Mr. Jedi 1977 is back with more vintage carded customs!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 31 2017
"Another carded update with something from each movie ! Special thanks going to Ds customs and foxtrot delta for helping get closer to completing my goal ! Enjoy."

I know I sure enjoyed em. Seeing these characters shared in pure vintage glory sure does take me back to the good ole days. Daggone I wish we could figures on vintage cards with full movement and excellent paint apps again!

Ron Hembling shares a new Shoretrooper Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 31 2017
"Hi All,

Doing another two diorama's and it will be two Shore troopers (Officer & Sargeant) and it will be able to go together like the 3-3/4" Shore troopers I did a few weeks back.

So far the figures are 95% done and I just need to add the red symbol to the top right side of the helmet. The figures are BS 6" Shore troopers Sargeant and I converted one to a officer by removing the karma and adding thigh armour and the Sargeant's karma was removed and replaced with a cloth one.

I glued the joints and then puttied then up and then added tissue to the cloth sections and then they were painted and weathered using Vallejo and Game Workshop paints.

The bases so far are bases from the Bandai figures and they were glued together and then balsao wood frames were added.

Ron"

What can I say? It is gonna be another great one!

Dan reviews the new Exo Suits...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 31 2017
"My Toysrus.com order containing 6 of the "Sentinel1" ground assault exo-suits arrived!

Size wise, they are pretty nice. Standard height Star Wars and ME Joes fit in them very well. Taller Joes and most Marvel Universe figures will not allow the front piece to lower all of the way into position. The control joysticks are quite thick and too big for most action figures to grip so they will either get shaved down or replaced completely.

The exo-suits are a bit floppy without a figure in them. They stand up just fine, but the arms will not do anything but hang at the suit's sides unless supported by an action figure."

Make sure you click through to see his full review. Dan finds all the good stuff!

Kenneth Penix shares more of his custom 6" Mandos...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 31 2017
"Tell me what your guys think of these 6inch mandos so far.im going to go on the bounty hunt for more jangos soon."

That was his post on our Facebook Page. Let him know what you think!

Forceflow is back with a Bounty Hunter...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 30 2017
"Vig Yazat – Bounty Hunter

Nobody told this guy not to wear white after Labor Day. And with that rifle and armor, who would?

Not much backstory, other than a generic "Star Wars" bad guy. Looks like he raided a military surplus store... I see pieces from the Clone Wars, Imperial Snowtrooper, and Mandalorian armor. Apparently, he's not picky about his gear. At least this way, he fits in with original AND sequel trilogies.

This was mostly an experiment to use up fodder with like colors. The grunge excuses my crappy paint job. Other than part combinations, I was inspired by the prototype/Ralph McQuarrie Boba Fett.

Trivia: the rifle is a cut down Dragunov sniper. It was a bit too spindly for my G. I. Joes, so I thought it worked well for Star Wars without much modification."

He looks pretty merc to me!

OC47150 is back with a mega-update!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 30 2017
"Long overdue for an update. The holidays are over and I'm getting my custom materials out of storage.

Here are pix of items I did last fall. Have several new customs in the pipeline.

First up is a Mando. Came across this GI Joe head (it's from the cancelled Jurassic Park line) at a toy show and knew it would be perfect for a Mando. He just looks like a rough customer with the face tattoo. The backpack is from a Falcon figure.

Next is a generic Republic Commando. The figure was the plain white commando that came in the comic two-pack. I added the generic clone head, and painted it. The paint scheme resembles Sev."

Trust me he is just getting started. I like the look of some of his non SW Customs too.

Wampa 1 updates his TFA Han...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, January 29 2017
"Speaking of Han, though, a few more updates. I really like the 5 POA headsculpt but it's TINY and looks silly, especially next to unmasked Kylo. I swapped it with the Black Series head, and painted the hair grey. Also added a splash of colour to the little bullet things on the jacket."

Talk about a great rendition of this character. Wampa1 puts great stuff together.

The latest from Tunghori...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, January 28 2017
Asia eBay Powerhouse Seller Tunghori is still going strong. If you want to buy figures at great deals and in bulk this seller is usually the first place to look.

