Rogue One era Rebel Commando
« on: October 10, 2016, 09:06:33 AM »
Here's a concept setup for my Rogue One era Rebel Commando.
The cap is still a work in process as well as the Blaster which will receive a telescopic stock and a sling.
Other than that, this is how I plan to go to the movie premiere in December.

From what we can see on the various screenshots taken from the trailers, the Rebel DH17 Blasters seem to be in a carbine-type configuration in Rogue One which makes them look a little bulkier.
Since I had the Hasbro Nerf Blaster, I decided to give it an AR-type stock.

Here you go:

The "buffer tube" is made from a solid piece of round plastic and is glued to the end cap of the Blaster body.
We made a groove in the underside of the buffer tube and inserted a rail in which the length adjustment pin of the stock can lock the stock in place at the desired position.
A metal rod is centered in the buffer tube and reaches into the Blaster body through the end cap.
I drilled a hole into the underside of the end cap through which I poured a two-component liquid plastic which solidified around the rod in the end cap and a) adds weight to the Blaster and b) keeps the rod securely in place.

Does that make any sense?

BTW: yes, I left the Star Wars, license and other markings on the Blaster body in order to give any authorities something to look at in case they decide to do a weapons check while going to or back from an event.
There will be no question if this is a toy/prop or a real weapon.

Looks like a great conversion to me. Pretty ingenious way to attach it too.

Let's call this the almost finished Blaster.
I might add a Russian-style sling to it.

The stock is fully telescopic so it can be shortened if a compact weapon is needed and extracted for precise shooting.

I'm not sure if they have used AR-type stocks in the movie as the stills I could pull from the trailers are not as revealing as I would have liked them to be, but at this early stag quite a bit of the various costumes made are guesswork.
Those who go for the Death Trooper or Shore Trooper look had the original movie costumes at the various events.

This stock conversion just makes so much sense to me. I am so envisioning this type of thing done to an E-11 too.

Actually, there are a few guys doing resin or 3D printed Rogue One E-11s as well as Shore Trooper and Death Trooper Blaster.

This Blaster is done by a guy from the Netherlands.
