Looks pretty spot on to me. Ron sure is knocking the ball out of the park this month!

Ron Hembling finishes latest dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 30 2017
"Hi All,

Completed this R2D2 and R5D4, 2 in 1 dio this morning.

Recipe

Droids - are from Bandai and built staright out of the box and they were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.

Bases - are done using balsa wood and the sand is a mix of spakfilla/sand/paint/PVA glue and then I roughly sanded the bases so that the mix would adhere.

Ron"

They sure look nice to me!

Custom Creator starts new dio...

"Spending over 10 years in local bands, one thing that always sticks in my head was the back alley load in area of a local club that is long gone. Although this will not be a replication of that exact load in door, it will be a tribute to all the band's that have spent many nights lugging gear though always seemingly wet, damp, back alley doors..."

He is calling this one Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

Ron Hembling finishes his Shore Trooper with Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 29 2017
"Hi All,

Recipe

Trooper - is from Bandai and was built straight out of the box and it was painted and weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks.

Base - is two stands that come with the Bandai figures and I used balsa wood for the edges. The concrete was done using thin cardboard from and cereal box and it was lightly sanded and then painted and weathered.

The equipment was made using plumbers PVC screw connections and lids from yogurt squeeze tubes and fabric softer bottle lid. The rest of the materials were done using different types of plastic card and tubes.

Ron"

Now that is one awesome BDay present Ron!

Dan "The Spectre" Kosa shares re purposed vehicle...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 29 2017
"I picked up 4 of the "Miles From Tomorrowland" Mission Rover vehicles on clearance for $11.98 each (down from $39.99). I know a lot of customizers have been buying the spaceships from this line to make custom "G.I.Joe" and other vehicles, but I always felt that the line's rounded, retro look clashed with the aesthetics of my Universe so I never picked up any of them.

The Mission Rover, however, is far more realistic looking than anything else in the line and would make for a great workhorse vehicle after some modifications and a complete repaint.

3.75" figure in cab. You can see that there is room underneath the figure's butt to build up a chair. I could possibly fit a second seated figure behind the driver but I have to see."

Looks like it might be time to head to Target folks. Dan is off with another great idea!

JDeck makes another Snake Eater...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 28 2017
"I made my final member of the Snake eater team. Nightfox, he's a character Hasbro created for the Pursuit of cobra line, he came with a couple of different vehicles. His filecard is really vague, he's a navy seal, and it seems he was a desert specialist. My version is a Seal, driver and demolitions expert, including underwater demolitions in jungle Tigers tripe fatigues."

I really enjoy his forays into the 3D Printed World. He has really made it almost idiot proof for the rest of us to learn through his own trials and tribulations. He is really printing out some great stuff.

I do think this is the wave of the future and we had all better get on-board!

Ron Hembling shows us his birthday present...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 27 2017
"Hi All,

The wife got me four Bandai Shoretrooper kits for my bday and I decided to start on them. The first one is articulated and will be a Captain, I painted the colours instead of using the decals and painted the paints and boots as well.

The only decals I did use was the one on the helmet and the one on his chest plate just below the blue section on his left side. All I need to do now is weather him and make a base for him.

Ron"

Yepper, the paint looks so much better than the decals.

Starchaser creates a Female Rebel Pilot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 27 2017
"It has been a while since I posted anything. The Starchaser household is in a season where life is just very full. I had an idea for a quick headswap to beef up the ranks of the female Rebels.

Zal Dinnes: a member of the Tierfon Yellow Aces reassigned to Red Squadron as Red Eight."

She looks great to me! And I know how busy a household can get, I am right there myself now!

OC47150 shares more great customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 27 2017
"First up tonight is a SA Kanan Jarus in stormtrooper disguise. Bought a spare Kanan on sale and had an extra stormie lying around so I put both to use.

This next one I tossed together just last night. I won't take credit for the ideas; I saw someone else customize this figure recently and it gave me the idea. I attended a toy show earlier this month and found a spare Dash in the $1 box and used one of my extra Rebel pilots to make Dash Rendar, Rebel pilot at the battle of Hoth."

Both look pretty good and there is more to see than that when you click in.

Panther starts up a Gotham Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 27 2017
"Update!

I cut the 1st floor windows out, I also carefully removed the top lay of card from the board from around the windows. Using my 2x1 piece of lego, I started to press the Lego into the card to simulate brick work.

