Starchaser shows us a new Jedi Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 27 2015
"I was looking through the old Tales of the Jedi and the Egyptian look caught my attention. I had this "Merk" figure from the Mini-mates Battle Beasts series with the "hieroglyphics" on the hood. Good base for an avian species Jedi I thought. Then I saw a Clone Wars Ki-Adi-Mundi hanging in a vintage toy shop and thought, "that body is thin enough to be a bird." And voila, Assipter Pernin was born." I love the idea of an Avian Jedi!

"This is my way of honoring the brave soldiers, and jedi who fell during the battle of Bathawui, by bringing their leader Belth Allusis to life. I'll never forget their sacrifice, no matter what Disney has to say about it. Personally I love Gnost Dural's Holorecords, and the way they depict the characters is simply perfection. And for anybody interested here's a link."

"I'm leaving the podracers behind for a bit here - still haven't finished the last of the four, but I've been working on a few of my own created characters in the meantime. (Basically a kit bash of Roron Corobb and TBS Ree Yees...) First up, an Ithorian explorer. He is an ex-academic who decided to explore the unknown regions on his own rather than reading of the discoveries of others." He also some nice droid customs including a neat paint effect on the eyes of one.

I am really like Ben Alius' wooden creations...

His son wanted a Star Wars Action Figure Collection, but after seeing the exorbitant prices (trust me we can all associate there right!) he decided he would experiment with creating some wooden action figures and vehicles. The result has been one of the cutest renditions of Star Wars Customs I can remember in awhile. That AT-ST looks fantastic!

Its a Marvel Update from Most Wanted Collectibles!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 25 2015
"A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Kotobukiya's hit Marvel Comics ARTFX+ series has brought fans Avengers straight out of the comics, and now it turns to the big screen with the upcoming mega-blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron. Two mighty characters start the new collection headlined by the massive HULKBUSTER IRON MAN! A fan-favorite design from the comics that's coming in the Avengers sequel, the Hulkbuster is a specially-designed upgrade to the Iron Man armor created by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to combat the Hulk if he should go berserk.

Classified as the Iron Man Mark 44 armor, the Hulkbuster suit really tears it up! Based on its appearance in the film, the huge armor looks as if it leapt straight off the screen. Iron Man strides forward to grapple with the green-skinned Avenger, leg pistons cranking and his right arm stretching out to make contact. While the resemblance to the classic Iron Man armor is readily apparent (especially in the bright metallic red and gold color scheme), the Hulkbuster takes it to a whole new level with a towering frame, thick armor plating, and a stout shape. Best of all, that huge shape means a ton of surface area for amazing sculpting featuring all of the technological details of the Iron Man suit including surface armor, interior electronics, layered components, repulsor units, integrated weaponry, and much more!

Sculpted by the same master artist who's responsible for the Avengers Marvel Now series, Junnosuke Abe (RESTORE), Hulkbuster Iron Man stands an incredible 11 ½ inches tall (in the ARTFX+ 1/10th scale) to tower over his allies and enemies alike. Stark's latest and greatest battle suit lumbers across a brick-like display base, punishing the ground with its terrible weight. The Hulkbuster is one of the most impressive display pieces you'll ever own and it even pairs with the new Avengers: Age of Ultron Hulk ARTFX+ statue to make a fierce battle scene!"

New Han Solo photos released!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 25 2015
"From Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, relive your favorite moments leading up to the Battle of Hoth with the Sideshow Collectibles Captain Han Solo - Hoth Sixth Scale Figure.

On the run and with a price on his head, the intergalactic smuggler Han Solo joins the Rebel Alliance at their remote secret location on Hoth, Echo Base. Dressed for the planet's notorious sub-zero climate, Solo is fitted in an authentically replicated blue quilted parka, complete with rank insignia and fur-trimmed hood. Two scarves, a cap and goggles frame the lifelike portrait which perfectly captures actor Harrison Ford in the role that made him a star - and for additional display options, swap in the portrait without headgear, depicting Han as he appears inside the base.

