Yeah I see where you are going with the tree's and the first one looks excellent.

Ron
Thanks Ron!  Yeah man I have several different  diameter dowels, and many different types of foliage. Some I got from joefix, some from a more local manufacturer.  I think it's more realistic to have a broad range of biodiversity, and trees of different heights.

JDeck, this is looking great so far. Thanks for the updates showing your process as well as the progress. I love the ideas you have shared about ways to do ground cover - those are really helpful. I look forward to seeing more of your work on this project.

Medium sized pine trees.

Here is another type of tree you can make. I took a dowel rod and carved it into a spear. Then I spray painted it using rust-oleum camo brown. I like that because it dries very flat in color, no gloss at all. Then I drilled tiny holes with a finger drill. Then I took some preserved/dyed seamoss dipped the ends in woodglue and stuck them in the holes. They are taking me about an hour each to make, it's going to be a long day.  I want to get all the trees and some bushes done before I start on the terrain.

Wow, these trees look very similar to the original ones in the Redwoods/Endor! I am amazed by the detail and how great they fill up the background! Thanks for all the details and pictures! I didn't know "J. Peddinghaus Zinnfiguren" before and just found out that it's actually a German brand!  :)

Thank you Legion! Yeah  J. Peddinghaus Zinnfiguren has great products, I assumed it was a central European company, but a local distributor close to my area sells them on ebay. Germany and Australia make the best diorama supplies. Here in the U.S we just have model train products, not ideal for this scale.

Thank you Mr. Jedi! Tree making used to be very intimidating to me, but it really is simple.

Forest looks great!  I wonder how a wire wheel on a drill would do for rapid bark texturing?  Eye protection a must.

Thanks Tamer! I think ill make a simple background using poster board  spray paint and tree limbs. To fill the gaps.

Thanks Jaeger! Ill have to try that out, I have a wire wheel attachment for my dremel, and I need one more big tree.