It's not much of an update but believe me that it was a couple of hours work."

Looks like he is off to a good start!

Hemble finishes his Ben vs. Vader Mini-Dio...

I knew Ron would bring these home well. I can't wait to see what he did with the other one too.

JDeck finishes his V.A.M.P. Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 26 2017
"I pretty much finished most of the V.A.M.P. I used the hood grill, snorkel intake/exhaust, headlights from the Maisto Humvee. The wheels/tires are from the Maisto hummer hx. I added the .50 cal., cause every vehicle needs a 50. I put a camo/cargo net on the back, made of the fishnet stocking used for the paint job. It can be lowered or raised, for 2 different looks. I'll share more details as I get them. I still need to finish the squad of Joes that goes with it."

Now that turned out sweet!

Dan shares great A.C. Moore and Michaels to his customizing stores...

"My Safari Ltd. Scores from Michaels and A.C.Moore thanks to 55% + 60% off coupons!

I hit the fairy village fantasy diorama fodder motherload today between A.C.Moore, Michaels and Tuesday Morning!

Everything but the chairs on the green cards from Tuesday Morning were 50% off. Some of the bagged/carded items from A.C.Moore are damaged but they are an easy fix with Krazy Glue and I got them for an additional 50% off (except for the gazing ball with the busted column which was marked down to $1!)."

Like I said, Dan shows us all how to be thrifty customizers!

Darth Streams shares 3D Printing Advice...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 26 2017
"Lastly for my update I wanted to share some of my learnings about 3d printing. The higher your build height the quicker the print will go and the lower the quality. Originally I was printing at super high quality about 0.04mm build height. This still gives the appearance of build lines but to a lesser extent. Anyway for some larger less finely detailed prints you may want to go with a larger build height, but then again come the big build lines. I wanted to smooth out my prints but I was printing in PLA (acetone approach did nothing, but should work with ABS) So for a few prints I made the build height 0.1-0.2mm and then brushed with a clear two part epoxy. You can see the results in the attachments for the force awakens vader helmet I printed."

You can sure see what he means with his before and after paint images when you click on through. Good stuff Darth Streams!

Darth Streams shares great McDees Crossover...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 26 2017
"Grimace the hutt, bit of pop art, sculpted in sculptris, 3d printed, painted with some fancy glitter and pearl paints, and hit with a high gloss varnish. I have another I printed, then smoothed out with epoxy, this one was not smoothed out. Card art took me a few hours to do, but I'm happy with it."

I think it looks pretty daggone awesome from the printing, painting, box art, etc!

Dan "The Spectre" Kosa shares more great ideas...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 25 2017
"As most of you know, I tend to think outside of the box when it comes to my hobby. I often go beyond the usual action figure lines looking for inspiration and potential fodder.

Today at K-Mart I found this set of faux stone borders in their garden section.

In each box you get 8 wall sections, one "male" endcap, one "female" endcap and an assortment of long and short stakes to fasten them into your lawn.

This set was only $24 and well worth it. You will need to trim off flash along all of the edges, fill the round openings for the stakes and do a repaint for total realism, but any project requires some manual labor."

Dan is great at finding ways to improve our hobby!

Dan finds more good deals at Wal-Mart!
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 25 2017
"The Wal-Mart "Star Wars" rollbacks continue!

All "Black Series" figures (both scales - 3.75" and 6") are 50% off.

I picked up 4 Jyn Erso figures for future custom projects. You cannot beat a fully articulated female base figure for $5.86 nowadays. Also, she has one of the best accessories I have ever seen at this scale: a modular weapon that goes from a pistol to a sniper rifle. The figure does not look like Felicity Jones at all but rather more like Noomi Rapace from "Prometheus" which is pretty cool."

Dan is in the zone!

Ron Hembling starts two small dios...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, March 24 2017
"Hi All,

Here are two 1:48 scale WIP dio's I'm doing at the same time.

One is Vader and Kenobi fighting on the DS and the other is a Sandtrooper Patrol with a dewback.

All figures are from the Star Wars game Imperial assualt and the only mods I did were to the sandtroopers.

The trooper on the dewback has had his lefy arm repositioned so he is looking thru the bino and I removed the bent prodder and replaced it with a length of plastic.

The sanding trooper also upper torso comes with the dewback set and I opted for him to be standing and got another set of legs and repositioned them so that one leg is up on a stone.

