"Last night I went back to working on the dojo. I cut the sides out and within every join I have placed magnetic tape, this holds the sides together and makes it completely collapsible. I have place the bamboo flooring down to see how it looks and work. I might place another layer on top of the bamboo to act as mats."

Its a pretty good idea to make that collapsible!

Panther gets sidetracked in a great way...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 29 2017
"I got a little sidetracked this weekend! I recently acquired a G.I Joes 1986 Cobra Stun, the vehicle is in good condition but in need of clean. The hatches had been supplied but they had been broken into pieces and it had one wheel trim. It is missing two trims, both flags and the rear swivel gun. After looking through sites eBay and forums on Facebook, I decided to cast some of the parts I needed, help improve my casting skills."

The story continues as his casting turns out awesome!

Darth Daddy is back with two new customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, August 29 2017
"Just made two new customs!

Yerka Mig was a male Human Imperial bureaucrat with a high security clearance. As of 0 BBY he had well been established in Tatooine. Mig, stricken with remorse after his home planet Ralltiir was brutally occupied by the Empire, retired and fled to the Outer Rim Territories, pursued by the Imperial Security Bureau. He was a patron in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina on Mos Eisley, and was hiding from Imperial agents inside when Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker sought passage to Alderaan there.

To create this figure we repainted a Black Series Ceremonial Luke Skywalker and swapped out the head of the figure for a cast of an Evergrey cast that we acquired through a friend. There is nothing more fum then adding another Cantina denizen to the collection!

"YERKA MIG"

The second figure is a quick Rogue One project we did to add some articulation to Hasbro's K-2SO action figure. The 6" version of the figure had the super-articulation that we all wanted in the 3.75" scale. Too add the articulation we used the knee and elbow joints from a Terminator action figure we purchased on eBay. We added two metal rods to the knee joints for stability by creating a post that we inserted into a hole we drilled up into the upper leg of the original figure. We did some sanding to the joints of the Terminator figure to keep the rounded edges that the original K-2SO action figure had. By the time the project was finished we had the version we wanted adding both knee and elbow articulation to increase the figure's range of motion. We skipped adding articulation at the ankles and wrists due to the thin plastic. It was really nice to be able to increase the pose-ability of this 5 poa figure!

"K-2SO with Improved Articulation"

They both look great to me.

Fiala Fernbrugg is back with a new TIE...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 27 2017
"TIE/D Defender

The TIE/D Defender, commonly known as the TIE Defender or T/D, was a high-performance TIE Series starfighter developed for the Imperial Navy by Sienar Fleet Systems shortly before the Battle of Endor. Representing a shift in starfighter design from previous TIE models, the ship featured a hyperdrive as well as deflector shields to allow it to operate independently of Imperial capital ships. The ship's speed and agility, combined with its firepower, made it arguably the most advanced starfighter available at the time.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/D_Defender/Legends]

I used two Revell TIE Interceptor model kits for the custom. They are very cheap to get on Amazon for about 5,50€. The wings are slightly modified. The superstructure for the wings was made with an plastic ring and parts from the TIE Interceptor kits. The wings are removable.
I know, the wing is not 100% correct but I'm with the result.
I made a simple display stand with nut wood and 1mm wire.
I hope you like it."

I know I sure do!

New artwork from Art deWhill...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, August 24 2017
"Sooo, what did I do over the past months...?
This one has a long story... originally done in 2015 as traditional painting with lots of heavy strokes and thick paint. But I did not like the result and almost threw it away. Overpainting was no option because of the heavy textures that where already there and I also did not want to paint another one... at least not then. New ideas were coming up how to layout the new painting I began reworking a photo of the failed image digitally. Then a friend who is running a little publishing house requested the new concept as cover artwork and so it all ended up with a heavy rework in photoshop instead of a new traditionally painted image. This is the now satisfying result."

It sure looks awesome to me!

I used the mezco Kirk and removed the shirt and used the rubber mirror Kirk mirror universe tunic and had to alter it a little to make it fit snuggly. The sash is just some material I painted gold and attached it, the boots were done using pleather, the chairs top cushion is a piece of foam board wrapped in pleather.

-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, August 20 2017
"Yesterday I had the idea to put two lights at the bottom of the steps leading into the station. These are made using polystyrene balls, with a base coat of white and then a yellow wash once dry.

Light blue tissue paper has been used and glued over the backs of the windows and another coat of black paint has been added to the rears of each wall.

Finally each peace has been glued to the base, all I have to do are the final little touches to this before declaring it finished."

Wow, it looks great. He sure looks almost done to me.

Added a wash to his jacket so it would be shiny, he been walk around mos Isley . Big thanks to Chadpeakobi-one for helping out with colors."

-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 19 2017
"Hi All,

The bridge is now complete and here are my usual out door pics, all I have to do now is make a perspex cover for it.

The floor/base is high density foam just cut to shape and then the bridge sections glued in place. The large Trek symbol I cut out from the Mezco box that the figures came in and painted the edges and glued it to the base.

Ron"

Ron really worked hard on this one and it really shows.

Gold Leader One is back with a new Action Fleet Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, August 19 2017
"Here is my custom Action Fleet TIE Avenger. An Imperial Pilot is included, but I have not decided on a second figure yet.

The wings are actually different, they are from the website Shapeway, a seller was kind enough to make them for me. Vader's wings were detached, then I filed down the attachment on the body of the ship. The wings from Shapeway were spray painted black and I added in the gray details. The body of the ship was painted with the same gray. I added in some details with a darker gray, as well as some red lights in the back."

