Darth Daddy is back with a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, April 30 2017
"Even my latest I can't take much credit for since all I did was drill a head and sew a robe.

"REEGESK" created by Darth Daddy
Reegesk was a Ranat scavenger and experienced thief from Aralia, known as a fair trader. He regularly traded with Jawas such as Het Nkik. Reegesk was not picky, and was willing to steal anything, even trash. His tribe needed power for their bootleg vaporator unit, so he went into Mos Eisley to look for a power source. He attempted to trade a Sand People battle idol to Nkik in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, during which he quietly stole the power source of Nkik's BlasTech Industries DL-44 for use with his tribe's vaporator, leading to the death of Nkik, not knowing his gun had no power during a shootout with stormtroopers.

In all honesty, this figure took me about 30 minutes to make. Exactly as long as it took me to drill the Evergrey headcast, place it on the body I had in fodder, and sew the soft good robe shut. In less than hour I was able to add another desired character to our Cantina display."

Definitely a good 30 minutes Brian!

Ron Hembling finishes Mos Eisley Escape...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, April 30 2017
"Hi All,

Mos Eisley Escape is now completed. I added landing lights which are 1:35 scale WW2 German stick grenades. I also added some more containers which are oval and these are 1:35 scale WW2 Germangas mask containers. I also gave the base a little more weathering by using a beige brown wash and then a light drybrush of Iraqui sand

Ron"

Yes, Ron is just that good folks.

Elias wows us all with his final 8th Grade Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, April 30 2017
"So for my school 8th grade final project, I was recently given an assignment where I had to create a blog explaining the process of adopting a new skill and putting it into practice. I had hoped I could have written a blog about anything since I had seven years of experience writing the Customs for the Kid blog. Although that would have given me an unfair advantage over my peers if all I had to do was some copy and paste to get my assignment done. Therefore, I decided to try my hand at something closely related to creating my own action figures, I figured I'd tackle learning how to make a Star Wars diorama.

You would have thought for as long as I've been writing a blog, that I would have tried making a diorama at least once, but we never really had the space in the house to both build and display a large scale piece. Dad once made a small display piece for a few of our Star Wars Rebels action figures, but that is about all we ever attempted and I wasn't even home for that build.

I have a feeling that this may be the only diorama that I do. Not because I didn't enjoy it, but because I have no idea where I'm going to even put this one now that it is completed. I probably should have went a little smaller on this build.

Nevertheless, I learned quite a bit making this diorama. By the time I finished, I realized I acquired more than just one skill, but I added several new ones to my skill set. I learned how to use plaster of paris bandages, installation and utilization of LED lighting in a display, and ways I could create an uneven surface in my display base with a variety of mediums I never used before.

I have to give a shout out to Frank D'iorio's Diorama Workshop website for providing me with a great step by step explanation on how to fabricate the outer shell of the Tusken Raider Hut. I took it a step further and fleshed out the inside too, complete with tusked supports wrapped in real leather bindings, fur rugs, and a metal fireplace with light effects.

On top of that I had to make my first video tutorial explaining the entire build process in great detail so viewers could recreate my final result. Dad even taught me a few tricks in post production as I edited what I had filmed.

But enough talk, watch my tutorial!"

Bravo Elias, Bravo!

Ron Hembling starts a ROTJ Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 26 2017
"Hi All,

Started a new dio/display this afternoon and this time it will be Boba with Han in carbonite from RotJ.

The base so far is made using foam board and the grills are from a plastic fly swatter which I cut out from the flat swatting piece.

I have added LED's and they will run of a 9v battery.

Ron"

Wait till you see a dark shot. The lights are fantastic!

Ron Hembling shares a Planet of the Apes Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 26 2017
"Hi All,

Finished off a PotA 2 in 1 dio yesterday.

Recipe

Apes - are from NECA and are 7" scale, I got them into the poses I liked and then glued the joints and puttied them up as well as doing the fur on the heads so that it looked more natural. The figures were painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.

Bases - are made from the Bandai kits and I used balsa wood for the sides. I used a mix of 40% spakilla and 60% dirt and added it to the base and left it to dry over night.

