Australia
« on: December 06, 2009, 04:33:29 AM »
Well i'd better add my part in this.

Australia and New Zealand map

Queensland is on the East Coast and the town i live in is Rockhampton (about thirty minutes drive from the coast)

Rockhamptons main street

to the left of this photo will be the Fitzroy River which divides our town and runs directly into the Pacific Ocean. The building in this shot is the oldest in town and is a very well used pub now. and the XXXX on top doesn't mean what some of you think. it's a type of Beer here...lol

Botanical Gardens

Farm north of Rockhampton. Our state is well know for huge Cattle properties

Bridge which separates our town.

Caves to the north

Another shot of the Fitzroy River

Rodeo. Very popular here in Oz...

Here you can see a better shot of the main centre of town and the river that divides it...

Very detailed,  I always told Sue if I ever got to teh point that I could live anywhere, we would move to New Zealand, Your photo history of Australia is very cool,  I never knew rodeo was popular there,  around here it is big and in the western states even more so.   The Old Pub has such a great design, I wouldn't mind a pint in there one day. Australia is on our travel plans one day,

Greg, your downtown reminds me alot of Disney World mainstreet area.  Looks just a scene from a town here in the states.

The shot of the Fitzroy River reminds me of the Susquehanna River dividing here.

Guess whats happening in little ol' Adelaide... Clipsal 500 or for those who don't know, a V8 supercar race. Anyways, this wasn't the highlight of my day yesterday. Whilst walking through the mall, i noticed a lightsaber being swung around and a huge crowd amassing around a few people. To my surprise it was a Darth Vader, 2 Snow troopers, a storm trooper and a Captain Rex. All the guys were great. We took some photos with them, yes i publicly embarrassed myself, and had a great time. Not used to seeing this sort of thing in Australia, let alone in Adelaide. Was really great and made my day!! I'll get the photo up when i finally get it from my friend.....its already been circulated around facebook lol!!
