him using Vallejo/Army Painter paints and pastel chalks.
I gave him a laser rifle from the power armour figure and teh pipboy's screen was just plain green so I added a few dots and line to resemble the maps locations and roads.
Base - is high density foam and once the size was cut out I then ripped the edges apart using my figures. The wooden billboard is made from balsa wood and the sign I got from teh net and printed it off and glued it onto the billboard.
Once the billboard was done I then applied a 70/30 mix of sand and spakfilla and applied it to the base and while it was drying I pushed the billboard into place.
The ground was then painted and weathered and the dying green plants are weeds from the garden which I preserved with mythelated spirits and then applied to the base. The dead small brances I also got from the garden and they large roots I pulled up from a plant that was growing.
The other dead shrubs are from JOEFIX Studios and the dying grass tufts are from Army Painter which were dark green and I used Vallejo Beige Brown on them to give then a dying/dead look.

"Hey all, I finally got around to adding a few more shelves to this display. Once again, I looked for background photos in the highest resolutions I could find before printing them out and gluing them to cardboard to add some setting to these little displays. Some of the figures are new, and I've accrued them over the last couple months - I'm particularly proud with the 501st display, as I just love those troopers! I always have but never owned any until recently. Take a look below some of the scenes I've tried to recreate.
This is the very top shelf of the shelving unit, and I've been planning making a mini-diorama of this scene ever since the 5POA Obi-Wan came out in TLJ line. The blast door and background panels are all from Frank Diorio's Diorama Workshop, and I really like the way they bring this scene to life. I found some scrap vinyl lying around my basement that I cut to fit the shelf for some simple black flooring."
I really like his Blast Door Diorama. So awesome to see figures displayed in a scene. I so have got to do some of this with my own stuff sometime.

It was awesome to see this box show up on the front doorstep. And just in time for Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story. I must say these Muggs are growing on me. Being able to change their faces to three setting is just awesome. I have to admit the Iron Man is the favorite one out of this box!

"After such a busy week with work, I was able to get back to my commission piece. For both side walls, I’ve cut in 11 grills at half an inch thick. Once I cut through the foam, I then scored around each rectangle with a thicker blade, pressed in the top length of each rectangle, punching them in at angle.
Cut out two frames to go around each side wall. Both pieces were fitted into the front wall.
The roof was cut along with two foam circles before being fitted together and sculpted into shape."

"Wow! It's been 7 years since I posted this artwork http://www.imperialshipyards.net/SMF/index.php?topic=6503.0 that turned into the mock comic covers "Dark Lords of the Sith". If you haven't seen this read up on this guy. The whole series is based in old horror, utilizing some of the greats like Bella Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Vincent Price as Dark Lords.
Well, it's about time I made one of these guys in plastic so of coarse what would I pick but the most difficult one. ;D This is a WIP. I'm close to being done... yet so far away. This is the Bella Lugosi tribute, Darth Vereor and his pet Nexu Blasko'... in 1:12th scale. It's been an adventure, but so far I'm pleased with the results. I'll just post a few photos and explain."

"Two easy potf2 customs, a generic mandalorian and a special forces stormtrooper. The mando is just a repaint of boba fett, and the stormtrooper is made with the arms, hips and legs of luke in stormtrooper disquise with a modified tie pilot helmet and body."

"Hi All,
Luke's X-34 landspeeder 1:12 scale.
Recipe
Luke/Kenobi/Speeder - are all from Hasbro BS 6" series. Luke has had his face/hands and partial chest repainted, Kenobi has had his head/hands and top half of his robes repainted using Vallejo Paints.
Kenobi's plastic lower robe was removed and then both the figures legs were tied together so that they could fit into the cockpit better. The speeder has been completed repainted using Vallejo Paints and weathering was done using pastel chalks.
Base - is a picture frame with the glass removed and teh back board glued in place and foam board was added to both sides for added strength. The speeder's stand was glued onto the base and then a 60/40 mix of sand/spakfilla was applied to the base and once dry was painted using Vallejo's Iraqui Sand.