Once dry I drilled holes into the base where the grass was going to be glued. The grass is real grass and I dipped them into some Methylated Spirits and let it dry out for a few hours, once the grass was all dry I then painted them using Vallejo's Medium Olive and the small grass tufts are from a company called miniNatur.

Ron"

I do enjoy seeing Ron's new builds!

If you are like me by the time you found out about that around 3 PM Eastern yesterday this was already sold out. From what I can tell it didn't even last 10 minutes. Still, check this link as I look for Hasbro to sell a few more of em before they take it off the Toy Shop.

I am also liking the fact that all the vintage 6 inch is selling out too as it shows Hasbro how popular the vintage carded line is. Here's to hoping they never do away with at least some form of it for a very long time.

And Hasbro, have we said yet how happy and thankful we are you are bring that back to us in the 3.75" line up in the Spring of 2018! To me that was the best news of Celebration!

"Darth Armoress Customs Commando Gregor Mark II. You can still get these clone wars style Republic Commando Boss figures pretty cheap on ebay, so with the popularity of the clone Wars still pretty strong, thought I'd take another shot at him, and this time I think he looks much better. The black wash helps, even though I think it get away from me in a few spots. Also decided it was easier just to glue the backpack on, sits nicely all they time, and doesn't fall off occasionally.

If anyone is interested, he's listed here:"

I think he looks great. This character was definitely a favorite in the latest fans choice poll too.

Ron Hembling creates a T-47 Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, April 23 2017
"Hi All,

Finished a new dio today and I have been playing Battlefront alot lately and love it as it always gives me dio idea's.

This dio depicts aT-47 Airspeeder heading into battle on Sullust.

Recipe

Speeder - is from Bandai and is built staright form the box except the pilot which are from Hasegawa's 1:48 pilot/ground crew set as I wanted pilots with masks. The speeder was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.

Base - is foam board cut out to the shape I wanted then I used scrap pieces of high denisty foam and ripped those apart to make the rocks.

Once the foam rocks were glued down and had dried I used spakfilla with a little PVA glue and some artist Slate colour paint and covered the base and rocks.

Once dry I painted and weathered the base using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks. The lave was done by mixing Vallejo's Flat Red and a little of Vallejo's Light Orange in with Woodland Scenics Realistic Water and then used a brush and filled in the lava stream section

"TIE EXPERIMENTAL MK1 (BIZZARO)

The TIE Experimental M1, also known as the TIE Bizarro, was an experimental member of the TIE Series and a part of the TIE Experimental Project.
One of the starfighters built by an Imperial research project led by Director Lenzer under the command of Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin, the M1 consisted of a single standard TIE/LN starfighter wing panel with two wing braces connected to a pair of standard TIE series cockpit pods. The port pod held the control systems, and the starboard pod held a turbolaser much heavier than the laser cannons equipped on any previous TIE.

"Let's return to Star Wars again...this was a fun figure I wanted to do for quite some time:

STAR WARS - Chewbacca (Yavin Ceremony)

Like many fans I thought it a pity that Chewie never received a medal after the Battle of Yavin. Fortunately "Star Wars Revisited", which I consider as the definitive version of SW (next to the "Despecialized Edition", of course), fixed this. ;) The figure itself was easy to do, I removed the head with boil-and-pop, shortened the head peg slightly, gave him his medal, reattached the head...et voila."

He sure looks good to me!

Ron Hembling finishes a Falcon Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, April 20 2017
"Hi All,

Firstly I would like to thank the person that sent me two of the little mini Falcon's from Bandai. Thanks heaps I really appreciate it and please let me know who you are.

Inbetween painting the Poe's X-wing base I decided to make a mini Falcon from Bandai which took me about 1.5 hours all up.

The kit is straight from the box and it is an amazing piece to say the least the details on it are stunning, way to go Bandai.

I used the stickers from the kits and once they were all on I went over each one with a pair of pointy sweezers. Once that was done I used model glue and went over each one to blend in the stickers to the model.

The model was painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Ron"

It looks great to me. He also has a nice update on the base for the Poe X-Wing Project he is working on so scroll around!

