Imperial Special Forces WIP
« on: January 21, 2014, 04:39:30 AM »
Hi everybody, long time without posting anything but at last I make the time for some pictures of my latest WIP. I used the helmet form a Space trooper from the EU release, the weapons are from several sources and some bits are made with green putty like the pistol holster and pouches, the belt if from an stormtrooper.  He belongs to the 1st SpecOps regiment attached to 501st legion. Hope you enjoy, and I will keep posting other stuff I have been working on and the idea is to make at least a squad (10 figures).

He has that Republic Commando look to him. I like it. Time for the front page.

The space trooper head goes well with that body. Your pouches look good too.
Nice job so far.

Here is the continuation of this work. This a color test where I was aiming for a urban setting camouflage. The idea for the rest of the team is to follow the same color scheme for the armor but each helmet will be decorated in different ways to ID each member. Right now I'm  looking for a supplier in Mexico City for supplies to cast the helmets since I only have 2 and getting more could turn into an expensive proposition.

Once I get the color scheme I want I will finish retouching the areas made of green putty that are visible, also need to figure out how to mount the other weapons in the backpack

Best regards

And here are two other concepts that I'm working

Since the 501st Legion is an elite unit within the Stormtrooper corps I decided to create a standard trooper for the 501st, that is different  from the other units  in the legion.  I already have 6 almost completed but this one is the most advanced. I used green putty to add elbow pads, increase body armor and add a sidearm and a vibro knife. Still thinking what color scheme to use but initial idea is to go with a black and white scheme with officers using color stripes. I would love to hear your comments .

The body is from an EVO trooper and the helmet from a legacy sandtrooper.

Still need sanding the armor to remove finger print marks.

Regards

The second concept is a Heavy Assault Dark Trooper.  This units are the heavy hitters within the 501st and the figure is in  an early stage of development. The body is from a Hulkbuster figure, the head from a EU Dark Trooper and shoulder and knee armor from some Halo reach Spartans bits, weapons are assorted bits from warhammer 40k models and other weapons I have at hand. The weapons are magnetized to allow customization of the unit's payload according to tactical requirements.

Well now this calls for a front page update. I like it all. Main things I like

1. paint scheme
2. marvelous green sculpt work on that other trooper
3. magnet mounted weapons is a great idea

To all the of you, that have left comments, I really appreciate it. Continuing with the topic. What is the 501st without it's master? Here is a fully armored Darth Vader. I always wanted to make something like this, resembling  a knight or samurai armor, hope you enjoy as much as I did creating it, At this point I painted more tactical in flat black but I was thinking in adding some gloss black to some parts of the armor and helmet. I would love to hear your comments on that.

Green putty for helmet on top a resin custom head
Chest sculpted with green putty
Body Iron Man 2 stealth armor
Shoulders, Halo armor pieces (shoulder pads)
Armored skirt from a Avengers chitauri action figure

Here are some images during development
