Revell X-Wing Fighter

scale: 1/29
no. of parts: 62
length: 416mm
wing spread: 390mm
price: ~37€
skill level: 2 (of 5)

This is the third and biggest version of the X-Wing from Revell and the first try to show some inner details of this famous vehicle.
The kit includes a stand to show the X-Wing in flight-configuration, a pilot figure and R2-D2.
The X-Wing shows the markings of red five (not again Revell >:().

This is by far not the best Revell easykit. The inner details like the proton-torpedo compartment are badly detailed and the kit is pretty unsteady.
Other markings and another astromech would have been nice.

First off just great to see you back!

Just a great review of this. Kinda sad they missed the mark a bit on what could have been the best version of this yet. I mean, why wouldn't they get better detail on a larger model? Time for the front page.

thx Shawn
The kit is really not the best.
I hope Revell will bring us some great new stuff in 2014.

Christoph, great to hear from you old friend! Sorry to hear this kit is a bit lacking, I am wondering if you will modify it down the road?

Revell AT-ACT

The All Terrain Armored Cargo Transport (AT-ACT) was a larger version of the standard All Terrain Armored Transport combat walker that featured a dedicated cargo bed for the transportation of heavy building materials or combat munitions. It was deployed at major Imperial construction projects, such as shipyards and sprawling research installations.

Revell AT-ACT: http://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06754.html

scale: 1/100
number of parts: 45
length: 217mm (8,54 in.)
height: 197mm (7,76 in.)
skill levell: 1
light and sound effects
Batteries are included (2x LR44)
selling price (in Austria): 19,99 €
articulation: swivel-mounted hips, swivel-mounted knees, swivel-mounted ankles, ball-jointed neck, swivel-mounted laser cannons
sound effects: walking sound and firing sound
light effect: red light in the cockpit

The Revell kit looks great. The articulation is adequate for this scale. The grey could be a little bit darker and some weathering would have been nice. The sound effects are pretty good (loud and clear).
All in all a very nice kit.

Revell Imperial Star Destroyer

The Imperial-class Star Destroyer (ISD) known generally as the Imperial Star Destroyer, was a product line of massive dagger-shaped capital ships of the Imperial Navy and later the Navy of the First Order. It consisted of two variants, the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer and the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer.

Revell Imperial Star Destroyer: http://www.revell.de/produkte/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06756.html

scale: 1/4000
number of parts: 46
length: 400mm (15,75 in.)
height: 105mm (4,13 in.)
width:  230mm (9,06 in.)
skill levell: 1
light and sound effects
Batteries are included (3x LR44)
selling price (in Austria): 29,99 €
sound effects: flight sounds and laser cannon firing
light effect: illuminated engines
additional features: rudimentary fold-out landing gear

I'm really impressed by the kit. The detailing is very good for the scale. The light effects in the engines are very good.
I would have preferred a nice display stand instead of the landing gear.

Great reviews! Thanks for the AT-ACT pictures and details in particular. The promo pictures revell gave were misrepresenting, the legs were done kinda wacky. The way you placed them looks much better. You should work for Revell, setting up promo shots. It's cool that it has a ball joint head, that makes a lot of sense.

Thank you JDeck.
It would be nice to work for Revell but I guess that will never happen. I know the promo pics of the AT-ACT were not the best but the kit itself is pretty good. The ball jointed neck is the best solution for this scale but the neck articulation on the Revell AT-AT looks better in my opinion.

New Revell Episode VIII kits:

  • A-Wing blue
  • A-Wing red
  • Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter
  • First Order Heavy Assault Walker
  • Poe's Boosted X-Wing Fighter
  • Millennium Falcon

Here is a link to the Revell site if someone is interested: https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-episode-viii.html

I will get at least the blue A-Wing and maybe the Assault Walker (even if I'm not happy with the design)

I  went to my local hobby shop, and bought one of the small Star Destroyer kits. It's cool that there are no sprues, everything fits well. I want the bigger ZVEZDA version, but I want a lot of things. Anyway, I plan to hang mine in the background of a diorama I have. There are many possibilities with it. It's an underrated kit for sure.