"General Merrick's Blue Leader X-Wing

Started on this over the weekend, and I plan to finish it this coming Friday/Saturday/Sunday! It's an old POTF2 FX X-Wing, which has been in storage for years. I thought it would be a great opportunity to re-purpose it!"

I already like the looks of this!

Today is the last day to decide the next Hasbro Vintage Collection Figure!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 19 2017
Wow, have I gotten in a ton of emails and thank you for those who have sent in their idea. I have updated them so far and here is what I have. Don't forget the particulars:

"First-round voting in Hasbro’s initiative will take place at Star Wars fan sites from today, April 15-April 19; after voting closes, the top picks from each site will be entrants in a final poll at StarWars.com, which will run from April 26-30.

Fans can only submit 1 vote per email address through Wednesday, 4/19"

So make sure you get me your character selections by midnight eastern time on Wednesday (email the Tamer) with the subject line:

"TVC FAN FIGURE VOTE"

There has also been some clarification that this will only be made into a 3.75" figure not that and a 6" figure as was previously rumored. See the ISY Thread for all the latest as fans vote for their next action figure! Talk about fun!

A new diorama from Ron Hembling...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 19 2017
"Hi All,

Next dio is 1:72 Poe's X-wing, I have painted and weathered it and just need to some fine details and weathering. The dio I'm doing for this X-wing is when he's flying over the water in TFA.

I have started on the base, I just need to let the foam board dry before I start doing the water.

Ron"

Its gonna be another good one from Ron!

Camo Deafies gives us a work in progress...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 19 2017
"Latest WIP; Humpbacked gunship using sheet styrene and ARC-170 wing/engines....

Started with realizing I've lost, and likely threw away one of the ARC engine cowl covers for the front, then I tried to fit easter egg shells on the front, they're too large for the engines...then I spied my old halloween eyeball ping pong balls... decided to cut them in half...presto they fit nearly perfectly! Had to do some trimming and making slots for the wing tabs but they look hilarious now."

This is one great mock up. I like it a lot!

Blizzard Force does another Vintage Carded Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 19 2017
"I'm currently progressing/looping through the OT movies, so after ANH and ESB, here's a ROTJ card... Custom designs are always fun, but I still want to have modern equivalents for all of Kenners's vintage figure offerings one day - so here's Malakili, Jabba's Rancor Keeper."

He looks spot on to me!

Be a Force For Change and get the chance to visit the Han Solo Set!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 19 2017
"Fans who enter today at Omaze.com/StarWars will have the chance to win a trip to the set of the upcoming untitled Han Solo movie. While Davis is a little worried about spoilers — he will appear in the movie, making it his fifth Star Wars film — there should be some more interesting things to see than the studio parking lot, vending machines, and office supplies he promises. The winner will also meet the film’s directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and have a chance to appear in the movie. And while this is a prize Han himself would probably fly to Alderaan and back for, it’s all in support of some good causes: UNICEF and Starlight Children’s Foundation."

With the 3rd wall half completed, I wanted to see how it looks so far. I still need to do the inside of the 3rd wall before doing both ground and first floors.

In the mean time Batman is taking on Harley, the Joker and Killer Croc, just to check out the scale of this dio (honest!)

This is the first time I've ever made anything for 6 inch figures, I hope I have somewhere big enough to show this off."

It sure looks awesome so far!

Panther creates a tutorial for his blocks...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, April 17 2017
"Hi all

People have been asking me how I have been doing the brick work on my Facebook page, this spurred me to do a quick tutorial to which I wanted to share with the Yard.

I start by pulling the top layer of paper off the foam board. Picking off the excess that doesn't want to come off.

Then taking my Lego tool (a single piece of 1x2) and wearing protective gloves (believe me these help).

I slowly work my way across the board, line by line until I reach the end.

It's a slow and tedious process but I think we can all agree it does the trick.

I hope this proves useful to everyone."

I thought it was pretty straightforward and thank you for sharing Panther!

The latest customs I made was a member of my scum-squad for which a I want to create more members in the near future.

