non Star Wars model kits (MQ-9 Reaper UAV 02/09/2014)
« on: December 10, 2009, 11:20:18 AM »
Beside Star Wars I also collect model kits. Here is my favorite of my collection, the Saab J35OE Draken austrian speacial (ostarrichi 996).

History:
Austria operated 24 Saab Draken. In 1996 the Draken with the number 08 gets his famous twin-tone colouring for the 1000th anniversary of Austria.

The model kit comes from Hasegawa scale 1:48

2ft wingspan, I think this is scale 1:48. I have a B-17G from Revell in scale 1:48 a very good kit. They made also the  B-17F (Memphis Belle) with scale 1:48.

Nicely built kit, FF! I also like non star wars kits but I am more into Armor and cars than planes. The execution of detail looks magnificent on that plane. That cockpit shot looks amazing.

Here is a link to my non star wars custom thread where I have some shots of some of my built kits.

ahh the Memphis Belle.. great plane! There was a great movie out about 15 years ago about it's history.. good story though I'm having trouble remembering the title at the moment.. (It's 7:50am)...

May help you with details and historic background to watch it.

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (JSF)

This kit from Revell is in scale 1:48. This is of course no easykit, glueing and painting is required. It includes about 45 parts, a construction manual and decals for three differnt versions. I build the fictitious Netherland-version. It was quite difficult to build, the landing gear is a bit tricky.
price: about 20€

information:
The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a fifth-generation, single-seat, single-engine, stealth multirole fighter, that can perform close air support, tactical bombing, and air defense missions. The F-35 has three different models; one is the conventional takeoff and landing variant, the second is short takeoff and vertical-landing variant, and the third is a carrier-based variant.
The F-35 is descended from the X-35, the product of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. Its development is being principally funded by the United States and the United Kingdom, with other partner governments providing additional funding. It is being designed and built by an aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin with Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems as major partners. Demonstrator aircraft flew in 2000, with the first flight on 15 December 2006.

yeah that's right. It was not the most realistic movie but it was nice to see the plane in action.

That's another sweet build, Fila! Once again, the cockpit looks fabulous!
