I remember cake decorating sets that were sold back in the early '80s for R2-D2, vader, and Fett cakes; I think my mother made all three at one point for my brothers and I.  Your son should consider himself very lucky to have such a great dad!  I'll have to see if my son will be interested in that stuff or not!   :)

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

XRFIWR Customs - New Arc Trooper
« Reply #34 on: March 28, 2011, 06:52:57 PM »
After several clone coloring projects with the kids a few ideas came together to make this new Arc Trooper.  My 6 year old has named him "Lieutenant Blast", so that's what we're going with.  Some cool ideas I had on the leg paint were completely hidden under the kama, so that might get repeated on another figure.  It's pretty clear that I'm a big fan of the weathering with this guy, but I might not go as crazy on the next ones.

Very nice, on the front page. That weathering effect is really getting perfect imo.

Thanks all.  Much appreciated.  I'm especially happy with how the helmet turned out.  The Kama was actually the second one I did.  The first was much longer and didn't look right once it was on. Had to glue the pauldron down as it was one of the side slide on ones from a cheaper version of clone troopers I'd picked up off eBay and it wouldn't stay put.  Very happy with this one.

My boys love this guy and now have me doing some light weathering on their Rex, Cody, Waxer, and Boil figures before I look at another custom.  They also saw a great battle worn turbo tank on this site when we first discovered it, but I've been delaying that one until I get my mini rig finalized.

Re: XRFIWR 's Customs - Wolffe Pack Question
« Reply #44 on: April 01, 2011, 02:04:56 PM »
Here's an opinion question for everyone.  I have the packaged Sinker and Boost characters (brown painting), but don't yet have a Commander Wolffe.  My kids want to get Wolffe and have me make a couple Wolffe Pack ARF troopers, but there is a big debate about the colors we should use.

So the question is would you create ARF troopers in brown to match Sinker and Boost or use one of the Wolffe color schemes and update Sinker and Boost in the process?
