Don's Outpost 423
« on: April 25, 2020, 10:35:49 AM »
Working on some smaller scenes and buildings that will fit on my large shelf environment. These will be built outside the shelf environment and placed as need on the shelf dio. That way I can move them around for different looks.

It's not as fun though. I like making figures more.

First, in case you haven't seen it, this is the big shelf environment. It's an IKEA shelf with some dividers left out, and other dividers cut to make doors. It's been painted, and I added LED lighting. You can see a ton of greebles on the shelves that will eventually be placed in the environment.

Here's a building I recently made (probably it's not done yet). And some greeble accessories.

Here's a door I put in the larger dio.

And here's the new pieces I'm working on.

Here's a sealing coat of Mod Modge (with some black paint).

And here's a drunk Jawa.

Looks great! I especially like the props you made, and those little liquor bottles are awesome! I'll have to find those for the bar I'll build.

1:12th scale dollhouse accessories I found on Ebay. Got the beer glasses on ebay too. Actually, there are a bunch of dollhouse accessories in my wish list.

Here are liquor bottles.

Last you saw of these pieces I had covered them in black. That's a sealing layer of Mod Podge mixed with some black paint. Next I sprayed on a primer color (mostly to get the 1st door color started), followed by the base building color.
I also built this throne thing for my custom Hutt. Gave it a base layer color, and some darker slop sprayed over it. This thing is going to get some heavy dirty wash and weathering.

This continues to be a HUGE learning curve for me building this shit, and using the airbrush. Speaking of which; my next project is a spray booth for the airbrush. The backyard just isn't working.

Here's with the black Mod Podge layer.

Here's the base building color.

Here's the throne thing.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'm loving this thing, but with some HEAVY washes and weathering maybe it'll be cool...

Oh, if you're thinking about trying something similar; that door is a 3d print that I got from Ebay seller relivingthepastagain.

And a built a doorframe for this door from Diorama Outfitters. I hate the current (primer) color I used on the frame, but with some dark wash it'll look cool (or it'll get repainted). With this doorframe I'll be able to place this door anywhere on the big dio shelf without it being permanently fixed to one spot. Very fuckin' cool.

If you're interested I got this door from Ebay seller Dioramaoutfitters.

What some modular pieces might look like on the big shelf dio.

Here's something cool that I hadn't mentioned yet. When planning the smaller buildings and mini-dios to go on the big dio shelf I've limited their width so they can fit on the shelf sideways. This way a mini-dio can be used along the back wall, or against one of the side walls.

Or, fit two near each other to make an alleyway.
