This is oppressive occupation.  The stormtrooper doesn't feel like walking around the field, so he goes right through it, trampling the farmer's crops and livelihood.

They are 1:18! 

It would be too big at 1:12.  Each square on the board will already be 5 inches due to Vader and Palpatine's bases being 3.5 inch diameter. 

Eventually I'm going to do a Republic and Separatist chess board as well.  And Greivous, Droidekas, Senate Guards, and Magna Guards have 3.5 inch bases as well.

Rebel Alliance pawns complete!

Rebel pawns have the same groundwork since they are a single commando team.  They will face Imperial pawns, each with different groundwork representing different missions/planets.
