What non-SW lines work?
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:29:51 PM »
Surely we've found other things out there that work on our SW figs, yes?  What works as-is?  What works with a bit of touch-up?

I've got a BBI Elite Force modern Ranger sniper (w/ ghillie!) coming, as a trial.  I'll let y'all know how it works.

Probably not.  But I figured for a buck plus shipping, I could review the fig *and* get a new head to mold.  Then I can turn around and resell or trade him off.   8)

I hope the ghillie suit works for your sniper squad.

These arn't very good shots, Doc, but here is one page in my customs thread where you can find pics of a Ghillie cape that I had made for a figure using surgical gauze in place of tissue with the same technique I use to make the paper mache capes. I just painted it up and added some train diorama static grass to the back and it turned out pretty convincing. Perhaps we could do something like that for your sniper team.

Yeah, I like how that looks!!  I'm sure I'll revisit the Snipers w/ gauze later.  Then everyone can have backpacks and hoods, because I'll be able to mold the capes around them.

LOL - what other lines can we steal/borrow/cadge parts from to work on SW figs?

I think I've seen someone use parts and/or bodies from the Sahara figs, but them's rare now!

I've seen pirates of the caribean figs used.  I've seen tons of gi-joe figs use, I use some myself. They are just barely taller...

indiana jones figs

pretty much anything that is 3.75" figures will work.

Microman figures are popular too.  There are a specific set that alot of customizers use called the "microman: material force" line.  They are unpainted basically nude body sculpts in both male and female ranging in color.  They are hellishly expensive now though....

Xyber 9 figures work very well, if you can find any.  The heads are great for brand new characters, and the arms work decent as well.  The torso and legs are good as well.  Come to think about it, I think ALL of the parts work well.

I have the old man, he's ok.

I prefer those windracers from last summer for new clonewars characters. . .

here is one that was WIP til I messed him up :)
