In think it was back in 1978 when I fist saw the figures in the local toyshop.
I liked Han Solo and asked my mom to take my allowance and buy him for me.
Guess what? She brought back Luke Skywalker...
The day after she took me to town and I got my Han figure, though.
But for the record, my first vintage toy was the Luke action figure.

My first one was a Tusken Raider. Me and my brother both got one and he told the cashier he didn't want the tax, only the figure. She thought it was so funny she paid the tax herself.

That is funny.   :D  I'd be inclined to pay the tax for some kid myself.

My first Vintage Star Wars item was the Early Bird set. The wait for the figures to arrive felt like an eternity.

I was 7 years old when my mom took me to Rink's (retail store no longer in business) to get a SW fig. The excitement matched that of Christmas. I was allowed to choose one. I chose Sandpeople. I still think they are one of the coolest dudes in SW. Now 35 years later I am one figure away (EV-9D9) from having every original vintage figure...woohoo!

I thought that was you. You will have to show us a pic of your vintage collection including that most recent rare acquired item.

Wow, one figure away from having them all? I would like to see you start up a collection thread.

It was the Saturday before Easter in 1978. My mom and I were at Walgeens where, sitting by the checkouts was a cardboard display of Figures. They had everyone but R2, 3PO, Jawa, Tusken raider and the Death Squad Commander. Mom put everyone on Layaway but Luke and the stormtrooper. She said we'd get them next week.

What she didnt tell me was she had a friend from work pick up Luke and the Stormtrooper a week or so before.

Hell, my memory for my figures is so good, I could probably tell you were I got each on of my vintage figures, and probably in the order I did. ;D

Qrest first off welcome to isy,

Second I would love to hear you deliver that story. What a journey that would make.

Wouldn't it be cool to see you start with your first one and then go down the line in the order you got them?

Of course, after I make such a claim, I'm trying to remember!1

So, Ok,  It would have been 3-35-78 that I got my first two figures Luke and the stormtrooper. After leaving walgreens I must have been driving my mother nuts because she gave them to me that afternoon. A friend of hers had gone to the toy store on the other side of town the week prior and had her get them for her.

I got the 5 (Han, leia, Chewbacca, Ben and darth vader) off layaway the Friday that Donny and marie aired theier SW episode. I ended up missing the episode but got the figures after bad events of the early evening.

Got R2-D2 and C-3po and Richman Gordman on the west side of town some time later.

I remember getting The tusken raider at K-mart near my house.

Now, the first one I'm not 100% sure of. The Death Squad Commander. I think I got him at K-mart the same day I got the tusken raider. But for some reason, I want to say I got him at Target.

As for the jawa. One Sunday at the JCPenny's store down town, went there with Mom for who knows what. They had a waits high display case in the basement near the toys that I often looked at since it had one of the Star Wars jewelry necklace displays on top. It would spin around and had star wars necklaces on it. R2, 3PO, Vader's helmet, chewabacca and the x-wing. So this sunday I walked up to it, looked it over and one one side, in the display case was the Jawa w/ cloth robe.

In exact order

1. Boba fett x2  (didn't realize it till I knew what SW was)
2. X-wing (just the shell) (flea market)
3. Falcon (just the shell) (trash day)
4. Jabba (missing arm) (trash day)

After that I  was collecting and got w/e was gifted to me or found cheap...

- Han hoth
-chewbacca
-3po (org.)
-Leia hoth
-Yoda (complete!)

The rest I cannot really recall in order since I got heavily into it and  tried my hardest to get or make known I wanted best condition and complete.
