That's awesome Ron. My son has been painting Warhammer since he was about 10 and building dioramas for them as well. It's a great creative outlet. He's a way better painter than I am. He'd give your kids a hard time and say, "My Space Marines could totally destroy your Orcs." :) It is a delight to watch both creativity and skill emerge in our children, so I'm glad you can take pride in their work. From one "Warhammer Dad" to another, enjoy!

Thanks heaps buddy and his having a ball painting them and I showed him this message and he said my Orcs super Marine Killers LOL "let the war begin" LOL.

You should put your sons figures up so we can see them and his dios that would cool. Yeah us dad's never think our kids will love the things we do but when they do it is a great feeling that is for sure.

Hi All,

A mate from my model group built a F4 Phantom 1/48 scale kit and wanted a base done for it and gave me a reference photo as per the first pic as he is entering it in a model comp this weekend. He asked could I make a diorama base for him and I jumped at the chance as I love doing water.

The base is high density foam cut to size and then I used watered down spakfilla and covered the base. While the spakfilla is drying I then used a mdeium wide brush and lightly wet it and gave the spakfilla a flicking motion with the brush to make the waves.

Once the spakfilla is dry I then painted the water using Vallejo's light green and once that was dry I gave it several washes of Vallejo's Dark blue until I was happy with the way it looked.

Once the washes were dry I then dry brushed the waves using Vallejo's Flat white and once dry I added three layers of Woodland Scenics Realistic water.
The two rows of water were done by using a cut up coat hanger to get the angle and then I used cotton wool to make the streams of waves/water.

Very cool dios. The ww2 paratrooper is awesome, and the F4 dio is fantastic. I've seen them on FB, but I had to say something here.

Nice display! The water effects look incredibly realistic again! In scale 1:48 it was certainly not an easy task. Your buddy must be very happy with the result!

Thanks heaps Philipp and he was stoked and to be honest it is easier to do the water in larger scales then in smaller scales.

Hi All,

Completed another small WW2 German diorama.

The bike, pig and figure on the are from Zvezda and the other three figures are from ICM and have been painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks.

The base is an old 1:35 scale base and the cobblestone road and footpath are an old vac form kit I have for years. I appiled it to the base and once dry I cut the excess area's off, the street light is from Miniart and the broken bulb is a HO scale bulb that didn't work anymore.

The debri/dirt on the ground was a mix of spakfilla/dirt and small pieces of kitty litter and the base was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.
