GI Joe Rise of Cobra collection
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:38:16 PM »
I took these shots of some of the new ROC items that were on the shelves at my local TRU.
The figures look pretty cool but I need to open one or two to see how the articulation is. The two that I picked up, "snake eyes, and Firefly", came with some neat accessories.

I saw a lot of these, and I'm having a HARD time not picking some of them up.  That Night Raven isn't bad priced, and the figs are about normal.  They look really nice, but I want to see how they are also before I start buying any.  That Ice Viper looks sweet!  And of course, the PIT is AWESOME!

Here is a couple of shots of that Firefly fig that I bought today. I still haven't opened him up yet. I will do that and shoot some shots of it tomorrow.

The old grey cammo Firefly used to be one of my favorite GI  Joe toys figure wise. solid top ten pick from the original SA figures.
I used to get so mad when the" inevitable" happened and the thumb broke off of one then both hands.
Lots of ninja fights and lots of people losing digits and other body parts.
But they were the best for customising and bodypart swaps since they were all pretty much made the same back in the 80'sand up to the 90's.
If only I had a small percentage of all my past toys and collectibles now.....
They sure are all nice looking and i want to see the movie no matter how bad it is.
Cant be any worse than "Titanic"...

Yep, firefly was one of my old favorites, also. Him and Storm Shadow. You are not the only one who is missing your old toys. Star Wars, GI Joes, and Micronauts. Man, I had a bunch of em.

I had so many ninjas and snake-eyes and fireflys and vipers and just enormous army builder stuff when i was a kid and most from local yard sales and then frankenstein together better stuff or fix a fig back to original using 2 jacked up figs...
or blow them up with firecrackers or bottlerockets or roman candles. if you put enough large bottle rockets you could make the old joe and cobra planes like the rattler and skystriker actually launch off of a roof and fly for a while....
it either went to pieces upon landing or had outrageous missile lock and explosion before hitting the ground.
and the Wonderbread bag parachutes were soo coool tooo.
the wife wont let us on the roof any more.

This one is for the Joe guys out there,
I am going to write a little review of the new Firefly and Snakeeyes figures that I bought the other day.
First up, the pursuit snake eyes comes with a removable sleeveless trenchcoat, a samauri type sward and sheath that pegs into his back "rather loosely", a combat knife, an automatic rifle, a figure stand, a movable eye visor, a glock looking pistol,  and, of course, his trusty dog.

Detail onthe figure looks good but this one isnt my favorite, of special note, the articulation is superarty except for his legs which have no side to side pivot except at the ankles. The knees are however, double jointed above and below the knee which makes this figure that much more posable.

Now for a little review of my favorite ROC fig, thus far, Firefly.
This fig is a TRU exclusive and features the greatest amount of cool accessories that I have found packaged with a Joe figure, to date.

As a Cobra Saboteur and explosives specialist, Firefly certainly comes equipped for the job and includes:
One block of plastic explosive with timer detail, one large Rambo looking knife, one set of multipurpose pliers, one large mag-light, one ww2 looking German gas can, one sling over the shoulder ammo pouch with nice detail and a hole on one side of the top that will contain one of his 4 smaller accessories, One large backpack that has a posable opoening top flap that has plenty of room to contain his other accessories and has a containing area on the outside of the pack which also works well for storage of 1 of three thinner accessories. He also includes his preferred weapon, the m.a.r.s. industries D57-B extreme environment electromagnetic rifle with an extra clip and yes, the clips on the rifle are interchangeable. His night vision painted close fitting goggles are removable, and he comes with a figure stand. He also comes with a clonewarsish large toy missle launcher.

Paint apps on the figure are nice as are the molded on details. He has a waist harness with a d-ring that would work nicely for a climbing-reppelling scenario.
He also has the same semi-super arty posability that the snake eyes figure has including those crazy double jointed knees.

I am very impressed with this one, folks. The only complaint would be that the backpack peg doesnt work very well with his back peg-hole.

For the custom guys here, you just can't beat all of the accessories that this fig has to offer. With this in mind, I picked up two more of them, yesterday.

That Firefly is AWESOME!  I've been resisting on buying these so far, but it's becoming harder and harder to stay away!

I picked up Ripcord last week.
 .
The articulation is great and with some modification it should make a good Swoop/Speeder jock.

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?
