JDeck's non Star Wars figures.
« on: January 15, 2020, 04:09:24 PM »
I started on my  armoured Usagi Yojimbo custom. The base is Articulated icons Undying Ronin. I started sculpting over the Ninja head the figure came with using green stuff. I'm used to miliput, but greenstuff is good, a little different but good. I started sculpting the ears, and I made them to be removable in order to fit on the Kabuto. I decided on the ornament with the antlers, because it's like a jackalope. Then I started on the Sashimono banner. It's made of bamboo skewers and aluminum foil.  I utilized the quiver that comes with the figure to attach pole to the figure. I still have a lot sculpting and painting to do, but that's what I'm working on.

I'm pretty much done with this Usagi Yojimbo figure. I just added some hair sculpting, I wanted to add more but it would have made the helmet unwearable. Then black base coat and dry rush. I painted the Sashimono banner with Usagi's clan symbol and also added the symbol to the helmet. I don't think I'll paint the armor, I like it brown instead of blue.

Hey that's brilliant! Fantastic work on the sculpt, JD! Really like the armour of this Ninja! The detail of the banner is stunning, too! You really did a thorough job to kick this new theme off!

Nice figure.  When I first saw the helmeted version I though you had made Samurai Cat (not sure if you are familiar with that character).  Anyhow, very nice job on the more realistic version of the character.

Usagi looks really good. You did a great job with the sculpting work and the bamboo/foil trick is a really great idea.
