2009 Legacy Build a Droid HK-50
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:16:49 PM »
This is the Build a Droid that is available with the latest release of Legacy figures and one that I have been looking forward to putting together. I will have to say that this is one of the cooler looking non-astromech droids available to the BAD line of parts and I am loving this anodized blue color that he wears. This is a straight repaint of the HK-47 bad figure released earlier in the year. After assembly, he is quite articulated except for the head which is just a pegged swivel joint rather than a ball mounted joint. Just shy of being super arty by that one joint. The droid comes with an interesting rifle and looks like he means business when he is holding it.

Here is the list, thus far, of where the parts to this droid can be found.

# Plo Koon (includes HK-50's right arm)
# Comcept art Snowtrooper (includes HK-50's left leg)
# Clone Commander Bacura (includes HK-50's torso)
# Willrow Hood (includes HK-50's left arm)
#Zuckuss (includes HK-50's right leg)
#Clone Commander Devis (includes HK-50's head and gun)"repack"
#AT-AT Driver(includes HK-50's torso)
#R2-X1 (includes HK-50's left leg)
I know that this list is not complete and figure that there are at least 4 more figs with HK-50 parts in them. I hope that you fellow shipyarders can help me finish it.

This was to be repaint with slight mods to head sculpt of HK 47 from the  prior release...
Can you confirm this?
I am really wanting this one. Just hate having to buy so many figs I really dont want.
Saw most of the figs you have listed with this... packed wit R series droid parts...
The WM $6 fig deals makes it harder to pass them up.
Great pics and review again Clint.

That's just it, Dana, I thought that figures being repacked with newer waves were getting different parts than they were originally released with but looking at your story, perhaps they are switching up the parts on the fly, focusing on 2-3 droids per wave.

I can not confirm the likeness to the HK-47 droid as I never build one of those. Nor do I have any of that droid's parts, believe it or not.

I just put mine together and I love this droid. I also have HK-47 and there is no change to the head sculpt, it is just a repaint.

Boy I love the work that is going on here with all this good intel gathering. I will try to keep em current on the front page. The review section has him up and going live along with Willrow.

I was trolling Ebay to see what these BADs are going for, and more than they're worth!  Sorry, I'm not dishing out $20+ for a figure.  I'd love to get a trio of HK-50s, a YVH-1, some various astromechs, and of course, HK-47, but I won't pay those prices.

Same here,  I may have to resort of buying random parts, if I can't get a fig I want with the corresponding part, but I want this one and HK-47 in the worst way.

I saw some parts going for a buck, others for $10.  Considering the figures themselves (especially lately with Holiday sales) are starting off at $5, but more around $8, how can one limb go for more than the figure itself?  I'm VERY surprised that we haven't seen a mass slicing of packages for these parts.  I know you see that somethimes here or there, but it doesn't appear to be rampant.  I'm imagining like the Mystery Hot Wheels cars.

There are quite a few auctions going where you can find a part for $1. That would be the most economical way to put a fig together rather than buying the whole fig.

I added another figure to the parts list to make this one.
