Guys I have been a droid lover for years, I confess. I hav been addicted to Wraith Nines Astromech Dirrectory from day one as well as another site that great info and references.      http://www.angelfire.com/droid/astromechs/    I have since freed a few droids from the plastic and set up this shelf with my astromech collection.

Why is this in the customs section? Because I don't have a collection page, guess I should start one. Any way a few of them are customs including one of my first customs, see if you can find it.

I do have a new droid and 2 WIP pics for you. First up is an un-named R1 droid that is in the original release of A New Hope.

and these are my most current WIPs, though there are several others. You may have seen them on my desk in the group pic.

He too is is the OT same scene

The R1 would have been my first spot, and then you posted some pix of that one, which I guess says that wasn't your virginal droid custom.
I also saw some R5 dome swaps, but that would be too recent. Honestly, alot of R5s would qualify.
The Dagobah R2 comes to mind, since the body is done, but the legs aren't. I wish that I could blow up the picture.
I'm not familiar with the R2 next to the custom R1, but that may be a comic pack droid, or Wal Mart exclusive that I haven't seen. There are a couple of R2 units above the POTF2 R5s that I don't recognize, but my final guess would be:
The POTF2 R5 next to the redo R5, and also next to the original POTF2 R5. It looks like you did a much improved leg swap.
That would be my pick of your first astromech mod.

Barry

Thanks guys, and Barry is very thorough. My first custom droid was the 3rd R5, he has some black markings on the front.

Great Job On The R1 Really Turned out great.
Two Question Though:
1 What kind of stand are You Using?
2 Is It This One?

Thanks guys. Allen, good eye but that is one of my newest droids you circled. The shelf was made in a matter of minutes with foam core and hot glue. Now I need to make a longer one!

Spry the weathering on the R1 unit is probably the best weathering I've ever seen.
Can you give us a short weathering tutorial, that would be great.

Christoph, you are too kind. I used to do more WIP pics so you could see how things evolve but didn't get much response and I have not had the time to stop for pics these days. I will try to do that on the next project I weather. I do have a new product I am working with that a friend at RS clued me in on. It smells great!

Allen, we posted at the same time. You must have esp here is the rest of the post...

Here are 2 droids I have been working on and just finished up.

Un-named R2 unit. This guy is visible rolling by C-3PO & R2-D2 while Luke and Obi-Wan are in the cantina. I did such a light weathering on him I may hit some spots again.

DOROVIA BOLD'S R2

Oh no, you fools! You gave my astro 2 right legs. Shipyarders please help me fix my astromech. Several left legs needed to repair astros so we can crush the Empire! We need your help, respond today, before it is too late! :o
