Clonehead shows us more of his Granstand Kit...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 28 2020
"I did place a few pieces more in preparation for painting.

I am going to spray the majority of it white with green seats and trim. I’ll paint those two doors to the refreshment booth a different color, blue possibly, with green trim, and I may prop one of em open.

I would like to keep the finely etched board detail lines on those outer vertical and horizontal surfaces so, I’m dusting off the airbrush for this event. I’ll need some luck there as I am way out of practice."

It even has a place for the vendors booth in the back. He has also populated it a bit to show the size spectators need to be. It is gonna work out nice! Clonehead also worked on some signs for his Track Diorama too.

Clonehead shows us a Grandstand Kit...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 27 2020
"Back in the day, a decade or more ago, you could find some slot car track buildings in 1/32 scale. Grandstands, Marshall offices, ticket booths, mostly stuff from the U.K. it’s all rare and hard to find now. Some more modern stuff has been released by carrera but it has more of a modern euro airport feel to it and for my track, I was wanting something a little more down to earth like what you would see at a county or state fair in the States somewhere."

I like it. Also you will want to check out the new grassy areas Clint has added to his Track Diorama.

The Mada Jawa shares his thoughts on the Coronavirus...

Clonehead lights up his Track Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 26 2020
"I had started the pit row fence line rebuild yesterday. I started by hot gluing each section to the track, and to each other at the wall section tops. I still need to clean up my glue mess. Then, I troubleshot all of the section lamps, replaced a couple, and began the long task of powering the twelve lamps in a configuration that they seemed to like so all lamps would illuminate."

He has since had a bit of a setback, but look for more lightwork to continue.

RCW Creations shares a diorama update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 25 2020
"Painted the walls of the Castle Room, gave the walls a base coat of light grey. When it had dried I added blue to the grey mixture, then given the walls a second coat.

The two doors where undercoated with Burnt Umber, base coated with Games Workshops Dryad Bark, shaded with Agrax Earth shade and then layered with Gorthor Brown. The metal of the door was painted Balthasar Gold, shaded with Agrax and then layered with Sycorax bronze."

He is working on eight new dioramas and man is he really going to town!

"This one has been a project I’ve wanted to tackle for ages. Once I saw episode 2 of The Mandalorian, it became a red hot necessity to make it. I considered getting the Disney Exclusive Sandcrawler (since making one from scratch was probably going to equal out to the same price when factoring in styrene, materials, and time), but I wanted something that had SCALE...and making my own was too much of a good time to pass up."

What remains to be done is the portal and to paint the outside of the diorama in black."

Ron Hembling shares new Tatooine Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 21 2020
"Hi All,

"Look Sir, Droids!" 28mm

Recipe.

Troopers - are from Fantasy Flight Games SW Legion Trooper expansion and I modified the trooper holding the droid part by cutting his hand and rotating it and the droid part is just a piece of thin electrical cable. The trooper looking into the escape pod has had his left hand removed and the hand armour cut and thinned down and added to a Airfix 1:48 scale hand. The escape pod is also from Fantasy Flight Games and was a trade with a member in the Star Wars Legion North Queensland FB group.

Base - is high density foam cut to shape and then a hole was done to allow the pod to sit lower and the I used a mix of spakfilla, sand and Vallejo's Iraqui Sand and applied it to the base. The foot prints and R2's tracks were done using a thin wet brush."

Once again more magic from Hemble!

Little c7 Corvette got his fog lights, as did this pro street Camaro with yellows over the weekend.

Ron Hembling shares a Sandtrooper Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 19 2020
"Hi All,

Imperial Dewback Rider 28mm.
Recipe.

Rider/Dewback - are from Fantasy Flight Games and it comes with multiple weapons options as well but I decided to go with the prodder. The mouth of the dewback comes in the kit opened but I decided the trim down the teeth and tongue and have it closed.

Base - is from an old action figure and the sand is a mix of spakfilla and fine sand with Vallejo's Iraqui Sand mixed in and applied to the base. The large boulder is done from a plaster mold from Woodland Scenics and the small rocks are kitty."

Ron likes his Tatooine like I like my Hoth environment. That rock to sand base for the dio is just awesome. Its great all the way around. Of course it would be, its a Hemble Dio!

Ron Hembling shares a new Star Wars Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 19 2020
"Hi All,

C3PO and R2D2 28mm.

Recipe.

Droids - are from Fantasy Flight Games and they also come with a escape pod but I'm using that for another diorama. 3PO was built straight out of the box and R2 was in the three legged rolling position and I cut the side legs so they became straight and the middle leg I cut down and drilled a bigger hole in the bottle and glued the leg into position.

Base - is from an old action figure and the sand is a mix of spakfilla and fine sand with Vallejo's Iraqui Sand mixed in and applied to the base. The large boulder is done from a plaster mold from Woodland Scenics and the small rocks are kitty litter."

You gotta love good ole 3PO and R2 on Tatooine.

"HURID-327"
painted by Darth Daddy"

Looks pretty awesome to me.

He has really gotten a lot done in just a short amount of time. Wow!