After reading Darth Daddy's post about getting his Rebel Fleet Troopers there I had to go look. He has 157 separate action figure listings as of this post.

Darth Daddy checks back in with some Rebel Fleet Troopers...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, January 28 2017
"ROGUE ONE" REBEL FLEET TROOPER ARMY BUILD

Sometime last year, eBay seller Tunghori was selling the Vintage Collection's Rebel Fleet Trooper in bulk and we jumped at the chance to diversify our Rebel brigade by doing some head swaps to swell our ranks. Most of the heads were just spares we had floating around in a container we had full of random heads from G.I. Joe, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean action figures. It was a quick and easy project that had a huge payoff. Since these troopers feature so heavily in the film Rogue One, we figured that this would be a great time to show you all the possibilities for enhancing your home displays. It was also a cool opportunity to show off our "Tantive IV Passageway" diorama made by Star Wars customizer, Boutros77.

Wouldn't it be lovely if Hasbro brought back the army building packs and issued us one of these sets to celebrate both Rogue One and the 40th anniversary of A New Hope? We think army building sets of Rebel Fleet Troopers would fly off the shelves."

Well now that is one cool group. All he needs now is a Vader to chop em up! And yes it would be quite awesome for Hasbro to bring back some army building packs. By the way stay tuned for the link if you have any questions to ask Hasbro for our Toy Fair visit next month!

JDeck shares the latest news from Bandai...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, January 28 2017
"So Bandai is making a couple of Yoda kits. It's a two for one deal. A 1/6 prequel Yoda, and a 1/12 Yoda statue (no articulation). It's kind of odd, but this would be first non armoured figure in kit form. I would get it just for the ESB yoda statue. I think they are going for about 30 USD.

http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/products/yoda.html

Also in March comes the 1/144 AT-AT. I think im the last one to know about this. I didn't find out until yesterday on the BBTS ad. But anyway. Its all up on their official website.

http://bandai-hobby.net/sw/jp/products/atat.html

Comes with little tiny drivers and looks like alternate hydraulic inserts fot the legs, depending on the position you place it."

I am gonna have to have probably that Yoda and that AT-AT for sure!

Mandalore 25 creates what could be his best custom yet...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 27 2017
"Today I think I have one of my best, Darth Sion from KOTOR II. Sion was a casualty of the Great Sith War (Exar Kun War), but in facing certain death he found that calling on all his pain, anger, and hatred, he could acheave immortality at the cost of eternal agony. He's mostly a Marvel Univers Draxx with Starlord lower legs, then dremeled the cuts into the figure (dremeled the jawline too, Sion's isn't as square as Draxx), accentuated them with a knife, black washed them so they're visible under any light. Disappointed with the skin tone a bit, too grey, next time I think I'll add some more flesh tone to it, and the right eye is till a little too big.

If anyone is interested he's listed here:"

I don't know what he is talking about with the grey, it looks fantastic. It is definitely one of the best versions of this character I have seen and I have seen a few.

Well now that is pretty rad looking. Wait till you click in and see the base he made to go with!

Mandalore 25 gives us a second custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, January 26 2017
"Second is a companion from KOTOR, Mission Vao who helped a broken Revan escape sith occupied Taris. The base is Barris Offee, with the arms, and head from a light blue Boss Fight female blank, so the arms don't wear. I sculpt her Lekku, but I think I put them too far forward on the head, made it so the headband had to be low, not as character accurate as I'd like, but I'll try her again sometime.

If anyone is interested, she's listed here:"

She also looks very good to me.

Mandalore 25 gives us a new Sith...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, January 26 2017
"Got two today, the first is another of Darth Krayt's One Sith order, Darth Ruyn, master of Darth Talon, until her final test, killing her master. Slightly modified Bib Fortuna head, on some G.I. Joe figures, Snake Eyes, with Zartan arms I think?

He's listed here if anyone is interested:"

He looks good to me!

I like his effects with that Sidious. Great looking custom figure too!

Ron Hembling is back with a First Order Trooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 25 2017
"Hi All,

Another easy build and base.

