Man! Bubba this stuff is superb! The use of the vintage playsets is simply the only way to go here. It creates that OT feel in a way that nothing else can. The updating and lighting is fantastic! To echo what a few have said, that lit-up sentry droid makes the whole piece for me. Such a simple thing that makes all the difference!

MORE PLEASE!!!!!

Agreed, this is so awesome! Love the textures you achieved on the walls and ceiling. The lighting really seals the deal, most impressive!

I like what you did here.....that is an interesting fix up to the old playset

Well, I am sure you are all aware by now that I prefer taking vintage playset parts and improving them...or at least I think improving them...lol. For this diorama playset, I started with an incomplete Creature Cantina base. I wanted to achieve a nice looking diorama but still with a playset vibe. The roof, walls, and dome cap easily slide apart.

Closer shot of Cantina interior to view the details. You can see the LED lights and Air Conditioning Unit.

Shot is from a patron perspective. Tried to show you in the Cantina from Blue Snag's point of view.

Thanks for looking.

My son was tired of some of his favorite modern figures sitting on a plain shelf, so we decided to make some small 8"x4" dio displays for him. I did not want to get too extravagent, so each took about a day to complete. These small dios are a great way to get your kids involved in creating dios. This particular plaster is very user friendly for sculpting.

Since we wanted to keep it simple, we had to have simple supplies: papertowel roll, 8"x4" foam for base, blocks of foam, Lightweight plaster, bandages, paint, printed cardboard backdrops, etc...

We started with the easiest: His Tusken Raiders on Tatooine. The backdrops are easily swapped out if he wants a change of scenery. They are held in place by modified paperclips.

Next we tackled some of his Hoth figures. I don't know if you can see them on the rear rock, but the icesicles are made of stretched hot glue.

We are both big fans of Battlefront video game, so we decided on a Mygeeto complete with a command post and barrier. The command post is made so a light can be added for effect. (I will install a small LED light to the base later, for now, I want to keep it simple.)

One of my son's favorite places on Battlefront is Geonosis

Now it was time for one of my favorite places - Dagobah

And finally we made a scene for his Ewoks. (Jessica just had to have Nippet in the last photo...ugh!)

All of those look awesome, your son must love them, but he probably love the bonding time more.

Brilliant as usual! Love them! I really need to get the hang of this size sort of dio! Very inspirational! I bet your son loved making and displaying his figures on these! It just makes them so much more alive and special! :)

Excellent idea for displays and as you said your kids get involved to which is a bonus, I also like the backdrops it gives the dios more depth.

Wow, what an awesome idea. Will you be my dad?

I like them all, but that Degobah one is hands down perfect.