Clonehead fills in some gaps...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 17 2020
"Took it a little further last night. Got the center piece cut and placed and Went as far as making little filler pieces out of scrap shoulder to fill in at two barrel locations and where the pit fence starts. I can patch and paint what’s left and I think I’ll add a warm white light at each spot, illuminating the hazard from down on those patch pieces. I’ll fab up a can shade for them out of shrink tube or something. I did go and spot weld some of the seams where pieces meet with superglue, to keep all surfaces in the same plane where they meet.

I’m so happy with this area that I think I’ll fill in the other large area as well"

He is leaving no detail unresolved and wow does it show it!

Chuckles shares new Star Wars Customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 16 2020

Talk about some great parts use here!

Clonehead lights it up!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 16 2020
"Now about that grand sport, 30 some years later, a race team painted up a C7 Corvette with a deco that paid homage to that particular grand sport.

This one also has great foglight lenses just waiting to be lit up. The light cluster clear overlay is tinted yellow but I’m going to put the oranges in again, so it will go with the grand sport."

I look forward to seeing what he does with it.

Clonehead brings another vintage car to the modern era...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 14 2020
"And now, for more rare and wonderful slot car butchery.

About 10 years ago or so, revell/monogram made
This great line of ready to run decorated slot cars in 1/32 scale. The available cars were limited but all boasted great detail and solid running gear. Models available included this 64 grand sport corvette in a couple of different decos and this one has been sitting on my shelf because for the life of me, I wasn’t sure where I was going to fit the digital chip."

As you will see when you click on throuhg he figured it out and then some!

Chuckles shares a new Star Wars Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 14 2020
"I'm waiting for a bunch of parts for a big custom commission project (my first custom commission project), so I've got Rebel Commandos on my mind.

While test fitting an extra rebel helmet for that project I had a thought, and ended up sacrificing an older custom to make this guy. Mostly its Major Panno, but with added pouches from Marauders (and wherever that big one came from), plus a Nikto head, modified rebel commando helmet, and a modified Marauders WWII gun. Plus some paint and a wash."

He looks great to me. I can't wait to see that commission project!

figure - the body and head are a Capt Kirk and I trimmed down the hair on the head and replaced it with fake fur. The body I had to trim down and cut off the sections of the forearms and calves so that the armour could fit. The trooper armour is from a Bandai Stormtrooper and I removed all the frame work and connection section so that I could get the armour to fit. I added pleather to sections of the armour to give it the feel the armour was falling apart and the horns on the helmet were done using plastic rod.

The waist section was done with pleather and the small bag on he's left hip and he's water bottle were also made from pleather with string added. I added mud/clay to the armour to give him some kind of protection so he couldn't be spotted and that was done using spakfilla, dirt and paint.
The spear and knife are made from skewer sticks with the blades from plastic and the straps from pleather. The fur cape and head piece are fake fur and represent fur from a dead Gorax.

Base - is an old dinosaur base I have had for a while and I covered it spkafilla and then once dry covered it with mulch and dirt. Once dry I then gave it a wash of Vallejo's Chocolate Brown and the ferns I picked up from the craft shop in the fake plant section. The small shrubs and tufts of grass are from MiniNatur and were glued down and the warning posts are made using skewers and skulls from NECA's Predator figure."

Ron just did a bang up job on this one. If you haven't seen who is under the bucket you need to scroll around too!

Clonehead test drives a Porsche...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 12 2020
"Were I a member of one of the few existing slot car forums I know about, they would surely think I was mad. You know, all this alternate tech I’m learning may lead me back to Star Wars one of these days.

My quarry was the Porsche. I have my lights ready and wired in two parallel sets. One to track power and one to the brakes.

I test drove that new dremel 8100 I got to shave off the factory painted on tailight lense bumps on that rear wire frame looking plastic assembly at the cars rear with a simple drum sander bit. Let me tell you, the slow rotation available thanks to this tools slide on power switch made the job go smooth as silk. Better for the little stuff, more control."

Needless to say it is one fantastic job by Clint. Also make note of the dremel stuff and head to your Wal-Mart Clearance Aisle. Clint found one great deal on a lithium cordless dremel with speed control.

Elias is back with a great Ziro...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 12 2020
"Around the same time Dad made his first version, Instagram user @DarthZiro made a version also. Dad was always a big fan of his sculpt. Early last year during a conversation they were having, he offered to send us a cast of his original sculpt. All we needed to do was fill some holes made from air bubbles that got trapped in his mold during the casting process with some Aves Fixit and then paint him once he dried. Since Dad made Ziro twice already, I asked if I could make him this time around.

Clonehead shows its about the fine details...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 11 2020
"I actually thought the white wheels looked good on this model but, what are you gonna do? It needed to look fairly factory to go with the others.

Got one more rare Torino that needs a chassis swap but don’t have the donor car yet. Got another Torino in current production that I have to replace as I used mine for another chassis swap. Then, my digital livery of Torino’s will be complete

Coming up tomorrow, I have another rare one I want to defile. It’s a 917K again, smaller scale this time."