Recipe

Figure - is the Bandai FO trooper and was built straight out of the box and was painted using Vallejo and MIG paints yes I know new paints and I have found the MIGS paints are on par with Vallejo.

I have had people email and PM me as to why I am doing articulated figures and the reason is that I have a Con coming up in June and I will have a table selling my pieces and I had people ask me will there be articulated figures this year at the table and so that is why I have been doing some of them this way.

Base - is very simple it is the troopers base with balsa wood sides and then a mix of 40% sand and 60% spakfilla was mixed together with a little water and then it was spread over the base. Once dry I gave the sand a wash of Vallejo's Iraqui Sand and the small wall is a piece of high density foam and I pulled pieces of it and added spakfilla over it then painted it Vallejo Iraqui Sand and then a light wash of Vallejo Beige Brown.

Ron"

I always like how Ron describe exactly how he does everything. He really doesn't leave any of us much excuse to not go out and try a few things like this ourselves!

JDeck paints up his Imperial Shipyard...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 25 2017
"I've been debating whether to paint it dark grey or light grey or even hull red brown. So I ended up with a medium grey. It is light but it contrasts the near white of the Star Destroyer. I will paint the hangar interior darker, and meybe some of the rigging hull red. I still need to build the Star Destroyer specifically for this build, meybe in the building process. We'll see, easier said than done. Im actually watching a show about how mega ships are built, that's another reason I did this build, I'm a big nerd about stuff like this."

I am really, really liking this project.

KRZTFR is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 25 2017
"I made a Sith Acolyte based on the SWTOR Decieved and Hope trailers. Recipe: His body is one of the Nolan Batman toys I picked up at Goodwill. I shaved the ears and face down, sculpted mask (first time and with Sculpey III) he has Darth Mauls soft goods skirt as well as the cloak and rubber belt. The control pieces on the gauntlets are the mouth/nose pieces from the Hasbro 6 inch Biker Scout.

Weapon: I gave him a scratch built saber from styrene tubing, and the blade was salvaged off of a Star Wars Unleashed DarthVader statue that was too bent to keep."

He looks like the perfect Sith to me!

Ron Hembling is back with a new Clone...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 23 2017
"Hey All,

I did another Clone yesterday it made him into a Commander but of no one in particular. but I'm looking for a Wolfe sculpt so I can do him later down the track

Recipe

Trooper - is from Bandai and is built straight out of the box. He has two phase 2 helmets one with the visor up and one down, I used the head from Hasbro's Jango Fett figure and puttied the neck section then inserted a plastic tube for length then a small piece of electrical cord that I removed the wiring and that connects to the ball socket on the neck piece. The neck cover is just a piece of stocking wrapped together then glued into place.

Base - is from the kit with balsa wood sides and then a mix of sand 40%/spakfilla 50%/paint 10% was mixed together and placed over the base and while it is hardening I made to feet impressions so that the figure can be placed on the base without falling over.

Once the mix was dry I then used potty mix and covered the base and left it to dry and then it was given a wash of Vallejo's Flat Brown and German Cam Dark Green and this was spread over the potty mix to tone down the colours. I used plants from JoeFix Studios for the palm looking palnts and the spike plants and repainted and dry brushed them and the grass tufts are from Army Painter.

Ron"

Oh yeah, love that vizor on the helmet. Looks good Ron!

Mandalore 25 is back with a new Darth Azard...

"Been a while, but I'm back with another Darth Azard from the Legacy comics. Made him with a Quarren Soldier upper half, and an A'Sharad Hett lower half with custom soft goods over that. The shoulder pads are casts, one of Savage Opress's, and the other of Darth Krayt's with points sculpt to look like Azard's.

If anyone is interested, he's listed here:"

He looks pretty tough to me!

JDeck shows a cool use for the metal earth kits...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, January 22 2017
"I was able to get a bunch of the Metal Earth Star Wars kits pretty cheap on ebay. I got them because they are basically photo etched parts. They might be a little thicker than photo brass, but the difference is negligible. Each kit has two sheets full of different shapes, and they are pretty well detailed considering the thinness of the sheets. Works great for detailing panels, and they can be bent fairly easily."