The Vader and Kenobi figures will be left as they are but removed from their bases. The back wall design is done by using a pencil and a ruler and lightly pushing into the foam.

Ron"

He is gonna get into the fine detail here!

Foxtrot Delta improves the original...

Wal-Mart reduces prices on U-Wing and TIE Stryker!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, March 24 2017
"I don't know if everyone is aware of it or not, but Walmart has the "Rogue One" U-Wing and TIE Striker 3.75" scale vehicles on rollback pricing down to $19.87 (down from around $50 and $40 respectively). I do not know if this is a permanent price reduction or not.

I picked up the 2 vehicles on the way home from work today.

If anyone was holding out on buying them or just want more, now is the time to get them!"

I agree, now is the time!

I might just paint it or add the Humvee lights. No clue what im going to do at the moment, but the paint looks cool."

I am really liking this paint job.

Custom Creator makes a new POP Dio Shelf...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 22 2017
"I've been thinking of making a wooden shelf for my Pop Vinyls at work. After looking up some woodworking methods, I decided to just scrap it and make it of foam. This will hold about 10 Pops. Just the start so far. Will add more rubble. Also, my farewell to green foam. Pink from now on.

Going to be a bit vanilla as I have Pops from every genre on my desk, so I don't want to make it too specific. Going for a semblance of a parking garage or something destroyed."

I think this will look fantastic when populated!

Ron Hembling adds more to his Hoth Turret Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 22 2017
"Hi All,

The dio is 80% complete I just need to weather the generator and then do the snow. The Generator was made using plastic sheet, plastic tube and 1/35th tank parts. The power cords are old pieces of an old aircon which I used the cord.

The Snowtrooper has had the joints glued and covered and I added tissue paper to the cloth area's of the uniform. I need to paint and weather the trooper and once the snow is done attach him

Ron Hembling creates a new project waiting for the paint to dry...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 20 2017
"Hi All,

While paint is drying on the Hoth turret I decided to make a small Endor dio.

Recipe

Scout Troopers - are from the Star Wars Command Endor Attack figure set and are roughly 1/35th scale and were painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Base is a Bandai Snow speeder stand with balsa wood sides, I used a branch I found in the back yard and the moss on the tree is some model railway grass.

The dirt is a mix of spakfilla, dirt and a little bit of mulch and mixed together and while mixing I added a little water and some dark brown paint. Once the mix was done a just started spreading it over the base.

The small grass tufts and the thicker brush are from miniNatur, The ferns are from MIGS and the small tree's are from Woodland Scenics.

Ron"

He does more in between coats of paint than most of us do all month!

Fiala Fernbrugg is back with a new Clone Trooper...

"Airborne Clonetrooper

Inspired by the great concept art mady by jubjubjedi on deviantart: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Star-Wars-Clonetrooper-concept-43871253

Airborne forces are military units, usually light infantry, set up to be moved by aircraft and "dropped" into battle, typically by parachute. Thus, they can be placed behind enemy lines, and have the capability to deploy almost anywhere with little warning. The formations are limited only by the number and size of their aircraft, so given enough capacity a huge force can appear "out of nowhere" in minutes, an action referred to as vertical envelopment. [wikipedia]

My special thanks goes to my good friend Philipp (Legion078) for the incredibly good resin cast phase II clonetrooper helmet."

Looks spot on to me!

JDeck tries out a Kryptek Paint Job...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 20 2017
"I had the idea to do a snake skin camouflage pattern, similar to the kryptek type. I'm practicing on a donor humvee, if successful I'll use it on my GI JOE VAMP.

First I spray painted a basic woodland camouflage pattern using dark green, light green, tan and black. Then I stretched a fishnet stocking over the humvee into a non uniform pattern. Finally I sprayed another woodland pattern over the stocking. Then after its dry remove the stocking. Instant snake skin camo.

I might practice a little more on another donor car. I think I'll use brown instead of the light green or black, one of the two. Meybe make a template mask. But it looks cool."

I think it turned out pretty nice too.

-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 18 2017
"Hi All,

Here are the Death Troopers 2 in 1 dio please enjoy.

Recipe

Death Troopers - The Figures are from Bandai and are built straight out of the box and were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastels.

Base - are the stands that come with the kits, I used balsa wood for the sides and then used plastic card for the tarmac and the crates are made using resin pieces from a 1/35 40ft container set and the sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand, and the tufts of grass are from Army Painter.

