Gi-Joe Techno Viper (Cobra Engineer)
« on: December 11, 2011, 07:18:47 AM »
Got this pretty little beauty in the mail today from an ebay seller. As of yet, I have not found this wave in my area.
Described on the card as Engineers that can build, rebuild, or retrofit anything, this trooper's weapon/tool of choice is the PlazArc Plasma Electric arc welding system.
He carries a welder pistol, Pneumatic Claw, hammer, shears, power pack, diagnostic case and pistol

We are back to the normal excellent joe articulation on this one with the tri-jointed knees and the wrist articulation that is similar to the 1st line of cw figures.
the helmeted head is one piece and ball jointed. His waist is a ball joint under his chest that is covered by a removable vest. The sculpting is impressive although the plastic used for the hands is a bit floppy for my tastes. All of his tools fit into slots on his power backpack and each has an attachment point for the included hose that connects to the backpack. He also comes with a cobra emblem laden road cone and the obligitory figure stand. Curiously missing was the fold out figure line catalog from the previous waves that was never up to date anyways.
If you don't mind purple, this is a welcome addition to anyone's growing cobra army.
I am anxious to give the rest of the figures in this wave a good looking at. even the renegades ones.

Holy cow... if any customizers are looking to make their own version of Ralph McQuarrie's concept for Darth Vader, this helmet is the base they're looking for!  It's almost the exact helmet!
I have altered the action figure. Pray I don't alter it further.

One of my favorite odd figures from ARAH era, I am so glad he finally has an update.  Will be at my door soon.

Updates Mon-Fri every week, also reviews and much much more.

working on a button on the front page for this guy. I will be honest, most JOE reviews won't make the front page, but this one and the Zombie one will.

I wish I had more time and all of em would, but time is always the enemy. Nice job Clint.

Your review had me picking these figures up and I aim to do more until the Yarders tell me they don't want em.

an interesting flash-back figure...

I don't really like the way the vest/coat piece fits the figure.  It leaves the waist looking too tiny.  They should have given him a belt or something to beef it up...

Good accessories though, and an interesting head sculpt.  If I ever see this figure I'd probably get one.

Chest doesn't bug me so much, to me it looks like he has some kind of bullet resistant vest that is a bit bulky.  I would imagine running into the battlefeild to fix broken tanks he would have to have such protections.
