ThisIsRed5's 6" customs
« on: November 22, 2014, 06:31:16 PM »
Hey gang.. This is my first post. A few months ago someone showed me the Star Wars black series 6" figures. I hadn't bought a toy since I was a kid, but I knew I needed a few. I took to customizing quickly and someone pointed me to your incredible community. So without rambling on..here are my first attempts at a few characters. I appreciate criticism and tips..thanks

I'll figure out the format here soon I'm sure.. But here's my second figure and my first attempt at swapping parts. I swapped some Venom parts with a sand trooper. I sanded down some of the spikes and sculpted out a stormtrooper style chest.

They look good to me. The sandtrooper custom is my favorite. Don't sweat too much I had trouble posting pics when I started.

Hi there, ThisIsRed5, Smeagol92055, moderator here. Sometimes the preview images get turned around on the page, but if you'll click them you'll see the full-sized image is actually facing the right direction. It's just one of BBCode's little idiosyncrasies!
I have altered the action figure. Pray I don't alter it further.

First off thank you for your kind comments about ISY. And welcome!

Second, your first post in on the front page. I like that Mando color scheme.

And third it is not your fault with the attachment option with your images. I am working on it so they display properly. We upgraded our forums a few months back and  there have been some tweaks. Please also note there is another way to display your images directly into your post with the [img] tag. Any of our moderators can walk you through that method if you would like.

Once again welcome and thank you for sharing your work.

Thanks for the nice welcome! The custom above is my first character and my first major sculpt. The base was a Venom that I swapped legs with a SandTrooper and I wasn't sure what to do with. I tried my hand at sculpting out some parts and slowly he started coming together. His gas mask is the lower part of a stormtrooper helmet that I molded, The straps are molded from the under side of a speeder bike and The goggles are hand made. The vest still allows for mobility in the torso and I sculpted out a few extra pouches. The boots are a little clunky but the skinny trooper legs needed some bulk. I had no idea I could pull it off and this is the piece that really hooked me onto customizing. He needs a name ...

Below (hopefully...still figuring out how this format works) is my Jedi Leia Solo. I was so disappointed that they went for the "slave" look for her first 6". She's one of my favorite characters so I wanted to make her ready to take on the galaxy as a Jedi. I looked up a pattern for the robe and sculpted out the belt and hair buns.

Darth Maul custom. The head started as a Gold Dust wwe basic figure. I shaved down parts and added here and there. The body is a marvel legends Agent Venom. His skirt is part of the halo master cloak and also strips of an old silk tie that I coated w epoxy. The paint is designed to work better with the joints to avoid scraping so it's different than most designs slightly.
Any critique is encouraged. Thanks for looking