I thinks its pretty cool that he is unretiring some of these older models and making them work on his modern digital track. Be sure to give his Track Diorama a look too if you haven't!

Ron Hembling adds some dirt!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 11 2020
"Hi All,

Little WIP upgrade on the LEFT BEHIND trooper.

I decided to have the armour covered in mud/clay which is a mix of spakfilla, dirt and light brown paint.

Once the mud/clay was dry it was given a wash of Games Workshop's AGRAX Earthshade and left to dry and then a light drybrush of beige brown was given to it. I also decide to give the helmet a bit of a conversion by adding horns which are teeth from a Boar Wolf and the head and cape is fur from a dead dead Gorax. The spear and knife are made from skewers, pleather and two toy sword from the parts box."

Hard to believe the head sculpt on this is a Kirk folks. Click through and see the build. It is really awesome to see Ron's process.

Moronarama shows us a custom vehicle...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 11 2020
"So I don't do a low of vehicles, but here is my latests ....

Clovit the Rodian Junker and his Scavenger Skiff

It’s a hard life out in the wilds of the Dune Sea, but for a being with a keen eye and a quick speeder there’s money to be made. Clovit had been piloting his skiff in those barren wastes for 12 cycles now and had managed to amass a nice pot of money. You had to be clever. You had to be quicker than the Jawas and meaner than the Sand People. And as long as his skiff stays in the air, he’ll keep at it."

That is just the start of a most excellent backstory and custom vehicle!

Ron Hembling stars a new Star Wars Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 9 2020
"Hi All,

Work in Progress.

Started on a new 1:12 figure which will be articulated and also have a display with it and it will be called LEFT BEHIND.

As you already may have figured out it will be an Imperial trooper left on Endor and has survived over the years.

The armour is from the Bandai Stormtrooper but instead of building the figure I decided to use a Mezco Star Trek Sulu body with the trimmed down to accomandate the armour which I also trimmed down to fit by removing all the interior sections.

The head is a Mezco Captain Kirk head (the smiling one) and I trimmed the hair off and added fake fur to give the look long hair look.

The figure will come with the bearded/long hair and also the helmet."

Wow, ole Kirk looks good as a Stormtrooper!

Vintage spirit of USA body on a newer digital ready frame with chip#2, this time. This is the light array that fried chip #1 last week. RC-1136 adds to his latest custom Wookie...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 2 2020
"Narrowly escaping a Trandoshan raid on his village, the Wookie known as Ralbrahrrr has used his "presumed dead" status to his advantage. He has devoted his life to eliminating the entire race of those responsible for the death of his people. Living in complete solitude, Ralbrahrrr has taught himself focus and patience, often scouting Trandoshan camps weeks before a calculated strike. Using a specialized stealth generator, he is only seen seconds before a kill. This has caused him to become a "boogie-man" in Trandoshan lore. The psychological advantage gives him an edge in combat. His opponents are usually fear-stricken when encountering him.

His bowcaster is only defense; Ralbrahrrr prefers the use of a Ryyk blade, because his prey see him at the moment of their death."

Talk about one nice custom!

Ron Hembling finishes his Ultimate Indy Set...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 2 2020
"Hi All,

Indiana Jones Box/Display complete.
Recipe.

Indy - the body is from Figma and the head is from GlassmanCustoms http://glassmancustoms.com and the clothing was made by a friend on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ageoftoys/.
The pants belt is made using left over fabric in the parts box as was the holster belt and the whip holder. The holster is from the Figma Indiana Jones figure.

The Grail, idol, Sankara Stone and Webley came from the Figma Indy figure. The MP40 and Walther P38 pistol came from Damtoys German Officer and the whip was made using pleather and plastic, the bag was made using pleather for the straps and material for the bag.

The Staff of Ra is made using plastic tube and the medallion was made by shrinking and then printing off the picture and then gluing it to plastic. The maps and Grail Dairy were all shrunk to size and printed off and the crates were made using balsa wood.

Base - is made using high density foam and the I used a pencil to mark out the stone work and then I used a piece of sand stone and pressed it into the foam. All the foliage is from MiniNatur and the moss was done by mixing fine sand with spakfilla and paint then applied."

This is so awesome. Can't you just see this type of treatment applied to your favorite action figure line. I would go nuts if they would ever do something like this for the Star Wars Line.

Chuckles shares a mega-update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 2 2020
"I've been working on some Marauders Contract Ops figures. I like to think of these guys as ISA. Three with Dime Novel Legends heads, and one with a Marauder WWII head. You'll note some boot swapping (one is wearing Marauder WWII Japanese boots). Some also have Bad Mother Tattoos and Customs decals.

The vests have been painted/weathered, some of the vests have non-Marauder glued-on pouches from various other lines, and my favorite thing here is that some of the Marauder gear-mounting-holes have been filled and covered by replacement molle webbing for a more seamless look. (Haven't done the upper back vest-holes because I'm planning assault packs.) Individual pics incoming."

Folks he just has a ton of individual posts and some of the dio too. Just great stuff.