Sounds like a great idea to me! The effect is awesome on his Imperial Shipyard.

JDeck builds an Imperial Shipyard!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 20 2017
"I've had this Bandai 1/14000 Star Destroyer for a while, and it's a great little kit. However there isn't anything in the same scale to go along with it, not even the Armada miniatures. So I thought it would be cool to make an Imperial Shipyard. Though in technical terms it's more like a Slipway, or an orbital drydock, but it's where they make Star Destroyers. Right now this is just the basic frame, I still need a lot more detail. I have some photo etch 1/700 railings for the beams or whatever. But, this is the general idea. I thought of getting another SD kit and make it look like it's being constructed."

An Imperial Shipyard at Imperial Shipyards. I like that a lot!

Ron Hembling completes a new Sandtrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 18 2017
"Hi All,

Completed this dio finally I was just waiting on paint and pastel chalks.

Recipe

Troopers - are from Bandai and built straight out of the box and I then covered the joints with stocking material and then painted weathered them using Vallejo paints and pastel chalks. The bino's I got from a mate over on FB Bandai forums and the strap is just a piece of thin leather.

Base - is from the Stannarts Dewback resin kit and the sand is a mix of 50% sand/ 45% spakfilla/ 5% sand paint. Once the lot was mixed together I then applied it to the base and once dry I then painted and weathered the rocks with Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.

Ron"

Wow, I like it all, especially that base! Neat idea with those colors.

Ron Hembling shows us his final project images...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 17 2017
"Hi All,

Here are the usual pics and recipe.

Recipe

Pilot - is from Hasbro and I superglued the joints and then puttied them up and once the putty was dry I used tissue paper to cover the outfit. I used the open hands from the Bandai Stormtrooper so the hands could lock together as the Hasbro hands were to closed to give them that stand at ease look.

Fighter - is from Bandai is 1/72nd scale and was built straight out of the box and I used a piece of plastic rod and the end of the stand attachment that comes with the kit to secure the fighter to the base.

Base - The fighters base is the one that comes with the kit and the pilots base is two Bandai bases that comes with the figures. I glued the two bases together and the painted them and used to empty inhalers for the canisters.

I painted everything using Vallejo paints.

Ron"

I think its pretty to cool to see the pilot with his chosen vehicle in a kind of reference image dio.

Finley002 finishes his Hera...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 17 2017
"So here she is you guys. My completed Hera (minus any paint touch-ups that will be done at a later date...) in addition to the face decals, I have implemented ball-jointed shoulders and knees as well as swivel wrists. It was a frightening endeavor since I wasn't 100 percent confident on the outcome. So during the operation, I had the Hera figure in the Amazon cart ready to replace one of my daughters favorite figures. I simply didn't have the courage to attempt jointed elbows. I didn't have any joints small enough the retain the aesthetic nature of her tiny elbows. Even the smallest joints would have enlarged her elbow to "bulbous" proportions... so I'll hold off for now."

That is just the start of his most excellent description and image review you can see at the aforementioned link.

"Heres a few wips I did last year Jan-Dec 2016 that I never posted here. They are all finished now of course but all of my customs are temporarily in boxes :-[ so until they are back on shelves and I can take updated pics, here are a couple I really dig from the animated series clone wars and rebels which are two very big interests of mine. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for looking

1)Luke Skywalker (Fan Fiction character of what I imagine Luke looking like if he were in Rebels cartoon) I realized that his belt and lower shirt was in backwards its since been fixed. Lol

2) Minister Maketh Tua (StarWars rebels)
3) young Boba Fett in mandalorian armor ( clone wars lost reels)
4) Jocasta Nu ( clone wars jedi librarian)"

All are fantastic! I like seeing all the homage being paid to Jocastu Nu!

Legion078 talks diorama plants...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, January 16 2017
"So let's talk about artificial plants! Why? Because I think it's worth it! You might have noticed that it can be quite hard to find suitable material like (artificial) plants for your dioramas. That's why I would like to talk about this here!