The second is a assassin droid from the bounty hunter guild. The other two are older customs which I made a few month ago. One is a mandalorian bounty hunter and the other one is a tusken warchief. I hope you enjoy my update and I´m looking foward for you feedback.

Ron Hembling starts on a Fett Dio...

"Hi All,

Next figure/display is Fett on Tatooine.

The base was one I did last year and it got pumped around so I decided to use it for this display. I used spakfilla to fill in holes and dents and I will be repainting the walls and redoing the ground work.

I am keeping the figure articulated and will paint and weather him in ESB colours.

Blizzard Forces isn't giving up his vintage carding!

"The Vintage Collection will return spring 2018...I watched the reveal on a livestream yesterday, got goosebumps watching this.

So....this means I will stop producing custom cards, since Hasbro's stepping in again.

....lol, just joking of course. ;) I'm honestly happy that more Vintage Collection is coming - and I'm certain there'll be lots of room for more cool customs... :)

Here's the Hasbro reveal:

And here's mine from 2016... ;)

....you know - they would've just had to ask - I'd have been more than happy to help... ;)

I'm currently going through the OT again and completing more customs...ANH was last, so next up is ESB. :)

It always struck me as odd that Kenner reissued figures with the subsequent movies, but kept the same picture as the first release. So - here's an ESB Stormtrooper with an ESB pic..."

Disney and Lucasfilm announce Star Wars Forces of Destiny!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, April 13 2017
"Disney and Lucasfilm today announced Star Wars Forces of Destiny, a new initiative celebrating the inspiring stories of iconic heroes from across the Star Wars universe. An original series of animated shorts (each 2-3 minutes in length) will explore exciting, all new adventures of key characters including Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others, ahead of books and a TV special later in the year. The stories will also be supported by a line of toys from Hasbro, including new ‘Adventure Figures’ – a fusion between traditional dolls and action figures, creating a whole new way to play Star Wars.

"Star Wars Forces of Destiny is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage, or Ahsoka's tenacity,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. "We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are. It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars."

Developed by Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars Forces of Destiny will remain true to the Star Wars canon, showing how choices both big and small ultimately shape the destinies of beloved characters. Launching in July, the animated micro-series will be available on Disney YouTube ahead of a two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts on Disney Channel in Fall 2017. Fans will be delighted to hear familiar voices in the series, including: Daisy Ridley (Rey), Felicity Jones (Jyn), Tiya Sircar (Sabine), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata as narrator).

Star Wars Forces of Destiny will also be supported by global product extensions, including books, apparel, bedding, and toys – including the new line of ‘Adventure Figures’ created by Hasbro, which bridges the gap between traditional action figures and dolls. Each individually designed figure features dynamic action, like Rey swinging her lightsaber, along with multiple points of articulation to help recreate the characters’ adventures and heroic moments with different poses.

“From Princess Leia to Sabine Wren, Star Wars heroines are unique, and we wanted to represent that in the product line for Star Wars Forces of Destiny,” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “The result is the creation of our new ‘Adventure Figures’ that celebrate the power and stories of these incredible characters and allow kids to recreate their most heroic moments at home.”

The 11-inch figures will depict characters including Rey, Jyn Erso, Princess Leia, Sabine Wren, plus loveable sidekicks and epic villains like BB-8, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and many more. Hasbro is also rolling out Star Wars Forces of Destiny role play and accessories—from Rey’s Extendable Staff, to a new, electronic Jedi Power Lightsaber, which are part of their Star Wars Bladebuilders system.

Fans attending Star Wars Celebration in Orlando will see a sneak peak of Star Wars Forces of Destiny during the “Heroines of Star Wars” panel on Friday, April 14. The panel, moderated by Amy Ratcliffe – host of “Lattes with Leia” podcast, will feature Carrie Beck – vice president of animation at Lucasfilm and Dave Filoni – executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, as well as Ashley Eckstein, Tiya Sircar and other surprise guests. For a first look at the new Star Wars Forces of Destiny Adventure Figures, stop by Hasbro booth #2744."

And Ron starts up a new project already!

