Well now that is a nice way to get a different Vos. I still saw some of these on the pegs the other day in an out of the way Wal-Mart. I will get this on the front page sometime today.

I was pleasantly surprised the TVC head fits on the body and isn't too big for it!

Darth Tenebrous, Darth Plagueis’ master. The only reference image I’ve seen comes from the Star Wars Insider short story by Matthew Stover. I like that design, and this figure is clearly inspired by it, but I also wanted to try to put my own spin on him. For instance, I didn’t like the idea that his torso was entirely covered by armor. Also, shoulder pads just look awesome.

I also gave him unique forearm and foot armor.

That looks great. I too enjoyed that shorty story in SW Insider. Off to share.

Nice work, Dom. Really like the paint apps on Tenebrous' head. And shoulder pads are da bomb  ;D

Thanks. It's from a 30th anniversary collection Luke. I've seen some other Obi-Wan customs in this style since I made mine that look amazing. If I had more time I might consider remaking this figure.

Rebels customizing contest entry
« Reply #128 on: April 22, 2014, 07:28:02 PM »
Here's my entry for the Rebels customizing contest. I have no idea what type of characters we'll see, but it looks like we'll get grittier characters, fewer Force users, etc. So, I've decided to create a mechanic. He's a Cerean mechanic, slightly elderly, used to work for a Separatist engineering unit until the war ended. He now just picks up odd jobs where he can.

I've always liked the Cerean race. There's something that looks inherently wise in their faces. I decided to make this guy look like he didn't have a set uniform, something resembling mechanics overalls. I also gave him a do-rag to clean up all the grease he deals with.

Darth Nihilus, one of my favorite Sith Lords. Unfortunately, the Hasbro figure is too short and doesn’t capture the character. I used a plastic skirt, a longer cloak, and make the figure taller. I experimented with soft goods skirts but they just didn't look convincing. If you've played the game, Nihilus actually tends to stand very erect and doesn't bend much, so I think the plastic look fits.