It looks pretty good to me. Daggone I miss Action Fleet.

Panther updates us on his Gotham PD Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, August 18 2017
"Last night I mixed up another burnt umber and deep red mix and painted the last two walls but as you can see it is a little darker than the original. While the paint was drying, I added black to it and using a fine brush I went in between all bricks and cracks.

I mixed up a little grey to go over the front door frame, then a black wash over the steps.

My next step is to make up another umber/red mix and go over the bricks around the front door and round each brick."

Talk about looking good! He is really working fast on this one.

Talk about one talented dude, William Palitti continues to impress with his latest news that he is getting ready to start up a custom and web series on Nagamaroo: The Ithorian that pilots the Mynock Surface Skimmer SS-K7.

I do believe he is planning on making both in custom form as he creates said series. From his space station walls to his action figure bleachers to now this in addition to some awesome customs, William is really becoming one of my favorite customizers!

"So after a divorce, a move, and starting over from scratch I'm slowly working through my depression thus the rebirth of my Fallout project. I had commissioned Alex Saavedra (aka Youtube's Al Figures) from Facebooks Diostructures and ACBA to make me a Red Rocket truck stop which he is currently working on now. In prepreation of the Truckstop's arrival I'm working on several add on projects.

First up my most proudest piece ever due to scale and detail is the Fatman weapon from Fallout 4. All scratch built, the part that hold the Mininuke is actually a separate piece to use as a sled system. The dark grey half circle is a safety ladder piece for model railroads. I have it scaled to the Walking Dead figures as they are the closest scale figure with the Funko 6 inch Fallout 3 Power Armor to make it more inline with Fallout 4."

It is good to see him back and glad to see customizing is helping to add some peace.

"Hi All,

90% done one the partial bridge and just need to make the rails and add the floor and the plaque and the Enterprise layout for the turbo lift area.

Before I painted the instrument panels I made three intercom's and two scanner's for the stations, I also made the grill/access panels under the stations which they were all made using plastic card and fly screen for the grills and the intercoms.

Once I painted everything I then glued them into place and then cut out long thin strips of plastic card and painted them black and glued them in place near the turbo lift.

Chekov was done using another Sulu Mezco body and the head is from Diamond Select.

Ron"

I just can't get over how all those small buttons are aligned perfectly. Can you imagine how tedious that must be!

I collected several of my clones when I was young, then got into hobbying, and now have combined both! I plan on posting some customs later this week, but to start here are some pics of my Republic and Separatist forces. I'll post them in this thread as best I can. Apologies for any odd lighting and focus, it's my first time documenting my collection. Enjoy!"

Fellow builders as you probably know I'm red/green colour blind and would value your option of the first coat before I wipe up another batch and carry on."

"Hole In The Ground Productions has a new droid kit available on their web store full of great resin cast pieces made to enhance your dioramas and display shelves. Their latest WED-9 is a fun day project that only requires some paint, sandpaper and krazy glue. I first sanded down any small imperfections in the cast, then primed the figure in black paint before I dry brushed in some color. After, I applied multiple washes to give the droid the "used" look.

When everything was completely painted, I glued on the head and arms to finish up the figure. He looks great on display along with the other figures found in our Mos Eisley street display.

WED-9-M1, also known as a bantha droid, was a WED Treadwell droid seen around Mos Eisley. Built out of spare parts by Jawas, it was owned by Ohwun and Chachi De Maal.

Ron Hembling finishes his Darth Nihilus Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, August 9 2017
"Hi All,

Darth Nihilus is done.

Recipe

Nihilus - is a Hasbro Kylo Ren body and Finn head and I used plastic card and putty to make the mask and I then used 1/72 scale pieces and wire to do the sliver parts.

I used light black material for the robes and cape and teh light saber is a very simple modification of Farm boy Luke's saber.

Base - is made up using Bandai 1:12 bases and then balsa wood was used for the sides. The ground work was done by mixing spakfilla and sand together and the rock were doen using foam and then the spakfilla/sand mix was added over that.

The green wisps were done by mixing light green with Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and then applying it the base with a brush.

Ron"

Wow, that turned out nice. Way to bring that mask home Ron.

"Wal-Mart Exclusive Kid Connection "Dinosaur Attack Play Set" Review

While not as impressive per piece as the "Shark Exploration Play Set", this dinosaur themed set is still a great bargain for the $14.97 price point.

This set contains:

1) A massive, articulated (hinge jaw, swivel shoulders/hips) Tyrannasaurus Rex action figure with electronic lights and sounds (wound on left flank activates the electronics).

2) A small, two man jeep-like vehicle with rotating wheels and two swiveling weapons.

3) A small one man helicopter, unfortunately the wonky way too short tail boom ruins the design. The rotor spins, the searchlight swivels and there is a hinged arm on the left side that can swing out away from the body.

4) Two articulated (swivel necks/shoulders/hips) Dinosaur Hunter action figures.

5) An Accessory tree containing survival equipment (light, lantern, cameras, water bottle, tablet and walking stick).

6) A parts tree of baby dinosaurs (T-Rex, Triceratops, Parasauralophus and Stegosaurus) and a 2-part hollow egg to put one inside to simulate its hatching.

7) Two, fairly large foliage diorama pieces. Sadly, these are very flat and barely three dimensional and have hollow backs."

And that is just the start of his review folks. Looks like a fun set just rife for customizing.
