Comicon Exclusive Smiling Luke Skywalker x-wing pilot
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:13:23 PM »
Got this from Hasbro Toy Shop for $9.99 and much shipping cost.
Exclusive to this year's San Diego Comicon show, this fig is a repop of the Droid Factory Luke x-wing pilot with a different, very happy, face sculpt. Body is super arty but has an odd looking wide stance to the lower legs.
Paint apps on the removable helmet are nice. His belt appears to have a peg-hole for a saber hilt but the blade is not removable from his lightsaber. The included x-wing ladder is what I was after with this one and it does it's job nicely.
Twards the top, there are two clip looking shapes on the bottom side that hit no known mounting point on my Degobah x-wing but the ladder leans against the fighter to just the right height and angle at the ships canopy opening.
If you are going to make a hanger diorama or display and have a newer, larger x-wing fighter, this is the ladder for you.
I would love to see this one released as a saga legends fig although that silly grin bugs me.

Yeah that smile does leave a little to be desiered. That ladder rocks though.

I can't believe it doesn't hook in somewhere... :\ Does it tend to slide off if touched or if the table is bounced?

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

Not that I noticed. Like I said, it has a couple of molded on clasp shapes under that top platform. If you look at the anh picture on the card front, of shows luke on a smaller dark ladder in front of the big yellow ladder which must lead up to the astromech socket for service of the droid or something. I will have to take another look at it tonight.

This yellow ladder is usually depicted in movie stills as the one used to service the astromech droid.  I was thinking the TRU exclusive X-wing to be released came with both ladder types.  I think...

I tried moving it back there but the engine kept the ladder from getting too close. Droid service from the ladder is still possible.

Does the red 5 x-wing come with 1 or 2 ladders?

Well the pictures I've seen of Wedge's X-wing at SDCC show both the yellow and the brown ladder.  I'm hoping that means it'll be packaged with both.  (I'd insert a picture but I'm not smart enough to figure that out.)