Ron Hembling finishes Shocktrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, April 13 2017
"Hi All,

The Shocktroopers and bases are done and I changed my mind and decided to have two totally different bases instead of the 2 in 1 dio. I decicded to still have a simple Tatooine one and also went with a Endor base as well.

Recipe

Troopers - are from Bandai and have been built straight out of the box and then painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and Pastel Chalks. I have also given them an E-11 each with an extra hand glued to the weapon to save on having to pull apart the hand to add the next weapon.

The back packs have been made using plasticcard and left parts from the Bandai Sandtrooper back pack and the hose are left over parts from 1:20 scale S3FD mech suit kits.

Endor Base - is made using the Bandai stand that comes with the figures and have had balsa wood sides added. The ground work is a mix of static grass, dried moss, and potty mix, I mixed the lot together and then glued it to the base.

Once the ground work was dry I then gave it a good heavy wash of Vallejo Dark Brown and let it dry. Once dry I added the small plastic plants wich are from Joe Fixit Studios and the grass tufts are from miniNatur, the small ferns are laser cut from MIG and the large soft plastic fern I picked up from the local craft store and cut the ends off. Once all the plants were glued in place I gave all teh plastic plants a light wash of Vallejo Medium Green and then I gave them a 50/50 mix of Vallejo Medium Green/Medium Olive.

The small stone is made up using a mix of spakfilla and sand and once dry I used spafkilla to cover that. The moss on the stone is a mix of fine sand and spakfilla with Vallejo Medium Olive to give it depth.

Tatooine Base - has the Bandai figure base with balsa wood for the sides. I used a 60/40 mix of spakfilla/sand and then once added to the base and it was dry I used Vallejo Iraqui Sand to paint it. The small stone was done using the same mix as the sand and while it was hardening I used a small sandstone and lightly pressed in the mix to give it more realism.

The small stone was painted using Vallejo Dark Brown and then a was of Vallejo Dark Sand and once dry I used Patel Chalks to weather it.

Ron"

It is great seeing Ron document and explain his process. He really doesn't give any of us an excuse not to try this ourselves. Thanks Ron!

I figured f it, I'll make it into what I thought the figure should be from the start. Grendel Prime.

Dan "The Spectre" Kosa shares great Gorgons...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 12 2017
"Excerpt from "The Galactic Almanac Of Developed Species" (Fourth Edition):

The most elusive sentient species on Tolkien III is the Gorgon race. The Gorgons are an ancient reptilian race that at one point in the planet's distant history ruled the majority of its surface and the races that inhabit it. But that was long ago and the Gorgon empire has been reduced to a pale shadow of its former glory.

Gorgons are a race of reptilian humanoids that have upper bodies similar to humans and most other species in the Galaxy but from the "waist" down have powerful serpentine bodies. Their upper bodies are covered with very tiny scales save for their heads which are more heavily scaled. Their large eyes provide excellent vision both in bright sunlight and in the pitch black caves in which they currently reside. Gorgons are venomous, their enlarged fangs can penetrate the flesh of most species and their venom can kill a standard human quickly, an antidote exists, but as it is only in the possession of the Gorgons themselves, most bites prove to be fatal. Gorgons are extremely long lived, a Gorgon of fifteen thousand solar years of age is still considered to be in its prime.

Not a single Gorgon egg has hatched in over 1000 solar years, and infighting and wars have reduced their once great numbers significantly. Less than fifty individual Gorgons are believed to still exist on Tolkien III, almost all of which reside in the tropical equatorial region. On rare occasions, Gorgons can be found in other regions if they are at war. Although few Gorgons still exist, they command a powerful army of Trolls which they send against those who would invade their lands or insult their empress.

And today I finally have time to upload pictures of the finished Droideka:"

JDeck shares a Jack of All Trades Imperial...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 12 2017
"I've been wanting to make this figure for a while now. It's an ultimate Imperial Jack of all trades. He can be a Technician (ROTJ), Imperial Navy Trooper (ROTJ), Imperial Gunner (ANH), or a TIE pilot. I think if Hasbro made this, with all the accessories it would sell like crazy, because you can choose whatever figure you want to make. It's like the old school GI JOEs, with tons of options and accessories. Personally, I would buy these up like crazy, if they were available. We haven't gotten an updated DS Gunner, or a black uniform technician since the Saga collection . They have never made a Navy Trooper with the black coveralls. Having the TIE pilot option is a bonus.