During my time as exchange student in Michigan my host mother took me to Hobby Lobby a couple times. I can only remember this store as source of artificial plants. Most of them were not suitable for model building though, but more for decoration purposes. The second disadvantage was that Hobby Lobby or similar craft stores are not located in every city in the U.S. - for all of you living in the U.S. you might have better sources for model building supplies (like dollar stores maybe?)."

It is a nice pictoral resource base to get started. Stay tuned as I will research this myself and get you some links to get your supplied!

JDeck shares new Bandai News...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 13 2017
"Sweet! Bandai is making a TIE fighter/TIE advanced two pack in their non specific scale line, basically an F-toys remake. I hope it comes out to 1/144, so it will match the X-Wing and Y-wing. Either way, they are really detailed.

I also came across a picture of a possible long-term lineup in the F-toys remake line. I can't say it's 100% real. As we all know, not everything on the Internet is true. But it looks authentic. Death star, AT-AT and Super Star Destroyer would be awesome. I wouldn't mind having the prequel kits either.

Also, details are out on 1/144 TIE striker, U-wing and imperial hover tank combo. The cost is 2,376 JPY, so about 20 USD give or take. Those will be cool."

I always appreciate JDeck keeping us aware of new model and ship news!

Ajunta Pall is back with a great Pong Krell!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, January 12 2017
"Next up is a project i did last year of Pong Krell and the 501st legion. Ive seen a few other customizers do this character using the Goro base but i didnt go that route with these two due to how inaccessible those base figures are and their after market price. So i made two at the same time, one for a friend and the other for myself. This project was very tedious and forced me to up my sculpting game a whole 10 notches lol however im very pleased with how they both turned out and so was my buddy.

1) Pong Krell -wip picks of process
2) Pong Krell and 501st legion
"

Now that looks like one fantastic custom!

Ron Hembling finishes a new Deathtrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 11 2017
"Hi All,

Dio is done.

Recipe

Figures - are from Bandai and built straight out of the box and I added stockings to the joints.

Base -is from the dewback kit from stannarts but at the moment his website is down. I painted the whole base matt black and then painted it with artist paint Slate. I then mixed spakfilla and sand and added black and a little white and applied to the base.

Once dry I then dry brushed the rocks with various shades of grey until I was happy with the look. I then used model railway static grass and once dry I used grass tufts from miniNatur and applied them using super glue.

Ron"

He is showing us a new line of toys for Kong: Skull Island:

"Lanard, maker of "The Corps!", will be relasing their first ever licensed line this year!

They have the master toy license for the upcoming "Kong: Skull Island" film. While all of the vehicles appear to be reissues of previous "The Corps!" releases, and the main figures only have new actor likeness heads, the real beauty of the line lies in the creatures of Skull Island.

I plan on getting at least 6 of the spiders, 6 of the pterodactyls, 2 of the weird dinos and the full sized Kong.

Darth Daddy creates a TCW Jocasta Nu...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 10 2017
"My last figure is one that I have been wanting to wrap up a while now. Originally we were under the impression that all we had to do was make the CW Darth Sidious headcast from our mold, sculpt some hair onto it, and then add it to the Brian's Toys "Jocasta Nu" exclusive action figure.

While we did do just that, we learned very quickly that there was too much of "Palpatine" in the headsculpt, and we needed to do more to the face sculpt than we had originally anticipated. By the time we finished the figure, we had resculpted the entire head except for her nose. We sunk in the hollows of her cheeks, accentuated her prominent cheekbones, refashioned her chin to remove the cleft, and make it more pointy to reflect her on screen appearance. In the end, we couldn't be happier. She looks great on the shelf alongside the other Jedi. We dedicated this figure to the actress who played Jocasta Nu in the Prequels, Alethea McGrath, who died last February at the age of 96."

Now talk about a nice tribute! Make sure you scroll around as he has added more work to some of his existing customs.

I still need to add some minor details to the helmets and weapons and then I can give it a matt spray and the take my usual pics.

Ron Hembling finishes up a connecting Shoretrooper Mini-Dio!
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, January 6 2017
"Hi All,

I figured that I would put the last three Shoretroopers onto bases so I made three so that they can connect together. I also decided to make them into ranks so I did a normal solder, sergeant and officer.