"I'm currently working on a backdrop for my Hoth diorama. It's always bugged me having just the pegboard behind the thing, so I'm doing a sort of dual layered effect with this. This is just what I managed tonight. I still want to go over and clean some stuff up and make it look more natural, but for 2 hour's work, this isn't bad."
Now that is some awesome work for a first time!

"Hi All,
Solo was completed today and this will be the last one for the night.
Solo Death Star Escape 1:12 scale.
Recipe
Solo - is from Hasbro's BS 6" series and I glued the joints except the waist so that he can be turned to give him a bit of variety. Once the joints were glued they were filled in using putty and he was completely repainted using Vallejo paints.
Base - is foam board with balsa wood edging and then painted using Vallejo's Matt black and Matt white and then clear contact book covering was applied over the top.
The last pic was a little fun using the DS display I built about two months ago.

A nice simple build completed today of BB-8 from Bandai.

BB-8 - is from Bandai and is built straight out of the box and was painted and weathered using Vallejo and Army Painter Paints and pastel chalks.
Base - is foam board with a balsa wood edging and the sand is a mix of 50/50 mix of spakfilla and sand and once applied to the base and dried it was painted with Vallejo Paints

The story on this figure starts as a challenge from an employee at a vintage toy store called BobaKhan (shout out to my friends at BobaKhan - they sell on ebay and Amazon, but have a store front in the city of Everett, Washington). I buy fodder (and figures) from them. One day I was in and they had this Chap Mei hunter with a lion vest. One of the guys challenged me to make a Star Wars appropriate figure using the lion vest. Didn't take long to figure this out."

"Hi All,
I don't have the space at the moment to make a larger version of Kenobi's house so I thought I would just make a small section with R2-D2 showing the message from Leia.
1:12 scale
Recipe
R2-D2 - is from Bandai and made straight out of the box and I painted and weathered him using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.
Table and Hologram - are from Hasbro's BS 6" line special edition set and I just repainted it using Vallejo paints.
Base - is foam board with spakfilla applied to it and then I used a lightly damp baby wipe and dabbed over the spakfilla to give it a nice texture. The rug is some old fake fur I had and I just cut it out to shape and painted it and glued it to the base."

"I have been commissioned to build a G.I. Joe diorama, four 600x600 tiles and a bunker, the four tiles will sand covered, arranged in any order and the bunker placed where ever he wants.
For this phase of the project I will be focusing on the bunker which is built using foam board. Using 5 mm foam board to create the frame around the tunnel leading into the bunker, behind each of them is two layers of 10 mm foam board.
For the front wall of the bunker I have carved in grills into either side of the wall, a two step porch roof added.
After looking at this I decided to add another layer of 5 mm board placed in between the tunnel and front wall, with holes cut out to display grills. This will also act as a frame for the front wall."
It already looks awesome!

"Hi All,
Mimban Stormtrooper 1:12 scale, from the Solo movie.
Recipe
Trooper - is from Hasbro and has his joints glued and covered using putty and was repained using Vallejo and Army Painter paints. I added the extra helmet armour above the brow using plastic card. The cape/hood is a dried out baby wipe which has been painted and then cut and glued in place.
The mud on the trooper was done by mixing brown pastel chalks/brown paint and Woodland Scenics Relaistic water and then I applied it the figure.
Base is a Bandai plastic figure base with balsa wood edging and the ground work is a mix of sand/dirt/paint and Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and once mix was applied to the base.
The dead tree trunk I got from the garden and the plants are from JOEFIX Studios and the small grass tufts are from Army Painter. The moss is Woodland Scenics Olive green bushes which I have pulled apart and mixed with Woodland Scenics Realistic water and then applied it to the base.
Once everything was dry I then went over the ground again with the Realistic water to give it a more muddy look.