He's just a repainted scan crewman with TIE pilot forearms, and an imperial officer head. I made the Gunner bib out of a Sandtrooper pauldron that I boiled and shaped, then painted. The rest is self explanatory."

He literally has created four figures in one!

Rezakai is back with new fan fiction!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, April 12 2017
"The night fell hard upon the once mighty Star Destroyer Kumo. Its' once ivory hull burned and twisted. Its decks half sunken into bloody and littered waters. Deep inside the ship few souls remained, fewer still would remain by daybreak. As the tide slipped away from the ship the lower decks slowly emerged from the waves. The moon's pull against the water also lowered the water line of the inlet to a simple wading depth."

And that is just the first paragraph! Trust me you will enjoy this foray into fan fiction!

"Hi All,

This is gong to be another 2 in 1 display using the Bandai Stormtroopers and I have repainted them into Shocktroopers and Painted and slightly weathered them using Vallejo paints. I still need to weather them with pastel chalks and make their backpacks and their bases.

Last update for the tonight, I have done a little wash to the troopers using a mix of medium grey and matt black and will finsih the weathering tomorrow.

I have also done the back packs their not 100% accurate but I love the way they turned out.

Everything on the back packs as the Bandai Sandtrooper pack except for the following - Small white tube with the tube going into it and into the side, The long rod on the rightand the small white top, these were done using plastic tube and the long tube is from a 1:20 scale M.ak SF3D kits

The Troopers are already looking fantastic!

OC47150 shares new customs before he goes to Celebration!

"A couple of quick ones before I head off for Celebration.

Mara Jade as the Emperor's Hand. I've enjoyed the mystery surrounding this concept. Used the Black Widow body, and the Mara Jade head and gun belt from the comic 2-pack. Never have cared for the 70s Farrah Fawcett-style hair on the BS Mara. The cloak is from the vintage Prune Face.

Last is Ki-Adi Mundi in Clone Wars armor. Found a Ki-Adi at a toy show recently, and I have extra CW Obi-Wan bodies lying around. Did a little repaint and there you go.

Hoping to find some good custom fodder at Celebration!"

I hope he has a great time. Good looking customs too!

Sandtrooper - Tatooine diorama/display.

Recipe

Troopers - are from Bandai and are built straight out of the box and have been painted and weathered usinbg Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.

Base - is made from foam board and I used balsa wood for the sides and also to add strength underneath, The walls have also been made from foam board and have had a spakfilla/sand mix added to them.

The sand is also a spakfilla/sand mix with some PVA glue added as well. The mositure evaporator was made using plumbers PVC pipe connection, plastic tube, plastic card, 1/72 and 1/35 parts.

The small machine is made using plastic tube, curtain rod rends, a lid from a tooth pick container and a deodorant lid. Once everything was put together they and the the diorama were painted and weathered using Vallejo Piants and pastel chalks.

Stronox shares two great new 6" Sith Lord Customs...

"Darth Krayt has been created from a mix of sculpting and a multitude of various bits and pieces. Everything about this figure has been made with keeping articulation in mind, thus none of the armor pieces interfere with articulation at all and the things like the shoulder spikes are very soft rubber like plastic. I even managed for the hilts to store on the back plate! The pony tail easily switches between heads and is perfect as it can turn any way you want and does not hit the armor either. Lastly, he is in scale as well with current black series 6 inch figs.

Darth Talon has been made mostly from an Ahsoka and Leia figure. She also retains all of her articulation and has been hand painted. Pre paint prepping was very important to ensure no rubbing and that actually took me the longest amount of time to do. I didn't want her to catch cold so I added one of my fabric capes with wired seam that fits over her head/tails without having to take off the head.

Both figs are up for auction and as always, thanks for looking at my creations guys! Much
appreciated!"

I am just speechless on both. They are hands down fantastic!

