Thanks re the feedback on the Hoth wips! The Attack base is now once again complete an the Probot set 99%. late last night in a fit of pique I put in a half serious bid on a nice looking vintage Snowspeeder - to my surprise I won the bloody thing!! nothing remains of my childhood one so it looks like my modern Zev version will be heading to the bay!! :)

Seem to be having a real run on ESB items at the moment!!

Snowspeeder is here and it is lovely, missing one engine and the harpoon (the block is still there as are 99% of the stickers.) she is now crewed by my modern Luke and Dack!

In other vintage news I've been playing with chemicals...

Got a few more moulds curing then first castings tomorrow. Trying out the following (Fingers crossed)

Luke Stormie helmet
Leia Endor helmet
Imperial blaster
Rebel blaster
Bespin blaster
Endor blaster
Endor Commando rifle
ATAT Driver Rifle

Well first up is my vintage Snowspeeder - this baby is in great condition and only set me back about $18 inc postage!! just need a harpoon and one engine for her...

And here is the first photo of my casting prototypes!! The Endor rifle and helmet  didn't make it (problem with my moulds more than anything else!) so here we go....I'm going to have make a new mould for the Stormie helmet too as the sprue ended up in the wrong place. Also the paint apps of the helmet are very rushed - more of a test to check the liquid plastic would take the paint...

As ever, thanks for reading!

Thanks Tamer!

And thanks to Clint and the other casters who helped me start up this side project :)

All those weapons are from my first run...

Looks like your two piece molds are working out alright. Are the castings easy to clean up?

Clint if I use just the right amount of liquid plastic then 90% of the paper thin flashing can be gently torn off by hand & the rest can be shaved away with a scapel :)

The stuff I'm using cures very quickly in the moulds so I'm having to work fast when pouring.

It's getting Hoth in here...  ;)

This is the first time that I have had a complete playset. In 1983 as a 7 year old kid walking to school in Manly, Australia I spotted this playset (minus Probot and post) dumped by someone's trash! Now as an avid Star Wars fan I couldn't leave it there so after a milliseconds thought I nabbed it and saved it from the dump. The rescued playset was featured in many of my childhood battles over the following years.

Fast forward to 2012 and thanks to the power of the Internet I've managed to buy both a Probot and thanks to another collector I've even found the missing post that the droid sits on! Complete at last :)

I've also found the last lever to complete my Hoth Imperial Attack Base so finally this one is also complete - however I've got 2/3rds of a second spare one as well now!

And finally... I've developed a real thing for Kenner Minirigs at the moment... I've recently tracked down a vintage box and hose for my childhood tripod cannon and I still want to buy another three ESB era minirigs. And of course I still need a couple of parts for the snowspeeder. I think that once I've got my display room / vintage gaming den / converted garage up and running I'll have a full on vintage Hoth diorama in there somewhere!

More soon...