Though hiding and freezing on the wretched ice cube doesn't sit well with the smuggler's disposition, when Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker goes missing during a routine patrol, Solo has no choice but to leap onto the back of an ill-fated tauntaun and go out after him. Fully equipped with a blaster pistol, macrobinoculars, droid caller, and portable life scanner, he's willing to risk everything on a rescue mission to find his friend and save the day."

"This is just a quick modification that you can make to Zeb's Bo-Rifle if you have a drill, krazy glue, and some small rare earth magnets on hand. Just drill two small holes in to the triangles on the back of the Zeb action figure and two more into Zeb's Bo-Rifle and the weapon will attach to his back just like in the show." Seems like a slick way to attach his weapon to me!

One thing I figured when we started seeing six inch figures, especially astro-mechs was that W9 would start creating more. How he paints those fine details and straight lines I just can't fathom, but his new R2-B5 looks like it just rolled off the factory floor. One can only hope Hasbro will give us a few of the other domes (man that would have made a great Hasbro Question) so we can get the full range of Astros.

EE lists Samurai Star Wars Movie Realization Figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 20 2015
Star Wars finds itself transported back in time to Feudal Japan with Star Wars Movie Realizations Action Figures from Bandai Japan! Tamashi Nations infuses these high quality figures with characters from a galaxy far, far away and an added pinch of “wa” (Japanese style).

The infamous Darth Vader is now a feudal Samurai General! Acclaimed artist Takeya Takayuki crafted this unique design that pays homage to the Japanese film influences on Star Wars. From the tip of his sharp lightsaber-turned-katana to the meticulously sculpted Samurai-esque armor, no details have been overlooked. Set includes two interchangeable lightsaber parts and three sets of interchangeable hands perfect for posing the Samurai-styled Sith Lord as he manipulates the Force.

Joining him is the “Ashigaru” (“foot soldier” in Japanese) Stormtrooper. In this interpretation, Samurai Vader’s samurai foot soldiers of the Empire are clad in far-gone Japanese feudal era attire and armament. Set includes katana and blaster rifle accessories, as well as three sets of interchangeable hand parts.

These meticulously detailed figures are currently available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth, with a scheduled arrival in August 2015. Pre-order now and get free shipping!

I might go grey just to have him stand out from the other pilots." Folks trust me when I say his Baron Fel looks fantastic! Dan reviews another Action Figure Line Up!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 19 2015
"A brand new company has entered the action figure manufacturing arena: I Am Elemental! This company was started by a pair of mothers from the New York City area that were unhappy with the female action figures found on the pegs all across America. They felt that the female figures were too hyper sexualized and suggestive, presenting an unhealthy image for little girls. They set out to create female action figures that would sport a more demure, realistic female form and would promote a more positive outlook for today's little girls. Thus was born I Am Elemental." Folks, all I can say is if you are into custom parts and accessories (who isn't right!) then this is one review you are going to want to check out!

My Kind of Scum is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 19 2015
"Realized that I haven't updated my thread here for awhile. I've been mostly working on painting up the podracer figure models from as is film models (considering Hasbro will never get to them...) but I have a few other updates as well." I really enjoyed his bounty hunter update too.

The Iron Panda is back with a 12" Tatooine Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 19 2015
"This Diorama here was build some time ago, but I had to restore it this late summer because it showed wear and tear as well as some minor damages. Everything is scratch-built from various materials except the Figures of course which are kotobukiya-sandys, simply repainted. I think I let the pictures tell the story, since i don know where to start here. The compad on the door really works, there is a small screen, attached to a DVD player inside the base. The weathering effects where done using every possible way, hairspray, sponging, washes with acrylics and artist oil paints etc...the building was made from Styrofoam coated with plaster.I have some WIP Pics I can post if you wish..." Sounds good to me IP, I would love to see how this all went together. Wow, this is awesome. Folks, you have got to see the inside of the 12" R2!