Ron Hembling done with his Tatooine Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, April 8 2017
"Hi All,

Have done the weathering on the small piece of equipment and I used Vallejo paints and pastel chalks. The walls have been heavily weathered using pastel chalks and I just need to tone the darker areas down with washes and drybrushing.

The Sandtroopers have had a matt black wash and then I used a baby wipe and dapped the excess paint off. I will complete the weathering on them using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.

The top sections of the walls will have magnets so they stay connected

Ron"

"Hi All,

Here are the outdoor pics and the recipe.

Solo - is from Hasbro's BS 6" line and has been painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Base - is a Bandai 1:12 base with balsa wood sides, I used high density foam and cut out the stones and then used a sand stone and pressed into the foam lightly to give them a more realistic look.

Once I had the foam glued inplace I then added a mix of spakfilla, dirts and paint to do the groud work. Once everything was dry I painted and weatherd the dio using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.

Legion078 starts a Destroyer Droid Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, April 6 2017
"Over the last weeks I didn't have much time to make huge progress...but what I have done so far on my Destroyer Droids is this:

- modification in detail of the twin blasters and back panels
- spray-painting them with primer "Chaos Black" from Citadel

The TAC version was quite damaged when I got it from the rummage sale for 50 cents!
I fixed the front visor which was bent with boiling water. I also drilled holes in the Destroyer's twin blasters to give it more detail:

As you can see the Droideka on the right was quite damaged when I got it. And I got just one purpose for such figures: Customizing! So I also drilled holes into the panels on the back:

I always wanted to see a Destroyer Droid in 3 3/4" which is able to fold up. But I assume it's not possible for Hasbro to do something like that in the price range of 3 3/4" Action Figures...Technically it should work I suppose - I am thinking of the engineers of Bakugan toys...

I will start with the TPM version because I messed it up before and I have more of them than I do of the TAC one (2).

Work in progress..."

I like the work so far!

The Spectre shares an Experimental TIE Fighter...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, April 4 2017
"Excerpt From The Alliance To Restore The Republic's Intelligence Briefing On The TIE GX1:

Sienar Fleet Systems latest TIE (Twin Ion Engine) Fighter variant, the GX1 (Gunship Experimental) is primarily a ground attack craft carrying enough firepower to decimate an entire battalion. Besides the standard L-s1 laser cannons found on virtually all TIE variants, the TIE GX1 also sports a carbonite cooled 6 barreled Mag-Pro cannon capable of firing durostreel pellets at nearly the speed of light, two proton torpedo tubes (located directly underneath the laser cannons) each with an internal 12-round magazine and a pair of concussion missile launchers with 3-round capacity carried one under each solar panel wing.

This project came about as a way to utilize the "Rogue One" TIE Striker vehicle I picked up on clearance at Walmart after I ripped out the ridiculous Nerf launcher leaving a gaping hole in the front of the craft. I built the Mag-Pro out of a piece of a "Clone Wars" spring loaded missile launcher (sadly the only one I had of this design) and a connector from one of the old "Robotix" building sets. It fits perfectly where the Nerf launcher once resided. After removing the Nerf dart storage racks from under the wings, I modified a pair of "Dino-Riders" missile pods to fit on the Nerf rack posts.

I wanted to have the Star Wars equivalent of the A-10 Warthog, one of my all time favorite military aircraft and the TIE-GX1 fits that role to a t."

Ron Hembling completes his Endor Assault Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, April 3 2017
"Hi All,

Recipe

Scout - is from Hasbro's BS 6" line and has had the joints glued and puttied up and then he was painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.

Base - is made from Bandai stands that come with the kit and then foam was added to the top and then a balsa wood frame was added.

The tree trunk I got from the yard and the smaller trees are from Woodland Scenics. The small ferns are from MIG and the grass tufts are from miniNatur, I used 1:1 scale fake ferns for the large ferns and cut the end off and used them.

The smaller ground plants as well as the water plants are from JoeFixit Studios, I used Woodland Scenics Realistic Water for the water itself and once dry I mixed a little Vallejo German Camo Medium Brown with some Realistic water to do the muddy water effects.

