Solo getting name change for China Release?
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 31 2018
So evidently the Last Jedi didn't go over too well in China and was pulled after only being in the box office for a small time. I am having a hard time thinking Chinese Moviegoers will be duped into thinking this is not a Star Wars Film!

Panther adds rubbish...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 29 2018
"I have been told recently that my diorama's have been too "clean", that
they need rubbish. With this in mind using a toilet tube and cutting a inch off the top, rolling out three pieces of putty into long strand that reach round the circumference of the tube. One for either end of the tube, one for middle, surrounded with little super glue to keep it in place. An LED candle light was put into the bottom of the tube and then painted with black gloss."
Now that is one cool heating barrel!
Panther starts a new diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 29 2018
"For my latest diorma, I'm carrying on with the alleyway theme but this time its scaled for 6 inch figures.
Using floor insulation foam board, I cut a piece 8" x 12" for the base, 7"x 12" for the back wall, 5" x 8" for the side wall. The bricks for the wall for the back wall were carved with each brick being 1" x 0.5", a side door was carved into wall, the door frame and door are made from bolsa wood. The side wall I wanted to make smaller than back wall with the bricks 1" x 2"."
Looks awesome to me.

Ron Hembling's son and daughter paint up some Orcs!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, January 28 2018
"Hi All,
The son got a box of Warhammer and 40K Space Marines and Orcs that a friends son didn't want anymore. Hunter (son) 8yrs decided to start painting the Orcs and then the Rhylie (daughter) 13yrs decided to join in.
Hunter painted the two Orcs in the first 4 pics and Rhylie painted one Orc in the last two pics. They painted these all themselves with me only guiding them on what brushes to use and how to use them correctly and how to apply the paint correctly.
Needless to say I was stoked with the level of paint skills the kids have seeing that it was the second attempt at painting. And yes I am very very proud of them both to say the least
Ron"
Now that is a fun way to get the entire family involved. And the painting skill on both is already great! Runs in the family for sure!
Ron Hembling back with new WW2 Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, January 27 2018
"Hi All,
Just another little easy 1:35 scale WW2 dio and this time it's SS Panzer crew in Kursk 1943.
The figures are from Dragon and built straight out of the box and painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.
The base is an old 12" figure base and I used Tamiya's Soil Effects Brown and covered the base and once dry gave it a few washes of Vallejo's Chocolate Brown.
Once the washes were done I dry brushed it with Vallejo's Beige Brown and the grass tufts are from Army Painter.

Here is my modified and weathered "5 points of articulation", 3 3/4" Shoretrooper. The figure has now bendable elbows and swivel wrists. I'm going to post a detailed tutorial of the added articulation in the near future.
The E22 blaster rifle is also modified. I added a strap and a flashlight to the weapon. The weathering was made with different enamel washes and a pencil."

Dan reviews Lizzie from the new Rampage Line...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 26 2018
"Rampage: The Movie" Big City Brawl Lizzie Review:
This is the big one, the one I have been wanting to get my hands on since the first pictures of this line found their way online a few weeks back.
This set is the most spartan of the "Big City Brawl" assortment, it only includes 2 pieces- Lizzie and a figure that is recycled from Lanard's "The Corps!" line. The reasoning behind this is due to Lizzie's MASSIVE size! She is so big that her tail has to be packed separately above her just to fit her in the box (and she barely fits, the base of her tail rests against the inside right of the box and her nose almost touches the inside left of the box). With her tail attached, Lizzie measures just a hair shy of 22" long from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail!"
That is just a taste of the review be sure to click in to see what Dan thinks about this offering.

The base is a old figure base and I added a 50/50 mix of spakfilla/sand and applied it to the base. The fence is some scrap balsa wood I have lying around and the grss tufts are from Army Painter and the bushes are from Woodland Scenics.

"I've had a very busy weekend. Researching what the planet Vulcan looked like, which meant watching this episode a few times and also watching a lot of Star Trek. Vulcan is a reddish planet so I needed to redden the arena wall. Mixing up burnt umber with crimson red, I dry brushed all the stone work including centre platform. Then mixed up crimson with burnt umber (crimson being the dominant of the mix) I went back round dry brushing all the stone. Then each of the five pillars had a coat of this latest mix.
I recently purchased a TNG Sarek figure to customise and to my delight he came with the gong and the mallet from this episode. I have base coated them with gun metal grey and left it to dry over night.
This weekend I will laying the sand down for the arena."