Mandalore25 is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 19 2015
"This is my Mandalorian Wars Zabrak Jedi. She fallowed Revan defying the council, for she could not sit idly by as the outer rim worlds burned. Wielding her Orange lightsaber, she slaughtered the clans of mandalore.. and liked it. When Revan returned to conquer the galaxy she was more than willing to cut down her brother and sister jedi that stood in her way. Had a lot of fun making this one, it's primarly a mix of black series Mara and Bastila. The orange lightsaber i feel really adds to the feel for the timeperiod, and that she fallowed Revan. This time it's cast as one piece blade, I'm getting pretty good at making lightsabers." If you would like to add her to your collection he has created an auction.

Ron Hembling starts work on a new Snow Scout Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 18 2015
"Sorry I haven't been around much these last few weeks work has been just crazy but finally it's slowly down to a nice pace. This dio is one of three commissions I'm doing for Tamer, this WIP dio will depict a Snow Scout relaxing next to his speeder but always on alert. The figure and speeder are Hasbro I decided to try and duplicate the speeder I made a while ago which is almost the same except the paint apps which is now %90 complete on painting the speeder I just need to add a little more weathering." Oh yeah, I have a big ole smile on my face this morning!

Art de Whill shows us an epic battle for his latest artwork update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 17 2015
"Hi all, so here is another Lucasfilm approved cover artwork I did for the German fan club magazine some time ago, titled it "The Circle is complete" and as you may notice it is based on a cool Kotobukiya statue." Its seems there is a lot of ANH Obi love today and I for one really enjoy the classic character, but I know I am OT biased big time. Looks great Steffan!

Sith's Herald gives us some new Mandalorian Artwork...

Not much is known about The Specter, other than he likes to work alone, and he is very, very good at what he does." Wow, these look marvelous. I really like the stylized versions of the Mandos he has created here, especially that Spectre.

Mandalore25 is back with a new Jedi...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 16 2015
"I've got a Mon Calamari finished with a double sided blue lightsaber. The base body is a bit of a favorite of mine, it just reminds me of a more ancient jedi look. Though it looks more like a first great schism kind of look I still chose to give him a lightsaber rather than a sword. Thinking about buying some thin black cord similar to what I make lightwhips out of, to make the old lightsaber look where the hilt connects to a power pack on the belt. If you interested in him, here's a link."

Darth Daddy is back with a new Chopper Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 16 2015
"So I wasn't really happy with the first custom action figure of Chopper that I made, so I took one more crack at him. This time I used the arms from the front of the Ralph McQuarrie R2-D2 that I realized I should have used immediately after finishing my last version. It's funny how the best piece could be right there under your nose and you still completely miss it. I inserted magnets at each end of the arm for articulation." It sure does look nice to me. Folks might have to make their own REBELS Figures the way it seems if they want new ones!

The High Rez Marvel Gallery is now live too...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 15 2015
Like I said before, most of the time I focus on the Star Wars Action Figure News, but outside of not having much to report and the fact there is so much cool new stuff that is ripe for customizing I had to create a Marvel Gallery too. What most impresses me is there is indeed some super articulation as well as some wonderful parts choices folks have here with their action figures. We can but hope Hasbro will do something similar when they do release new news regarding the action figure line as it pertains to Star Wars. Till then enjoy all of our Galleries on our Facebook Page as well as other action figure lines, etc that is being tweeted as we speak by our roving report, Dan "The Spectre" Kosa!

Well it may have been pretty lackluster for the Star Wars Line, but Marvel, Transformers, and Jurrasic Park Fans ought to be rejoicing in the streets right now. It gives me hope that we might see this same type of dedication once The Force Awakens awakens Hasbro! I know, I know, but I couldn't resist after yesterday!

