The detail work on Darth Desolous really upped the quality of this figure. Feel the dark side within him, I do.

Thanks. I actually made that particular figure three years ago, one of my first customs (or at least the first I liked enough to actually display). But since then I've become a big fan of paint washes and realized I hadn't done any on that figure. I had also initially used a plastic cape rather than cloth, which I quickly fixed.

Darth Traya

Darth Traya from KOTOR II, one of the most complex characters in Star Wars. While Darth Vader represents “daddy issues” in Star Wars, Star Wars has not had many character that get at “mommy issues.” Darth Traya complex relationship with the Jedi Exile makes it unclear if she’s really a villain or just taking “tough love” to new extremes:

Darth Bandon

Here's my entry for the Kit-Bash contest. Darth Bandon, Darth Malak's Sith Apprentice from KOTOR.

Darth Bandon

The recipe is:

TVC Starkiller torso, arms, legs, chest armor, belt
Darth Vader skirt
mid-length plastic skirt cut off Revan cloak
TVC bald Endor Rebel trooper head
Sidious lightsaber
No idea about those hands

Since this was a no-paint contest, I've entered him as is, but I might make a small touch up later to paint over the Imperial insignias on his arms (that's why I've raised his arms in this photo). Still, even after doing that, it'll be a pretty minimal amount of paint.

Thanks. Seeing Nihilus in that photo though, I realized just how much I don't like the original figure, so I went back and made a new version that I think better captures the character in the game. I'll post photos soon.  DH

More soft goods perhaps? Now you have me curious!

Traya looks fantastic.
The soft goods cloak fits perfectly.

Actually, the opposite in some ways. I use a plastic skirt, a longer cloak, and make the figure taller. I experimented with soft goods skirts but they just didn't look convincing. If you've played the game, Nihilus actually tends to stand very erect and doesn't bend much, so I think the plastic look fits. Here's a preview:

I haven't decided yet if I actually like the robes that I chose, with the different textures in the front. I might change or cover that late.

Dark Empire Leia
« Reply #102 on: March 31, 2014, 10:07:14 PM »
Hasbro released a Dark Empire Leia during the POTF II line, but it needs an updated. I couldn’t find great matches for her legs and shirt, so it's still a glorified 5POA figure (well, 7 including new wrists and a new ball-jointed head). I at least wanted to give her a better face and head sculpt:

(with comic pack Dark Empire Luke Skywalker)

Recipe:
-   TVC Slave Leia face, wrists, and hands;
-   Garindan cloak

I barely recognize the Slave Leia head.  The Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Penelope Cruz figure might work for the legs.  At least it had hinged knees and elbows.