The moss on the trunk was done by mixing spakfilla x 1 tablespoon and fine sand x 1/2 teaspoon and mixed it with some PVA glue and light green paint and added it to the trunk.

Ron"

The windows have been cut out and the top layer card has been removed from underneath windows. Using a wire brush, I ran the brush straight down the foam under one of the windows. I'm trying to give the impression of a wood, not too sure that it will work or I might turn it to concrete but it's still early days."

"Hi All,

While the Scout Trooper Endor dio water section has been drying I started on another 2 in 1 dio and this one is a Tatooine one.

The base is foam board and balsa wood and has balsa frame underneath. The walls are also done with foam board and will have a spakfilla endering before teh sand ground work goes down.

The moisture evaporator is almost done and has been painted and weathered before going on the base as it is easier to paint it before adding it to the base. I am just waiting for more plastic to arrive tomorrow so I can complete the top by adding the little flaps that they have.

The rest of the evaporator was made using plumbers PVC pipe connections, plastic card and tube, 1/35 and 1/72 scale parts.

-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, April 2 2017
"What happens when I go into PetSmart to get something for my cats?

I also walk out with $80 in resin diorama parts from their fish and reptile sections...

These pieces are made from a heavy resin and are prepainted well enough that I will only have to make minor touch ups to them for them to be useful in my dioramas.

Green stone environment with the always awesome Boss Fight Studio "Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S" 3.75" figures.

Desert environment with the always awesome Boss Fight Studio "Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S" 3.75" figures."

Now that is one cool way to get some diorama stuff. Don't forget to be good to your pets too folks!

Dan says to head to Barnes and Noble!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, April 1 2017
"I stopped at Barnes & Noble after work and found these awesome Bandai "Figure Rise Effects" Aura Effect sets for only $9.95 each!

I grabbed all 3 that they had (2 Yellow and 1 Blue set). They ordered a second Blue set for me and it will be ready for pick up at the store in 3-7 business days (they will email me when it comes in).

I really like these Bandai "Figure Rise Effect" Aura Effect bases, especially the Blue one. I hope they do additional colors (green would be AWESOME!).

The Aura splash is made from a very similar rigid plastic to the canopy pieces from fighter jet models or model car windshields so be very careful not to crack them when removing them from their sprue (I actually cut them free instead of pulling).

The lightning pieces are flexible vinyl very similar to the lightning effects from action figures but are heavier.

As these are intended for use with Bandai's 7" figures, they are quite large compared to 3.75" figures but that makes them even better since with careful arrangement inside the Aurora, you could fit a small group of characters instead of just one 7" figure."

I also just checked online and you can now get them for the same price there. Here are your links:

Ron Hembling shows us some water work magic...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, April 1 2017
"Hi All,

I have poured the water for the dio using Woodland Scenics realistic water and will have to let itsit for about 48 hrs for it to dry. Once it dries that misty white will turn clear and look like water.

Ron"

Now that looks pretty daggone rad if you ask me! Ron is always pulling off some great effects.

OC47150 shares more great customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, April 1 2017
"A couple of Rogue One customs for a Friday.

The first one is a Rebel commando I created for a customs contest on another site. Sgt. Zayne Dremine is a pathfinder whose used to being first-in, last out on Rebellion missions. When he heard about the Scarif mission, he immediately volunteered even though he knew it was a suicide mission.

When this contest was first announced, I consulted the RO Visual Guide and trading cards, etc... for inspiration. After the research, I kept coming back to my original idea based on a WWII British paratrooper/commando. Someone who was rough and tumble.

Recipe: I used the arctic combat Snake Eyes with the hood removed. The torso is painted and dry-brushed multiple colors of green, brown and tan. Wanted to capture the look of the British Dennison smock. The legs are painted/dry-brushed brown and tan.

The head, helmet, rifle and backpack are from the Endor Rebel commando that came with the '07 tin set. Love the head sculpt, and couldn't find another that captured the essence of RO as well as this one.

The bandoleer is from IG-88.

The mines tucked under his arm are from a GI Joe set."

Nice looking custom if you ask me!