"Heres a quick update...still a good bit to go though..that pattern was not easy..3rd try and still not right..I may tidy it up..but I aint doin it again lol." Personally I think it looks downright gorgeous. This makes me realize yet again that even through Hasbro irritates me (like with the poor Toy Fair Showing yesterday) that customizers here at ISY and other places create such beautiful pieces of art that it doesn't matter what the Big H does, we will always get the action figures we want, even if we have to make them ourselves! Click here to see the full challenge details and perhaps you just might make your own six inch custom action figure!

Mandalore25 is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, February 15 2015
"I'm excited to show off the orange shoto I made. I've wanting to make the more interesting lightsaber colors for a while now, but long molds aren't easy to cast, and that's why it's a shoto. It was supposed to be full length but the resin didn't make it all the way in the mold. On the clone wars era Zeltron jedi, I tried to pack it with detail, I even darkened and blackened parts of the robe with sharpie brushes. The shoto was a last min addition simply for the blade didn't turned out as planned, but I made the most of it by putting 1mm by 1mm magnets in the blade and hilt to make it come apart very effectively. If your interested in owning this one, here's a link."

The Iron Panda is back with a custom figure update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, February 14 2015
"Nothing special this time, but I want to share it with you anyway. I bought this figure at the UotF Con in Herne last Weekend(you can actually see it behind my display in the thread) and having no Idea what figure it is, well besides being Padme of course (Stefan told me it is a Hasbro Star Wars Unleashed!?) I loved the figure for its details and sculpting. So I didn't do anything drastic to the figure, just added a new chain and sculpted new groundwork.the skin-parts this time are "Airbrush only" with the rest of the figure being brush painted, again with acrylics only. The dust was done using artists pigments(yellow ochre and red oxide in a 50-50% ratio) so it's just a fast "paintjob only"-figure squeezed in between to bigger projects, but I like the finished result, I hope you do too. Wow!

Bronxstalker shows us a new Mando...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 10 2015
"My latest Mando, and this one is not a bounty hunter...but an assassin. As usual, he was made using a GI figure, sculpt work, and finished off with acrylic paints. I decided to sculpt a face mask instead of using the traditional Boba Fett/Jango Fett look, because not all Mandos look the same." Click here to add this one to your own collection.

"Finally got some free time to work on my entry..Im getting very close to the paint phase. I didnt like the original sculpt I did on her head, so I redid it, but still think its slightly bigger than it should be, but then maybe its because it doesnt have paint yet..we'll see.." Wow, Shaak Ti is turning out fantastic. Make sure you read the full contest details so you can make your own six inch Star Wars Custom for the challenge!

Commander Kurgan breaks down the Union of the Force Convention!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"Okay, we're back from the Union of the Force Convention.
The Chapter Germany of the Imperial Shipyards had a pretty good turnout with 9 People, not counting Art de Whill to kinda participated in absence. You'll see what I mean when you look at the pics. Although the rooms looked a lot larger on the floor plan and we could easily have used another table or two to better display our customs, models and props, we did the best we could to present the quality you find at the Yards. Now, let's have a look at the first Batch of photos courtesy of yours truly." We also want to give a big shout out to Iron Panda's Mom and Stefan's Wife who were great behind the scenes contributors as well! I am so stoked this worked out so well. I only wish I could have been there!

The Irish Rogue is back with a new chapter...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"The Clone Wars: Knightfall _ Volume 6. The Jedi Temple stands alone. High above the other buildings enveloping Coruscant in its entirety. Four bold towers surround the central temple, a monolith amidst the skyline. Always a beacon of hope and symbolism amidst the chaos of the hustle and bustle that is the metropolitan planet. The pinnacle of purpose for not only the core world, but the galaxy. Simple in structure and design, illuminated clearly in the waning eve. The glow seen from city blocks, even multiple hectares away, as far as the senatorial penthouse districts." That is just a small taste of this great new chapter in the series!

