Ever since I did my action fleet version of the Royal guard Tie Interceptor I've wanted to do it justice in the 1:18th scale and make a royal guard pilot....  so I bought a TRU exclusive interceptor and gave it a go....

I also cobbled together my own version of a royal guard pilot by kit bashing together a resin cast royal guard helmet with a resin cast tie pilot helmet.  I like the way the helmet turned out but the figure itself I think could be better...  I wound up using a menagerie of joe parts to build the basis of the figure and then cut some red fabric for the "robes".  I went with a kama and cape style instead of full robes because I felt like a pilot wouldn't need the full honor guard style robes but still needed to retain that royal guard feel....  I think he could be better but I think I'd have to start over from scratch.

There are alot of pics because I couldn't get the lighting right in any of them... the red just doesn't photograph well....

sorry for all the pics.... i went camera happy on this one.  ???

very nice. I love the helmet mod for the pilot on this guy. As usual, you are pretty hard on  yourself. I like it a lot. On the front page.

Very nice repaint on the ship. I really like the figure, that helmet mod rules!

thanks guys,
I realy am happy with the helmet mod... just not the robes or the figure itself. I got realy lazy with the paint apps on the figure after focusing so hard on the ship.  this has been one of the longest projects I've worked on lately, and yet one of the easiest...
when you consider all the things I had to do to put together my "snake monger" armor (in my misc. customs thread) and realize I put that one together from start to finish in a single 3-4 hour period in one day and this tie interceptor and pilot took me almost a week to finish because of all the detail painting and crap....

have I ever mentioned that the painting is my least favorite part of this hobby?

the other thing I was disapointed with were the photos... I just couldn't get a good balance of lighting for the shots of this figure and ship.  the flash made the red too bright and washed out the details... without the flash the details didn't stand out...:(