Ron"

What can I say, he knows his stuff folks!

Ron Hembling starts new project...

"Hi All,

While I'm waiting for materials to arrive for the Hoth Turret dio I decided to start another 2 in 1 dio and this time it Deathtroopers on Scarif.

The Figures are from Bandai and are built straight out of the box and the base is the stands that come with the kits. I used balsa wood for the sides and then used plastic card for the tarmac and the crates are made using resin pieces from a 1/35 container set.

The sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand, next up will be weather the base and the crates and add a little weathering to the figures.

Ron"

He sure doesn't let the grass grow under his feet! Looking good already Ron!

JDeck continues his G.I. JOE kick...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, March 17 2017
"Continuing my GI JOE kick, I made a custom Recondo. I wanted an updated version from the original, but I didn't really like the Pursuit of cobra version. I just put the POC Recondo head arms, on a repainted 50th Spirit Iron-Knife. I tried doing a modernized golden zig zag tiger stripe pattern on the pants. He's posing in front of my WIP project "Snake-eater" V.A.M.P MK.2.

For my GI JOE customs, I like to imagine them in the near future, 2025-2030. I think tiger stripes will make a comeback. Universal camouflage pattern and digital will be a thing of the past. I'm thinking for the truck to do a Kryptek Snake skin camo. I'll get into that later in my custom vehicle section."

Looks pretty spot on to me with a ton of articulation. Of course there is one figure line that never lost its articulation from what I can tell!

"Hutt Enforcers

'Cuz I got mooks like Jabba!

Well, I don't know if these guys work for Jabba specifically (it's a big galaxy), but they'd blend in pretty well with his band of cutthroats.

The Nikto Soldier has 14 points of articulation. Lots of fodder body parts (mostly Star Wars, with a little bit of Avatar). He started as a Rebel soldier, back in the days before Rogue One came out. I guess he's turned to a life of crime since then.

The Weequay Executioner was a lot of fun. A pretty simple head, hands, and feet swap with drybrush painting. I literally plopped Sora Bulq's head right on a Quarren soldier's body, and I was halfway there. Only 12 POA... no knees. But when all you gotta do is stand around and look tough, who needs 'em?"

They sure look good to me!

EE announces Exclusive
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 14 2017
"We’re proud to announce our Exclusive Pop! Vinyl!

FU14012EE - Wonder Woman Movie Diana Prince Pop! Vinyl Figure - Entertainment Earth Exclusive

Entertainment Earth Exclusive!
Wonder. Power. Courage.
2017's Wonder Woman in disguise!
Exclusive Diana Prince outfit!

Entertainment Earth Exclusive! She's no ordinary secretary! From 2017's Wonder Woman film, actress Gal Gadot picks up the mantle of Amazonian Princess. This exclusive Wonder Woman Movie Diana Prince Pop! Vinyl Figure features Diana Prince wearing her civilian disguise. She comes armed with a removable shield, just in case the day needs saving! Measuring about 3 3/4-inches tall, the Wonder Woman Movie Diana Prince Pop! Vinyl Figure comes packaged in a window display box. Don't miss it!

This is a new, full-body mold/sculpt, completely distinguishable as different from any of the other Wonder Woman Pop! Vinyls being released at this time. She is wearing the gray coat and dark hat of Diana Prince as seen at about minute 1:18 of this trailer. In the scene, she stops a bullet with her vambraces. Similarly, in this Pop! Vinyl, Wonder Woman’s silver and gold vambraces can been seen at her wrists, extending beyond her coat sleeves, a nice subtle detail indicating her true identity. While there have been many Wonder Woman Pop! Vinyls, this is the ONLY Diana Prince Pop! Vinyl that has ever been made. And it has a cool, rare feature for Pop! Vinyls—her shield is removable! Starting at about minute 2:08 of this trailer, you can see her in this outfit with her shield.

Gal Godot’s Wonder Woman will be in 2 movies this year - the Wonder Woman movie opening June 2 AND The Justice League Movie opening November 2.

Item should be arriving just in the nick of time to be in stock for the movie’s release in June.

Price: $12.99

Ron Hembling updates us on his Hoth Turret Project...

Did some work on the turret and I have started using foam board for the bottom section of the turret and the turret it self.

I have given the turret edges a angle to it and I need to now fill and sand it and also the bottom section and then start adding the details.

