Hasbro 2009 build a diorama contest
« on: July 26, 2009, 12:06:47 PM »
We dont already have a thread up for this yet, do we?

Details of this contest were revealed during SDCC. I know that the grand prize is $1000 worth of star wars toys and your dio will be shown at celebration 5. Can someone list the dates and rules for me? I believe that your dio must use at least 5 hasbro figures and possibly portray a scene from one of the movies or tv shows?

Anyway, this incredible diorama display was constructed and shown at SDCC where the details of the contest were announced.

These great images are thanks to sirsteve'sguide.com

Quoted directly from Hasbro Contest Site

"It's Easy - Here's How It Works
Create a Star Wars Scene: Using a minimum of 5 Hasbro Star Wars figures (there is no maximum) and terrain of your own creation, build the most creative Star Wars scene you can.

Click on each image to enlarge.

Take Photos: Once you are done, take up to 4 photos of your scene.

Send Your Photos to Hasbro: Click on the "Enter Now" button below to send us your photos no later than 11:59pm on September 25, 2009.

Official Judging: After receiving all entries, Hasbro will select the top five scenes based on authenticity, best use of figures and vehicles, and creativity & dramatic effect. All five will be displayed right here on the Hasbro Star Wars website starting on November 2.

The grand prize winner, who will be selected by a panel judges, including Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilm and Derryl Depriest of Hasbro, will receive over $1000 in Hasbro Star Wars toys and have their scene displayed at the next Star Wars Celebration!

Your Vote: Don't let our panel have all the fun in selecting their favorite! Cast your vote for the "Fan Favorite" scene. From November 2 through November 16 you can vote online at starwars.hasbro.com for your favorite. Not only will the Fan Favorite winner claim ultimate Star Wars bragging rights, but their creation will also be displayed at the next Star Wars Celebration.

Some important things to keep in mind:
Only Hasbro toys, and terrain of your own making can be used in the scenes. Any use of 2nd or 3rd party intellectual property is prohibited. Examples include:
Using printed Star Wars images from the internet or other sources as components to your scene
Using non-Hasbro Star Wars branded products in your scene
No digital enhancements of any kind can be used to alter photos taken of your creation.
Read through the official contest rules.
Have FUN!
All winners will be announced on November 20, 2009."

It is a javascript link and I notice it doesn't load from the fp news story. Let me see if I can find an html load url.

http://hasbro.promotions.com/starwars/page.do?page=dob.html

That is the enter button.

Thanks for that info, boss! I will be working on a dio for this contest which you, Shawn, will appreciate. I'm not planning on a big one but want to make it special. As it is a contest that exists to promote Hasbro figures and vehicles, I won't be making any paint apps or part swaps as I had originally planned for this project.
My dio in question was originally going to be produced to tease poor Tamer. Details will start to emerge  sometime this week, as I find time.

I think that it's Narceron's holiday project that has taken all of your store's snowtroopers, my friend.
No, the project I have in mind will not contain any imperials or clones nor even mandos, believe it or not.

Here are a couple more shots of that sdcc floor display dio.

Yes, they did hint at an overseas location eventually. I figure it would be Australia if it were overseas. I am wondering about that rumor we heard about Baltimore last year. I don't think they have ever done East Coast before. Still, the population base sure does favor the NorthEast.