Ron Hembling shares new WWII Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 19 2018
"Hi All,
Did a little 1:35 scale WW2 dio of a German NCO Fallschirmjager invading the low lands in May 1940.
The figure and parachute are from Zvezda and comes wth another 4 figures but I just wanted to build the figure and chute only to see what it is like.
The quality with the Zvezda kits is amazing the details are nice and crisp and hardly no flash and the kit also comes with the string for the chutes ropes.
I painted and weathered the figure and chute using Vallejo paints and the base was done using Tamiya's Diorama Texture paint (Soil Effect). The soil effect is great and is a paint and and fine grit mixed in with it and it becomes a thick paste which I applied with a brush.
Once dry I then dry brushed it with Vallejo Tan Earth and the added the tufts which are from Army Painter and the bushes are from Woodland Scenics.
Ron"
Do you ever see Ron put his hands onto something that doesn't turn out stellar? NO!

"The four pillars embedded into the walls I sanded down each of them, removing all excess plaster, in order to make each on as smooth as they were on the show. All four including the center column was given an initial coat of the the grey and umber mix. The center platform was given a second coat of a lighter grey than the first and a dry wash of the grey/umber mix, this was to weather the platform."

Dan reviews Big Ralph!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, January 18 2018
"Rampage: The Movie" Big City Brawl Ralph Review:
This set retails for $14.92 and contains Ralph (a mutated giant wolf), a 3POA action figure (recycled from Lanard's long running "The Corps!" line), 2 pistols (also recycled from "The Corps!") and a smashed bus diorama element.
The real star of this set is Ralph. Ralph measures 13.75" long (nose to tip of tail) and 7" tall (foot to humped back) and has 10 POA- swivel hips, hinged front knees and paws, hinged tail and up/down neck which when pushed, activates his biting action. Ralph is made from plastic with heavy vinyl for the tail, top of his head, spiked inset down his back, front forelegs and front paws ensuring that this is a solid toy that will hold up to some rough play. The sculpt is ferocious and the paint apps are excellent."
Trust me there is lots more to see than this when you click through.

Panther changes the wall height...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 16 2018
"Since I finished the lower wall the other day, I was not happy about the height of it. This evening I added another layer of tin foil and then laid a layer of modroc over it, doubling the wall in height. I now feel it is more in proportion with Kirk and Spock.
I glued a layer of black foam board to the foam base, this will strengthen the overall base.
When this is dry I can start working on the arena floor and cutting the base to size."
I am wondering how many times he has watched that episode so far. Nice to see he is getting it right.

My next step is to add a second layer to he base because the weight of the filler and modroc will break the foam board of lifted incorrectly. Then another layer of filler to be added to the rock wall."
He is definitely making good progress.

This set contains Ralph (a soon to be mutated wolf), a quad missile launcher with 4 removable silver missiles (recycled from "The Corps!"), a 2POA figure with a rifle (also recycled from "The Corps!"), a dark silver canister and 2 different styled gold barricades.
Ralph is the real star of this set. He is made from solid heavy vinyl similar to Schleich products and has 5 points of articulation- 4 swivel hips and a hinged jaw.
The quad missile launcher is a welcome addition to this set as I have been waiting for Lanard to reissue this piece for almost a decade. I plan on getting 5 more of this set just for the missile launchers."

This set contains Lizzie (a soon to be mutated alligator), a small boat (reused from previous "The Corps!" and "Kong: Skull Island" lines), an action figure (reused from "The Corps!"), some dark silver accessories and some gold accessories.
The real star of the set is Lizzie herself. Lizzie is made from solid, heavy vinyl and feels like a Schleich item. She only has one point of articulation- a hinged upper jaw, but her dynamic sculpt, pose and paint apps more than make up for her lack of articulation."
Trust me that is just the start of his great review.

Falcon - is from Bandai and is the mini one and it was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks.
Base - I got from the craft store and the mountains/rocks are foam just pulled apart and then watered down spakfilla was used to cover them.
I then painted and dry brushed them using Vallejo Paints and then I added the snow by watering down spakilla till in was a pancake consistency and then applied it with a brush.

As some of you know I have been wanting to do a 1:12 Death Star dio with 6 - 7 levels with different scene's from ANH. The problem I have is to do 6 - 7 levels it will cost a small fortune to buy walls or get them printed 3D or laser cut on MDF.
I mate of mine has a set of GTP Toys DS walls and he took a few photo's and printed them off and sent them to me. Now I'll admit that I wasn't a fan of printed walls but I took 2 hours tonight and put this little dio together and I was very surprised how it looks.(Good Surprised)
What are your thoughts on the printed walls guys/gals?

The UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft also known as the UT-60D, or U-wing, was a transport/gunship model manufactured by Incom Corporation and used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.
[wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/UT-60D_U-wing_starfighter/support_craft]
A big thank you goes to Philipp (legion078) who gave me the washes I used for the weathering of the U-Wing
Manufacturer: Revell (https://www.revell.de/en/products/star-wars/star-wars-rogue-one/id/06755.html)
Scale: ~ 1/100
No. of parts: 35
Lights and sound module with batteries is included.
Weathering:
I used different washes to create a weathering effect. I also tried the chipping technique (old sponge with a little bit of paint) on some areas.
Some panels were painted in a different color to get the typical "rebel ship look". The engine block was repainted with a dark bronze color and dry-brushed. The cooling fins for the engine are made of cardboard.
I hope you like it."

"After putting it altogether I placed a box with a couple of rubbish bags in the room.
While trying to decide who would suit this diorama I placed ‘66 Batman and Robin to fill the void which works very well, especially when I placed the Joker at the window looking in.
Hope you you enjoy the pictures."
It looks great to me.

Ron Hembling back with more Thunderbirds work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 9 2018
"Hi All,
I'm on a bit of a Thunderbird run at the moment and decided to do another simple display.
This one is TB3 from the new Thunderbirds are go series, it is the toy from Vivid and I did a complete repaint and wash to it using Vallejo Paints.
The base is from AOSHIMA TB 1 Launch Bay 1/350 kit, as I wasn't going to need it I used it for this little project. The base was painted with Vallejo Paints, the smoke is cotton wool pulled apart and glued in place.
Ron"
The paint job looks awesome on this one!

"Hi guys, it has been a long time since my last update, because of building my own Beskar'gam for the Mandalorian Mercs and I also joined the 501st Legion with my Darth Revan costume.
For all of that I had to spend a lot of time, but after finished it I found time again for customizing new action figures and I want to show you my latest Sith Lord. I hope you enjoy it.
Greetings Talon"

"I went over the white walls with a light grey wash. While that was drying I took some scrap foam and constructed a small bookcase with books, which meets The Flashes approval.
Once the walls are dry I will add darker dry washes over the walls, paint the bookcase and books, before gluing the walls onto the base."
He is really making great progress on this one.

Panther starts Apartment Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 8 2018
"While I work out another one like The Guardian of Forever I'm putting together a small apartment room diorama for the Comic Con I am attending in February.
This new little diorama is scaled to 6 inch action figure. Made from foam board I’ve cut to walls and marked brick on both sides, cut a window on the larger wall. The floor is another piece of foam board, with bolsa wood stuck to it. The wood I will mark out floor boards and score the brick work into the walls."
Looks like he is off to a great start already.

New work from Ron Hembling...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, January 7 2018
"Hi All,
Another update on the Thunderbird excavator dio.
The excavator is now complete and it felt like it was missing something so I added thin plastic rod on both side and also added hydraulic hoses to the back of the arms.
The base is high density foam and cut to shape and the cliff face I just ripped apart foam with my finger and then glued them in place.
I the glued the excavator in place and with the left over small pieces of foam I glued them to the dozer section of the excavator and glued them tight against the grinder so it looks like it is starting to smash the rocks up.
The mine shaft support beams are pieces of balsa wood cut and glued inplace and once this was done the cliff face, rocks and ground were covered with spakfilla.
I have started painting the cliff face and rocks using Vallejo Paints as was the excavator and then I will start weathering them with pastel chalks.
Ron"
Ron is in extreme mode as you can see!

Coruscant Cantina Customs is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, January 6 2018
"Chatz “Max” Kseeboe was a Rodian assassin who had an aptitude for poisoning his targets. Max’s main clients were those involved in politics who wanted their political adversaries eliminated. He had a penchant for Sabacc, and frequented cantinas in Coruscant’s lower levels. It was in one of these seedy establishments that he first encountered Aa’ Shachen. He quickly took interest in the young Twi’lek and decided to mentor her. Max was a very successful assassin, and was never convicted of murder. He was, however, eventually imprisoned for tax evasion because he wasn’t very good at managing his finances.
I painted the armor on the Anakin torso so that the color better matched that of the loki arms. I also weathered the pants with bronze paint. Oddly, the Doda Bodonawieedo head was cast in brown despite being painted entirely green, so I had to mix the same color green to paint the base of the head after dremeling out the socket for the ball joint."
I like that recipe!
Ron Hembling is already back at work on a new Thunderbirds Dio...