I also removed the soft plastic skirt section to add a cloth one and also sanded the top of the helmet so it actually more rounded."

I sure do like his Hoth Projects. A Lot!

I'm only missing one figure now...Luke (of course). Currently sourcing some material, hoping to have it done soon...so I can then call TFA "done" and move on to other things....already preparing for the 40th anniversary of SW at the moment, for example..."

Ron Hembling finishes Jedha Patrol Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 11 2017
"Hi All,

New 2 in 1 Jedha Patrol dio completed.

Recipe

Troopers - are from Bandai and built straight out of the box and have the Bandai Death Trooper pauldrons added to them.

The orange pauldron trooper's back pack was made using a harness section from the Bandai Sandtrooper and the middle section was done using plastic card and plastic tube. The roll and haver sack are made using cloth and then straps are modelers tape and the buckles are some 1/35 resin pieces from a 40ft container.

The white pauldron trooper's pack was also made using the Bnadai Sandtrooper harness and then I used plastic card, 1/35 WW2 Sherman tank peice, BS 6" farm boy Luke's bino's, fly screen and other pieces from the Bandai Sandtrooper and Deathtrooper.

The bases were made using the stands that come with the figure kits and then balsa wood was used for the sides. The back walls were made using foam board and high density foam, I ripped off pieces of high density foam to simulate wear and tear and then used a pen to make the stones.

Once the stones were drawn I used spakilla for the walls and the sand. The machinery is some old plumber PVC pipe connection I had and a deodorant lid a asthma spray and parts form the Sandtrooper weapons.

Once everything was done the figures and base were weathered using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks."

What can I say other than Ron is the thing of customs magic!

Gold Leader One is back with new pilots...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 11 2017
"Here are 2 more custom pilots, this time going back to the movies. The first is Snowspeeder pilot Hobbie (and super-articulated as well). I did have a previous Snowspeeder Hobbie, but it wasn't super-articulated. With me learning to use a dremel, I wanted to make a proper Snowspeeder Hobbie, as the one released was in his X-wing gear (but had the head cap/covering that a Snowspeeder pilot has). The second figure is a Sullustan pilot from a deleted scene in Return of the Jedi."

He definitely has a nice group of pilots!

Legion078 revisits BB-8 one more time...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 11 2017
"Today I revisited BB-8 once again. This time I used Citadel's Shade "Nuln Oil" to highlight all the details especially the depth of BB's mold! I think I have to correct my previous statement:

This shade gives your custom the last touch after you already applied pigments to weather it.
Using this shade as very last step does make a difference...

This time I used a very thin brush to spread the shade within the surface's gaps.

So since BB-8 is now finally done he joined the 212th Attack Battalion as Tactical Support Droid!
I think he looks just perfect next to Clone Troopers of the 212th! The Force Awakens is just...not canon to me anyway - so I leave it like that!

Looks like I have to do some custom weapons, soon...

Have a great weekend guys!"

You too Legion078! You too!

Stocos28 is back with a great Sith Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 11 2017
"Here are my Darth Bane(inspired by Stonox's version from awhile Back), Visas Marr & Darth Vindican customs. For Bane I used a gi joe torso, added the Chest Obalisks from the evo Bane and sculpted the rest of the orbalisks including the ones on the forearms. Time consuming but well worth it! I then made a mold of the torso and casted it. On the Revan I modded the head to look closer to his actual mask. I sculpted over the chest and the metal rings & sewed the skirt and cape and added a wire in the cape so it can be posed. For Visas the body is Luminara. I used a bald female head and sculpted the veil. I also used the sewing machine and made that skirt. Darth Vindican's head is a modified MU Red skull, I added ears & the face tendrils. Sewed the skirt and did some sculpting over a Starkiller torso. I included Links at the bottom for anyone interested."

Wow, those are some finely crafted Sith!

Stronox is back with a Sith Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 11 2017
"Haven't had much in the way of Star Wars to show recently...This is some fix up's to the 6 inch scale Darth Revan...I removed the plastic hood altogether which really improves this figure thus allowing to move the shoulders more and the head. Then, I created a custom fitted robe/hood for him per the client's wishes and added soft goods to the plastic parts of the tunic. The robe has a wired seam line, thus allowing for some dramatic posing. I also detailed him with some washes and made my usual saber hilt mods so they can store on the belt. As always, thanks for taking a look at my work guys!"

Yepper, much better than the version by Hasbro!

