TFA 6" Scale TIE Fighter with Pilot
« on: July 11, 2015, 05:19:28 AM »
So what you folks think about this six inch offering?

I also cropped that huge pic a bit so we could better see the TIE Pilot.

This whole thing is supposed to retail for $170 and I don't see how I can't get it. Perhaps as much to support vehicles in this scale right along with what I am gonna try to limit to just a First Order Trooper Expansion to my collection (I know probably a stupid decision on my part, but that First Order Stormy is awesome)!

That TIE is insane. I literally said to myself "Who has room for that?" haha. They should make an AT-AT in that size. I would ride that thing to work.

Personally I feel anything bigger than studio scale is over doing it. 3.75" would have been sufficient. This has to be massive, of course they had to make something over the top for comic con.   Are the wings supposed to be that short, or is it like the old POTF TIE fighter with the really short wings.

I am assuming the wings are probably not totally screen accurate do to the size of the thing.

It seems like this will only see limited release when Force Friday hits too.

I'm simply not sure about this model, having DID figures and vehicles already I know how quickly you use up space and those figures are made as  historically accurate as possible. I've not seen any of the 1/6th scale Star Wars in real life yet, only on pages like this but it seems a bit basic for the price, maybe after seeing the film I'd want one but just tagging on a few guns where there's limited movement doesn't seem sensible, your not going to shoot the wings off are you?

More for pose than play with the tie is my take.
It looks pretty good, especially on the inside where there is good control detail for pilot and gunner.
I haven't tried fitting the pilot in yet. Seems like the quality we expected in the 3 3/4 line of vehicles with better materials and slightly better paint apps.
I took a few pics of the pilot to start.
His plastic seems on par with the other recent offerings of this scale with pretty good paint apps. I can't tell if it's the material, the blister shape, or the design that makes him look a bit bow legged coming out of the box. He is fairly arty though.

And while the paint apps look good, my example had
This pretty shoddy looking glue job where the air box piece with the hose attaches to the upper torso.

That's messy superglue cure haze. I can see it from a mile away. They may use the accelerator like I do.

You collectors may want to inspect the pilot through the blister prior to purchase.

Thanks for alerting us to this Clint. That is way too much money to get a shotty figure like that.

If you want to do a full review I will get it focused at the top of the review section on the main page.

Took some pics of the pilot in his two man cockpit to show you guys the interior detail before I put it up for display.

This is what the 3 3/4 vehicles should be like, as far as detail and materials used.
