Well, it's looks as though customizing comes easy enough for you.  They look great!  Really diggin' the Darth Maul.

The paint is designed to work better with the joints to avoid scraping so it's different than most designs slightly.

What paint did you use and what's your technique?  Prep work to keep ball joints from chipping is arduous.

Sjefke.. I use p3 paints. They are nice and lay down smooth so that helps to not build up a rough, brush stroke showing, surface. What I did was to use the base black from the venom figure's joints as the basis of the tattoo design. As opposed to all the work you mentioned I left them alone and incorporated them into the design. I shaved down the shoulder to upper arm but that's it. I hate sanding down joints ...I actually need to learn more about that

So I used pieces from metal models that I've abandoned and tried to make a chrome trooper prototype. it took parts from 3 different models and it was entirely designed on the fly. Trying to find the right piece was usually the biggest challenge. Glad I finally found a use for those impossible models..
