1/18th city
« on: September 02, 2010, 07:21:29 AM »
hey guys,

I haven't been around, but I'm back for a bit, :)

So for a while I have been wanting to build a mr rogers-esque neighborhood more my 1/18th scale figures, you know something for them to fight over and for the occasional dio.  Its also a goal of mine for the little boy(and girl) to eventually play in it with their toys...maybe they won't be raised on war and battle like I was, :)

So anyway, my first project: a bank, at least the front steps of a bank.  I have a few cop customs and more than a few villains to show it off with.

Yesterday, I disassembled and sanded the base model, today I primed, painted, and sealed the model, I just need to do some touch up and then reassembly.  This first project is a pretty simple one, but I figure it'll be good for getting me going.

I should be able to post pics by the weekend, I would post them, now, but I hate WIP shots with no follow up, :)

I'll go ahead and post...with another project.

A fairly simple repaint....the hardest part was sanding all the logos and stuff off, that took about two hours...and I didn't show the detail in this shot, doh!

I really think I saw someone do this exact thing a few years ago on one of the joeboards....counting the sanding of two hours, this took about 3 hours, :)

I still need to do touch up and detail painting, and finish the logo on the banner, :)

haha, its cool to have an eye for things with potential. I almost bought a Dora the explorer house at the flea market but I just don't have room for it. You have really turned it into a cool piece. I hope we get some pics where we can see it better.

LOL!  There's NO reason to be embarrassed about that, because that's incredible foresight!  IT looks good, so I can't wait to see this city come about!

The Polly Pocket line has loose detail bits that work in our scale, too.

I remember someone made a very very cool mall out of the bratz mall set...I just don't know who.

Oh well, by the time I'm done...I'll have...umm, well....3 bldgs, lol.

I need a grander plan, :)

You need a coffee-shop.  Or a bistro.
