4-LOM & Zuckuss Jedicon exclusive Bounty Hunter 2-pack
« on: April 14, 2010, 10:15:20 AM »

Hey everybody and welcome to my first written review!
Today for you I have a very special item to review: the Jedicon exclusive 4-LOM & Zuckuss bounty hunter 2-pack!
This 2-pack is the start of the Vintage collection which will feature both old and new figures in a vintage packaging.
These we're sold on Jedicon for 15 euros
I picked 2 of these up. 1 at www.toy-palace.com for 18.90 euros (excluding shipping) and 1 for 25 euros in Gadget Belgium (my local store).
To start off with this review, I will let you take a look at the packaging first.

This packaging is a box that can be opened so you can see the figure cards through a plastic window.
The lettering is all in a shiny silvery color apart from the white word "Vintage" and the small text at the side.
The Star Wars logo on the cards itself is in the same shiny lettering and in the logo we have the red "The Empire Strikes Back" title.
At the side we have a nice boxart of 4-LOM & Zuckuss with some text.

What is very awesome about the cards is that they have kept the switched names from the first releases of these figures where Zuckuss is named 4-LOM and vice versa to honor the original releases.

And here we can see the rest of the first wave of the Vintage collection.
The cards at the back ain't the card in which the figures will come but those are the original cards from back in the days with the original figures in there.
The new figures are standing in front of the packaging.

4-LOM
Now we're going to take a look at 4-LOM, which is named Zuckuss on the packaging.

4-LOM is a protocol droid that after an amount of time started to program himself for a life of crime.
On board of the luxury liner named the Kuari Princess he worked as a translator.
After an amount of time he began to steal from his passengers and later on he left the Kuari Princess for a life of crime.
Jabba the Hutt programmed him further into a bounty hunter and paired him to Zuckuss.

Detail and Features
4-LOM is a decent figure if it comes to detail.
He has shiny silver eyes and the wiring is the same silvery color aswell.
At the back he also has some sort of panel.
4-LOM comes with a blaster rifle which fits in his hand pretty well.
As in color he ain't too special, he has a black color rather than the copper/rusted color of the packaging which is a little disappointing

Articulation
4-LOM has:
- A ball jointed head and torso
- Ball hinged shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles
- Swivel hips and wrists

Conclusion
4-LOM is a very decent figure, very well articulated and detailed.
The only minor flaw is the color, but none the less, he is a very awesome figure

Zuckuss
Now it's time for Zuckuss to make his entry, he is named 4-LOM on the packaging.

Zuckuss is a successful Gand bounty hunter who was known for his tracking abilities.
He was a master in finding hidden quarry.
He had gotten his skills from both being trained as a findsman and his force-sensitivity, which made it possible for him to sense his prey.
Later on he was linked to 4-LOM who became his partner.

Detail and Features
Zuckuss is a very nice figure detail wise.
He gas some kind of brown strap around him together with a removable breath kit.
Zuckuss also comes with some sort of rifle which he sometimes finds difficult to hold in his hands.
The 2 colors here are white and brown, white for the figure and brown for the strap and the breath kit. He also has the same eye color as 4-LOM, shiny silver.
What I really like about this figure is his skirt. The skirt is not really softgoods but more of a soft material that feels alot like leather, hasbro did a good job on that one!

Articulation
Zuckuss has:
- A ball jointed head
- Ball hinged shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles
- Swivel hips, waist and wrists

Conclusion
Zuckuss is a very good figure.
He looks very cool, especially with the breath kit on.
The only minor flaw is the lack of color, but the skirt makes everything better!

Overall
This 2-pack is a very nice addition to any Star Wars collection, especially if you are a fan of the vintage figures.
The only minor part of these figures is the color, but the features make everything better.
I will give this 2-pack a deserved score of 8.5 out of 10!

Thanks for reading this review!

Thanks a lot for this great review Appo. The figures are much better than I expected.
Now I wish I had bought the pack at the Jedi Con but anyway excellent review mate.

I think I will make  a review of the 2008 Jedi Con exclusive shadow trooper pack if it's not reviewed yet.

also forgot to mention, these packs were sold on Jedi con for 15 euros. So 3.90 euros less than what they're being sold for on Toy Palace.
(modified in original post aswell)

The idea with the silver/gray paint apps to the droid (vintage Zuckuss, modern day 4-LOM) is to more closely match the look of the vintage figure.  For a more accurate paint scheme, hunt down yourself the 2007 release.

So the set actually gives you an extra untarnished card back for each figure?

Thanks for this review.  Great job!

yep, each figure has a card back, but if i'm not mistaken, the text on both the cardbacks of these figures is the same, so not the text from the original cardbacks or a small bio on the figures

I can't WAIT to get to CV and pick this up for myself.  I may have to get 2, just to open up the Zuckuss.  I love that classic look with the faux leather garb!  Excellent review!