"Custom Gus! Inspired by Robo from The Fwoosh on YouTube. That’s a Guardians of the Galaxy Ego head if you’re wondering. It pops on the Range Trooper’s neck nub without any modifications. Thinking he needs a long slug thrower instead of a blaster."
Looks pretty tough to me. I always like a removable helmet trooper.

"Hi All,
General Ursus 1:10 scale, Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
Recipe
Ursus - is from NECA and his joints have been glued and puttied over and then he was completely repainted with Vallejo Paints and a light weathering using pastel chalks.
Base - is high density foam and the tiled floor was marked out with a ruler and then the underneath of the floor was pulled apart using my fingers.
The columns were made using PVC plumbers pipes and then thin corrugated cardboard was glued and wrapped around them. The base of the column is a piece of balsa wood and the damaged ends of the columns were filled in using spakfilla.
The dirt is a mix of sand 80%, spakfilla 15% and PVA glue 5% and was then mixed all together and then applied to the base. The base was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.

"The Han Solo Adventures
I was doing some hard drive spring cleaning and found an old project... from when Solo was just a twinkle in Disney/Lucasfilm's eye.
I've been a fan of the Brian Daley Han Solo trilogy since I was kid, reading tattered paperbacks at the local library. I now own the original edition paperbacks (a lucky find at a used book store). There's something about the old-timey font and pulp cover art. They don't print 'em like they used to... to much branding and focus testing. Back in the late 70s/early 80s, licensed material could be weird.
In the spirit of corporate synergy, I reimagined the trilogy as a modern hardcover. Since Disney still has old Legends material in print, it doesn't seem that far-fetched to me. And with the new movie coming out, seems like a no-brainer. As far as I'm concerned, it's canon until proven otherwise. Let me know what you think! Everything was made in Photoshop and Illustrator."

Cooking is...nothing, but chemistry!
So after I received such great feedback on here, I couldn't wait much longer to try the boiling water technique in order to take action figures apart carefully and without breaking anything. The feedback was VERY helpful and worked right away after I also put some closer thoughts into it! And that's why I appreciate the community on here so much! Thank you all for your support and take a look at the results for yourself.
Well now those are some downright awesome comments about the Yards. And boy did he get some great results too. Remember if you have a question about customizing or anything action figure related the folks here will no doubt be glad to help out. I have seen this keep happening for years.

"Hi All,
Terminator 1:10 scale
Recipe
Terminators - are from NECA and I decided to have one with his lower body removed by just using a pair of model cutters. I added wire using old electrical cable and stripping the rubber off and gluing them in place. Both Terminators were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.
Base - is high density foam and I just cut to shape and ripped the edges off using my fingers. The cement blocks are high density foam and the steel rods are plastic rods, the broken water pipes are pieces of plastic tubes and the water is Woodland Scenics Realistic water with Vallejo chocolate brown mixed into it.
The pieces of sqaured metal frames are pieces of plastic fly squatter just cut up and then a mix of sand and spakfilla with brown paint was mixed and applied to the base.

"Hi All,
This is a commission for a mate and he wanted Fett having his weapons drawn hunting down an Imperial spy on Tatooine. Fett is being accompanied by a Sandtrooper to make sure there is no disintegration as the Empire wants to interigate him.

Base - is high density foam and the structure is built using foam board and plastic card. The pipes are plumpers PVC pipe connections and the rusted canisters are empty asthma bottles.
The sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand and then applied to the base and the painted with Vallejo's Iraqui Sand and the dio was painted and weathered using Vallejo, Army painter paints and pastel chalks.

Its is hard to believe the promotion is about to end. It seems like it was only last week were were reporting on this grand behemoth at Toy Fair and now we are here. It has sure been an interesting journey from a fan site perspective, seeing the behavior of the individual collector as it polarized the collecting community at large. I went from days it seemed like this would never happen to days, especially here at the end, where the momentum was hard to not get caught up in. I would love to hear your own journey on the road to the Khetanna.
