The TIE base diorama looks great.
I like the landing light and the maintenance sled.

Excellent work.
Thank you. Yeah I enjoy kitbashing bits together. Its like a puzzle with no paticular answer.

Thank you. The cool thing about these tiles is, I can expand. Possibly make another for either Vader's TIE or regular TIE. and i can connect them all together. Just need more tiles.

Endor AT-AT. Pt.1: The lighting.
« Reply #454 on: March 10, 2018, 07:06:17 PM »
I was sitting thinking about what my next little project should be. I'm going on vaccation in a couple of weeks, so I have not much time or money. I remembered I have a Bandai AT-AT that needs TLC. I kind of want to make an Endor AT. I have a few LEDs I can use. I'm just in the mocking up stage. Disassembling, drilling holes running wires. That's the awesome thing about these snap kits, you can take them apart very easily. I have a few ideas,  I'm going to put the switch under the removable panel, and the battery fits well inside the body cavity. I just have to drill holes and run wires through the neck. Then pull it all apart and paint it. Then put it all together again.

(Edit) I ran the wires through the body. I still need to install the switch and trim the wires. If my old shop teacher saw this he'd say it looks like a damn blown up spaghetti factory. Lol.

The last picture is a comparison from the original AT-AT and the model with a blue filter. I know they used a blue filter for the movie. Perhaps with a slightly more blueish tint to the paint. I think I have just the right shade already. I'll probably start on that tomorrow.

Thank you Ron. Meybe when I come back I will make a Dio for it.

Thank you Tamer. I was looking through my paints and every thing I have is either too dark or too light. So I just went ahead and ordered a can of British grey, its just the right amount of blue in it.

While I'm waiting for paint, I started fooling around with the landing platform section. I shaped a sheet of styrene with boiling water, reinforced it, and gave it some panels. Then I started on the gantry/ walkway thing. I just formed the supports. Right now I just tacked them in place, I may tweek it a bit. There is a lot of work to be done. I just need to order some open web trusses. The rest I already have the materials.

Thank you Tamero. I worked on it slightly but there's not much I can do until I get the trusses.

JDeck, that landing platform is shaping up nicely. I look forward to the final product. Would you be willing to show us a picture of the backside of the platform? I'm taking notes:)

Yes. I think I will. Just inside the hallway, about 6 leds. 2 on the outside 1/3 up the tower. Possibly the 2 red lights at the top end of the hallway.  I had a crazy idea to light all of those tiny lights on the tower with fiber optics, but no. No way man. Lol.  So I'll order them meybe when I get back from europe.
