The Omwati
« on: January 16, 2010, 08:32:13 PM »
INFO: Although the Omwati were not a branch of Humanity, they resembled them greatly.

RACE: Omwati
HEIGHT: 1.6 to 2.1 Meters Tall
SKIN: Blue
DISTINCTION: Bird-like anthropoids
LANGUAGE: Omwatese

HOMEWORLD:
Omwat was a planet in the Garis sector of the Outer Rim Territories that had honeycombed cities. It was a world of grasslands and mountains and the homeworld of the native Omwati.

A group of the indigenous Omwati established a small but successful colony on Coruscant around 4,000 BBY, but their homeworld was long forgotten by the galactic community until rediscovered by Wilhuff Tarkin in 25 BBY. The planet was taken over by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars and was the site of a battle 20 BBY. The planet was later subjugated by Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin. Tarkin stole a number of children from the planet to be trained as superweapon think-tank geniuses in an orbiting center. Only one child, Qwi Xux, survived thru this program; her fellow captives were killed, their home cities destroyed from orbit. The Omwati eventually achieved space travel and contacted their kin on Coruscant. They eventually joined the New Republic.

BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:
The Omwati external differences from humans were extremely small. Omwati skin was a bluish color, and their eyes were generally blue or black. The size of an adult Omwati bordered that of a Human, although their morphology was typically slightly frailer, especially among female Omwati. There were very few Omwati with a stout physiology. Their most striking characteristic was their "hair", which appeared to be made of small, diaphanous feathers of an iridescent color. Omwati did not have any other hair.

CULTURE AND HISTORY:
The Omwati rarely left their homeworld until Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin discovered their potential use as scientists for the Empire. He found that if young Omwati were forced to endure the right amount of pressure at the right times, their minds could become incredibly malleable and brilliant. This discovery led to the creation of the Death Star and later the Sun Crusher.

After Grand Moff Tarkin's devastating visit to Omwat, searching for scientists, the Omwati species was near extinction. However, one village of the Omwati escaped destruction by hiding underground from the Galactic Empire. The Omwati came out of hiding after the rise of the New Republic, and began to live in peace and prosperity.

Qwi Xux was perhaps the best known Omwati in the New Republic. She was a researcher at the Imperial Maw Installation and a principal designer of the Death Star. Another Omwati was the Jedi Tannis.