The Iron Panda is back with more modeling madness...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"I'm quite a Fan of Ashley Wood and especially his World War Robot Paintings, as well as his Line of Figures made by ThreeA Toys.I have a collection of these, but I do so called DIY's as well. This here is a small Bertie Mk2, sold in packs of twelve, all unpainted in either white or black plastic. I reworked the Arms to hold the scratch-build rifle and added pouches. The chipped paint is done with sponging on paint with a little piece of a sponge which worked well, but some certain spots need to be redone with a fine brush.to see how small it is i managed to get a Inch Ruler,so you don have to bother with millimeters here. The trash bin is from a toy Garbage truck, most of the little pieces of mechanical details are from the parts bin." This has to be seen to be believed!

The Clonehead is making great progress on his six inch Cody!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"Got some paintwork done on Cody yesterday. I have switched to a clone Sargent body as I had two of him and wanted to keep my shiney clone for my collection. I'm going to have to fab up a shoulder antenna device for him." It looks great so far!

TS Hobbies shows us a custom figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"Hello everyone, just wanted to start sharing my custom 6" figures I'm working on. Heres my first completed figure in the 6" line..just a repaint sort of. I removed the molded on hair, and using the Dremel I replaced the head details on the back of the head. For paint I used Model Master acrylics, for the skin I used Panzer Olivgrun for the base color, and gave it various shades of highlights by mixing in some Vallejo Pale Sand." Wow, talk about a much better look for Yoda!

ThisIsRed5 is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"Darth Maul custom. The head started as a Gold Dust wwe basic figure. I shaved down parts and added here and there. The body is a marvel legends Agent Venom. His skirt is part of the halo master cloak and also strips of an old silk tie that I coated w epoxy. The paint is designed to work better with the joints to avoid scraping so it's different than most designs slightly." Wow, looks pretty tough to me!

Starchaser shows us a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 9 2015
"Here's a stray that I had in my photobucket account. I don't have a name or species yet, but he functions as security for some outlaw mechanics and shipwrights. He's built from a Cobra trooper body and the head from the Grasia Star Trek Kreon." Looks like a pretty interesting combination to me.

"Hi Yarders, here comes another of my photomanip-painting-mix and because it's winter a Hoth image fits perfect I think. Done in 2013. Enjoy!" Stefan, it looks great and I do agree it is perfect for the time of year I am living in now which seems to be Hoth!

The Iron Panda shows us more Apoc Dios...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, February 6 2015
"Perhaps you might like this one too? It is my first post-apocalyptic work and its based on a Preiser "Eve" anatomy model in 1:22,5 scale. I cut the figure apart and glued her in the pose I was looking for, then sculpted the clothes from Aves Apoxie. The clutter on the base is mostly what I found in the parts bin. The corrugated sheet metal is actually made from paper...low-tech modelling" Low Tech looks great to me!

The Iron Panda shows us a Walking Dead Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 5 2015
"Being a Fan of "The Walking Dead" I had to repaint this one: McFarlanes Daryl Dixon, of course...I again sculpted over the joints and after brushpainting him with Revell acrylics I scratched a small base." Talk about one great custom figure!

The Iron Panda is back with more modeling madness...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 5 2015
"Besides StarWars I am quite into post-apocalyptic models and collectibles.this here is not"exactly" modelling, but it is figure painting which is kinda modelling also, right? The Figures depicted are Resin Kits from German manufacture"Kellerkind-Miniaturen"and are 1:32 in Scale. I brush-painted them with acrylics.the base is scratchbuild from small wooden strips glued over a mesh to make them look like a soon-to-collapse attik floor." I think it is a great diorama!

JDeck shows great progress on his Imperial Tank...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 5 2015
"I'm down the home stretch the hard part is over. I finished the work I wanted to last night. I finished the outside of the cupola and added another thin coat of paint. I like to paint in thin alternating coats it gives it a nice worn look completed. Now I just need to add details to the inside of the hatch door and finish painting." I really like what he used to fix that top turret hatch. Make sure you scroll around to see how he fixed that.