"Hi All,
Another TB dio in the works.
This excavator is from IMAI and is an old kit which needs alot of work especially the seams etc. This vehicle wasn't in the TV show but did show up in TB comics.
I removed the cockpit section and replaced it with plastic card and I made the chair with plastic card and added decals for the spare decals I have.
The figures were 1/72 scale German figures from Prieser and I sanded the uniforms and made the belts and shoulder section using paper. The holsters are also from the same figure kit and the cartridge holders on the left are done with thin plastic rod.
Ron"
I am liking this TB Work.

Ron Hembling goes underwater on us...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, January 4 2018
"Hi All,
Last update for the night.
Pic's 1 and 2 have had the glass covered with a 70/30 mix of Woodland Scenics Realistic water 70% and Light Green Artist Paint 30% and once mixed it was spread over the glass and left to dry.
Pic 3 shows what the mix looks like underneath and Pic 4 shows how the scenery now has a very light green auroa from the mix.
Pic's 5, 6 and 7 shows the water now with Woodland Scenics Water Effects covering it. It's a little hard to see but the water has very small waves to match the scale of the TB's, I did this by spreading the Water Effects over the first mix and while drying I got a damp baby wipe and starting dapping on a angle towards the large land mass.
Once the Water Effects dries it will be clear and then I will give the waves a very light dry brush of white to bring out the waves. The road has had the lines painted on then a wash of matt black was done to tone down the grey.
Ron"
The look the painted glass gives for an underwater effect is just crazy good!

Ron Hembling back with a new Thunderbirds Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 3 2018
"Hi All,
More work done on the TB diorama.
I have added two different types of seaweed to the ocean floor. The tall thin seaweed is dried roots painted a light green and glued on with PVA glue and the small grassy looking seaweed is static grass Dark Green from Woodland Scenics.
I got some non stick cooking paper and dapped PVA around in different sizes and sprinkled the static grass over the glue. I then took the non stick cooking paper out side and blew across the paper to make the static grass standup and once the PVA glue dried I pulled the grass/seaweed off and glued them to the base.
Ron"

Panther back with two new updates...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 2 2018
"Morning all. This morning I brushed off some of the excess sand. I painted the border with a black acrylic, then heated up my glue gun sticking down the wall and pillar to the base.
While the base is still drying, I had to put it together to see how it looks. When it is completely dry I will do my usual final pictures.
I have finally managed to do the completed photo's of the Alleyway.
I hope you like them!"
Both projects are fantastic. I really am gonna have to get back into some of those old Star Trek Episodes.
Ron Hembling back with more Thunderbirds work...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 2 2018
"Hi All,
I did more work on the TB diorama.
I have built and painted the Jet Bomber plane using Vallejo paints and added decals from left over spare ones. The Bomber was made using plastic card and I then ripped the right back wing off to simulate it hitting the tower.
The comms tower was painted using Vallejo Paints and then I used a pair of cutters to destroy where the bomber had it.
The mountians and ground work were given washes of different browns and then a wash of medium grey. I gave the ocean floor a few washes of Vallejo Iraqui Sand and The road to the Comms Tower had been given it's first coat and I still need to weather it and add the lines.
The bushes are from Army Painter and the tree's and small shrubs are from Woodland Scenics.
Ron"
This is really coming into the home stretch now folks.

Fiala Fernbrugg shares new Trooper...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 1 2018
"IMPERIAL SHOCK TROOPER
Imperial shock troopers were high-class stormtroopers pulled from the Stormtrooper Corps of the Galactic Empire. They served as elite frontline forces of the Empire, and also as bodyguards for Emperor Palpatine himself. They were the successors to the clone shock troopers who were part of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. [wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_shock_trooper]
The figure is a modified and repainted "5 points of articulation" Rogue One Stormtrooper. The detailing of the figure is really good but the missing articulation in the elbows is a real disappointment. I changed the position of the forearms with wire and putty.
I used Revell flame red silk-matt (330) = RAL 3000 for the repaint. For the weathering I used the Revell weathering set pigments.
My last custom figure for 2017. I would like to thank for your support and your comments this year. I wish you all a Happy New Year."
Now that is the way to get the new year started right!