Recipe

Figures - are from the Hasbro BS 3-3/4" line and I just put them into the pose I like and super glued their joints then used plasticine to cover what little areas there was to cover and once dry I covered the cloth area's with tissue paper.

Base - the bases are thick balsa wood cut to shape and then I cut and sanded out the edges to give it a small drop, I then used a mix of spakfilla and sand and covered the bases.

Once dry I made the waves using Woodland Scenics Water Effects and Realistic Water, I used small tufts of grass from company called miniNatur and the plants were from JoeFix Studious and the clumps of small bushes and static grass are from model railway materials.

The palm trees were done by using thin branches from the garden and then I wrapped string around them and then covered then in tissue paper. The palm leaves I picked up from the local craft store and repainted them and gave them washes and then cut the end and drilled holes it the trunk and glued them inplace.

Ron"

This just makes so much sense to me. I like how they can exist by themselves or go together to make a larger dio. Of course why should great stuff like this surprise me out of Ron?

Starchaser is back with a custom figure update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, January 4 2017
"I had a few hours of downtime during the holidays and was able to finish up a couple of customs after not having time to work on anything for weeks. First up is a Neimoidian remote gunner. Neimoidians have a reputation for cowardice, but not all members of the species are afraid of war. Hailing from Enarc, Gane Trebb showed an unusual interest in military history and the heroic stories of other cultures. He put his natural aptitude for electronics and mechanics and what he learned about combat together and joined a mercenary group, first as a mechanic and eventually as a technician and operator for a variety of remote control weapons and vehicles."

You can read the full recipe at the aforementioned link. I can remember when Neimoidians were common on the pegs. I can remember seeing one for a long while now!

Wow, take a look at that and tell me it doesn't give you the shivers. I must say, this is a version of Kylo we could definitely see in the future. Reminds me of the visage of an old black and white film of Dracula I remember seeing years ago that gave me the willies!

As you can see they are listing some of the great new Imperial Helmets we saw in Rogue One. Tell me that Deathtrooper wouldn't look great anywhere in your collection or domicile for that matter!

Ron Hembling completes a new Deathtrooper Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"Hi All,

Just an easy one today, I got a 3-3/4" Deathtrooper for xmas and decided to do put him on a dio.

Recipe

Figure - Hasbro's 3-3/4" Black Series figure as usual I glued the joints and then puttied them up. I painted the whole figure Vallejo's Matt Black and weathered the area's that needed and let it to dry. Once the base was done and the figure was secured to it I gave it a spary of Krylon Matt Spray and then gave the armour, eye len's and chin lights a coat of Woodland Scenics Realistic Water to give them the gloss and glow they needed.

Base - is a piece of thick balsa wood and I used a 70/0 mix of sand and spakfilla and applied it to the base and before it dried I secured the figure and the small equipment box made from plastic card to the base. Once dry I painted the base Vallejo's Matt black and the dry brushed it with Vallejo's Dark brown and then added small grass tufts from a company called miniNatur .

Ron"

It is amazing to see what he can turn a Hasbro Action Figure into!

Bubba Vader shows us a custom vehicle WIP...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"I found this really cool Indiana Jones Jungle Cutter locally and thougt it was super cool, but not quite sure how to make it a Star Wars Vehicle:

However after watching RO Jedah scene, it occurred to me that the Empire would need ground clearing equipment for urban areas. Thus the Imperial Urban Grinder was born:

Structurally, it is pretty much there, but it needs to be painted in a more Imperial color scheme. The grab crane is fully functional and it in fact from a Hotwheels Death Star carrier."

Looks like it will work in the SW Verse to me!

Bubba Vader shares his adventures in molding and casting...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"The good thing about the Oyumaru material is that it is reusable. For example, I felt the third part of the Sabine 3 part mold was not good enough, so I just recast that part of the mold very easily(with the same piece), at the same time I spot molded pouches, holsters, and chest and gauntlets in seconds. I did end up using too much molding materials on several parts, which resulted in me using too much casting material (too thick), but they are easily redone or use less material."

It is pretty cool to see what results he is achieving.

That Foxtrot Delta is a class act!