"Hi All,

Little more work done on the Jedha Patrol dio
. I covered the walls using a mix of spakfilla and sand and added a little paint to the mix as it is easier to piant.

The machinery were built using a plumber PVC pipe connection and a deodorant spary lid. The small pieces are from the Bandai sandtrooper back pack and the ends sections are from the left over connection sprue.

The other machinery is a asthma spray container with the muzzle of the T-21 light repeating blaster from the Bandai sandtrooper kit. The longer piece is barrels from the same sandtrooper kit.

Gold Leader One is back with a new Custom Rebel Pilot...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 8 2017
"Here's another quick custom I did tonight. Going back to the original Rogue Squadron video game, this is Zev Senesca in X-wing gear. Zev was a member of Rogue Squadron in between ANH up until his death in ESB (old canon). Zev is the only Snowspeeder pilot released not to have the head cap/covering found on other Snowspeeder pilots. Because of that, I wanted to make him a regular X-wing pilot, basing his appearance from the Rogue Squadron game."

Ron Hembling starts a Jedha Patrol Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 7 2017
"Hi All,

WIP of the next 2 in 1 dio will be Stormtrooper's Jedha Patrol. The bases have been made using foam board, high denisty foam and balsa.

The first Jedha Trooper is from Bandai and built straight out of the box and the pauldron is from the Bandai Deathtrooper kit. The back pack was made using the Bandai Sandtrooper back pack. I removed the connectors from the harness and then made the cylinders using plastic tube.

The roll and haver sack were made using some old pieces of cloth and the straps are done using tape and the buckles are from some 1/35th scale resin container doors and the little antenna was made using some thin wire.

Ron"

Gold Leader One swaps out the Astro Unit on a Y-Wing...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 7 2017
"How to change the astromech on the 30th Anniversary Y-wing without dremeling the molded-in astromech

Going through some old posts on Rebelscum, I've seen a few members dremel out the droid on this Y-wing. It was done very well and I wanted to give it a go, having just bought a dremel myself. I've got some practice under my belt, I've already been turning old figure heads into a ball-joint neck. I bought a used one on ebay, just the body of the ship, no engine parts for real cheap. I couldn't get the cuts right, the dremel kept skipping and would sometimes hit other parts of the ship. I just didn't feel comfortable doing it on the one I had. You could see afterwards all the cuts from the dremel, it would have looked obvious."

Oh yeah, worked out great! Click on through to see his full process.

Ron Hembling creates an R2 and C3PO connect a dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 6 2017
"Hi All,

Did another 2 in 1 dio this time C-3PO & R2-D2. The figures are both from Bandai and built straight out of the box and they were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.

The base is the stands that come with the kits and I used balsa wood for the edges. The small moisture vaporator and storage unit were done by using soft drink lids, charger cords, plastic card and deodorant lids.

The sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand and once dry the base was painted and weathered using Vallejo Piants and Pastel Chalks

-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 6 2017
"Here is another custom pilot, this time one from the movies and not a video game. This is Telsij, who flew a Y-wing with Gray Squadron during the Battle of Endor. In old canon, he was a Lt. and flew as Gray Two. In new canon, his rank and callsign have not been established, but I have noticed a lot of old canon callsigns/squadron names are being carried over. I did the usual boil and pop, then cut out the neck post and dremeled the neck out. I didn't have to do any modification to the neck post, I was able to get the head to fit properly."

Ron Hembling starts Han/Chewie connect a dios...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 1 2017
"Hi All,

Almost done with these two quick dios, I repainted Han and Chewie BS 6" and left the articulation on them, the bases are form Bandai with balsa wood sides and the foot plating is some old rubber 1/35th scale WW2 German Panther tracks and the bases are made so they can stand aloone your together.

The tubes are just some old wiring I had in the parts box and the sand is a mix of spakfilla and sand. I just need to add weathering to the base and I will have my usual pics tomorrow

Ron"

I swear Ron does at least one new project a day! His work is always so fantastic too!

-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 1 2017
"Over the past weekend I finished the repaint of BB-8. I have watched J.J.'s masterpiece only 5 times so far and please correct me if I am wrong, but I remember BB-8 had a different, more intense shade of orange.

First, I wasn't sure which of the two colors to use, but then I chose Citadel's Layer "Troll Slayer Orange". I recall that Jakks Pacific used a similar orange for their BB-8..."