Bronxstalker shows us one amazing transformation...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 5 2015
"Alright, like I show earlier, I had 4 customs I was working on. I recently showed my Ghost Trooper, and now I have the 6" Lady Snake Eyes complete (2 more WiPs to finish, and then I'll start on others). As far as I know, there are no known Lady Snake Eyes customs, and that's probably due to her not being a real character in GI Joe. Snake Eyes is my favorite ninja, so I figured I'd make Snake Eyes...but with the feminine twist." Wow, does she just look tough or what folks! Click here to go add her to your collection.

Clonehead shows great progress in molding his new Cody Head...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, February 5 2015
"I'm going to call this one Cmdr. Cody head mark 1. These are the first castings from two molds to make this first head. I'm quite satisfied with the antenna mold as it is working perfectly. The head mold however has some bubble issues that I don't agree with so I'm going to have to do that one over again. I'm trying to make things extra pretty on this one.
I can work with what I got and I guess I could almost call this part in production now." It sure does look good to me. I can't wait to see what this looks like painted up!

Most Wanted Collectibles lists new February Pre-Orders!

"A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! Continuing the lineup of beautiful bishoujo-inspired statues combining the superheroines and villains of DC Comics with traditional Japanese stylings is a truly magical lady, the sorceress ZATANNA! Daughter of the famous stage magician Giovanni "John" Zatara, Zatanna debuted in 1964 as a powerful addition to the mystical side of the DC universe. In addition to performing on stage like her father, the skilled magician has worked with various versions of the Justice League, Sentinels of Magic, and more with her unique backwards English spell casting. Zatanna appears in this brand new Japanese bishoujo (pretty girl) styled statue."

If you are a DC Comics Fan you are going to love taking a look at all of the new DC Comics Pre-orders this month. It looks like Batman has quite a few products to choose from. Make sure you see all of the new pre-orders as I am really just scratching the surface!

Clonehead shows us his latest work for the custom challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, February 4 2015
"Too cold for iron work today. I ended up using a part from a model airplane sprue and the head and part of the shaft of a stick pin to make codys antennae. I joined the two and sculpted the bottom curve of the antenna wrapping around the pin with superglue. "Yes spry, I do sometimes sculpt with superglue." I drilled a hole and countersink hole into the head to receive the pin shaft and am calling it fabbed. Got to get this head into a mold bath so I can get one out and get some paint on it." Talk about looking fantastic so far. Of course he doesn't get the name Clonehead for nothing! Don't forget to see the full contest details so you can get your own six inch custom entered.

KRZTFR is turning trash to treasure...

Based on how my custom output has been limited I'm thinking he is my entry into this challenge. Here is his current state. Still thinking I need to give him his shin guards. Mandalore25 is back with a new Sith...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 3 2015
"Back with another sith, this one named Darth Theos. While making him, he always looked somewhere between an assassin and a warrior. Personally I never decided which, but I also never saw why he could't be both, and with his build, who'd argue with him? If anybody is interested, here's a link."

Tankster is back with some TMNT Work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, February 3 2015

Clonesniper78 shows us a wip for our latest challenge...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, February 2 2015
"This is my WIP of Obi Wan in Mando armorHis hair looks funky because I had to sand it down a little bit so it would fit into the helmet. I also dremeled and sanded the Boba neck nub until the Obi Wan head would fit on there. Then I dremeled out the helmet until it would fit. Which was kinda scary because I had to make it really thin in some areas. Enjoy, and obviously I still have a lot of painting to do." I already like the look of this one. Don't forget to see the full contest detailsso you can get your own six inch Star Wars Custom entered!

Vateel is revered by his men, they share a mutual respect for one another. His men would follow him in the depths of hell, as he leads from in front, instead of from behind." I think I can guess most of the pieces on this one. Nice combination if you ask me.