Our friends at Yakface share news of a Black Series AT-ST...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
Looks like Hasbro is pulling the Wal-Mart AT-ST back out of retirement and plugging in an AT-ST Driver. This was evidently found at Wal-Mart in the past few days. It sure makes sense to me.

I sure hope they didn't take the articulation out of it!

Jodo gives us a new chapter of Era of Darkness...

Kevin Watkins creates a TOR Trooper...

I am reminded this is one of the offerings Hasbro is gonna bring back out of the vault here in a bit in the Black Series Line. Kevin sure does create a much nicer version though.

Darth Daddy is back with a Rebels Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"Here is another custom from Star Wars Rebels. This was an action figure of one of the newest villains featured on the Star Wars Rebels animated TV series. She was created using a Force Unleashed Juno Eclipse action figure with the head and legs of an Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Irina Spalko action figure that were resculpted and modified.

Once we saw her square off against Sabine in the episode Antilles Extraction, we knew we wanted to add her to the Rebels collection.

Arihnda Pryce was a female human who served as governor of the Lothal sector fourteen years after the rise of the Galactic Empire. She was, at times, absent from Lothal, and Minister Maketh Tua would directly govern in her absence."

She looks spot on to me!

Stan finishes off Bib Fortuna...

"Thanks everyone , this was a tough one to do! SA Bib Fortuna, readjusted bottom lip, new paint apps. Custom velvet soft goods, sculpted a new chest armor, fully articulated, soft good skirt."

His results are awesome!

Ron Hembling finishes his Thunderbird 2 Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"Hi All,

Here are the usual pics and last dio for the year and I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and see you all in 2017.

Recipe

TB2 - is from Vivid and was given a sanding in area's that needed it and then it was given a wash using Vallejo's Olive Drab to darken the hull. I then gave the panel lines a wash of Vallejo's Matt black and retouched up the white numbering and lettering using Vallejo's Flat White.

I then measured some plastic tube and cut them all to length and superglued them to the under carriage and the attached it to the base, I then used cotton wool to make the smoke and then used pastel chalks to give it some grey in it.

Base - is four Bandai Star Wars kit bases and then I added balsa wood to the edges, I then used spakfilla for the start of the ground work. I then used dirt form the garden and the grass is model railway static grass and the shrubs are again from model railway shrubs.

Ron"

With a 2016 that was that great for Ron in regards to customizing I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for him!

Stenhunter repaints a Shoretrooper...

"Well it has been some time since I last painted a figure.. hasn't it? Anyways.. as a birthday gift to myself I picked up one of the Scarif Shoretroopers.. found a cool costume reference that was in the movie, but not on shelves and repainted..

I have the before, the reference, comparison and some detail..."

Wow, it has been awhile but you sure don't have any rust Stenhunter!

JDeck finishes his WW2 AT-ACT!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"I'd say this project is done. First I sanded it slightly using ultra fine wet sand film. Then I added a sand yellow wash, then a black wash. Thats all you need at this scale, if it were bigger I would have done some chipping, and so forth. I added the decals, I just used the ones that I liked, they aren't exactly matching. Then I gave it two coats of matte clear. I like the way it turned out. I might have to do more WW2 mashups using the Revell AT-ACT kit in the future."

Talk about turning out great. He has done a lot of WW2 Mashups that I have liked, but this might be my favorite of his projects in this genre.

Finley002 figures out the eye decals...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, January 3 2017
"Well... the experiment continues. So I removed skintone from around the eyes and it seemed to improve the look a great deal. As you can see with Han, I did have to pre-paint the whites of the eyes in order to make the decals "pop." And while I do think that this method has the potential of making figures more accurate, it does have some severe drawbacks. Figures like Ahsoka could benefit greatly from these decals (especially since that initial figure was woefully lacking), and my whole purpose for this endeavor was to see if this method would help me find an EASIER way to create good looking eyes for figures. But it seems as though it's just a DIFFERENT kind of difficult..."

He goes on to describe the process of how to get you eye decals on correctly. Still doesn't his Ahsoka look great!

Ron Hembling finishes his Look Sir Droid Dio...

What can I say Ron is on fire right now. I don't think there is any custom project he can't take on!
