It really depends on how complex the design is, for really complex designs I use Illustrator for easy ones I either use Illustrator or GIMP, and thanks for the compliment of the Tantive IV, I'm still trying to come up with a design for your Shrike that do it justice.

Sweet! Don't be in any hurry man, I'm just honored you're making one with the Shrike.

I have never used Gimp.. I have several versions of Paint and Paint Shop Pro 9. It's pretty good- though i switch between That and Paint.Net for image manipulation.

Viper, your renders are getting better and better, I can see some of the Photoshop effects and you are beginning to use them more creatively.
